I reached out to Felipe to see if he would stand behind the work and warranty, and offer ways to repair or follow-up on the issue after the company Consentino turned a blind eye but he didn't. I went with Felipe because I wanted to support small local businesses but I was disappointed and let explain why. I hired Mokastile to install an outdoor kitchen countertop. I went with Felipe's stone recommendation "Dekton" from Cosentino. He told me these stones are great for outdoor and have 25yr warranty. The installation went great and I was happy with the work. However the stone developed a crack within a month post install. I was using the egg grill and I heard loud pop. I explained to Felipe that this happened because of heat from the Egg grill. I was amazed at how a stone that was recently installed could be so brittle and crack under heat. Felipe came home, took some photos and got me in touch with the company that sells Dekton. The lady from the company Cosentino came in and did the same but I never heard from her again. 2 months later, I heard another pop sound while using the egg grill and the crack got worse. I texted Felipe again but no response. I reminded him that I haven't left a review and I would like to leave a good one but he didn't respond which explains why I am here. I really wanted to like the work Felipe did but I can't recommend him. DO NOT BUY DEKTON or from CONSENTINO. It is a horrible product and is not durable with heat despite what their marketing claims. I paid upwards of $10k for the product and this is what I am left with. Very disappointed with Dekton, Mokastile, Onseand Felipe. I highly recommend Felipe and his crew at Mokastile. After speaking with some retailers, I decided to use a marble-looking porcelain slab for my project. Very few contractors work with porcelain slabs, and Mokastile was one of these few. I contacted Mokastile and Felipe responded right away. One of the challenges with a porcelain slab is that the marble-looking pattern is only on the surface of the slab - the interior of the slab is plain white. To keep the end result looking like marble, the contractor needs to make really challenging 45 degree cuts to continue the marble-looking grain around the edge of the project. Felipe and Mokastile did a fantastic job - they were incredibly careful in how they cut the material, so the end result is beautiful and looks like marble, but has the stain resistance and durability of porcelain. Felipe also charges a fair price for his work, was quick to schedule the fabrication and installation, was very flexible in working with whatever material I chose, and kept my house really clean while he and his crew did their work. This is a well-deserved 5-Star review for Felipe' and his team at Mokastile. My wife and I are doing a major kitchen remodel utilizing 3 slabs of Quartzite stone. With a significant investment in materials and all new custom cabinetry, we wanted our countertops to reflect the best in craftsmanship. We were impressed with Felipe' from our first visit to his showroom and shop in San Leandro. He and his team are conscientious and truly care about doing an outstanding job for their customers. Felipe' explained their operation, the state of the art water saw they use to cut precise edges, and the technique they use for gluing the mitered edges. He encouraged us to go with a 2" mitered edge with our Shaker style cabinetry. When we had the slabs delivered to his shop, he spent about 2 hours with us doing the layout of the slabs, and making sure that the movement in the natural stone all was going in the same direction throughout our kitchen. That was a detail that we would have never thought about, nor do we recall any other fabricator mentioning that to us on previous jobs we've had done. Felipe's production time was also MUCH better than other fabricators that we talked to. In fact, he even completed production and was ready to install a day sooner than what we expected. His team worked on a Saturday to meet the commitment he had made to us, knowing that if one sub misses their commitment, it can affect the entire project. The installation was quick and flawless! Felipe was also able to cut the 2 cm counter material to a 1cm thickness where I need thinner backsplash pieces to fit with my trim. We needed 3 full slabs that we got from Pietra Fina in Hayward. Work was done a couple days before expected. The miter joints are perfect! Before we chose Felipe we went to his shop to make sure he was legit. He has this high tech machine that cuts the slabs perfectly. We got a 2 1/8" edge. My island has a 15" overhang and they installed steel rod into the plywood to support the edge vs having an ugly bracket. I can't find a single flaw anywhere!!! Forget the rest and go with the best. Even though our stones have identical patterns, they were still able to book-match almost all seams. They use a professional stone-cutting machine, unlike many places, who cut haphazardly in your front yard. The miter seams and regular seams are all hair thin. We hired Mokastile to fabricate and install stones for our remodel. The team at Mokastile were very professional and the service was excellent. Initially we got few quotes from few shops we found on Yelp and after some discussion Mokastile came out to be the best. Since we purchased stones from a different vendor, Felipe at Mokastile helped to pickup the material. During the fabrication, we found we were short on the material and had to purchase more stones. Felipe was very accommodating and made another trip to pickup more pieces. Our measurements were taken by Felipe, he arrived on time and made templates to ensure accuracy. The stones came out perfect, they also tried to make the patterns match from edge to edge the best they can, although that heavily depends on the materials. The installation guys were meticulous and kept the place clean during install with their shop vac. After install, they cleaned and polished the stone thoroughly and caulked the surrounding edges properly. It was very easy to work with these guys, they also had very quick turnaround time from measurements to fabrication to install. I've contacted (from CL and other connections) a couple of contractors for doing the kitchen remodeling (new cabinets and granite counter-top) and I cannot be more happier that Felipe took on the job. From the beginning he was very straight forward and delivered on his promise. He got the kitchen done in 1 week (7 to 10 days as he said, from the time we shook hands on it) with no issues whatsoever. He is a very meticulous person, taking detailed measurements at the estimate, I could immediately grasp that he knows his trade. There was little to no disruption during the work, except the demolition (1day) where there was a little bit of dust, everything else happened very cleanly. Over the weekend he even provided some temporary plumbing so I could have a functional kitchen. With that being said, he will be definitely doing the flooring throughout the home as well.
