8/2019: Again, bad service. Love the food! Girl at the front made one of the kid's turkey subs wrong. I told her it says no cheese. She says, to my face, "it's just cheese. So?". Lol. Typical entitled snot. Anyway, I laughed at her and pulled the cheese off, leaving it on the counter. We really do love the food here, but at this point, the service is so bad it's impossible to continue being a customer. Owner needs to fire everyone, including manager and start over. 2/2019: Okay, kids meals now have any drink. However, the prices have gotten to be RIDICULOUSLY high. This place costs as much as Jersey Mike's now, which renders them equal is choice. They raised their prices on all sandwiches, kids meals included AND they charge $2.99 to make it a meal. Really? $20 for 1 adult sandwich meal and 1 kid's meal? That's just absurd for sandwiches I can make at home. If I had my 3 kids and husband it would have cost over $40....for a walk up counter lunch?????? I can go to a sit down for the same price. 12/2018: Why are kids meals only allowed milk now? Milk containers polite the environment. Also, not all kids like milk. Change this option b 7/2017: DO NOT use Yelp Eat24 & your order is quicker. 2pm on a Saturday & it took 25 minutes not counting the 7 minutes we had from ordering until walking in door. BUT sandwiches are always delicious!!! 5/2017: Love the concept of this place. However, I ordered 2 subs through Yelp online. There was no one in line or ahead of me when I arrived. I ordered a drink, used the restroom, and came out to 3 people in line. All 3 people received their sandwiches before I received mine. This was unacceptable. What Yelp said would take 9 minutes ended up taking 15, simply because they prioritized the sandwiches although the cashier knew I was standing there waiting. But, I like their mission so I'm giving them 4 instead of 3 stars. I hate poor customer service though. read more

15-20 mins waiting for our 2 sandwiches... Well that was the first disappointment of coming in. I wouldn't have minded the wait so much since we were busy watching the US Open Match on their TV. If they had just acknowledged us and kept us in the loop, like hey were out of meatballs were making a new batch now, that Prolly would have been awesome to know instead of sitting clueless. Disappointment number 2... As soon as I close the door to our car I could smell the horrific smell of cheese(we can't stand cheese)... So I open the bag to find my meatball sandwich covered in cheese. Now my wait becomes even longer for them to correct my order. I will say that they were more then understanding that the order had been messed up and gladly made us another sandwich. Then my first order took 15-20 mins were my remake order only took 3-5 minutes.... I guess the original wait time could be acceptable if the food came out the way we had ordered it. Not too far from my office so I go for lunch fairly regularly. I typically prefer local sandwich shops over the big chains, but I love this place. A buddy of mine from Jacksonville, FL (where the franchisor is based) literally celebrated when Firehouse opened this location, which I thought was strange at the time. No longer. Love the steamed subs. The bread is soft and tasty, the meats are flavorful and you can actually taste the cheeses. I usually get the Hook & Ladder (smoked turkey, ham, and melted jack) or the Premium Roast Beef (with melted provolone). Their branded BBQ sauce rocks too - you gotta try it on the sandwich. Squirt it on as you eat. Awesome. I left off the 5th star only because I don't like their loyalty program. You only get a punch if you get the sandwich, chips AND drink - I drink water so I never want the drink. And there is seriously an old-school punch card. Firehouse should man up and computerize their loyalty program so they scan customers' keychains like everyone else and give credit for dollars spent rather than insist implicitly that to be loyal enough to participate you have to do the combo every time. My Sandwhich was okay. Not much better than subway. I was excited to try there mac and cheese and they gave it to me cold! I warmed it up and it tasted so fake. I don't recommend. I like Firehouse Subs especially that they help firefighters. I pretty much always get the Hook and Ladder sandwich. This location was really busy so I had to wait a bit for my food. Noticed this place when I was on vacation and Tx but it wasn't open yet so a few months later when I saw it open in Oceanside I was excited to stop in! I would say I have had a fair share of experiences at sandwich places whether it is a chain or mom and pop shop and this place was A-ok. It wasn't horrible but the pricing was a little high and there is no creativity in making your sandwich. All the sandwiches are set in a style and when I asked to alter it some I was told that they wouldn't recommend any changes and so I had to stick with exactly what was listed. What I ordered: That Italian: Genoa salami, pepperoni, ham, melted provolone, Italian dressing, and seasonings, served Fully Involved. About 8.75 with a bag of sea salt chips. Regular size. The unique and cool thing about this place is the cool Coca Cola machine. I for one and not a fan of Coke at all but this machine rocks! There are tons of flavors of Coca Cola brand drinks that you can mix and match as you please. I made my drink with Coca Cola Vanilla, Cherry Limeade, and Orange Fanta. It quinched my thirst. So...all in all as of coming here again I probably would just for a refreshing drink and choose my other favorite places for a sandwich. It was clean and then had a good selection of sandwiches. Tons of different hot sauce to sample which was fun. Service was a bit slow. Waited 17 min for a the sandwich and then they came out with the wrong sandwich. They made a new one right away but it came out wrong as well. I wanna give some back story before I give my most recent visit a review: I've been to this location a few times in the last year all spread out throughout the seasons and every time its almost the same thing... you wait at least a minimum of 30 mins for 1-2 subs, I'm sorry but that's insane I've had full steak dinners brought out quicker than that, its not a complex thing its a sandwich so I'm just really lost in how that's a thing I'd be happy for open discussion on why EVERYTIME its like that. Maybe there a sandwich science I'm just not aware of. I'd encourage management to set timers behind that counter and have those recorded so you can see why so many people are repeating this same thing in reviews because the time it takes to get a sandwich is ridiculous. Now on the matter of management, I've seen and noticed the manager who runs the place he's a more "bulky" guy with a face of almost depression (or just depression), excuse the description, but that's all he gives off EVERYTIME. This is almost as big as a problem as the timing it takes to make a sandwich, you have someone who is suppose to lead the place staring off into space while chaos ensues, while you have a bunched line waiting to give their food orders and people who have been waiting in total question of "whats going on??" it's as if he could careless and just does his jolly old thing... which isssss??? (I'm still trying to figure it out myself.) Instead of stepping up to the plate he will leave entirely to the back for long periods of time or sit behind the counter head down... again doing what?? Looks to be nothing right at the register. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but when its busy and you are a manager at any place isn't your role to be in front of the line leading charge? Not scurrying to the back hiding or standing, staring into space ignoring the customers at the register that have been there for 15 mins without even a HELLO?... Okay with that little backstory and my current knowledge of the location now I can give you my review (and spoilers: nothing changes if anything its worse.) I was going to lunch with my coworker and she decided on "firehouse subs." and "BAM!" instantly I thought oh no we will be in there for 30 mins!! :c, but my stomach told me YESsssssss. I couldn't resist plus it was her last day here before she moves and goes remote so firehouse it was. I methodically told myself well as long as we order online and do the "Rapid" pick up we will be okay then right??........ VERY WRONG. We ordered just around 10:50 walked in the store at 11 and walked out at 11:45... lets do some math here because Idk if the actual people working there understand what that means, We waited from actually ordering, a total of 55 mins for a grand total of 2 subs, count em 2! that's almost 30 mins each sub! I was baffled to say the absolute least because by the time we got back we had to scarf down our subs just to clock back into work on time.. And heres the kicker we saw about 4 people leave with sandwiches ( who ordered in house obviously way after we did online) before I had to go up and tell the SAME manager (Idk how he's still there, I'm convinced he's the owners friend) "hey are we still making that order??" to get ignored, then asked again, waited....... "Ummm yeah its being made" which was hard enough to hear when you're telling the floor that! and not even looking at me lol my god not even a "sorry for the wait, we're on it" then mumbled an excuse of "well you guys walked in at 11"... WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??? we ordered almost an hour ago.. there was like 3 people in there when we came in, literally 0 excuse only to solidify the conclusion of poor management and personable skills. There were 2 people waiting at the counter for over 15 mins not a single peep was spoken to them, can they get a "We'll be right with you" I was damn near close to say it myself and even at the very end right when we get the bag someone storms out right behind us and for good reason, they sat there for 15 mins to then be told there's a 40 min wait time (which is more like an hour but yeah besides the point). Say that as they come in, com'on! All in all I have to say FireHouse subs is TRULY wasting time and money on this manager who is not fit to run this establishment and on top of that losing customers at the same time, because I will honestly not be returning to that location ever again and this is the closest one we have for over 10 miles... time and time again I've had to learn the hard way here, but this time they took it to far with the unprofessional work ethic and that is scaring this guy away for good. read more

I have been a customer for the past 3 years at this location and have never had 1 problem, but now I am continually disappointed. Last time I tried to call an order in- it wrang for 3 minutes, nobody ever answered. This time, today I called in. It wrang for a solid minute before anyone picked up. Ordered 2 medium sandwiches at 1:05 PM they told me it would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes. I got there and paid at 1:16 PM then I stood there another 25 minutes and waited for my sandwiches to be finished. After I finally had to ask a second time, they said "oh they're sitting here ready!" The staff is excellent. The food is so freaking good (the Firehouse Steak and Cheese is off-the-charts good - and I don't even like, or typically EVER eat red meat). The store is immaculately clean, including the restrooms. The staff even checked on us during our meal by stopping to ask how our meal was, and he even helped clean our table. I ate here for my first time and loved it! I ordered one of their under 500 calorie sandwiches and turned it into one of their subs. I was also asked to round up my order to support the local Oceanside first responders FF group and I was glad to do it. The facility was very clean and well-kept. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous with helping me with the menu and what I wanted to order. Timing-wise, the food took about 15 minutes. I had never been to this location or tried one of their subs before. I went to this place today. The service was so horrible, I'll never go back. The person who took the order barely acknowledged me, and when I tried to place an order....the register wasn't ready. Perhaps he was frustrated about that. Regardless, he was not very friendly. I ordered "combo", and I had to ask for what size cup. Then he grumpily handed it to me. The person who finished making the sandwich was also not-so-pleasant. I ordered online for the first time. It gave me a 20 minute wait time. When I get the the shop it's super packed with a team of players. The guy before me picking up his "Rapid Rescue to go" order was told he'll have to wait another 20 minutes. He left after a few minutes. Then, when I got up to the counter and after 5 minutes of being ignored, one of the employees looked up to me and I let him know I was there to pick up my order. He then mouths to me, "15-20 minutes". I understand being super busy and having to wait, but website times should reflect the order of demand. I waited an accumulative time of 40 minutes. Poor customer service. I ordered online and when we went to pick up the food, they forgot to give us the salad that we bought and paid for. When I called, they said it was my fault because they put the salad in the fridge. Somehow I am supposed to do their job for them and remind them to give me the food that I paid for. The price is a little on the upper side but the good is worth it. The menu has something for everyone. There is plenty of seating inside and they offer some outside seating as well. I've been to this place 3 times. And all 3 times I have had a less than pleasant experience. The first time...was on my birthday. Really, I just wanted my free birthday sub. It turns out you get a free drink and chips along w/ your free birthday sub. Was I offered the free drinks and chips? No. This I only found out, after I placed my order and the cashier didn't even offer to tell me. They then proceeded to take 15min. to make my sandwich. To end all things, they got my order wrong. I asked for my order to be "fully loaded"...there was nothing but meat and cheese in it. There were 4 people working behind the counter during this visit. I don't think it should take 4 people, 15min to make 1 sandwich wrong. The second and third times...the service was slow, the workers had a sarcastic or un-proffesional attitude. And guess what? My sandwiches were delivered to me wrong again. I have never dined-in because I really can't stand the environment. I think it's only appropriate that a place called firehouse have an expansive amount of cooling and refreshing beverages on tap. Honestly you could come here just for the drinks, they've got coke products I've never even seen before. Dasani sensations, cherry limeade, peach sprite and these are just 2 things mixed these are actual refined coke products. I'm not up to date on this history, but Firehouse seems fairly put together, definitely not a mom & pop sandwich shop with a décor, vibe, consistent training and experience of a franchise worthy establishment. This is not a deli, this is not a place to get more than a sub, a pickle, a cookie, a drink and a bag of chips. Much like jersey mike's they have an amazing product that you can tell they've refined over the years. The roll's are fresh, the rolls and soft and supportive and don't fall apart like some subs. The subs are a good size with plenty of filling to it, so you're not getting and all bread sandwich with little substance, but proportionally everything is showcased. Fully Involved means you get mayo, mustard, lettuce, tomato, onion and a dill spear on the side. It's an option on anything you get here. I'm a big fan of the box lunches "Deluxe Lieutenant" The deluxe means 2 meats and 2 cheese versus standard is 1 meat. Chips, pickle, and a cookie, oh and fully involved too. If I'm going for 1 of their signature sandwiches I like the hook and ladder, meatball and turkey bacon ranch. Notice I didn't choose any of the corned beef brisket or pastrami sandwiches. Not that I don't like them I just prefer a sandwich with those meats build NY delicatessen style versus a more common sub sandwich sytle. Not that you couldn't get it that way, but the bread itself is all wrong. If they ever decide to do a corned beef, roast beef, pastrami deli style sandwich on marble rye I'll be all over it. A small menu considering, but a throwback personality. Their hot sauce is substantial. Similar to the habanero for heat, but it has a much fruitier, sweeter taste. It's almost subdued and tricky in that the sweetness tricks you into thinking it's less hot than it is. I like mixing it in ranch and use it for dipping the bacon ranch sub into it for extra kick and extra ranch, the ranch tames some of the heat. read more

So this is my first time eating at Firehouse Subs. I was a bit skeptical when they had first moved here because I have issues eating at places I don't frequent. That and the fact that when I was looking at their menu, they insisted they were better than any sandwich place. Okay! Cool. I tend to dislike places that are full of themselves but hey, I was interested so I told myself I would try it some other time. Tonight was that time. My husband and I walk in. The environment is very nice and clean. A little too bright for me but I won't knock them for that. The reds, blacks and whites were very well balanced in my opinion. Anyway, on to the menu. Today I wanted BBQ. And sure enough they had a BBQ sandwich! That was exciting for me. So I ordered the 'Smokehouse Beef and Cheddar Brisket' while my husband ordered the 'Engineer Sub.' Now to sit down and wait. I have to give them props for the Coca Cola Freestyle drink machine. I've never seen one before and it was the most exciting machine I had seen in a food place. It supposedly has 120+ brands and flavors. I settled on trying their Cherry Limeade. I'll admit, it isn't as good as Sonic's Cherry Limeade but it's pretty good. No carbonation though. After getting our drink and sitting down we looked at their menu for a bit and after about 10 minutes we received our food. It was neatly arranged and looked super tasty. Looked. Did I mention I ordered a beef and CHEDDAR brisket? Oh, we'll, it certainly didn't come with the cheddar part. It had a LOT of the beef but barely any cheese. It was also very dry. Like eating semi moist paper. The BBQ sauce was the only flavor and it was extremely over powering. To be completely honest I couldn't finish the sandwich at all. I really wanted the cheese with it. That would have made it a little better at least. On to my husband's sandwich. The turkey was SUPER dry. And look at this-- they skimped him on the cheese as well. He couldn't even tell there was supposed to be swiss on it. And the mushrooms? They were canned (weren't they supposed to be sautéed?) mushrooms with no taste what-so-ever. They were an awful shade of yellow and green as well... TL;DR: I'd come here for the drink machine but not to eat a sandwich again. I would rather recommend you to Gandolfo's on Rancho Del Oro. You get higher quality food and a larger portion for the same price as the crap I got. I feel like the only good thing about Firehouse Subs is that you are donating to burn victims.
