We made the drive from Sissonville to Hurricane for a late-night dinner in celebration of West Virginia Day, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere warm and inviting. While the service left some room for improvement, it was ultimately satisfactory and didn't detract significantly from the evening. We started with their signature Pepperoni Rolls--stuffed with pepperoni, ricotta, and mozzarella, seasoned with garlic salt, then wrapped and topped with melted butter and parmesan cheese. They were absolutely delicious, and perfectly enjoyable with or without the accompanying marinara sauce. We also tried the Wild & Wonderful Wings (traditional, mild sauce), which both the kids and I found to be flavorful and well-balanced. The "Big Azz Pretzel" lived up to its name in size, and our party of six had no trouble finishing it. My husband opted for the Atomic Andi Burger, featuring jalapeño cream cheese, which he thoroughly enjoyed (he nearly inhaled it); I sampled a bite and found it to be rich and flavorful. The kids ordered off the children's menu: one had a cheese quesadilla--though we wished it came with a side of salsa or sour cream--and another had the Steak Tips with fries, which were a hit, especially when paired with A1 Steak Sauce. A few things: the ranch dressing for our salads was a bit thin, and the serving for the dressing was sparse. We had to ask for extra and even then it lacked in flavor. Our table was sticky upon sitting down, never a great first impression. And lastly, nitpicking here, but the silverware is like school cafeteria silverware. Stopped in one recent Wednesday night on the recommendation of the hotel staff where we were staying down the road after they gave it glowing reviews (especially for the pepperoni rolls). The parking lot was pretty full but we were seated at a booth over by the bar area with no problem. After debating the menu for a while, my sister and I opted to just share several appetizers between ourselves for dinner. We went with the: - buffalo chicken dip (I found the texture to be a bit odd and waaaay too heavy on the cream cheese with only a little bit of pulled chicken) the tortilla chips were also bordering on the stale side - pepperoni rolls: I gotta say - this was my very first pepperoni roll to try and it really had me thinking that it would be a WV culinary thing that was going to be lost on me. FireSide Grille's tasted like a mediocre Stromboli that left me underwhelmed. (I would later try some homemade ones that changed my view though) - fried devil eggs: on paper these sound like they should be AMAZING and a culinary adventure for your tastebuds. The result however was a fried crust that was too hard and for something that should have been exploding with flavors...all I could taste was mayo. - waffle fries: technically this is a side item (not an appetizer) but it was our favorite thing we tried and the only dish that we completely devoured. They were crispy and well seasoned. The service was great and the staff all super friendly but the appetizers we tried were just ok. Nothing made me want to come running back anytime soon. read more

We tried four different appetizers and the best thing was their waffle French fries . The Buffalo chicken dip , pepperoni rolls , fried devil eggs were all mediocre and definitely not worth the calories. If you are staying at a nearby hotel , perhaps check it out but recognize it's glorified bar food and not that good . read more

Ate here for dinner and it has been quite a while since I last visited, for no reason in particular. But I was happily impressed with the food and selections that seem to have been added to the menu. I had the smashed baked potato with bbq pork rib and ohmylanta it was good. The bread pudding was dessert. I got the West Virginia wedge salad- 8/10 it was pretty tasty. They put a lot of red onion and I wish I took some out before I mixed the salad together. It was a pretty decent sized salad! They kept the core of the lettuce still attached which was odd but I just put it out. We also tried the spinach and artichoke dip- 6/10 we were very full so we couldn't eat much of it but it seemed like it was missing something. I liked how it wasn't super salty. Sometimes this dip can be but it wasn't. We took it home for leftovers. It was okay but I don't think we would need to order it again. We also tried the traditional wings- 9/10. The only reason this isn't a 1 star was our server was a 5 star. It took nearly 1hr to get our food (the restaurant was nearly empty) When it finally arrived it was disgusting to put it mildly. The "glazed salmon" was not glazed it was cooked most likely on a flat top griddle with sauce poured across it and the asparagus (see pic). The wild rice was in fact burnt brown rice (see pic). It was nearly inedible and unfortunately my daughter ordered the salmon too and it was served the same way ,disgusting. My wife ordered grilled chicken and it had a soap taste. We told our server and she was very apologetic and offered to have it remade but we had already waited an hour at this point and we had an appointment we would be late for if we waited for a redo. She took 10% off the bill ,a nice gesture on her part ,but honestly after eating here for the last 10yrs the food quality is so bad we will not be returning. What a wonderful dining experience, From the time we were seated Gideon, our server, offered us a wonderful experience. The tossed salad was very fresh and chilled and the rest of the evening was even better. Three of the four of us had stuffed flounder as the entre' while the fourth had a cheeseburger. The flounder was cooked perfectly and was topped with a fantastic crab stuffing with a tasty sauce on top. That was served over rice. Even the broccoli was very good. The location was nice and cute. We put in our order and when it came I noticed first a huge piece of plastic wrap in my food. No big deal it looked like it was from the sauce so I pulled it out and put it aside. My girlfriend cut into her fish and when she picks it up a huge fly is stuck in the potatoes under it. This is all about the food and not the service! The service was great! The food was not good! My wife ordered Cajun Chicken Pasta. The pasta sauce tasted burnt and it's texture was like a thick glue. Bread was ok but no butter. The waitress told us that they don't serve butter with their bread which was ridiculous! All the restaurants that we have been to always serve butter with their bread or rolls. When we told the waitress, she immediately apologized and comped us the meal. We didn't see a manager. The lure of deep-fried deviled eggs brought me to FireSide Grill today. I know the restaurant has been around for about a decade, but this was my first time here. Since I live in the Montgomery-area now, it's a bit of a hike. So, I threw on some jogging pants and slicked my hair up in a bun, so I could fully partake in an all-out gorge-fest to make the drive worth it. First impressions? It is a nice, clean and spacious restaurant. Their salad was killer. I am a sucker for homemade ranch. I always say to folks that there's two ways you can determine if a restaurant is good - the taste of their ranch and the quality of their hot dogs. I ordered the meat lasagna and it looked like a "Cheesevalanche." And yes, I just combined "cheese" and "avalanche" to create my own word. BUT it seems like the perfect description to me. ‍ The deep-fried deviled eggs were beautifully displayed. Pretty much picture-perfect. HOWEVER, I realized to my dismay, that I don't really like deep-fried deviled eggs. Here, I have been fantasizing about my first time feasting on a deep-fried deviled egg for months and my taste buds were like, "Nah girl. You gonna stick with your momma's Fayette County eggs - the way God intended deviled eggs to be. You getting above your raising now, ya hear?" Boy, I tried hard. We happen to find fireside grill when we stopped for gas and are so glad that we did. The prices were phenomenal. We ordered the spinach dip appetizer ($7.99), a quesadilla kids meal ($3.99), and two fried chicken entrees ($12.99 each). Spinach dip was great. The chips did not taste homemade, but were still fine. My son loved the quesadilla and Dad had a few bites (dad tax). Even my husband commented that it was really good. We really liked the fried chicken. It had a thin breading, came with a gravy, and it was served with two sides. We both had a salad. I had the broccoli casserole which was phenomenal. My husband had the mashed potatoes and said that they were also good. My son finished his meal with the kid's ice cream. Kayla was our waitress and did a fantastic job. The Philly Cheesesteak brought back memories of me walking down the smelly streets of Flyers territory earlier in my life. I placed an order to go because I am still not fully comfortable eating in places due to the pandemic. I order 12 wings. The hostess and service was nice. However, the wings were absolutely terrible!! I order 6 hot and 6 honey bbq. I have not had wings this bad before. I am so disappointed. I really tried to eat them because I am not a believer in throwing away food. I even tried to add my own sauce at home, but I was so disappointed that I had no desire to eat them anymore.
