We had opportunity for Overnight stay near here and yelped Chinese restaurants. We had a back up plan but choose to proceed into here as there was a medium amount of people going in. The outside of the building is in need of a bucket of water and soap along with the entranc. There are Huge Fish in a way to small fish tank. I'm saying this from being a pond owner a few years. The best Asian restaurant in Charleston, which makes it likely it's the best Asian in all of West Virginia. Matter of fact, I have yet to find a restaurant here in Columbus that I like as much as Main Tin. This used to be a really tiny spot with about ten tables. A few years ago they were able to use their success to expand and put in a buffet. When you order the buffet the quality sinks to that of any Chinese buffet you've ever been to. If you want to see how good they can really cook order something off the menu for them to cook fresh. They'll inevitably ask you "you don't like buffet?" (they always ask me this). I certainly wouldn't recomend the beef lo mein made my wife and me sick. The general tso's tasted like the sauce on it waa just heated up pancake syrup, and a majority of the chicken was burnt. Their noodles are decent but still not really all that good. I went here because someone in our party said this was her favorite restaurant in town....when I asked her if she had been to other Chinese places...she told me she had not....hmm? That is to be expected with a buffet, as the freshness of the food is dependant on the amount of people currently in the restaurant. If it is busy they will be pushing out more food. Best general Asian restaurant in the South Charleston/Charleston area. The buffet is what is it. Can be hit or miss, but my daughter and I love it and are regular customers. The selection is excellent, the stuffed mushrooms and jalapeno chicken are very good. There's always a decent selection of types of chicken, pepper steak, salmon, noodles, rice, etc. There are options for kids, mac and cheese, potatoes, jello, ice cream, etc. It's reasonably priced and a good buffet. Certainly there are hours when it is busier and will be fresher, but they will make something fresh upon request, and there are always good options to choose from. The real gem is ordering off the menu though. When you do that, you are assured some of the best quality Chinese you will get anywhere. We go around twice a month, and I have yet to see anything near as bad as some of the reviews I've read on here. We also frequent Grano, Pho, Yen's, Taste of Asia... I live not far from "downtown" South Charleston and am very pleased to have so many non-corporate, owner operated choices so close to home. read more

This restaurant wasn't too bad. The food was your average Chinese buffet and the service was pretty good. However, today when I went there we immediately got seated which was nice. But then as our server was taking our drink orders, the server then mocked us for ordering water and claiming we were cheap. We asked for clarification thinking maybe we misunderstood but then she continued to be rude. After that we just ignored the comments and tried to enjoy our meal as we only come here through day trips out of town. Overall, it's not a terrible place and I wouldn't judge their customer service as a whole based off of one rude person. It took that long to try and get something to eat. At this point they care more about their carry out or delivery than their dine in customers. I understand this is a buffet situation, bit we are still paying customers and want what we are paying for. Even saw a couple of guys get fed up after going up to the buffet and say forget it and walked out. I want everyone to know this, if they have food out it is great, but if you dine their during non peak hours they have nothing and you can ask all you want for food and they will never bring it. This review is for the take-out they have (I haven't tried the buffet yet). I got the typical general tso chicken combination that came with an eggroll and pork fried rice. Definitely the best chinese food I've had in the Charleston area so far. Nothing fancy, but you shouldn't expect much. This is a place for some decent tasting food at good prices. I really liked the fried rice because they didn't have the weird yellow rice like most other chinese places have Their rice looks more brownish and more like fried rice. However, the buffet they offer is best during the workweek around lunch time when they bring out fresh servings.
