Mauricio did a great job replacing the wooden frame around a sliding glass door. He needed to remove several inches of stucco around the frame's edge to properly install a water-containment membrane. His partner did the replacement stucco to exactly match the texture of the existing stucco--it was literally seamless. At each stage of the work, Mauricio explained what he was doing and why. Before that, he did smaller jobs for me such as replacing all and installing new prehung doors (steel entry door and all bedroom/ bathroom doors with new locksets), baseboard, trim, and closet doors. For my kitchen and bathroom, I did most of the demolition then it was all Mauricio and he took it from there. A bit of new framing and subfloor repair was needed which was also done. Other things that he and his team did: relocate a few heater ducts/ vents ,new shelving in closets, and interior painting. He's a carpenter by trade so he worked on the door and he managed two painters who refreshed our orangey oak cabinets. After doing a walkthrough with 4 contractors, his price and his duration were the best. He's responsive and will not try to recommend expensive solutions. I couldn't find the exact hinges for our old cabinets, so he had to fix some doors that didn't line up correctly. read more

I was looking at several contractors to do a kitchen renovation. I also wanted to replace my floor tiles in my front door area. Level Carpentry was the one that was the easiest to communicate with as they responded to my messages promptly. Mauricio of Level Carpentry visited my place and took measurements. As it was my first time doing a renovation and working with a general contractor, he walked me through the process. He made sure I understood that his job would only be installation and that I would purchase all the materials (cabinets, countertop, backsplash, cooktop, microwave, and floor tiles). He was very straightforward and reasonable throughout the entire project. After Mauricio of Level Carpentry visited my place and took measurements, he sent me a formal estimate via e-mail. The estimate included the pay schedule, which was very straightforward and easy to understand. I saw that other contractors were charging much more and didn't seem as easy to work with. From just talking to Mauricio, I trusted that he could get the job done and would work well with me and my husband. I signed the estimate online. Mauricio started the project right away. I appreciated that Mauricio and his team were very respectful throughout the project. I also appreciated that Mauricio answered any questions and addressed any concerns I had. He did it appropriately and professionally. He respected what I wanted, and he also gave his opinions based on his experience, which I trusted. I also really appreciated that Mauricio took his time to make sure he did everything right. He also told me about any additional work they had to do that was not included in the estimate, and the additional costs were reasonable. My only gripe is that the project took longer than expected (2-week estimate versus about a month and a half actual length of project). The estimated time was not in the formal written estimate given by Level Carpentry, so I couldn't hold them to it, but I didn't want to rush the project as there really was no need to. I told Mauricio about this after the project was completed. He apologized, but like I told him, there was no need to rush, and I would have told him during the project if I really wanted it done in 2 weeks. I wanted just what he wanted - to get the job done right! If the extra few weeks meant the job was done right for a kitchen I can enjoy forever, I'm good with that! Thanks to Level Carpentry, we have a kitchen and a new foyer floor that exceeded my expectations! I told my husband that Mauricio and his team at our house sort of became family, and I missed them when the project was done. Haha! If you want an experienced carpenter to do a small or big job this is the company to chose. Mauricio replaced the rotted wood frame and rotted panels on my porch in Pacifica. It's a small job but he believes once you see the quality of his workmanship you will not hesitate to hire him or refer him for bigger jobs. He does interior work as well as exterior work. He used high quality lumber from Goldenstate Lumber in Brisbane and he is a very meticulous person. He replaced the rotted 1/4" particle board panels with 1/2" marine grade plywood and replaced the rotted 2'x4' pine studs with pressure treated 2'x4' studs. He carved out a small section of rotted support wood frame under a window so he did not have to replace the whole window. That saved a lot of time and expense. Mauricio is full of information and he imparts his knowledge in laymen's terms so you can understand it. He cleaned up and removed all debris when he finished. They say you live and learn. Well I took a chance and have learned that if you want a carpenter to do a good long-lasting beautiful job this company would be a great choice. I have decided to adopt Mauricio as my "go-to guy" when I need to have my fence replaced or future carpentry work. He is reserved, but has a good sense of humor. I like him. We also gave him a key to our home so he could come and go as he pleased. He always made sure to lock up and secure everything.
