Frosty Grout sample we chose with them. It was significantly darker. They failed to do a test area according to manufacturers directions.
    Kathleen T.

Title: Fireclay Botched Our Shower Installation -- Now, we're left with a mess We chose Fireclay Tile for our shower renovation, purchasing their 3x12 Egret glass tile along with installation services and insurance. What we got was a failed install, a grout color that didn't match the sample, and a company unwilling to take real responsibility. Fireclay performed the installation themselves and provided installation insurance, which gave us initial confidence. But they didn't even follow their own installation guidelines, which clearly state to follow all manufacturer-recommended procedures for grout and to conduct a small test area before proceeding. They skipped that step entirely. They used Laticrete Frosty grout, which looked nothing like the sample shown during the design process. When we raised concerns, Fireclay admitted the issue and offered to "fix" it by painting the grout with Laticrete Refresh colorant. The sample board they provided matched -- and we were initially relieved -- until we read the fine print and learned that the product is not rated to hold up long term in wet areas like showers. Worse, their sample application was sloppy, with paint streaking onto adjacent tiles. We declined the fix. Bottom line: Fireclay self-insures, takes consumers' money, and fails to back it up with quality or accountability. Their CEO, Eric Edelson addressed our concern and stated: "Our job was too small to do a mockup grout test, that is reserved for larger jobs." This isn't just bad service -- it's deceptive. we will be pursuing legal action. Our bathroom still isn't finished from this sh__t show. No other contractors want to touch their mess. Beautiful tile means nothing if it's installed incorrectly, and the company won't stand behind it. Fireclay failed us -- and they may fail you too. So much for their "Satisfaction Guaranteed."

    Before installation.

We had a unique project--a floor-to-ceiling gas fireplace with a built-in bench, needing a refresh. Tricia's warmth and expertise in the showroom made choosing Fireclay easy, and their in-house installers were a huge plus. She set clear expectations on the entire process. David provided helpful renderings and updates, even allowing us to start early. We chose Cardamom in 2x8 for a vertically tiled column to bring an earthy, organic feel to the space. When demo revealed the bench had to stay and there was a question of whether or not the overage would cover it, Ivan and Adrian skillfully adapted, making it work beautifully through some mix of math and magic. Their calm, expert approach was reassuring. Fredy handled the grout seamlessly and was a pleasure to work with--despite our mischievous puppy! We initially worried about pricing, but Fireclay's team was competitive, very pleasantly stress-free, and a joy to work with from start to finish. We are so happy with the result.

Fireclay team did a really good job on our bathroom. Below are a few things that stood out: 1. The showroom experience was top notch and we really appreciated all of the assistance we received from Kristen. She went above and beyond with our complex situation to get the tile selected and delivered in no time at all. 2. Martin and the installation crew assisted us with the situation we faced, helping us to remediate poor workmanship by the previous contractor. The continued helping us after tile installation when contractor damaged the tiles while installing the vanity. 3. They use pretty superior materials, from boards to waterproofing. The crew was communicative and worked with homeowners on the tile layout. 4. Most importantly, they showed up every day on time and left the job site spotless. They demonstrated a lot of respect to our property which was such an amazing experience compared to what we had to deal with before. It was a breath of fresh air working with the Fireclay - from showroom experience, design, bid and tile installation. We are happy with how the bathroom turned out!

Fireclay was great to work with from start to finish. Luis did the install and he paid attention to every detail. Really great communication - timely - and we loved having a design rendering provided to help us make our choices. Highly recommend.

She sat back for a full 10 minutes and gave it serious thought before she made recommendations that were spot on in terms of style, function, and budget * Jennifer was highly collaborative, courteous, and humorous, stayed calm at all times, and was very reassuring. She's honest but diplomatic if you've made a selection she thinks you won't be happy with. * Jennifer was knowledgeable about her own inventory as well as products they don't even carry so she could compare them for you * When asked, she was quite honest about the quality of each fixture (frequency of problems and number of returns), and the integrity of the manufacturer (do they stand behind their products). This is information you can't get doing an internet search * Jennifer's estimates of delivery dates were 100% accurate. Some items even came in early. * Jennifer clearly identified which fixtures were returnable without a restocking fee (standard in-stock items) and which were not returnable (custom orders) * Excel Plumbing is open on Saturdays. Many plumbing supply houses are not * The average discount over the entire order was substantial for the fixtures we bought, and was better than that offered by any other showroom In addition to all of that, Jennifer understands the emotional toll from renovations and reduces concerns where she can: * Your home is in chaos and daily routines are disrupted (she can't help you there) * The wide selection of brands can be daunting (she helps you cut through the clutter of information, and whittle down the options) * You are concerned about making costly mistakes (she helps you make choices with confidence and can also point you towards products that can be returned without penalty) * You might feel urgency to get the renovation done before holiday guests arrive (she can tell you which items are in stock and if not in stock, which manufacturers' estimated delivery dates are reliable) * Your contractor may be pressing you towards products you don't want or like (she can help you identify alternative products you do like) Jennifer has our highest recommendation.

Amazingly, our major project was completed exactly on time and essentially on budget, even though we ran into some unexpected challenges with the design (not done by Mission) that could have derailed it. The issues that came up were handled quickly and thoughtfully, and several of their suggestions genuinely improved the final design. One thing that really stood out was the team's honesty--any mistakes (inevitable/expected on a project of this size) were acknowledged immediately and addressed without hesitation, which is something other contractors sometimes struggle with. It's definitely important to stay involved, but we felt comfortable being away for long periods and trusted Dan to keep things moving smoothly. There were times when dust/debris reached areas outside the active work zone, but the crew made sure everything was thoroughly cleaned by the end. All in all, we would enthusiastically recommend Mission to anyone considering a major renovation or addition. Thank you Dan and the rest of the team!

I think it's important folks know…read moreabout this experience so see below: ______________________ I had such a bad experience with Mission Home which I know will look bonkers given the 5 star reviews. I was definitely persuaded by these reviews - and now will question every business that has 5 star reviews. Do your homework and don't be fooled. Project took much longer than what it should have because they were disorganized and would forget certain things (the foreman would even admit that the PM should have told me certain things!) that I would have imagined a contractor had down pat in terms of sequencing. They use some subcontractors and you are at the mercy of their schedules. They just are not organized (you will do a lot of the reminding, checking in, following up, and certain things still may not happen). They failed inspections meaning more cost (it is their job to pass these! It says this in any contract!) If it seemed as though I was questioning something, the PM got defensive and sometimes unprofessional, gaslighting me in a very aggressive manner. I saved the communication, in fact. The people I worked with directly were young and it showed in the almost-too-casual style of communication and lack of professionalism. I surrendered towards the end and just wanted the project done and everyone gone. I feel completely foolish that I went with the significantly higher estimate thinking it would offer a smooth, superior experience. The actual people who did the work worked hard though and did nice work - hence the two stars. But at the end of the day, it's actually hard to enjoy the work as I am reminded by the months of bad experiences - up to the very end. You can find more experienced contractors out there for equal quality of workmanship and for a more competitive price. I am using a different contractor now for other work at the property - it's a 180 degree difference - they have a dedicated team for my project, meaning time to completion is more accurate and on time; they have a dedicated person to procure the finishes and fixtures, not myself; they are way more organized and even provided me a timeline of what to expect and communicate with me what time they are showing up and what progress was made that day (!!); they are bringing a truly expert eye with attention to detail that ELEVATES the space and are teaching me to ask things I didn't even know I should KNOW to ask; and most importantly, I feel truly comfortable asking questions without defensiveness and aggressive steamrolling in their answers. I received none of this level of care or expertise with MHR, and I want you to know that you should expect these things!!!

The showroom is well laid out, two floors, attractive, not confusing, with a range of prices from, say, Delta, Moen and Kohler to higher end brands.
