    New shower walls and niche
    Philip D.

Rolando did an amazing job. We had him do our kitchen, bathroom, and shower walls. The Tile work was excellent, but what makes the biggest difference is that Rolando knows how to work in condo buildings in SF. His communication was excellent, he has all the proper insurance and can jump through the HOA hoops. He also goes above and beyond to protect common areas and keep the neighbors happy. Also when my plumber dropped the ball, he called in a favor from his plumber and kept the job on track. Ultimately Rolando finished the job ahead of schedule with no surprises (outside of the plumber, that wasn't his fault) and when you have a Condo with 1 bathroom, schedule is very important. Getting done early is even better. Thank you Rolando!

Just adding a photo of the bathroom and fireplace tile and countertops to my review. Rolando is worth every penny

Rolando Fonseca did a great job for us. We wanted to replace our bathroom's cracked ceramic tile floor, remove a bidet. and install a fancy automated Japanese toilet. Fonseca's meticulously replaced the tile and subflooring so that the new tile levels out beautifully with the adjacent flooring. The existing woodwork, which had Victorian detailing, was removed and reinstalled seamlessly. The electrician and plumber were scheduled very efficiently so that the entire process, including drywalling and painting, took only 10 days. Due to smart scheduling and excellent daily cleanup our lives were minimally disrupted, and we are very pleased with the result.

    Beautiful tile work!

Rolando just rocks! I had a small bathroom that I wanted to put a deep tub in, new tub tiling, new floor tiling, new faucets, & Nuheat. His quote wasn't as low as others, but I could tell he really cares about his work, so I hired him. The quality of his work is top notch. He and his guys are reliable, clean, organized, meticulous, and thorough. We did run into a few issues (they accidentally went through the floor of the bathroom/ceiling of my kitchen when they were working on installing the tub), and we found that one of the fixtures I bought had a defect. In the end, Rolando took care of all issues to full satisfaction. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Rolando again for another project. Feel free to contact me if you want more info! (I posted two photos of my completed bathroom to this Yelp entry...)

Rolando is really the best. I had a large, difficult, tricky, and time sensitive bathroom tiling job that needed to be completed. Rolando promptly came back to me with the best creative SOLUTION , best PRICE, and best TIMELINE. Not only were the result phenomenal, he and his team were super friendly, accommodating, punctual, communicative, and professional. Highest praise to Rolando and team.

Rolando just did another outstanding job for me. He and his team are professional, timely and courteous. My new Carreras bathroom floor, vanity and toilet are beautiful. I highly recommend Rolando if you need tile work done. He is the best.

    Nelson's shower by Fonseca

First off, I want to acknowledge that we found Fonseca Marble and Tile on Yelp! Secondly, the pictures of the shower stall I have posted is the work of Rolando. The one with the 2-tone Porcelain Eco-Friendly tiles, multi-colored glass floor. Rolando Fonseca, who is the owner is not your ordinary tile contractor. I'd like to point out a few points that made our decision to use his services. #1) His shoes were off before we opened our front door upon meeting him for the first time! Point is, is that he cares about your home as if it were his own. He has respect for the largest investment in our lives, our sanctuary. Each work day, coverings were brought in to cover the floors. Work space was always tidy and cleaned up after the end of each day. Shop Vac was always present and "on." #2) He listens and explains! Unlike most contractors who think they know everything, Rolando has the patience to listen to what you want. If there is a question, and I had A LOT of them, he will answer them and make sure you understand the answer and also are satisfied with any explanation of the work performed. He is detail oriented. #3) He's always on time. Each work day was on schedule with what was promised and explained. If he were running late because of traffic, he will call to let you know. My time was never wasted. His dedicated staff (Eduardo & Enrique) do not speak much English, but they know what to do and take direction very well from Rolando. Execution was spot on. #4) Rolando is "hands-On" if needed. He knows what his staff is capable of and what their limits are. When it came to the detailed glass tile work required on our design, he came in to "do it himself." He has great pride in the work required. He always emphasized that if the work is not according to the agreement, changes will be made to correct them. Although we never had that situation. #5) Aside from his excellent work ethics, Rolando is a "foodie!" He is quite knowledgeable of the SF food scene. He knows quite a few high-end restaurant owners. I assume it's because he has done quite a bit of commercial work for these establishments. Overall, we are very happy with the work from Fonseca Marble and Tile. We did our due diligence to interview 3 contractors and we have had personal experiences in the past with other contractors. He is the BEST we have worked with. We did not choose Rolando because of price. We chose him because we always believe you get what you pay for. Lastly, his dedicated plumber and Shower Glass company are also great!! Please enjoy the pictures because we are very proud of our new Master Shower!!

"Go fuck yourself!" is the last of several outbursts yelled at me by handyman Michael Andrews…read more He was hired to replace 2 rotted deck boards and repair dry rot on my threshold. At the preliminary meeting, I asked him how much he charged but he would only say, "I will be fair, and I will work with you," waving away my question. I mentioned I did not want to be charged for chatter, as he loves to talk. The oak threshold was warped and had to be exchanged. The 2 porch floor boards were also warped. It took him 3 hours to remove and replace 2 boards, which he did competently. Then he tried to install the new threshold, which was too thick for the space, as the door would not close. We noted the original threshold was not rotted; only the narrow horizontal strip abutting the threshold had rot. I asked several times that he use the old threshold, but he refused, instead trying several time consuming maneuvers, including removing carpet tacking, cutting the edges of the oak threshold, and trying to shim an already too thick threshold. Finally he was about to plane the oak when I protested again. He got increasingly more angry with me for asking he use the original threshold. Finally he waved me away, saying, "Get out of here, I am the professional." When I did not retreat as "commanded," he said, "I don't like you!" Soon after, he made a strange and uninvited attempt to hug me, only to regain his rage when I again requested using the original threshold. He slammed down his tools and left, returning with an additional board to shim the new threshold, which also failed. He finally agreed to reinstall the original threshold and replace only the dry rotted strip, which should have taken 30 minutes (see photos). His bill was $350 plus materials. He finally advised me he charged $85 per hour. We settled on $250, which I thought was excessive, but I was glad the ordeal was over. Later that day, I went out to prime the replaced strip, only to find the vertical door frame abutting the threshold was dry rotted as well. Photos show rotted area, which I cleaned out. He either did not notice or did not bother to advise me. He came over the next morning to see the damage, and began by yelling that he did not appreciate my accusing him of not addressing the additional dry rot. Naturally, I have hired someone else to complete the job. I am a 74 year old woman, and if I did not have better things to do, I would consider reporting him to the CSLB for elder abuse. Anyone who hires him needs to insist on an upfront estimate of charges, guard against his chatter adding to the time charged, and make sure that his work has been completed satisfactorily.
