The menu here runs deep on both burgers and beers, plenty of options if you want to build your own kind of monster, but I didn't need to look past that one. I stick to the patties and cheese myself, no bun, no fries, and even stripped down to just the meat, this burger was unbelievably flavorful and juicy. A full pound of beef done exactly right. The place has a casual sports-bar feel, easy to relax in, nothing fussy about it. Service was attentive and quick, no waiting around, no chasing anyone down for a refill. And for the size and quality of what showed up on the plate, the price felt like a genuine deal. I didn't walk away feeling like I overpaid for the portion. I didn't plan on writing a review when we sat down. That burger changed my mind. If I'm ever back through Barboursville, I'm going straight back to Oscar's, no hesitation.

I think everyone else had the same idea because it was packed but luckily we did not have a long wait. We could not tell if this was a restaurant or a brewery because it was set up restaurant style but they made their own drinks in house. I ordered the truffle fries and they were amazing! They also gave you a lot of sauce to dip them in which I can appreciate. They were some of the best fries I've had.

We came on the best night evidently because we were greeted with the vision of prime rib through the window and it looked and smelled delish!!!!! I love the atmosphere....its cozy, small hometown feel and I'm all for it. The staff was so nice and friendly. They have a wide variety of items on the menu. We wanted some good comfort food so we both settled for different varieties of the Mac & cheese. I ordered Chicken & Broccoli and my sister ordered the Cajun Chicken. This isn't your run of the mill Mac & Cheese. It's silky, savory and scrumptious. Don't let the outer appearance fool ya....this food was top notch & I'm kinda of a food snob. So if I had to describe the Huntington Ale House I would say it's like you're favorite pair of jeans, a little worn but hugs your body the best and fits just right. I will definitely be back for the Peanut Butter Chicken & Waffles.

Bare Arms is part indoor gun range, part BBQ diner, and fully unique. Even though it was close to closing, Whitney took incredible care of us. She greeted us like we were her first table of the day, not her last. Service was fast, friendly, and exactly what we needed after a long stretch on the road. The food? Legit. The pulled pork nachos were stacked high with fresh toppings and absolutely drenched in an amazing cheese sauce that deserves a fan club. We also grabbed a side of mac & cheese, rich, creamy, and just the right size. Everything came out hot and fast, which made it perfect for travelers needing a solid meal without a long wait. The vibe inside? Patriotic, quirky, and full of personality. Think vintage military posters, wood-paneled walls, and a dash of pin-up flair. It walks the line between roadside kitsch and local pride in the best way possible. We'd absolutely stop again. And just for the record--no, the waitress didn't look like the ones in the posters... but she was way cooler.

I must admit when we first saw the place we thought it might be a strip joint. But we were pleasantly surprised inside. Very patriotic themes, great for an old Marine Grunt. We were there for an early dinner so not real busy but more people came after we sat. Ashley, our terrific server, brought menus and we looked over the great selections. My wife asked for a suggestion, as she frequently does, and was told the Bombshell Salad with Grilled Chicken was the "bomb", so she ordered it. I decided on the Ribs and Shrimp Basket after spotting that on another table. While we waited I walked around and took pictures and wandered into the next door area which turned out to be a gaming room and late night bar. I admit I only glanced in, not wanting to see any "Bombshells." Shortly our food came. Her Salad was fantastic! Ashley really suggested the perfect dish for her. The chicken was grilled perfectly and Salad was chilly and crisp. My Ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and delicious, with a little heat thanks to hot sauce on the side. The Fried Shrimp was very good, just a bit more batter than I like. All in all, service was great, food was very good, ambiance was quiet and interesting, and food was very good. Check it out!

The cheeseburger was juicy but did have a slight unpleasant cow flavor. The milkshake was thick, sugary, and a perfect pair to the food. I highly recommend and would totally eat here again!

I recently spent some time with my dad in southern Ohio, and I said, hey, let's go get some lunch. He asked if I wanted to go to a chain, I said, no, I want a mom and Pop place. He goes I know a great place to go. Now, I have been by this place, hundred million times as I used to run around in and around Greenup county Kentucky. When you open the door, you're going to see a collection of older people/younger people/middle-aged people having lunch and catching up on the gossip. I may be biased, but the English that is spoken in western West Virginia/Eastern Kentucky/ southern Ohia is the best there ever was. Ambiance of Gerbers was very tastefully decorated with stuff you would find in a country home, literally everywhere. I'm not complaining, I'm just letting you know what to expect when you come to my neck of the woods. The people are extremely nice, even the patrons there are very nice. Me and Dad got the meatloaf special which consisted of green beans mashed potatoes with gravy and a two grilled rolls (which were heiners, toasted with butter.) DELISH!! I got the blackberry cobbler with two scoops of ice cream, and I am telling you, that was the best I have had in a very long time.! if you're ever down that way, go in and try it out, you won't be disappointed

Situated in the old Frederick Hotel, this eatery is a magical throwback to the early 60's with red leather, dark paneling and a chair rail featuring an elephant walk! Our dinner choices were relatively straightforward, but the food was outstanding. We started with a nice side Caesar salad with fresh Romain lettuce, fresh croutons, shaved Parmesan and a perfect amount to dressing. My entree was the Fried Shrimp platter. The shrimp were absolutely fresh, huge and butterflied perfectly. A light but tasty breading with a side of spicy cocktail sauce made it even better. French fries and glazed sliced carrots made for perfect sides. My dining partner opted for fresh grilled salmon, perfectly seasoned and done to perfection. Fresh broccoli and risotto were just the right compliments. Dessert was an in-house prepared chocolate gnash mousse - dense, rich and velvety, and served as the perfect was to finish the meal. Finally, the service was excellent. And we had a chance to chat with owner Mark Cross, who has presided over this establishment for 23 years. Mark was a delight to meet, and takes great care and pride in providing a top notch experience. If your travels bring you to Huntington, do yourself a favor and dine mat this historic gem!!
