Fire Works was great! Came here for evening drinks and food over the weekend. The outdoor patio is pretty spacious and it wasn't too packed for an early Saturday evening. Between the two of us, we ordered the cucumber kiwi cocktail, a blood orange beer, Allagash White, and the pepperoni rolls. Everything was fantastic! The beer and patio is perfect for a beautiful spring day, and the pepperoni rolls were a good amount of food for an appetizer or happy hour treat. As someone who has consumed more pizza than is probably legally permissible in the continental US, as well as someone who worked for several years for an Italian restaurant, I can safely say that Fire Works Pizza is one of the best places to get your fix ever. Came here recently on a double-date of sorts (the other couple's idea). While parking was less than easy here, we did find a space and were pleasantly greeted by the hosting staff. Despite being a Saturday, we were seated promptly in an adjoining room. The keg room is one of the first things you see when you come in and it certainly sets the tone for a restaurant well-stocked with draft and bottle beer options. The ambiance is definitely upscale, and it's sure to make a good impression on your wife or girlfriend (or both). Our server promptly visited us and got our drinks to the table, but not before making some stellar recommendations based on our preferences. Despite how busy it was, we felt well taken-care of throughout the evening. What's more, the meal was paced well, with our appetizers, entrees, and drinks coming at just the right times. Speaking of appetizers and entrees, we opted for the garlic knots and a few custom personal pizzas. The knots were delicious, though an order contains only about five of them which might make splitting them between two people awkward (trust me, you'll want to fight for that fifth one!). The pizzas were nothing short of excellent. While the custom ones my friends permitted me to try were excellent, I opted for the Tartufo being a fan of mushrooms, and added some chorizo just to make it interesting. It was without a doubt a good call, though I get the feeling it's hard to go wrong with a pizza here! This place is extremely high quality, and you can expect to pay for that quality. An appetizer, entrees, and drinks for two people put the bill past the three-figures point. That being the case, make this a special occasion favorite while you work your way up the economic food chain, maybe you'll be able to come here regularly at that point! My favorite restaurant in Clarendon so far, and the new bar by which I measure pizza restaurants. Definitely come here! I've been here a number of times and maybe this is my last? I went in to get two for the patio. The host was kind enough to walk us over and told us to sit anywhere. Their open woodfired oven is on full display, and the man who tends the fire is a master of shifting the pizzas around the floor of the oven to bake them JUST RIGHT. This place consistently makes excellent napolitano style pizza. Their ingredients are prepped and flavored just right. Great balance of tastes yet unafraid to offer quirky combinations. Their tomatoes with a balsamic dressing on the pizza are luscious. Their locally-sourced Virginia lamb is sweet and robust (Black sheep pizza is a MUST TRY). I have gone through nearly all of their pizzas. Crust always crispy, not too thick, perfectly complementing the toppings both in texture and weight. I can't think of a bad pizza I have eaten here, and I am not a pizza girl. Service is really fast. Even when busy, they have a great system of preparing and cooking pizzas in that massive oven. Try sitting at the bar where you can feel the heat of the oven and watch the man baking pizzas --- it is a treat!! Once you've chosen your pizza, indulge in the well curated list of wines and beers they offer. They are seasonally rotated. Their wines are selected to pair well with their pizza. Local breweries are featured. Desserts are decadent and on the odd occasion I have indulged, quite delicious. I reserve the five stars for a no-reservations thumbs up. I give it to this place. This is far far far far far better than Two Amys, service incredibly efficient and seamless. I can't say enough good things about this place. Find it conveniently located near the Courthouse Metro station in Arlington. If you're choosing between this and Pupatella I'd say it's much easier too get seating here. There were two hosts in charge of seating customers and they weren't communicating properly because they would seat people out of order and give out greatly differing wait times. The Margarita is meh, but we enjoyed everything else including the Firecracker, the Siciliana, and the Tartufo. The Tartufo (with truffles) was the standout, and everyone's favorite. The apps I've had at Fireworks have ranged. The bacon fat fries are just fries and nothing special, but the duck spring rolls are very good. I'm always impressed by Firework's beer list. I opted for the smaller size of the two prices listed - $12.50 vs $18.50. It was good - cooked in a wood burning open stove - I could see it being cooked from my seat. Tomatoes on the pizza was plentiful and I really enjoyed eating this pizza (it was much better than the one I had at Oro Promodoro). What I love about this place is that it is opened late night on a Fri and Saturday; You can still order pizza's late - a few folks had come to the bar later in the night and wanted to know if they could still order pizza and they were told yes...that is good to know. Trip to Washington DC and went to Fire Works for dinner. Given that it was St. Patricks day, we (my wife, 2 year old baby and myself) felt like we weren't welcomed there. It took some time for our server to come to our table. I ordered for Guinness Stout and our server brings a can of Guinness. If you know anything about Guinness, you don't drink it straight out of the can. I had to wait for more time for the server so that I can ask for a beer glass. Glass he brings was straight out of the dish washer so you can imagine it being warm. Our entre comes before our appetizer. We needed to keep asking for water.
