The food was mediocre at best. I am gluten free so I asked for a lettuce wrap for my burger. The waitress came back out and said they were out of lettuce wraps. Of course, there's no gluten free buns either which is disappointing. Waitress tells me she can replace the lettuce with tomato's. I inform her I have a tomato allergy. She said that was okay and she'd let the cooks know. My meal arrived with a tomato. The waitress apologized but I wish the cooks would understand an allergy is an allergy. We had a party of 10 people. I had made a reservation, so our wait was minimal. Our waitress was very good. Appetizers were good, but very slow getting to our table. All the steaks were under cooked. We knew from previous visit, if we sent back it would be an hour to receive food back & it would be like rubber. This is a convenient location for us. We were a party of 6 who had stopped in around 4:30 for an early dinner and the reception was decent, although they seemed busy. They sat us after an 20-30 minute wait, which we were notified of beforehand. All the staff were decently nice/polite and we had no issues until we got our food. One of our group members had asked to hold an ingredient due to an allergy (mild but still an allergy) and they received their food with bits of said allergen in their food. Another person received a dirty plate smeared with what seemed to be a tomato sauce (which they are also allergic to). Worst of all, another person received a RAW fried chicken sandwich. The person who got the chicken ended up in the bathroom vomiting for the rest of the time we spent at the restaurant. The staff had taken the raw chicken dish away the instant we let them know and our server provided a menu so they could make a replacement meal. Finally, they comp-ed the chicken dish but still had our friend pay for the replacement dish. We called later and had it refunded by a manager (who was seemed uninterested to take the call/find out why we were unhappy by the name of Alice) and we are happy it was taken care of very quickly, but altogether it was a lackluster experience and we will not be going back to any Applebees anytime soon. read more

We got our appetizers, and entrees at the same time and it took over 35 minutes to get my drink that I ordered and when I finally did get it it was wrong. Every time I looked around I would see all of the waitresses by the bar talking. We go here all the time but after tonight I don't think I'll be back for awhile. read more

Well 15 minute wait upon arriving....plenty of seats available, hostess a older lady not friendly at all. She seats us about 10 minutes later, waitress comes, takes drink order, came back took our order....1 hour and 30 minutes the food arrives for just 2 people. The supposedly chicken wings hard as a brick, my husband's steak was nothing but little meat and lots of fat, potatoes was cold, girl cleaning off tables brought us a refill, manager ca.e by in pink sweater asked how things was and I went to say my opinion and my husband nudged my foot under table because he hates when I make a complaint so I kept it to myself, the girl cleaning tables brought us refill and we cleaned up the table of 2 and paid at table and left. After this evening, I will not go back and eat. They need to step their game plan up, put on some smiling faces, interact with customers and a waitress should check on the table for needs more than 2 times. At this writing I can only hope to survive my meal. This, by far, is the dirtiest restaurant I've ever entered. From welcome lobby to restroom, litter was everywhere. Filth embedded in what's left of the thread bare carpet. Every single vacant table was piled with dirty dishes and food lay under tables, including the one that had just been "cleaned" for us. Loved this location. When we came, it was quietly peaceful, like a homey diner with faint clinking of silverware and food prepping. We were seated almost immediately and they put us in a corner booth away from the other tables and next to a window, which was perfect for the two of us and exactly what we wanted. Our server was so friendly and kind, going above and beyond and frequently checking on us, asking to refill our glasses, being attentive and not- pushy, just friendly and doing her job well. I wish I had caught her name so I could give her a shout-out. In fact, all the staff we interacted with were kind, polite, and generally just going to extra mike. Our food came out fast and sizzling hot-obviously freshly made. It was on-par with other applesbees but tasty. Can't say enough good things about this experience, it was a perfect rest and rejuvenation spot on a long road trip. read more

My husband went past the kitchen on the way to the bathroom. Trash running over and floor filthy. Bathroom very dirty. Poor management. I've found that this place is really hit or miss. We came in for a late lunch, and the restaurant was pretty slow. Still, it took a bit to be seated. Then a while longer for the server to get our drink orders. Then a while longer to get those drinks and order. It took a bit over 35 minutes to get our food - a cheeseburger and onion rings, an American club and tomato soup, and a steak with veggies. The burger came out plain, the onion rings cold. The steak, which had been ordered medium, was well-done, and the club was all lettuce and overly cooked bacon. So, that's a kitchen problem. Service was slow, as well, and getting refills took a long time. I've had other ok experiences here, but it's just so random, it's hard to judge what you're going to get. We have two residences. One in Austin, TX and the other in Hurricane, WV. We have gone to this particular Applebees every week for the past year whenever we are at this residence. Probably like most people, we lost interest in Applebees for many years. We then found this location. We gained interest again because the food is consistently good and the prices are reasonable. I always look forward to the Bourdon Street Chicken dinner. I came to the conclusion that Applebees reinvented itself. I became such a fan that I would take our guests to this particular Applebees. So you are probably wondering, "Why only two stars?". That is because of the most bewildering experience at the restaurant today that lacked common reasoning and tact. My wife, sister-in-law, and I went for our weekly visit. My sister-in-law ordered a margartia. She is 50+ years of age. There is no mistaking her for an underaged drinker. The server asked for her ID. That was not the issue. It is what occurred afterward that caused the issue. My senior aged sister-in-law did not have her ID with her. She was refused the drink. That was weird, but still somewhat understandable. My wife did have her ID and ordered herself a margarita. Now for the astonishing event. As we were waiting for our meals, my sister-in-law took a sip of my wife's margarita. The manager must have been monitoring us as she aggressively came to our table and told my sister-in-law in a rude and patronizing tone that she could not take a sip of my wife's margarita. She then abruptly left. I was stunned. The more that I thought about it I decided to discuss the situation with the manager. I asked for her to return to the table. I told her that we understand that she must enforce rules, but we were offended by her tone. We have been regulars for over a year. She stated the law requires her to check all IDs. I stated that is understandable, but never once have any of us been asked for an ID at this location for the past year. She stated that the servers should have asked. I then responded that, based on her response, that they have apparently therefore been breaking the law for the past year. She did not have a good response other than to state, "If you take another sip, I will have to ask you to leave.". We then decided to cancel our orders and leave immediately. The manager did not seem fazed about losing long term customers along with all of the guests that we have brought to the restaurant. Imagine such an exchange with senior aged patrons! Apparently, Applebees took a step too far during its reinvention, at least at this location. They uninvented themselves in our eyes. I can no longer be a customer and can no longer recommend this location despite how good the Bourdon Street Chicken tastes. The customer experience was incredibily disappointing and was void of reasonable consideration. It will be interesting to see if management responses to this review with more than the routine, "That is our policy". A thorough response will need to address the inconsistency in enforcing policy during the past year, the rudeness, and the poor treatment of senior aged patrons who have been loyal regulars. read more

Avoid CarSide to Go if you're in any type of hurry. Ordered food ahead of time for a family of four and was told to arrive in twenty minutes. Arrive at 3:00pm and they acknowledge that we're there. 10 minutes goes by and the nice waitress said she would check for us. Another 10 goes by and another waitress said they'll check on our order. Another five minutes of waiting and we receive our food from a very apologetic employee. We get home with our food and to say it was lackluster would be an understatement. The ribs we got were so dry and over cooked they made an audible ripping sound when pulling them apart. The medium well steak was too raw and needed to be cooked more at home. That's fun! Pasta al dente is normally pretty good but this was pasta not even fully cooked. Chewy and crunchy pasta isn't that delightful. We order food here maybe bimonthly and it's hit or miss. Last time we went there the food was fair. My wife enjoyed her meal, my steak was not cooked to order but decided to just eat it instead of waiting for another steak to be cooked. The biggest thing that left a bad taste in our mouths was the fact that one of the servers, not ours, made a big scene about not receiving a good enough tip. First off the on the yelp page I requested to be seated outside, and Applebees site showed i had requested first available. So we had to wait 20 minutes for a table. Then, took 25 minutes for them to bring out our appitzers and another 20 for food that was overcooked and pasta that was dried out. Food: Inconsistent, but you can strengthen your odds by knowing what to choose on the menu and avoiding certain things. I'll give an example: For starters, go for something simple and tasty that is hard to mess up, like chips & salsa/artichoke dip. Stay away from the steak, because there's maybe a 35% chance it will not be cooked as ordered. I would go with something that is, again, hard to mess up, like the Bourbon Street Chicken & Shrimp. I think I've always been happy with that one. Maybe a pasta dish. Or if you want something more unique the Quesadilla Burger is actually pretty good. Beer selection is lame. Service: Pretty friendly. Fortunately I don't drink a whole lot while I eat, because they were pretty sluggish with refills. Price: Typical. Overpriced for the quality though. Atmosphere: Comfortable, but cramped at times. I mean, at least it's better than FireSide Grille. Pretty average overall. If you know what to avoid, you'll probably leave somewhat satisfied. read more

I remember this place being a decent joint when it first opened. Been nearly five years since I last ate here... Had dinner last night while visiting family and I can't remember the last time I had such a lousy restaurant experience. Took 10+ minutes after being seated before a waiter stopped by to tell us he'd be with us in just a minute... Five later he took our drink orders... Ordered chicken fingers and garlic bread. Chicken was either over cooked or was cooked it really dirty fryer oil. Garlic bread was actually two bland breadsticks with butter dripping off and grill bits clinging to the bottoms. And though the dining room wasn't all that busy, the food came to our table in three phases, and mine died in the window long before it ever got to me. Cole slaw came out warmish. Fries were okay. Evening spent in the restroom was unpleasant. Waiters held drinks and food over our one-year-old's high chair... Had dinner not been on my mother-in-law, waiter would not have been given a proper tip. That said, this will be the last time I eat at Applebee's. read more

This Applebee's has gotten better. Approx a year ago, my husband and I went to Applebee's in the valley and ended up with two terrible meals. Needless to say, my husband refused to go back until a friend invited us out for a meal there. This time the food was really good. I had boneless wings and steak and my husband had chicken fettuccine. Both were excellent. Our friend said he loved their tomato basil soup. We plan to try it again.
