We worked with Matthew at Romarts Granite & Marble to select a granite countertop remnant that we could use for our custom bathroom vanity. He pulled out a number of remnant slabs for us to consider (they have quite a large collection) and showed us the other possibilities in the yard. After some thought we chose a beautiful rectangular Andromeda White slab. Matthew helped to schedule the measurements once our vanity was installed and then, one week later, the workers arrived to install our sinks, countertop, and backsplashes. The final product is beautiful! They did an outstanding job with fitting the space and cleanly installed the granite. We are planning to use Romarts again when we move on to tackle our kitchen. read more

Romarts installed the 5th job for me this week. Of all the trades who worked on the project, stone is by far the most nerve wracking, so I will only engage Romarts. From start to finish, they were responsive and trustworthy. In the office, Andreea kept me informed and as the time to install neared, she followed up regularly and made an important design recommendation. The result: a clean, sleek design. Andrei helped us lay out the templates to optimize patterns in the more visible spaces. Check out the mountain vibe behind the cooktop and the flow down the waterfall. The installers worked CAREFULLY in my home and did not ding the walls or damage the kitchen cabinets. Extra staff were on site to carry the heaviest pieces. The team worked together and demonstrated solid camaraderie from carrying the pieces upstairs to getting the joints exactly right to protecting cabinetry. Overall, Andreea moved the project along, reached out to schedule the job accurately and finished my kitchen before Thanksgiving. They seem to have streamlined their processes as well as fine-tuned communication between the front office, templating, manufacturing and installation. read more

She had recommendations of the type of color to choose and explained why she thought others were better. Andreea & Matt provided great customer support from quote request to scheduling the installation. I was so impressed with the amount of time Andrei spent with me laying the templates out on my 3 Silestone Quartz slabs to ensure I was happy with the layout of my counters and matching backsplash before the stone was cut. The intricacies of the installation were considerable especially when doing a full backsplash. The installers are true craftsmen with amazing attention to every detail. The work was okay, but the communication was crap. Once they had my money they called to set up the measuring. Afterwards, they "lost my number" and couldn't be bothered to answer my messages or emails. Installation was late, and imprecise: they had to come back twice to fix it. It looks fine now, but what a headache! Learn from my problems, try another place. read more

I purchased a beautiful neolith counter top from Romarts. The install went well. I was very happy with the install. However a year after the install I managed to chip my countertop right at the sink. I called Romarts and they quoted me a fair price to repair. We scheduled the repair. The repair date came and went and Romarts was a no show. I had to call them to find out why, no one called me. When I called, it was as if I was bothering them. They refused to reschedule, instead told me they would call me back. Of course they never called, I tried again via email, again I was ignored. So I went to Fox Granite and Marble who charged me an arm and a leg, but they answered the phone, responded to emails, kept their appointment and did a beautiful repair. The Fox technician also remove some of the caulking Romarts did around the sink and put new and much neater caulking in...no charge. The technician also wanted to fix the caulking around the perimeter where the countertop meets the backsplash which is also neolith. Anyway, Romarts has good pricing, terrible customer service and only okay caulking skills. Not sure I will use them again. read more

Romarts was fantastic. They are extremely professional, the folks doing the work were really great and on short notice, they were able to some how fit my projects in. Their prices were fair. I have two areas for improvement - (1) the countertops take 2 weeks from date of measurement to install - that seems like a long time. (2) I wish more care was taken to clean up debris and dust after each day. Description of work: Initially, I hired Romarts to do only my countertops, but when my handyman husband decided to take off mid-kitchen-remodel, I was left with a whole lot of work and no one to do it. George from Romarts stepped in and gave me fair prices on most of the remaining work. I had them do plumbing, cabinet installation, plywood for the countertop support, counters, dry wall, floor tile and a pony wall for my island. Daniel was the main handyman on the job and he was so great. He can come across as a little grumpy at first, but he has a heart of gold and he did really wonderful work. In fact, he threw in some detailing for free because I had sent so much work their way. I would not have been able to do the kitchen remodel without these guys. We had mostly a positive experience with Romarts. A few negatives. So the positives: 1) Work was done at a very high level. We were left with a beautiful remodel that looks high end. No sloppy work. 2) Flexible workers and accommodating. We requested extra things. They were happy to accommodate us. For a price of course. But still, one of the sub-contractors was awesome and included extra work for a very reasonable amount of money. 3) Beautiful choice of granite at their yard. It was pretty fun to pick out the granite! Although one of my first choices was snapped up by somebody else...the replacement granite was still very nice. Negatives: 1) Pricing was on the high side and crept steadily higher as the remodeling process went on. This was aside from the extras we asked for. 2) In hindsight, we wish we had gone with a contractor that was more willing to be part of the design process and do everything. We had to pick out and supply everything for Romarts including mirrors, faucets, light fixtures etc They are not a contractor that you can tell we want this style, go buy it and install it. We aren't picky people, we just wanted the end product to look good and put together. We aren't designers either. Funny thing is that the one designer they had us talk to at the tile store chose the wrong colors of paint to match the tiles we had picked out (we hated it). We ended up picking out colors ourselves and had them repaint ....for extra money of course. 3) They sub-contract out everything and have you buy certain items at certain places (the tile store for instance and the tile there was not cheap!). 4) They do try and get you to go higher end. We ended up choosing things that were a bit nicer than we probably would otherwise have done. We managed to draw the line at the marble at least (phew!). 5) One last thing was they didn't quite finish the job (they left one towel rack uninstalled and a bathroom door primed but not painted). We'll shoulder part of the blame here since we were in remodeling fatigue at that point and didn't ask them to come back for the finishing touches. My husband installed the towel rack and since we are currently having the house repainted by another company, it was easy to add in an extra door. To sum: Remodel ended up looking nice, but overpriced. Could have done worse though. These guys were mid to upper range in their pricing, but we had one bid that was WAY above theirs. read more

I ran a couple quotes for granite and tile installation and ended up choosing Romarts . I picked out a quartzite slab from MS International and hired Romarts for the fabrication. I was really nervous handing this job over to just anyone because I had really bad luck with contractors damaging my floors, etc. George said " We do not ding" so I said hired! From the moment his guys stepped in to my home they were all very respectful and professional. They took extra care to not ding my floors or scratch anything. My counters look beautiful and Leo who works for George did an amazing job on my tile! They also took a scratch out of my marble floors that one of my workers did and Leo took out a stain out of my limestone that another one of my workers did. Five star company!!!! I had an occasion to hire Romarts Marble & Granite for a rather small "L Shaped" kitchen in a modest 2nd floor Alameda Condominium. Not one of their more important jobs, I'm sure. That said, I was positively impressed with the care, organization, equipment, talent and fortitude of the 2 men who arrived to install this granite. Positively amazing! A 6 out of 5 star. We recently hired Romarts to fabricate and install Vetrazzo countertops throughout our kitchen and our new addition, including a very large kitchen peninsula. Vetrazzo is a beautiful material and requires experience and care to fabricate. The people at Romarts were most professional and went out of their way to help us throughout the installation process. Mark, our office contact, always patiently and cheerfully handled our questions and coordinated the process. The owner, George, met with us to discuss our project and came out to supervise the making of the templates. Andre, who is the lead fabricator, has an artist's eye, thoughtful and patient, he did a fabulous job designing the layout and placing the seams. We had seen many other countertop installations with poorly done seams that bothered us. Andre came up locations for the seams that's are almost invisible. The end result is beautiful! I would highly recommend using Romarts to fabricate stone and install. You may even find a slab or remnant of granite, marble, or man-made stone from their yard. Our experience with Romarts has been exceptional. I ended up stumbling upon Romarts after visiting Dal Tile in San Leandro. Romarts, along with mostly other local fabricators, is on their list since Dal does not fabricate stone that they sell. Visited Romarts on a Monday morning and was cheerfully greeted by Andreea. She listened to the scope of our project (two bathroom vanities) and made some excellent suggestions. Initially I found a few remnant pieces I thought would work, but as I continued looking elsewhere, decided to change the type of material I wanted. I never felt pressured to buy, nor did I ever feel like I HAD to engage Romarts as my fabricator. Andreea was extremely patient with me and and helped me find both granite and quartz for the vanity tops. Because of her genuine interest in our project and the fact that Romarts is a family run business, I knew I couldn't go anywhere else. Both Andreea and Andrei helped with the design of our backsplashes, which I must say, turned out amazing and are very unique! . My husband and I are very happy. Installation was a breeze! Both the installers arrived on time and were meticulous in placing the stone and cutting plumbing holes. Everyone who has seen the quality of work done by Romarts is very impressed. Throughout the process, I was listened to, was offered good suggestions as to color and design, and most importantly, I was made to feel like a valuable customer. Once again, George and his company did an amazing job on our remodel. He did a remarkable job on our kitchen complete with a difficult farm sink. There were 3 bathrooms with beautiful countertops and again difficult cut outs that were not a problem for Romarts. George's prices are very reasonable and he stands by everything he does. I happen to really like that they are a family run company. They are really great people to work with. Having said that, It irritates me to read some reviews from unsophisticated homeowners about nicks on the paint, etc. As in any construction project, there will always be paint touch ups once all the work is complete. I cant imagine using anyone else to trust my granite/marble work to. Romarts is the BEST!! read more

We particularly appreciate is how Giorgio planned the cutting of the kitchen counter marbles specially considering the placement of the patterns in the Cararra marble. I highly recommend Romarts for their excellent customer service, competitive pricing and beautiful work. Customer service--Admittedly, I am a picky and careful customer. Andreea was patient and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. While in the showroom, she patiently listened to my ideas in terms of style, color and function. She advised on various quartz, countertops edges, and color schemes. Competitive pricing--Since Romarts does their own fabrication, rather than outsourcing it, their prices are very reasonable. Beautiful work--in the timeline of the contract, the countertops were installed; they are absolutely beautiful! Andreea's recommendation for the pencil edge finish on the countertops was much better that the bullnose edge that I originally wanted. The finished look and functionality of a pencil edge was a great call on her part. After the work was done, I had questions about maintenance and such; Andreea patiently addressed all my concerns. Well it wont let me give negative stars but trust me, I would! Our laundry list of negatives will not fit here. The damage done to our home and our emotions can not be measured. I did not hire Romarts, but they were a sub contractor of my designer. From the very first visit when all we heard was how under bid the job was, how much money they were going to loose... totally unprofessional. Then on to the actual job of our shower surround and bathroom counter top. Gouges in the new wall, rub on the ceiling, oh and dings in the paint on the walls going up the stairs. Our General Contractor put tarps on our wood floors and carpet. On each visit after, of which there were MANY, no care was taken by anyone to protect our floors. On one such visit, the crew wore their work boots into the shower stall and scratched the brand new shower pan. $300 to repair that and add the stress and extra time added to the job. On to more repairs and delays. We were told that they were not allowed to make repairs to the product they had installed and that someone from the 'company' had to come out and take a look. This took months! I will say that some of the delays were due to our scheduling. We had a family visit, surgery, and life going on and I wanted our GC whom we trust and have complete faith in to be there to oversee. I could go on and on, but my point now is that we first started this project over 9 months ago and finally last week they replaced the counter top that was damaged and NOT a defect as they tried to claim. I usually check Yelp reviews and can at least set expectations... please make sure you read the most recent reviews of this company. read more

Total rip off for the plumbing subcontractor---not even a licensed plumber and then he said he bought a dishwasher air cap because the demo guys threw mine away---he charged me $65. on top of the $525. Romarts had already charged me to hook up a garbage disposal and dishwasher!!! My range is crooked and not level---Andrei is supposed to contact me to schedule an appt. to level the range and talk to me about the plumber. I have yet to hear from him. The job is great---the service, communication and pricing is not! read more

Daniel was good and professional; his craftsmanship was very good and very engineering like; liked the cabinet ppl they outsourced; but in general, Romarts as a whole was merely ok. Experience timeline: 1) First meeting was good; informative and easy going 2) Second meeting - signed contract with a start date 3) One month past the start date, off to a slow start 4) We picked the materials; thought some of the them were covered in price, but weren't 5) They mixed out job with others; hence, dragging the whole process. Promised to be done in 3 months; finally saw some light at the end of the tunnel SIX months later. 6) During the walk through, found some problems; promised they would "look" into it. Never heard from Andrei EVER AGAIN. I am being very generous with my rating - I would really give them 0 star to their management if I hold my professional standards but give 5 stars to the ppl who actually did the work because they cared about our detail concerns. read more

Pluses and minuses. As with many places, make sure everything is clear and written at the start and the cost of everything the undermount sink, the faucet holes and the type of edging, the plywood. They may be over priced in the end because of the sub contracting. Not good about returning phone calls quickly and follow up calls after the job and after payment. Getting materials from someone and having them install it is a different thing completely. They sub contract so just hire your own local installer/fabricator. Local installers are closer and quicker to get to your home to resolve problems. when people sub contract it's a hit or miss. You don't necessarily get the great person someone else got so it's meaningless if one person said a certain guy with them was good because who knows which guy you will get. read more

This past (2011) summerI SPENT too much time looking for a granite fabricator. Many fabricators I contacted were recommended by business recourses and I was amazed how many didn't have the proper documentation. No state contractor license and or the proper insurances. Amazing the excuses that were given, no time, not necessary. Homeowners are only protected if your contractor has the proper paperwork up to date. This can be checked on the state contractor's license board site. Anyway I finally found George at Romart, a business with all their ducks in a row and they did a WONDERFUL JOB with a VERY competitive rate. I am very cautious and particular and also in the construction business. I have just called Romart for additional work and will request quotes from them for business use as well. George is a first class in character, reliability and service. George and his crew just finished granite for our wine cellar. We met him at his shop and he walked us through all the granite he had on hand, explained all the differences and was able to give us a straight price without any nonsense. They showed up when they were scheduled for measurements and were clean and fast. Even after I changed the edging at the last minute George was easy going and "no problem". Installation was just as clean and easy. It is exactly what we expected and hoped for - we have tried to work with other local "granite and stone" contractors and things did not go well.
