Our school trip of ~180 people split in half and had dinner at Fire Works Pizza two consecutive nights. The restaurant had a section blocked off for us and was ready with a buffet of salad, soup, pastas, & pizzas. For dessert, we also had cookies and brownies. The meal was a big hit with the kids. Very nice that Fire Works expanded their wings into the Arlington area. This spot has been in the Courtyard parts of Arlington for a while and locals are lucky it's here. Beer and pizza, their specialties! Plenty of local brews and domestics on tap. The Right Proper Raised by Wolves pale ale is what pale ale dreams are made of with the right flavors and hops mixed in. Very easy to drink and sip with pizza. Speaking of pizza, there are over a dozen types of pies to choose from or you can build your own. Each pie has distinct flavor profiles or course. The Good for the Seoul is unique with the beef bulgogi and spiciness topping; very adventurous for pizza lovers. The sweet heat pizza combines sweetness of honey with jalapeno flavors. Those are what I would recommend. As for appetizers, the bacon fat fries are gluten free and a must order if you love fries. The tempura brussels sprouts are tasty although heavier than I thought they would be due to the tempura coating. Next time I might ask if they can do it w/o the tempura. Their pizza box says, "It's love in a box" and I must disagree. My husband placed an order for pick up this evening and this is the driest pizza I EVER had. I think the pizza was estimated to be ready in 20 min but it was ready in 10, so it was sitting for 10 minutes until he arrived. I've ordered lots of pizza and have let it sit for 10 minutes and it never was dry like this. I LOVE wood fired pizza but this pizza lacks tomato sauce and the chicken they use is so thinly sliced so when placed in a wood fired oven, it's dry as the Sahara desert. I got there after my flight into DC on a Monday evening since it was around the corner from my hotel. I was sat in a booth near the bar. It was nice to watch the wood fire grill burning and people watch. I ordered the happy hour cheesy bread and a glass of wine. The menu was huge so it took some time to look at it, though I still landed on a pizza with onions, pepperoni, olives, and red pepper flakes. It came out first and then my cheesy bread came out (I almost thought they forgot it). So I was a little disappointed by that, especially since the 10" pizza was so large that I regretted getting the cheesy bread. The food was hot and tasty and the server was great. I was on a business trip and Fireworks was near my hotel. It was a basic bar and grill style restaurant with plenty of seating in the bar area. I didn't really feel like having pizza so I ordered a Cobb salad but the Cajun pasta also looked good They were both above average for a typical bar and grill. Cobb salad had all the right ingredients, the lettuce was crisp and fresh and the chicken was well cooked and hot -- I hate it when the grilled chicken is lukewarm or even cold and you can't tell if it was just cooked or a week old. The Cajun pasta was also well above average for a bar and grill. Seasoning was just right -- I but of a kick but not overwhelming. There was chicken, shrimp, and sausage in good amounts and the shrimp was not overcooked as it sometimes is when you mix it in with other proteins. Service was good and friendly. I've recently had some really good beers at Fire works, most notably are the oatmeal raisin cookie porter, the old busthead west coast ipa, mustang sally amber ale, the canned IPA pictured below. Went here on a week night during a horrid thunderstorm and had our dog with us so we sat on the patio. It was nice because it is covered and has plastic "walls" so it kept the rain out, more or less as some tables were wet but then the storm was bad so understandable. The service was excellent, very attentive. The drinks were okay, had the new raspberry margarita and it was a bit too sweet for my taste. The glass of wine was good and the regular margarita was better. I had a house salad with grilled chicken and it was excellent. The chicken breast was a very good size and grilled perfectly. We also had pesto pasta with chicken that was excellent and two pizzas that they enjoyed. Overall a great experience and I would recommend giving it a try. read more

I live in DC but sometimes go to the movies in the Court House section of Arlington, which gave me the chance to discover Fireworks Pizza. Now I go every time I go to the movies. They're incredibly welcoming, always making me feel they appreciate my visit. They have gorgonzola cheese for the pizzas, which is hard to find around here! They are accommodating in terms of changes to the menu, which is always great. They have weekly trivia nights -- fun! Finally, they offer a wonderful $11.95 lunch special. If you like waiting long for a botched order and plain pizza, this is your spot. The food can only be described as average. The pizza was oily, and the crust was soggy/floppy, it looked soaked even from the first slice off the plate. Service is incredibly haphazard, we saw a table of four get seated, order, and get their appetizers before we were asked to order our drinks. How is that a reasonable way to run a restaurant? Until this place figures out its operations and tightens up its kitchen, it's definitely skippable given how many other options there are nearby. No fireworks here, just shooting blanks. read more

First time experiencing their bottomless brunch and it's a great deal, $30 for various brunch options, snacks, and salad, plus $1-$4 drinks are a steal. My table tried pretty much everything on the bottomless brunch menu. The items we really liked: sweet chili Thai wings, T.H.S wings, avocado toast, lox pizza, breakfast mini pizza, yogurt parfait, fried chicken biscuit (not spicy at all and you have to like pimento cheese which I do so it was great), Cobb salad, brussel sprouts, Mac and cheese (interesting it doesn't taste like cheese you more or so taste the pancetta), and beignets (the strawberry sauce was really good). A few debatable items: The garlic parm wings were ordered twice and came out with less sauce the first time and more sauce the second but the table still liked both. The French toast was tasty for some with the Nutella but not crispy enough for others. The grits (we added cheese) started out a little more loose in texture at first because it was still baking in the pan they brought out but as it sat the texture was good and the flavor was good as well, just needed a little salt The service was great, our waitress was pretty on top of things, bathroom was clean and the physical space was cool, we didn't feel like we were on top of any other table. Went to fireworks for a work event with a large party. Service was a little slow and we were not informed that there were lunch combos as an option. This is very disappointing as I specifically asked for a small pizza and a small (personal) and ask if there was a small side salad. This would have been the perfect time to mention the lunch combos. It ended up costing me more than $30 when a 6 inch pizza and small side salad. Lunch combo would only have been $11. The salad was overdressed, so I didn't eat much of it and the pizza was just OK for me. Of note, if you go with a large group, they will automatically add gratuity. read more

Great for a group dinner, they accommodated our pretty large group of 13-14 people. The server was exceptionally patient and friendly. Awesome beer list, lots on tap and bottle including cider. The food was pretty good, the side salad was fresh and I think the ranch dressing was homemade which was a bonus. The pizza was pretty good, I'm admittedly a crust snob (Neapolitan all the way for me) but aside from that this pizza was good and we had no complaints on anything. Both the pizza and service here are very average in quality - not bad but not particularly good. I ordered The Fire "Works" pizza, which had sausage, pepperoni, onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. I thought the meat could've been a bit more flavorful and the cheese could've been more plentiful. Also, the crust-to-toppings ratio was a bit high, although the crust was actually softer than it looked. It was $14 for a 10 inch pizza (big enough to comfortably feed one person), which was a decent deal. When we first arrived, there was strangely no one there to greet / seat us, so we just had to wait there awkwardly until we finally got someone's attention. Then, they made it seem like the only outdoor table available was one all the way on the outside end, when it looked like they could've easily just pulled an extra chair or two over to one of the closer emptier tables. The problem with sitting on the outside end was that there was very little light, since the overhead lighting was only in the outdoor area close to the door to the restaurant. Apart from that though, the outdoor area as well as the indoor area are fairly nice with plenty of seating available. Our waiter was average friendliness and the service speed was decent. Overall, I would recommend Fire Works Pizza if you happen to be in the area and are craving pizza, although I would not go out of your way just to come here. read more

I didn't like either, the harvest which had overpowering vinegar flavor and the other half I don't remember the name but also not good at small. My son got a bulgogi pizza which he didn't love. My husband had the flank steak salad and he definitely loved that. Our server was missing in action most of the time. We came here with our tour group so the food review is based on a buffet style their served us instead of a regular ordering process when you come on your own. They had a fairly large spread for us. There was salad, a few pastas including Mac and cheese, and a variety of pizzas. - salad: standard tasting salad - pastas: alright - pizzas: good standard toppings, but the crust was not as crisp as I was hoping it would be. The front of the pizza was a bit soggy so I had to tear that part off just to eat the parts near the end as the crust was much better. - dessert: tiramisu was fantastic. One of the better ones I have had I wanted to love this place and I am thinking I may if we weee just here on our own and ordered ourselves. What's the first thing I try in any city I visit? The pizza, of course. Fire Works did not disappoint. We were seated immediately for a Thursday night dinner. ATMOSPHERE: Fire Works boasts a large wood-fire pizza oven facing the dining area. It was very cool to see each pie being made in the oven and being served piping hot and fresh. The place was packed and bustling (we got the last two seats) but we were still able to have a conversation comfortably. FOOD: We got a large original crust half Harvester and half The Fire "Works." We swapped out the pesto sauce on the Harvester for Tomato sauce which they were happy to do. The pizza tasted wonderful. It was decked with toppings but still had enough cheese and sauce to balance the flavors. We got the hot honey on the side; it tasted just like normal honey unfortunately, but for $1 why not. SERVICE: Kind servers, very accommodating with requests, and there were many roaming the floors to take requests. PRICE/VALUE: Great price for Washington DC. The full pizza was $21 and it was plenty to feed 2. Overall, a great experience with delicious food and average drinks. I will be back next time I'm in DC. read more

You ever walk in a place and immediately feel the service is off but you try and be optimistic and give it a chance? My reservation was for standard seating and I was sat at a high top near the bar. Service started out bad and slow. The manager saw me sitting a while waiting and didn't acknowledge me at all. But my friend was late so that was fine. The waitress then finally came and gave me water. I then asked for a mimosa before she rushed off. Once she came back, I tried to start placing an order but she rushed off while I was mid sentence. Once my friend was there I then asked the manager to move us to the standard seating I reserved and I expressed that it was to receive better service, she asked if my service was bad and to avoid confrontation or conflict I didn't go into details. I also acknowledged it could be rough managing the bar and the high top tables. Once reseated I shared with her my brief experience and she said "I hope it gets better for you." Our new waitress was very pleasant and made the experience worthy of a 3 Star rating. If it wasn't for her, I'd give them a 2 star. EVERYTHING WAS SERVED SLOW AND COLD, EVERYTHING. Not yelling, just emphasizing LOL. The breakfast food was very cold. Not fresh at all, even the eggs had a weird taste. The grits were the only thing I could enjoy. Burnt sausage and bacon etc. So I ordered salad, pizza, and meatball. The taste was fine, but still very cold. Overall a horrible experience. Getting a reservation and parking was easy.
