This is a really neat niche café, and bar right off of a little grass airport, Robert Newton field. The food is amazing! I particularly like the fried oysters and they fry these so that they're tender and crispy. They are good on a sandwich roll or just by themselves. It it is nice to find a little slice of paradise along the Ohio. Unfortunately there were no planes flying here today but they fly on the weekends and people even skydive! While I was there, I got to meet the owner, who is a super nice guy. He's worked really hard to create a welcoming environment for planes and RV campers. It is well suited for for anyone, RV drivers, or RV pilots. It is a really nice community and really nice folks. read more

Great unique atmosphere with some of the kindest people you will meet. There is an airpot here private and you can even Skydive. Camp sites you name it. Absolutely recommend this place to anyone visiting or already in the area!!! 1, because -1 isn't an option. Visited on March 21, 2025 to see Lonesome River Band. Purchased tickets ahead of time at $20 a pop. Intended to have dinner before the show, which we did. Got our food 1hr. and 10 min. after ordering. The food was pretty good, service was lousy. After dinner we couldn't get a seat for the show, despite purchasing tickets ahead of time. There were more people in attendance than there were seats. We ended up leaving after a few songs just standing there. A crap load of money that may as well been set on fire. Can't get enough of oysters, not as Florida but close , my only concern is changing the oil more often

They have great seafood. The rainbow trout and sea bass were delicious and oysters for an appetizer. We have never had to wait and always used a credit card and had great service. We take the kids and they always find something that they love as well such as spicy cheese curds, etc. It's great during the days during summer to sit outsit and watch them parachute from the planes at the nearby airport. We really like fly in cafe. It has a relaxed atmosphere. We go for the white fish which is the best in the area. We have eaten at about every seafood restaurant and fly ins white fish is the best. This place has a fully stocked bar. The waiters are super nice and if desired, you can do some skydiving! They also offer live music. read more

Small local restaurant inside the Robert Newlon Airport grounds. Don't forget to bring cash or use their ATM to get cash. There are no signs at the door telling you that they don't accept credit cards. It's diner food, heavy on the fried stuff. Menu has sandwiches, blackened or fried seafood and mostly fried appetizers. There are about 3 salads. NO kids menu. NO lemonade, only sweet and unsweet tea, Coke products, beer and a full bar. Nothing on tap, but a large variety of bottled beer. The shaved rib eye sandwich aka Cessna 195 was delicious, fried catfish bites were ok and the fried green tomatoes was good. The place was busy on a Sunday night. It's plain food and filling. There was a large group there and many couples and families. Our server was awesome. It was busy but he kept up and we were served quickly. We were staying at the rv park and it was so convenient having a restaurant we could just walk to. A great local place we plan to return to again. read more

We came on Sunday evening and it was an awesome evening. Me and my 4 year old daughter split the special which was pecan crusted salmon, fried green tomatoes, & a side salad. She also ordered the sliders. She said that the food was so good it made her "feel like she was at Disney world as a princess" haha. All of this was so so delicious! Ate here Saturday, Feb. 1,2020. First and probably last visit. The 2 stars is based mainly on what I ordered. My husband enjoyed his dinner, he said the shrimp corn chowder was delicious. He had the seafood platter, and said it was good. We ordered a shrimp cocktail as an appetizer. I don't know what they tried to pass off as cocktail sauce, but it was nasty. It looked liked they had opened up a can of tomato paste and poured it in the container. It had ZERO TASTE!!! Couldn't enjoy the shrimp because of the cocktail sauce. I had the steak and crab cake. I gave the crab cake to my husband because it was too fishy tasting for me. The steak was ok, but my dinner certainly wasn't a $$40.00 entree!!! Salad was good. Had to ask for drink refills. Sweet tea wasn't sweet nor did it have a tea taste, more like sugar water. Fried green tomatoes were obviously of the frozen variety, just so-so! read more

Excellent staff, awesome atmosphere and location. Food is horrible. Hamburger has a rank, sweet taste and is a very high fat percentage (cheap), making it quite hard to chew. Fried potatoes are not thoroughly cooked. Cole slaw is good and homemade, though, which is cool. I wanted to like this place, but I can't. Oh, and the kitchen employees are sans glove. read more

Very very slow service and there was only 4 tables occupied, I can't imagine how slow it would be if every table was full. We were seated in front of the kitchen window and I could CLEARLY see the cook eating Lays potato chips and in 99% sure cooking without gloves on. My food came to me wrong and our appetizers came out after our food. I ate the food, hoping that my eyes were deceiving me about the gloves and it was actually good, that's the only reason they got 3 stars. The other people I was with loved their food except for the hush puppies, so food alone is the reason I'm giving 3 stars. read more

Great food, great atmosphere, and decor to die for lol. This was my first time eating there and they recommended the ribs that they slow cook and serve on Thursdays and it was delicious. Reasonable prices and super friendly staff. Good local spot for grabbing drinks or bringing the family for dinner. They have bands on the outdoor patio, but haven't personally experienced that yet. Our server was great! However, the food was not. All of it was room temperature. We got the I got the blackened salmon, mixed veggies (they were way over cooked in oil and dill weed and only squash and zucchini), the rice under the salmon was not fully cooked so it was just half hard rice. My friends oysters and green tomatoes and they were cold. Our shrimp corn chowder was cold :( but the soup was very good and would have been perfect if it were hotter than room temperature. I never received a water refill. For the price this was definitely not worth it and I do not think I'll be returning. read more

The atmosphere is really cool albeit extremely loud. I went here with a large group to celebrate an anniversary so I got to try most of their menu. There were a few hits but many many misses. This doesn't help when everything is priced like a massive hit. Screwing up simple sides like fried potatoes isn't acceptable in my opinion especially after quite a long wait for our food. I wouldn't recommend straying off of the fried seafood beaten path if you find yourself here. But honestly unless you literally flew in don't bother. read more

My husband and I have waited for a long time to try this place. We really wanted to like it. We both got the rib special with baked beans and potato salad. The potato salad was badly in need of seasoning and the beans were way too sweet. The one rib we tried was tender but we couldn't get past the sauce which had the flavor of black licorice. This is my second visit and I had another great meal. I had the surf & turf and it was more food than expected. The shrimp was very tasty with great spices & the steak was decent and big. Everyone has their own taste expectations. My group of 7 people all liked their meals. For a small cafe/bar, I highly recommend it. The place is decorated with lots of aviation related stuff. Average food at an above average price. They don't take credit cards, which is strange in 2016. They have a bar, but nothing on tap, which is strange for a bar. I asked for a black and tan, since they had both Guinness and Bass in bottles, and got a mug with both beers just thrown together. This was our first and last time visiting here !! We got there at 630 ordered around 645. Which they said it wasn't put in until 704. We waited around 1 hour and half for our food and even longer for my 6 year olds and uncles food which they gave them for free.. I never complain about food, I never write reviews. In fact I set up a google account just to share this one .. we spoke to supervisor several times and no discounts were even offered other than the forgotten food that came when we were almost finished. Then after receiving the bill ours had a $10 tip included in the price. This whole experience was not good business and when you take a 4 and 6 year old to dinner and have to wait close to 2 hours for food it is not pleasant. I left feeling very upset that I was there for close to 3 hours and was only offered a $6 free kid burger.. read more

I cannot leave a review, as I sat in the Fly In Cafe on a Friday night with my family for 1 h 15 minutes and were never served food. We were not told there was a 1h 30 min wait for the kitchen when we sat down. We left when the manager said our ticket was served to another table and it would be another 20 minutes. She said we should expect to wait at a place like this. Our kids were starving and they would not expedite the kids' meals. Our waiter was the bartender and did not give us the attention that the serving staff member would have, but he was neutrally pleasant and looked like he was working hard. Then we ate somewhere else. They offer you an ATM and it will cost you an extra $3 to pay your bill. So....take cash with you to pay your bill!!
