We consistently build our schedule to be here on our way south. Last night continued the tradition of exquisite food, wine and amazing people. I started with mushroom soup that was creamy and very flavorful. Wayne went for a seared tuna appetizer. For entrees I was so excited to enjoy Chef Chucks TV dinner special of wood fired Colorado white trout, a fried green tomato, broccoli & apple salad. Look at the pic and try NOT to drool! Wayne had duck breast and was really pleased with the flavor. We weren't going for dessert, but somehow it appeared and I think me may have licked the bowl. I told my boyfriend I would take him to any restaurant on the treasure coast for his birthday. He chose Fire and Wine. The appetizers were big enough to be an entree. I had the tuna which was perfectly prepared! I was not impressed with the wasabi coleslaw, also the dijon accents competed with the slaw, not in a good way. Our entrees were just okay. This is a hole in the wall located in a Winn Dixie plaza, and there is simply a sign "diner" on the outside. This place is run by a fabulous duo- the Chef working in the open kitchen and Roger, the front man. Known for his friendliness and great Hawaiian shirt collection, he is a sweet character who always makes guests feel welcome the moment they enter. This place isn't big - it's a quaint, somewhat intimate, and bustling place. Their open kitchen has bar seating around it to sit at for the meal, and they have tables inside only. There are large chalkboards with handwritten specials for the day and it gets me excited to see what they've come up with for each visit! Sitting at the bar is wonderful - kind of like dinner and a show! But the tables are great too. They always have great options on their regular menu... the crispiest and most perfect french fries served with a side of cheese fondue for dipping. Heaven! Great filet, wonderful daily fish specials, and a truly wonderfully crafted Ahi Tuna appetizer that we love! They also start you with their homemade biscuits and holy shit are they yummy! Dessert is hard to be missed here because their creations are well executed and always enticing! Servers are wonderful, and we usually have Dave. He is super efficient, professional, and friendly. You would never know a 5 star dining experience is waiting for you behind the door! We have found our new happy place! Ahi Tuna app served on a spicy slaw. So fresh , with just the right spank ! My husband loved it! My app was a Spanish style soup with chorizo & grilled monk fish ( I think ) super good . I had pork ribeye with Tuscan glaze. Pork cooked to perfection! my husband had the crab cake. Pimento cheese creamed spinach! Wow! Desserts? A must have. French toast bread pudding. Super!! Butterscotch tart was perfect! Sometimes butterscotch can be overpowering, this was not. Ending the meal with a cup of coffee from a local coffee roaster ( I think). Was strong with no bite at all. We sat at the chef's counter as it was the only reservation available. We had the best seat in the house. Watching the fluid movement of the 3 chefs was a symphony to the eyes! This place is my new favorite in Vero - the food is imaginative and delicious. Last night I had their version of French Onion Soup - with apple and beef. One word....Superb! There is limited seating so highly recommend you make reservations in advance. They are open only for dinner on Tuesdays thru Saturdays from 5-9 pm. While the menu is limited, they offer additional nightly appetizer and entree specials, and the variety of choices is balanced. Entree prices range from about $28-$40. Complimentary biscuits arrive to the table after beverages have been served. They are homemade and tasty. We had the $18 tuna appetizer with a coleslaw and wasabi sauce mixture which had a lot of flavor. Our table also had the $12 escargot appetizer which was equally as good. One of us had the seared duck breast over cheese lasagna ($28) and the other had the Pastry Lump Crabcake with asparagus. Everything was seasoned and cooked to perfection. We were too full for desserts, but they do offer nice choices if you have room left to treat yourself. Service was excellent, and one of the Owners stopped by our table to say hello and check on our meals. It's nice to support locally owned restaurants and to have the owners onsite who genuinely enjoy interacting with those dining with them. Fire and Wine created a delicious homemade pasta with seafood, the chef special TV dinner consisted of roast duck in a wine demi-glaze, sweet potato risotto and a side of spinach. Strawberry shortcake parfait and warm carrot cake bread pudding with praline cookies. BY FAR the best dinner we have enjoyed in years!! A hidden gem of a place in a surprising location. Generally speaking, restaurants located in a strip mall aren't known for their food but this place is solid. We were warmly greeted by the host (who may have been the owner) and the great service continued throughout the meal. We had the tuna appetizer, the shrimp pasta and the TV dinner. And while everything was good, the TV dinner with the trout (I think) was the star. The crème brûlée for dessert was ok as well, but to be fair, I'm not really a dessert person. For apps we had the tuna sliced so thing on slaw and wontons, and calamari was not greasy the citing was mysteriously good like corn chips and the sauce a delight. We had a tantalizing white wine. Dessert was also incredible: white choc crème brûlée, upside down banana pecan cake, bread pudding all so very delicious. I can't wait to go again. OMG I almost forgot another star of the meal, the fondue fries...so yummy definitely last meal item!! We travel around the world trying dishes from various cultures. We found one of the most incredible food places in Vero Beach. It would be worth driving 2 hours to eat at this place. The menu had 5 appetizers and 5 entrees The descriptions were so good we ordered one of everything. They started by serving a cream biscuit. OMG! This was so delicious! When I take a bite of truly incredible food, I get goosebumps. I didn't expect it from a biscuit. Ok! These are the incredible appetizers from Fire and Wine. 4 out of 6 of these are out of this world. Only 5 shown. The other was very good. The taste of these appetizers was 5++ Stars. The lump crab cheesecake with old bay creme fraiche - What a Taste sensation!! The special seared tuna over wasabi slaw! Wow! So good! You can only hope they have this as its normally not in the menu - it was a daily special! Another special, not shown, was their corn chowder coconut lump crab soup! Heavenly, must try! I could have this every day. The herbed Summer mushroom is good. It was not incredible like the others. I think it is because the others were so over the top new taste! The street corn Caesar salad. What a great spin on a Caesar salad. Delicious. Another must try. The last one was a crispy mac and cheese. This was perfectly crispy and the relish made it phenomenal! The unpretentious location is in a Winn Dixie anchored shopping center. The dining area is 12 ft wide with open kitchen in front as you walk in. First off were house made fresh, hot Biscuits. The sweet corn Caesar salad had home made croutons that gave a good crunch to it. What a hidden gem! This restaurant is so unassuming, that you might think you're in the wrong place when you arrive at the strip mall it's located at. Roger, the owner, handled our phone reservation, came to speak with us several times during our meal, and even brought us some special selected wine bottles that were not on the menu yet (he's also a highly rated sommelier). I've read reviews about not letting the outside appearance fool you and I couldn't agree more. We were greeted and seated by Roger upon our arrival. We had reservations and I highly recommend calling ahead for a reservation. You most likely will not get a table. The inside is quaint and intimate, yet warm and welcoming. Missy was our server and she was absolutely amazing! She was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. You'll definitely want to ask for her! Okay, let's get to the deliciousness...I had the tuna sashimi appetizer and my husband had the duck sausage and waffle appetizer. The tuna sashimi was perfection. The duck sausage and waffle had my mouth watering and I wanted more. Our entrees were the sea bass with risotto and asparagus and filet steak with a spinach ravioli. Two phenomenal displays of love on a plate. The service is outstanding, and to say the food is delicious is an understatement. Our appetizers, tuna sashimi and the pan fried scallops . (Barramundi) that I forgot to take a picture. Favorite find in Vero Beach. This small but cozy restaurant is the perfect option for a nice outing whether it's date night or a birthday. Make sure to lake reservations because this place is rightfully busy. The food was fantastic - if they have the sushi grade tuna with honey soy and wasabi glaze and wontons you have to try it. The tuna was thinly sliced and delicious served with a crisp coleslaw and a honey soy sauce with the right kick of wasabi. I got the special: barramundi with wild mushrooms, garlic spinach, mini carrots, and a lemon butter sauce all served over a seared corn pancake which had a wonderful delicious amount of corn and no hints of being overly fried or oily. Fresh ingredients perfectly prepared. My friend got one of the other specials which was tenderloin with frites and an insanely delicious gruyere fondue. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly medium and was so tender. They have their own pastry chef and we got two phenomenal desserts. A strawberry crumb cake with strawberry thyme basil sorbet and the sorbet was so smooth with strong and refreshing herb notes. We also got the chocolate pot de creme which was so velvety, rich, and delicious and came with homemade whipped cream and these little pieces of white chocolate bark.
