Bartender Adam was friendly, excellent service & food was delish! Two cocktails, Wedge Salad, NY Strip (medium well), Baked Potato & Sautéed mushrooms = $91, we shared. I eat small portions so we share most meals, but this was enough for two full entrees! The sweet candied bacon & creamy chunky blue cheese dressing on the fresh crispy Wedge blended perfectly. I added slices of the NY Strip & I'd say it would be my absolute favorite salad ever, minus the grease from the steak. The NY Strip & mushrooms were cooked accordingly & full of flavor. Huge baked potato as well. However, it was all greasy. Dessert menu looked delicious & included Creme Brulee, but we were too full. We saved our appetite all day for this wonderful steak dinner, but afterwards & the next day, we were both sick to our stomach. If it was just my stomach that didn't agree, it would be different, but it was both of us. Either it was the blue cheese dressing, which tasted fine or the grease. Pricing is on the high end for the area but they did have several delicious options. My fiancé and I dined here for Valentine's Day dinner. We made reservations and showed up early but they were able to get us right in. We had an awesome server, Olivia. The bread and butter was fresh and delicious. We ordered the shrimp cocktail for an appetizer. The shrimp was a little tough but the sauces were tasty. I ordered the French onion soup and my fiancé the lobster chowder. Both were delicious. For the entree, I had the salmon and my fiancé the New York strip. The salmon was average but the New York strip was amazing. It was the best steak I've ever had. For drinks, we had moscato and the hurricane. For dessert, we shared the delectable creme brûlée. I would have given 5 stars but something upset both of our stomachs later in the evening, I'm thinking the shrimp. read more

Went for the Wednesday prime rib special. Meat was cooked perfectly and served with great horseradish sauce. The baked potato was just ok, nothing spectacular. The special came with cheesecake, which I'm not a huge fan of. Hubby ate that and I had the creme brûlée which was yummy. Service was wonderful even with half the crew apparently calling in sick. We had the Thursday (Oct 5) Filet dinner for two $60, but with Casino promos it was $30. The hostess (did not get her name) was the greatest- friendly, entertaining, knowledgeable and helpful. Her job seemed more than seating people she would ask how things were during our meal and if dishes needed removed from the table she did that. Unfortunately the service from the server and cooks wasn't as attentive. The food took a while to cook and be delivered. So onto the second best thing- the food. The Filet was cooked beautifully and the taste was great. The baked potato was big and great. The salad was on the small side, but tasted good. The green beans should have been more dente. The desert was very good. So the next time we eat here I really hope that hostess is working and the food is as good or a little better than before read more

We asked a few employees of the casino where we would get the best food. All of them said French Quarter, so that's where we went! Service was not wonderful. It wasn't bad, but it felt a lil indifferent. Great draft beer selection at the restaurant. We started with the crispy shrimp and pork belly. The crispy shrimp came recommended, but they were outshone by the pork belly. Steak Frites was really good, with a very well cooked and seasoned steak. Fries were crisp and seasoned, but were not amazing. A side of Brussels sprouts roasted with cherry peppers was a great surprise. No room left for dessert, but the features weren't that exciting. The rolls were weird. They were bland and not delicious. The outside was hard. I think they are bought and warmed. Weekend Breakfast Buffet: A bit of a mixed bag. The first time we went, the service was good and all the items on the buffet were reasonably fresh and hot. The most recent time, however, the service was poor, dishes and table were dirty, and some of the food was gross. The eggs were in the warming tray for so long that they developed a crusty skin. The potatoes were cold. Many of the brunch items were dried out. It was not a great experience. When we were nearly done eating, fresh food finally replaced the old food on the buffet. This is the fancier of the two restaurants inside the Mardi Gras Casino and Resort. Usually it's best to call and get a reservation before hand, but we were lucky enough to get in without a wait on a Friday night when they have an all-you-can eat seafood buffet for $22.95. Sodas are just $1 more. For the most part, everything was great. They had a seafood lasagna with crab, Maine Lobster, clams, and tilapia. The Prime rib on the buffet was sub-par. It was dry for being prime rib. I'd say order it on a prime rib special night, but don't get it off the buffet. They have all you can eat crab legs, which is a plus. Definitely a must try. read more

I have eaten here several times when in town for work and it was quite good. My most recent visit, however, was disappointing. My steak was over cooked and a cheap cut which I paid $50 for. My guest's prime rib was the pre cooked kind and was not very good at all. Vegetables were okay but our baked potatoes came with cheap margarine on them. For the price per meal, you would think they could afford real butter. I definitely won't be spending my money here again. read more

I grant that I should have tempered my expectations since I was eating in WV, but my experience was mediocre, especially for the price. My sea bass ($30) was cooked pretty well but lacked flavor. I ended up swabbing it through the juice from my green beans ($6) to give it some flavor. Potatoes au gratin ($6) were mushy, not at all creamy. Had a Private dinner party that was set up on the "stage"...nice view from the top of the casino, but you have to go outside and go up the fire escape to get there, not a good idea in cold weather. The waitress' had to carry the food, drinks, everything up and down about 25 steps. Seems to me that a place that is making that much money, they could put in an elevator for the servers/customers. It has been at least 10 years or longer since I've eaten at the French Quarter restaurant inside Mardi Gras Casinos in Cross Lanes. I don't remember much about that last experience so I was excited when my boyfriend suggested we stop there for a late dinner this past Saturday night. Since the smoking ban went in place, it was a pleasant experience to walk inside the busy casino and not be hit by that offensive odor of days past. We found the restaurant at nearly 10:00 p.m. to still be somewhat busy and there was a slight delay in getting the party in front of us seated, so we elected to sit at the bar for our meal. The bartender greeted us right away and offered menus as she took our drink order. We had a few questions and asked for some recommendations and it became clear that she wasn't exactly a "foodie". I asked about the halibut -- she doesn't like fish. He asked about the pork tenderloin -- she doesn't like the mustard sauce it comes with. We asked about the veal pot stickers -- she finds them salty. So we forged ahead on our own, and I ordered baked halibut, while my boyfriend chose the Berkshire pork chop. We did order an appetizer as well, the crispy shrimp. If not exactly crispy, it was very flavorful. The shrimp were huge and covered in a spicy orange sauce which obviously negated some of the crispiness, but they were really good. The dinner rolls were somewhat institutional. (I really, really love bread, but when they're not worth the carbs, let them go. I let these go.) We didn't have to wait long for our entrees. My halibut was baked with a pistachio crust, and while the flavor was good, it was a bit dry. It was served with a very disappointing sweet corn risotto, which was mushy and somewhat bland. To be fair, the restaurant closed at 11:00, and we arrived around 10:00. I like to think that my risotto would have fared a little better at 7:00. I did enjoy the accompanying hericot vert, which were tender crisp without seeming to have been hanging around all evening waiting for the last diners of the night. While my dinner was merely average, my partner was enjoying quite a different experience. His Berkshire pork chop was enormous and expertly grilled. It was done to perfection and it looked beautiful atop his dish of brussel sprouts and heirloom potatoes. The brussel sprouts had a delicious mustard sauce (although a little bit went a very long way, so perhaps the non-foodie bartender had a point after all), and roasted potatoes were a treat. (This is the second time in recent weeks when I've seen a tri-color potato dish, so if this is becoming a thing, I'm all for it.) His dish was so large that he couldn't finish it (in spite of my stealing bites here and there), and it was a lucky accident that the side of mac and cheese he had originally ordered was left, forgotten, in the kitchen. No one "needs" an additional side of mac and cheese, obviously....but sometimes you just have to feed that craving. As it turns out, neither of us had room for it, and it was graciously removed from our check. A few craft beers and a glass of wine later, our check totaled around $83.00. A bit spendy for the experience, and probably not one that will be repeated terribly often. But we had an enjoyable evening, a few cocktails, good service, some really great (and a bit of merely average) food, and lost $20 in the penny slots. Not a bad night overall. read more

This was by far the worst sea food buffet I have ever been too! The service was just above par. I can't stop thinking about the salad I got when I couldn't eat any of the food on the line because I was afraid of getting sick. My salad was very warm I took one bite and was done. Once our salads and appetizer came out then a hour after we were done our steaks came out then she kept apologizing they were "busy" but you just told me you were "slow" then the manager come over and ask how everything was? I told her what happened she said we can comp your desserts I told her they had already done that and we didn't want desert and she kept making all these excuses and ever one around us that got there after us got food desert and was done or had left. I told her just make it right so they took 10% off which was about 13 dollars well one dessert was about $13 and it was 3 of us. I told them I thought that was ridiculous then they sent the cook out and he says we had a 3 course meal being a appetizer, salad, and a steak and that's what took so long but that's normal "well why do yall keep apologizing if everything is normal?" and then ask what I thought was fair? I said 20 % then he said WELL we offered yall dessert and I don't know what more we can do I left my kitchen to come out here and talk to you ! He got really loud and rude !!!! Don't get me wrong this place has some delicious food, but my problem was these two horrible people. So we made reservations. Then it was set for 8:30. We came 30 minutes early. So the these to snobby stuck girls were there and they took people to their tables. The way they talked to us and treated us and other people was just rude. There were tons of tables open. They didn't even try to fit us in and other people. Then after we say down they were talking about us!!! Not only are they rude but the securities are also rude. The way the staff talks to you is unbelievable. This world if filled with cruel people like that. I don't get how they got their jobs in the first place. Unless you want to be talkin about or be treated horribly. Don't come to this restaurant. The food was amazing so are the waiters there too.
