Our waiter Andrew was fantastic. Front desk needed a little help, the manager (I think) scolded their employees right in front of us when both of them were correct and she was incorrect. It was Symantec's and a weird power trip.

First visit. What a great experience. Wednesday 1/2 price bottles of wine and food was phenomenal. Can't say enough about our server "Lilly". She was so informative and attentive. Above and beyond in every way . She made the night perfect

Party of 7 for dinner on a stormy Thursday night. Destiny was our server and she was fantastic! Meals were great! Chopped steak salads, mushroom pizza, chicken piccata, mushroom ravioli and a Gnocchi dish.

We had a phenomenal dinner, beginning with a warm welcome from the host team and ending with a perfect round of post-dinner decafs. Our server, Soren, provided impeccable service, and the kitchen delivered beautifully presented, piping-hot plates. The value here is excellent, and we can't wait to return! One small note for the atmosphere: the hard surfaces make the room quite echoey. Some acoustic treatments to soften the sound would really take the dining experience to the next level.

3.5 rounded up to 4. 10/12/2024…read more I was excited to finally dine at Mandrake for my wedding anniversary dinner. I've passed by and saw the restaurant's progression with eager anticipation. The aesthetic looked beautiful, the seasonal menu seemed right up my alley, and I couldn't wait to try a new fine dining restaurant in Geneva. My husband made the RSVP & informed Mandrake about our anniversary. The indoor dining area is nicely decorated, but quite small. We were greeted and congratulated when we arrived, waited for bit for a table to open up, and we each ordered a Mandrake signature old fashioned while looking over the fall menu. Our drinks were waiting at our tiny table. There must have been a slight mix up with who our waiter would be because the hostess, Josh, and another waitress asked if we were helped within about 15 minutes of us sitting down. We eventually placed our order with Josh K. The Old Fashioneds ($17) we're ok. I love Old Fashioneds. They're one of my favorite cocktails. So I might be nit-picking here, but I noticed they used lemon peel instead of orange peel. That would've been fine if that's what was described on the menu, but alas, the menu stated orange zest. I'm not too picky about the ice in my cocktails, but did notice that the cube was not uniform in size and not clear at all. We ordered the Oysters in the half shell ($27). I liked the oysters and the accompaniments, but was surprised that they weren't already detached. The Seared sea scallops (28) were the best part of the whole dinner. The scallops were cooked well, the spiced carrot puree was delicious, and the hazelnut dukkah added a nice touch. We each ordered Frost bitten to the core ($17). This fall drink was delicious, light, and well-balanced. Highly recommended if you like apple cider. Our half order of the Garam masala lamb rack ($35) was also cooked nicely. It wasn't gamey at all. The grilled muscat grape relish was a bit bland and didn't really add much to the dish. The coffee rubbed hangar steak ($35) was good overall. I enjoyed the pistachio salsa verde, but the dish wasn't uniform to be considered give dining. Done parts of the sweet potato pavé we're good, but other parts were very dry (I think depending on whether fattier or drier parts of the steak were on top). For dessert, we shared a Hazelnut yum yum ($17). It had all of my favorite dessert flavors so it had to be fantastic, right? It was good but there wasn't enough uniform crunch. There were only 3 candied hazelnuts. I think they should have crushed and spread them over the entire dessert. Overall, Mandrake was good. If you're already in Geneva and want to try something new ..it's worth giving it a try. However, there are plenty of other places that do drinks and food better...without calling themselves fine dining.

The decor was modern yet appropriately fit to the name (you'd see roots decor on the ceiling). Our wait staff was friendly and helpful in explaining the summer menu. While the menu didn't indicate Gluten Free or Friendly, our wait staff explained the items that can be readily made Gluten Friendly. We opted for the following: - Strawberry Burrata (the crostini was on the side for me): creaminess of burrata, strawberry sauce, and freeze dried strawberry with a hint of red peppercorn were a delightful starter. It's almost a dessert! - Duck Breast (over a bed of crisped coconut rice): the duck breast was perfectly cooked - the meat was tender and the skin was crispy. - Rack of Lamb (served with tostones): I'm not usually a fan of lamb, but this was this lamb was prepared in a way that it was not gamy at all! The tostones and chimichurri sauce paired well with the lamb. - Seasonal sorbet (three flavors over crumbles of macadamia nuts and plantain chips): with flavors like prickly pear, mango, and guava, what's not to like? The sorbets were elevated with sauces on each flavor. We definitely will be back another time. Hopefully it would be on a sunny day so we can experience the outdoor seating area which also looks very inviting.

Le P'tit was the first to pop up on my feed and immediately caught my attention due to its unique menu, historic building, and secluded outdoor oasis for the fair weather seasons. When asked where I wanted to have dinner on my birthday, the answer was easy, L'ptit! We were greeted by the Chef Chopra outside, who welcomed us and asked us to choose the seat that suited us best in or outdoors. We chose a seat outside as it seemed most guests were enjoying the nice weather in the garden. Chef Chopra introduced himself and explained the complimentary montadito, and presented the current specials. We loved that he took time to ask what brought us in, and when we said that we were building a new home in Bartlett only minutes away, he shared that although he has been all over the world he always misses good old Bartlett, IL. This is the kind of connection and service you won't find at franchise restaurants! We enjoyed cocktails, myself a dirty tini with bleu cheese stuffed olives, and my husband the traditional old fashioned and the P'tit old fashioned - both of which he enjoyed. We ordered the hummus for an appetizer - my husband never orders humus. Not a drop was left. It was so flavorful, and since I am intolerant to gluten we loved that it was served with cucumber "chips". We will definitely order this again! Our entrees were both specials - mine the steak and shrimp tower and my husband's the Birria. We could t decide whose was better. The shrimp and steak were so flavorful and beautifully cooked, and the beef and consommé of my husband's was out of this world. My takeaways from Le P'tit: We will be there - regularly, before we move into our home, and after! Have a cocktail, they are fabulous. Talk to Chef Chopra any chance you get. He has seen the world and loves to see his guests enjoying his menu and the atmosphere of his establishment. This is what supporting local is about! Enjoy your time at Le P'tit. Savor. Take a moment to slow down, disconnect from the outside and connect with the ones around you and enjoy the wonderfully and thoughtfully prepared dishes on the menu. We can't wait to be back!

Will absolutely get again. For dessert, and there's always room for dessert here in my opinion, I love to get the rich panna cotta. This past time though we got the butterscotch budino, which was smooth and rich without being overly sweet. It was perfect to share (or not)! Just enough hint of butterscotch and topped with a crumbled shortbread cookie to an add a little crunch to the otherwise creamy treat. So we came here on a random Friday night to test our luck to get a table at 7 o'clock for two people. We got lucky and got to sit inside because that's where we wanted to sit although they do have sidewalk or outdoor seating as well. I thought sitting inside would be cooler, but I was wrong as all the doors and windows were open and I don't believe the AC was on at all. Well, the menu is pretty extensive. I will say that a vegetarian could definitely eat here as well as anyone else. This is our first visit here and as you can tell from the photos ordered quite a bit of food. And typical top of style the portions are pretty small, but they are meant to be shared. It was actually too much food for two people who were already hungry. Some of the standouts were definitely the meatballs and the salad salads. The jamon iberico was absolutely incredible. Not pictured was the picture of sangria we ordered. We got the rosé and to be quite honest with all of the heat. It actually watered down way too quickly. And it also came in a plastic picture, which was a bit of a turn off. The shrimp with garlic was good, but the garlic was hard to taste because it was also covered or doused in a lot of tomato base or tomato sauce. I was really looking forward to a very clear buttery or olive oil sauce that was saturated with garlic. The mushrooms were OK as well, but again too much tomato in this dish that I'm not used to. The potatoes were also very tasty and well seasoned, and the sauce on it was just right. I think this is a good option for people who want top us in the suburbs however, I will say that I hope they do some tweaking to the recipes as well so that they have something that truly makes them stand out and unique.

Miskatonic is the best reason to go to Darien, but you should also check out this Naperville location and drink up. Has quite a few beers on tap and a good variety of different stuff to choose from. There's also a pretty big food menu of salads and sausages. Getting here was kind of fun but it was annoying. It's hard to find parking around this brewery especially in evenings. There's the parking garage that you'll have to walk from. Know The Lantern is almost across the street and you'll be close. This is in the middle of a row of restaurants. Once inside we were able to get a table, but found a better location to get drinks and food ordered at the bar. The beer I got was the Vox. It's $7 for a pint. This is a pilsner that's real smooth. She got the Midnight Rider, a sour ale. The other beer we got was the West Coast Wizard, an IPA. All were good. They have a pretty big food menu. It's about $16 for a sausage entree. You can substitute a veggie sausage. A few flavors to choose from, but most of these come with bacon. The Nurnberger Bratwurst is topped with mustard and sauerkraut. Makes sense getting that one and substituting it with the veggie sausage of course. They also often have live music. Hearing great things about it and these are true apparently. It's closed Mondays. There's tons of beers as well as sausages that can be made for vegetarians.
