It's my first time here, I was welcomed by Alex. Was planning on just grabbing a beer but this place is awesome! Then the owner, Rajan, was super friendly and enjoying a lamb burger that caught me and another gentleman's eye. So I had to order the Lamb Tiki Masala. 10/10 meal and still have some leftovers to enjoy at home. They also have pool tables and outdoor seating. Overall, highly recommend giving this place a visit. It's one of my favorite bars on the street and only going to become more and more popular once others find it! Thank you Firangi!
No wait time for party of 2 on a Friday around 6:30pm. Service could have been a lot better though - we waited a very long time for a box and the bill even though the workers were visiting other tables and I could see them chatting on the back patio. Portion sizes are good but I've had better butter chicken. I also got the monsoon mojito which was really bitter from the mint leaves and not enjoyable.
Nice ambience and located in a good location. I agree with the other reviews that the flavor is bit lacking at least for my Indian tastebuds. The vindaloo is marked as spicy but tasted like ketchup and Sweet. Overall they could use some more spice and flavor in each dish. Service otherwise is friendly and warm. It can get a bit hot during afternoon heat but manageable. I would recommend if it suites your palate.
The restaurant is beautiful! Very nicely decorated. The service was amazing! Very attentive. The waiter even gave us a free dessert because it was our first visit. The food was good. The mocktail drinks were the most delicious things that got 5 stars and the garlic naan was delicious too!! I can't wait to go back to try some of their Indian specialty bowls. You won't be disappointed!
I met a couple of buddies here and we had a great time. Since we were the only ones in the restaurant, we had great service. We all ordered the butter chicken wraps with fries and it was delicious! I also ordered a mango lassi drink and was too full to finish the entire wrap. I ended up letting my wife have it for dinner. Definitely coming back here again.
Food here is Bombay. Wonderful customer service and a nice ambiance. Come during a event and its LIT.
This place is super cute! Not a traditional Indian restaurant, but they do a good job of delivering the flavors in their own way. We started out with chai tea, and mango lassi, both of them amazing. For appetizers, we got the Firangi Fried Chicken and Samosa. The flavor of the chicken was good, but the coating on it was honestly kind of soggy. The samosas were very large and delicious. I'm a huge fan of both of the sauces that came with the appetizers. My friend had the Chana masala and she said it was good but the sauce was just a tad on the watery side. My other friend got the tandoori chicken bowl and I had the hellish shrimp bowl. We were both super happy with the bowls. They came with Naan bread, korma vegetables and some saffron rice. I thought the shrimp was fantastic, loved how it was breaded in a chickpea crust with a sweet-and-sour sauce. Not really traditional Indian, but really tasty. The korma vegetables were outstanding but I was not a huge fan of the rice. I would've just had a regular basmati rice if I had a choice. My friend said that the tandoori Chicken outstanding that was in her bowl. I loved the atmosphere inside the restaurant. Very cute, colorful and playful. Our server was fantastic and lightning fast. I would definitely return if I was in the area.
Some of the best Indian food I've ever had!! I think the owner is the main server. She takes pride in her restaurant/food and it shows. We love how cute the bar is! The pool tables are a nice touch as well. They have some outside tables if you prefer eating outside. This is a newer restaurant on Grand and quickly is becoming one of our favorite places to go out!
So glad we finally got an Indian restaurant in the Escondido area, it was long overdue. It's downtown Escondido but there's still plenty of street parking or in the maple plaza lot. We came here for an early lunch during a weekend, and it wasn't too busy. The decor is freshly painted bright teal and white, and the server was pleasant. We ordered the chicken tikka Masala medium spicy. While the flavor was good, it didn't really seem to be as hot as we expected, although you could taste the spices. I also ordered the saag as its always a go to of mine. I order it mild level and I was happy with it. It was very smooth and light tasting. The garlic naan was fresh and very good, just a little crispy like i like it. We also had the samosas that had potato base. I usually prefer the lamb ones, which they dont have, but these were good. If you enjoy Indian food and live in Escondido you should definitely come, especially since it's one of the only options for this cuisine..
This place is awesome. Very unique vibe seeing as there is a pool table on one end of the restaurant. Service was fantastic. Everyone was so helpful and friendly. As for the food! Delicious ! We really enjoyed our meal
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Can't thank the host enough for his hospitality and accommodation. We were a group of 8 and we chose to sit outside in the patio. The tables were joined and chairs were set ready for us in no time. I tried their Nimbu Paani, Malai Kofta, and Green Rogan Josh curry. Both the entrees come with rice. You can order roti or naan on the side if you want. The curries tasted very authentic, spiced, and delicious. The host was super friendly, adding riddles to our mix and also gave out desserts ( Chocomosa with Pistachio ice cream and Gulab Jamun) on the house. They were a great combo and tasted like they should. They've a nice ambience to play pool if you're in a mood for it and a bar for drinks. Definitely coming back to try other dishes on their menu. Keep it up, Firangi!

This place isn't just a restaurant -- it's a full-blown lounge with style. First thing you notice is the vibe. Beautiful Tiffany-colored interior, elegant lighting, and a stunning marble bar that looks like it belongs in some high-end lounge in London or Dubai. Very classy, very comfortable, very cool. But wait... it gets better. POOL TABLES! And not just decoration -- actual playable tables. $1 a game! I nearly fell off my chair. I haven't played in ages. When I was younger I used to be pretty serious about pool, so naturally I had to grab a cue and see if I still had the magic. Let's just say... the spirit is still there, even if the aim needs a little polishing. They even run pool tournaments on Saturdays, which is amazing. So now suddenly dinner can turn into a little friendly competition. I'm already planning my comeback tour. Now about the food -- absolutely authentic and delicious. Real Indian flavors, beautifully presented, rich spices, and clearly prepared with care. Everything we tried was excellent and I'm already planning my next visit because I have to try the lamb. I've heard it's fantastic. A special thank-you to Sky, the lady boss of this place. She is super friendly, incredibly polite, and very professional. Located on Grand Avenue in the former 'Vinz' unit next to the Patio Playhouse Theater, it's nice to have an option for Indian food in Escondido. The restaurant is fairly spacious with indoor and outdoor dining, a long bar, and a couple of pool tables in a connected room/area. I found the decor/atmosphere slightly stark and more 'café' than 'gastropub'. Maybe that changes on busy evenings. The food was great, although we noticed they didn't ask about a 'spice level' -- it was a mild one-size-fits-all spice. A nice touch was a metal water vessel that was provided on the table with metal cups. The owner was friendly. The waitress was slightly odd. Wait time for food was a tiny bit slow. There's a single unisex restroom off the back patio, accessed by code. Ample parking on the surrounding streets and in free public lots. Watch out for 2-hour limit signs. New Indian restaurant on Grand. They are in their Soft Opening stages, so they are still getting their bearings- please more thorough dish cleaning (had lipstick on my cup), would benefit from a water pitcher at every table (instead of pouring water into each cup, our server took all of our cups, filled them & randomly returned it to us Russian Roulette style), please check on your tables more frequently. It is also nice when the restaurant has their staff sample the menu so they can give recommendations or describe flavors to the customers, our server told us that they have not tried many of the dishes/cocktails. Nonetheless, service was friendly! The food was amazing. We were told that there will be many more dishes added once they have their Grand Opening so look out for that. They have beers on draft, wine & cocktails. Curry Mac N Cheese: I do not know who Luke is but I can see how this is his favorite dish! Creamy & flavorful. Dynamite Wings: Delicious sauce & juicy meat. Samosa Slim: A must order! Love their dipping sauce. Chicken Tikki Masala: Their sauce is super tasty, with just a hint of spiciness. Garlic Naan: Good. I found this restaurant thanks to the find me gf app. Definitely a gem that we'll return to anytime we're in Escondido. Everything was flavorful and authentic (per my step-dad who lived in India for several years). They have so many yummy gluten free options including Indian latkes and chickpea battered fried chicken (both so good). Also loved the curries, rice, chutneys, pickle and papadam. Can't wait to return! read more

We came in for the soft opening. The restaurant looks very put together for still being updated. You can tell that they're still working on the decor but otherwise I love how bright and open the space is. There was 1 worker who was manning the whole place when we came in but despite that the service was great. He was very friendly and answered all of our questions. I didn't catch his name but even the food runner who brought out our food was so kind. As for the food, we started out with the curry fries and the cheese naan. I didn't get a picture of the naan but it was delicious! The cheese was inside the naan and on top it had this delicious mango chutney. The curry fries were delicious too and had a bit of a coconut flavor. I ordered the chicken tikka BBQ and it came with a side of masala and it was delicious! I loved how smoked the chicken was. Overall we will all be coming back. They had some very interesting looking cocktails so we'll be coming back to try those! read more
I'm so happy this place has opened in Escondido. What a great experience, right in the middle of Grand. I ordered the Layover in Bombay cocktail which was delicious. For food I ordered the samosas and chicken wings. The samosas were pretty authentic with the ingredients and spices, and the sauces to dip them in were tasty! The chicken wings were so good that I only got a picture of the last one. They were sooo good and nice and juicy on the inside. The server was wonderful although I cant remember her name. It was busy when we were there during Cruisin' Grand, and she did a great job making sure we were never waiting long. I can't wait to go back for more! read more

I had a lovely light strawberry champagne cocktail and a lunch special bowl, chicken vindaloo. It had a great spicy kick, but there are other choices too. The bowl came with chicken vindaloo, veggies, rice and naan and it was all delicious. The atmosphere is relaxing, but uplifting. Service was excellent. I'm so glad I finally got a chance to try this place. I'll be back. read more

We stopped in to get a nice quick lunch just as Firangi opened today. They've recently remodeled the space and the interior decor is really nice. We ordered the Slim Samosas, the green Rogan Josh, and the Chicken Tikka Masala. The samosas were the best I've ever had! They were so flavorful and crispy. They came with two chutneys and both were delicious. One was a green herb chutney and the other was a sweet chutney. Both of the curries were perfectly spicy and rich with tender meat. The rice was perfectly cooked. We will definitely be back. read more

I have been going here since they opened, and everything they make is delicious. I decided to invite some girlfriends here for happy hour and it was amazing. Lots of great choices. Both the food and drinks were delicious and different than the usual. We had so much fun. The only change I would have made is the TVs were playing News feeds. Right now I'm going there to escape the bad in the world, I don't need the reminders. Music videos or sports would be better choices. read more

I saw Friangi during a local car show and it seemed poppin'! What got me to try this place out was from a friend's recommendation and I am so happy that I did! I love that there is an Indian restaurant on Grand to really "spice things up". There is plenty of indoor and out door seating. Pool tables are open to play for a $1. The food is a fusion of Indian and American cuisine. A perfect example of this is their Curry Fries (which I highly recommend trying) and their Curry Mac N' Cheese. Their Samosas are also very flavorful and delicious! I'm vegan so I was beyond thrilled to see that they offer many vegan options! The vibes are so chill and laid back. Service is on point and I was lucky enough to meet the owner who is so kind and welcoming. He took the time to get to know me and other customers and always greeted anyone walking through the door with a "hello". At the time of this review, they have been open for around a month. Whether you want chill place for an afternoon beer or a date night, this place has definitely got you covered. Firangi is a MUST! read more
This is a pretty new place so I graded it on a curve. First, everything was delicious and flavorful. Some of the best tasting Indian cuisine I've had in a long time. The restaurant also had a unique feel to it. Kind of beachy and bright. The servers were very friendly and did a great job for the most part. Some of the things we ordered didn't make it to the table and my order was wrong. That said, what I did have was so tasty I didn't care. This type of thing is to be expected during a soft opening. I'm sure with a little time, training and TLC, this place will be a mainstay on Grand Ave. read more

This corner of Esco hasn't held a good restaurant since Vinz left...until now! Hooray for Firangi-which means foreigner btw... They've transformed the space into a welcoming, fresh-feeling, open environment. Menu is an upscaled modern version of Indian food but without any stuffiness. Tried their Indian bruschetta, chicken and vegetable korma, garlic naan, karma soup-all spectacular. They are very accommodating and will make changes without huffiness. Can't wait to try more intriguing items. Full bar and local beers on tap. The space is appealing for all types of diners-couples, families, working peeps, people seeking nightlife etc. A truly unique treasure for Esco! read more

There is free street parking outside the restaurant, inside and outside seating, pool tables inside to play games, and delicious food! My wife and I got 3 different foods and loved all of them! In fact, we ate every last bite! Haha! 100% recommend. The food was so flavorful and tasty. It is a little pricey, but not compared to what other Indian food places charge. We will be back! read more

In the photo is the Butter Chicken curry & Masala with Lamb curry! Couldn't recommend this place more! Start with the NaanHummus and get two Cheese Samosas! Then get your curry and a drink- I recommend the Mangonada if you're in search of a mocktail. The customer service 10/10! Everyone was friendly and kept checking in on how everything was tasting. So grateful to have Firangi join the Escondido area, not only for its amazing Indian cuisine, but providing wholesome ambiance where guests are invited to hangout and stay awhile. Not something you find in the traditional atmosphere. The owner and his family are lovely. We got to know Raj himself, who shared he envisioned a community atmosphere to welcome diverse clientele. The customer service was superb and a reason we will absolutely be returning. We tried a variety of appetizers on the menu from the samosa's, to the latkes, impressed with each dish and its authentic flavors. We appreciated the diversity in the menu marrying Indian cuisine with pub style bites. A hit are their curry fries we intend to try next time. The curry's are also to die for, each uniquely flavored. Give this small business a try & stay awhile, you won't be disappointed! read more

We were greeted with a big hello when we came in. The menu was great Skye our server was so helpful. She let us taste the spiced iced tea and made some recommendations. The tandoori salad and the Curry chicken bowl were just perfect and so tasty. We had some time constraints, so the food came quickly enough and skye was able to get us out with time to spare. The decor was fun and we decided to sit in the windowsill. The spiced iced tea was also great just enough flavor. We will come back. read more
