We recently moved to the area from Raleigh, NC and were pleasantly surprised to find the Fireside Grill. This locally owned and operated business offers a wide range of menu options, and all are tasty! The servers are happy to be there and the restaurant almost feels like a community. My wife and I have a hard time finding something that we like at this restaurant. They used to have items on the menu that we liked, but those are no longer on the menu. About 30% of the times we have eaten at Fireside Grill we have had a problem with our food not being properly prepared, or getting stale buns, or old tough bacon. We have eaten here on several occasions. It has been consistently good. The service has been friendly and efficient. The menu selections are sufficient. The atmosphere is not special. It resembles that of a common chain restaurant. The prices are somewhat on the high side. However, the food tastes good and comes in sufficient portions. I recommend this place. read more

I stayed next to this place on a recent business trip, and while we were already going to go based on how the outside looked, a few locals recommended it as well. I had the Black & Blue salad which I felt was a bit risky, but at $8.59, it came with probably 4-6 oz. of perfectly cooked char-grilled sirloin, tons of bleu cheese crumbles, and a romaine mix. (I would've preferred spring greens, but no big.) My dining companion ordered one chicken breast, which came with applesauce... a little strange, but whatever, and one sweet potato. It didn't look like a ton of food. There's an option to upgrade to two breasts for an extra couple of bucks; the one breast option I believe was $9.99. (And for those who are extra cost conscious, my soft drink ran $2.25.) Service was good, also. Really, no complaints. This is really cheap, tasty dining... and I understand wanting to eat fried food that's not overly greasy, but it seems that most of the complaints about grease were from folks who ordered fried food. This place has gone downhill. The food is still pretty good, but not as good as it was a couple of years ago. The waitstaff seems unhappy. We came for team trivia nights when they briefly did them last year, and the servers seemed unhappy to have to wait on the trivia room. There were frequent gaps in service and seeming irritation when we ordered drinks from the bar (which is odd since the drinks are expensive for what they are, which ran up our tab, and our tip for the staff). We ate here for a regular dinner meal not too long ago, and the food wasn't great, the temperature was hot and sticky in the restaurant, and our server left us for so long that we very nearly left cash on the table and left to get some water. I have recently moved to the area and the smell wafting from this place drew me in like a cartoon character floating in on food fumes. The service was exceptional. The waiter, I'm sorry I can't remember his name, but he was fast friendly and took our entire order with all the changes without writing anything down and it came out correct! We ordered the sampler appetizer with waffle bites mozzarella triangles boneless buffalo wings, which are actually the size of tenders and buffalo chicken dip. All were delicious. Also ordered the Putnam pepperoni rolls which were the best we have had, even better than the Bucket and their deep fried ones that have now been replaced by these. I built my own burger and it was perfect. You could taste the smoke in the burger.. dare I say it was better than Fat Pattys? I do... we could not eat everything we ordered and took a huge bag of leftovers home. I actually got raw wings that were cold, seriously they were not cooked and someone covered them in BBQ sauce. Again they were not cooked. The waitress did not believe me took them away and never returned. She never returned with the ingredients for the cobb salad either. In Fact she never returned we waited 40 minutes. We finally went to checkout and asked to speak to Mgr. The waitress came up told the manager yea his wings were raw and she didn't have anything in her salad and she walked away. Went to Fireside this evening, (party of six) arrived at 630, had drinks, ordered both appetizers and meals at 7. No special instructions, just meals straight off the menu. Restaurant was not too busy, was seated immediately. Appetizers arrived 35 minutes later. Ordered the deviled eggs appetizer, which were very good. Our friends ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were also good, but lukewarm. Our dinners did not arrived until one hour after ordering. I ordered the bbq ribs and mashed potatoes with a side salad. The salad was delicious and fresh. My dinner was barely lukewarm, as was my boyfriends dinner of stuffed flounder. The presentation lacks A LOT to be desired (does not look appealing, just dumped on the plate) and the amount of time to actually get our dinners was way too long (an hour). This is an expensive restaurant, that serves mediocre food. Was disappointed with the whole experience. May go back, but I doubt it. read more

We were going to split the Lava cake but they were OUT - it is only 6:30... We were by the bar and I saw a trick they use. A beer had been sitting awhile and the server used a straw to stir it to recreate a foam head and then took it to a table.
