After an initial Yelp quote request to a total of 5 businesses, my husband and I hired Michael to fix a leaking faucet in our cellar. He was the very first to respond to our request with an actual estimate --- when I also supplied multiple photos -- while 3 others wanted to first evaluate in person with an additional appointment, and last 1 said they did not actually fix leaking faucets despite that being listed on their business profile. My husband and I asked Michael after his initial very fair estimate if he perhaps could also fix some other issues for us at an additional cost -- a loose house siding board inside our light well, and two loose plumbing bits, a kitchen faucet and a bathroom sink hot water handle. He thought it best to come out for the initial cellar sink fix, and then evaluate the other 3 tasks in person, which seemed very reasonable. He made quick work of the cellar faucet, handily fixing our amateur attempted earlier repair into a straightened and 100% water-tight fix. Then he climbed into our awkward light well, only accessible through a waist-height open window, jacked up a ladder, inspected the siding and determined the loose board was luckily only a cosmetic cover for the original 1905 redwood siding, reattached the loose board and caulked the edges for good measure. Then he promptly fixed our loose kitchen faucet and wobbly bathroom hot water handle. I cannot recommend him enough -- 5 stars all around -- on time, friendly, thorough, gung-ho for awkward work fixes like our light well, and very fair pricing. I almost want more stuff to break in this old house to hire him again. Two definite thumbs up! read more

This is the second time I have used Michael for odd jobs that required a craftsman's expertise, and each time he was perfect. This time I needed him to install a screen door in a door frame that had somewhat unusual dimensions do to the settling of my old rental building. He was able to alter the screen door to fit the frame perfectly, as I had anticipated given my prior positive experience with him. I had no water in the kitchen for a week due to my 10-year-old kitchen faucet cartridge malfunctioning and I wasted time trying to DIY replace it.  The reality:  the locking ring on the cartridge was irremovable (tried WD-40 and other solutions, nothing works) due to years of calcium buildup.  The entire faucet must be replaced. We contacted Michael on a contractor's recommendation for a bathroom touch-up project that was small in scope but out of our DIY comfort zone. Michael responded quickly and gave us a reasonable quote. We talked several times before the project so that we felt comfortable moving forward. During our small bathroom update Michael discovered that a pipe had been leaking for months! He went out of his way to excavate some of the leak, replace the faulty pipe part, and even replaced the other side of the pipe because a leak there was eventually inevitable. Even when his scope of work expanded (because of the leak) he was very reasonable with a price increase and kept us updated throughout. The price was way better than I expected based off of the extra work and time that was unexpectedly required. Exactly on time, very efficient, knowledgeable about a large breadth of work, communicative and professional. Let us know when he was going to be making noise, shutting off water, etc so that we could prepare our small children for the noise / be out of the house. I needed someone to come recaulk the seal around our tub. I say recaulk because another handyman did the work 2 months prior and did a poor job and the caulk cracked and needed to be re-done. Super late review, but Michael was able to help me quickly and efficiently. He was the only one to reply to me with an estimate based on my pictures and descriptions, while some others even wanted an $80 site review. Michael was also available sooner than others, so I just went with him. He did an amazing job with my specific situation. I had a pipe leak in between walls and our plumber said we needed a handyman to take apart the siding, fix it, then repatch it. Essentially I needed someone to take the siding apart and come back at a later date to repatch. The first time we couldn't locate it, but shortly after he left, we were able to find the source of the leak and I called him. He was able to come back immediately to cut out more of the siding. After replacing the pipe with my own plumber, I called Michael back and he was able to come back out within a couple of days of calling. Michael is a solid handyman, and I was very pleased with the work he did to replace a bathroom exhaust vent. He was very responsive, with solid communication skills, very friendly, good attention to detail, consistently put safety first (checked voltages, wiring, etc), as well as reasonably priced and on time. Michael is GREAT!!! As a woman, I'm always a bit nervous about being overcharged or being told "I need 1000000 other things fixed" because I don't really know what the issues are, but the prices were extremely reasonable and the service was 10/10. I needed a few things done - my toilet fixed (the water wasn't filling up), the sink/vanity was falling off of the wall in the bathroom, and my shower/sink water was not hot. He gave me a price estimate quickly after I reached out for the first two, and said the shower/sink he would need to take a look at. He was able to come the next day and even came early! He told me exactly what was wrong and exactly what he was going to do to fix it. For the hot water issue, he diagnosed it and explained what his suspicions were. I took him down to the water heater and he was able to point out what was likely the issue based on his knowledge and that we'd probably need a new water heater. Installing new water heaters was not his area of expertise/services, but having him still be able to partly diagnose that was helpful for when I called the plumber.
