I was very pleased with my experience at the Vintana restuarant located above the LEXUS dealer in Escondido. They offer a HAPPY HOUR from 2-5 pm and their food selection and drink selection is interesting, unique and delicious. The atmosphere of sitting up high on the 3rd floor is very nice. It is somewhat wind and sun protected and plenty big for accommodating large crowds. The manager was nice enough to allow individual checks for each of our 9 guests and we appreciated that. I ordered 2 delicious COCONUT MARGARITAS and chicken speared on wooden sticks with a peanut sauce under an ample bed of thin noodles. The drinks were $10 each and the appetizers ordering off their happy hour menu were also $10 each. Service was very good. Another added plus - parking is conveniently located on the 3rd floor - just drive up the ramp located behind the building and enter on upper floor. Most favorite dish was the Brie, mussels, and salad. Least favorite was the sweet noodles on the chicken skewers plate. The outside patio seating was nice but quite limited. The food and service was GREAT! The bread and butter, really soft and delicious. My steak was perfect. The butter cake was so good too! The only reason I'm leaving 4 stars is because of how we were seated. Some of us had to basically crawl over the chairs to get to our seat. And to go to the bathroom, like 3 of us had to get up and move and again basically crawl over the chairs. Wasn't even worth going back to their seats so they stayed standing up. Love this location, just such a surprising spot for a nice restaurant. Have come for Happy Hour on the patio in the past, what a beautiful backdrop. This last time my husband and I split a chef's meal for two with a whole Branzino two ways, a side salad with yellow squash and risotto. Although the fish tasted good, there were so many bones you could hardly take a bite. The squash salad was weird, several people at my table tried it and didn't like it. The risotto was fabulous. The portions are great and the prices are on par with other locations. Will definitely be back, one disappointing meal doesn't account for a whole experience. Vintana Wine + Dine is known as the "modern elegance" in North County. I've always been curious about this dining destination and was excited to find out it was on the San Diego Restaurant Week list. I was ready to wine-n-dine! My GPS took me to a Lexus dealership but I saw the signage for the restaurant which reassured me I was at the correct location. The drive into the dealership was a little odd, but the good signage directed me to the parking in front of the restaurant. Suprisingly, it's located on the upper level of the stylish building. The first impression really matters to me so when the hostess at the reception area warmly welcomed me, I felt right at home. I didn't have to wait too long to be escorted to my table. As I walked through the restaurant, I was impressed by the beautiful decor and the romantic atmosphere. During my dinner, the servers were attentive and knowledgeable. Kevin, my waiter, had some good suggestions for the SDRW menu. The service from all of them was consistent like a well-oiled machine. My entree was exquisitely delicious...love anything braised and really loved the crunchiness of the vegetables but when it came to the dessert I was hoping it would be on the warm side. Wonderful experience from start to finish! We were welcomed by live music, a talented woman singing and playing piano, which set such a beautiful tone while we waited for our table. The ambiance is incredibly romantic, with dim lighting that creates the perfect mood for a date night or special celebration. We were seated on the patio next to a fireplace and stayed warm and cozy all evening. There was also a private party happening in a separate section with a DJ, which made it a bit louder at times, but honestly, I enjoyed the lively atmosphere and music. A huge shoutout to our server, Alberto, he was incredible. Friendly, attentive, and full of great recommendations. His service alone would make me want to come back again. For food, we ordered the sesame-crusted baked brie, kung pao calamari, half roasted chicken, seafood paella, and a side of red velvet cake--everything was delicious. The mocktail "Prickly Without the Pear" was a great as well, perfectly balanced, sweet, and tart. The location itself is unique (on top of a Lexus dealership!) with stunning decor that adds to the whole experience. This is definitely a spot I'd recommend for a special night out. This is a really cool restaurant! It's situated on top of a lexus dealership! So you can come here expecting some awesome views because you're essentially on the 3rd floor of the complex. The restaurant is huge. Lots of tables and very spacious. The waitstaff were incredibly cool and polite. The ambiance wasn't loud but also not library-quiet. This is a perfect place for a date or a group dinner. Their house bread is really unique. It's basically a big hollow bread puff that's seasoned. Their steak is cooked perfectly well. It's tender, juicy, and full of flavor. We also got their sea bass which was amazing. I'd get this one again too. The fish was really tender and essentially fell apart. Super tasty and savory. Easy rooftop parking. I liked the vibe here. People dress up and larger parties are easily accommodated. We saw many tables of 6 or 8. We enjoyed an anniversary dinner here and they made it feel special with a card and dessert. The house popovers that they bring out by default with jalapeño butter are magical. Overall... fantastic. Let's start from the beginning. It was a friends birthday celebration. Six of us met at the bar for a drink prior to our 7pm reservations. Drinks were good, but boy howdy are they spendy. Our host checked us in for dinner at 7 and we were sat at 7:22. What's the point of a reservation if they make you wait. Was not a good first impression. While waiting we stood near what seemed to be an entrance to the kitchen. As you can see from the photo, there was a trolley with many desserts just sitting out. No idea why or what for, but it looked unsightly and made me question their sanitary food handling standards. Once seated things went smoothly. Our server was perfection. Really. She made all types of accommodations for us and made the evening go smoothly. The rest of the service team was also superb. All food arrived together and even though some of us were on the pre fixe restaurant week, three course menu and others chose from the regular menu (courses we're all messed up) it worked fine and that level of detail was appreciated. Tuna 9 out of ten Lobster bisque 10 out of 10 Chicken breast 8 out of 10 (one serving was dry) - the flavores were huge and fantastic Short ribs 9 out of 10 Ribeye 7 out if 10. Ordered MR came high end of medium but it tasted good. Pumpkin hummus 8 out of 10 Tomato bisque 10 out of 10 The desserts were hit and miss. Truffle was amazing. Choco brownie was stellar. The apple pie tasted store bought. Not bad, just meh. As the night closed we got the bill and it was no problem to split it. About $600 plus tip. They added a 5% charge, which when we asked, they took off. As you know, I am 100% against these charges. Make your prices reflect the cost of doing business. When I heard that my work dinner was going to be held at Vintana, I was so excited; this restaurant has been on my list for a while now! First, location. Vintana is located on the third floor of a Lexus dealership, which is definitely an interesting and out-of-place feature. On the bright side, the venue is very large and easy to find. The parking lot is on the side of the building--just follow the signs leading up the structure. Now the restaurant itself is really beautiful. The ambiance is lively, gorgeous, and refined. It is truly a great spot for the vibes alone. You practically forget you're at a dealership (until you look outside, haha). With a place this nice, it should be no surprise that the service was similarly great. Our waiters were hustling to get our plates served and cleared. However, my colleague did complain that the bartender seemed to overlook her while she was trying to place an order. That being said, I wasn't there, so I can't speak much on this interaction. Finally, onto the review of the food! Unfortunately, this is where my review may get a bit critical. First, we had a charcuterie board laid out for appetizers. The meat selection was pretty solid, but the cheeses were very basic. The breads were too crispy for me, almost to the point of being straight-up crackers. Second, we were each served a popover (a type of bread that somewhat reminded me of a giant cream puff sans the cream). I liked the texture of this, and it was fun to eat. Sadly, it was slightly burnt, so all I could taste was char. Next, we had a salad with mixed greens, corn, croutons, and strawberries. I liked that the dressing could come on the side! The strawberries added a nice freshness to the dish, which was overall good but nothing crazy. For the main entree, we had a white fish and steak over a bed of asparagus and mashed potatoes. I loved the mashed potatoes, which were creamy and seasoned beautifully. However, the proteins were rather disappointing. The steak was very tough, so much so that I struggled to chew it. Although the fish was soft and flaky, the seasoning really threw me off. I'm not sure how to explain it, but my coworkers and I agreed that it was just a very odd flavor palette. Finally, dessert was a slice of red velvet cake. I am a dessert lover and by no means picky. That being said...I was still let down by this cake! And it takes a lot for me to be let down by a sweet treat. Visually, it was stunning, sure. But the flavor was rather tasteless. I kept taking a bite, but honestly, I was not tasting much of anything besides the strawberry sauce on top. The best part of this dish was probably the two dollops of cream cheese frosting. Overall, I enjoyed the ambiance and convenience of Vintana, but I was really disappointed by the food. Cool spot over the Lexus dealer in Esco. Pretty nice upscale place that was poppin on a Saturday night. I went with a NY strip with a side of broccolini. Strip was cooked just how I like and super flavorful. I can't remember the sauce that came with it but it was good. The broccolini was also good I just prefer broccoli. Also had a wedge Cesar which was a great starter. Plenty of seating but it can be busy even if you have a reservation. Parking is at the top and generally there's always something open. read more

What an absolutely wonderful happy hour lunch experience on Sunday. The value alone was impressive--every entrée and drink was only $10!!! The food was a highlight. I'm allergic to seafood but my partner said the ceviche was fresh and bright, and the Korean barbecue wings were outstanding--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and easily a favorite at the table! I also enjoyed a non-alcoholic prickly (without the pear) drink, which was refreshing! We ended up ordering several items, and everything we tried was enjoyable and well prepared! Service, while just a tad slow, was completely understandable given how great the deal was and how busy they were. What really stood out was how friendly and kind the staff were throughout the meal. High Expectations, Lackluster Execution I really wanted to love this spot based on the menu and reviews, but the experience was a letdown. Despite arriving 15 minutes early for our 1:00 PM Saturday reservation, we were met with a lukewarm greeting from the hosts. The Service: It was a series of misses. Our wine took 25 minutes to arrive, and while our server mentioned a brunch menu, she never actually produced one--even after acknowledging it was missing. It took another 20 minutes just to place our order, and my water glass remained empty for the duration of the meal. Please also note they include a 5% additional fee for service and costs so this felt insulting. The Food: While the presentation was beautiful and "aesthetically pleasing," the flavors didn't match the visuals. The soup, salad, and fish and chips were all surprisingly bland. The Silver Lining: On the plus side, parking and signage are excellent, and the environment is great for large groups (if you aren't in a rush). Good friends wanted to take us to dinner to celebrate my birthday from last week. I suggested Vintana Wine + Dine and they secured a table for four next to the window and requested Ireland to be our server. Ireland is a fantastic server, wonderful personality and is studying to be a lawyer. She was remarkable. We started our evening with a cocktail (mind you, we had already polished off a couple outstanding bottles of wine). I ordered the Kinoko Old Fashioned. It was made with shiitake infused suntori toki whisky + madeira + brown sugar simple + house bitters. It was outstanding. We started our dinner splitting a Romaine Hearts Caesar Salad. This was baby gem romaine dressed with lemon anchovy dressing, garlic croutons, shaved Parmesan and a soft boiled egg. It was delicious. For my entree I went with the Macadamia & Coconut Crusted Sea Bass which came with garlic mashed potatoes, Sea Beans, roasted pineapple salsa and a ginger lime beurre blanc. It was a nice portion and very tasty. No birthday celebration is complete without dessert. I chose the Triple Chocolate Brownie with dollops of chocolate mousse, vanilla ice cream and ganache. Perfect ending to an outstanding dinner. Our dinner at Vintana was truly a five star event. Great view, outstanding service and delicious food. A wonderful memory made with good friends. Being on the rooftop of this parking garage only provides this restaurant with theeee most amazing sunset views. If you come on the weekends, sit outdoors and enjoy the live band and firepit. It is so nice and relaxing, such a great vibe in the summertime! Birthday dinner for a friend yesterday night at Vintana! Location is very lovely with modern drop lights and expansive views through the floor to ceiling glass windows. Service was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. Some food we ordered at the table: -Braised short ribs: I was told by the person eating it, there was grits of sand or dirt on the roasted vegetables (not clean). The quality of the meat was good, quite tender and fell apart with a fork. -Chilean Seabass: also quite tasty, not as thick a piece as I am used to getting, but very flavorful. -Lobster Mac and Cheese (it's actually a side, but comes out like a full size dinner serving). Presentation was spectacular, flavor of the sauce was good. Major problems: there was tons of bacon pieces in it (not listed on the menu), which I really dislike. I should have sent it back to be remade, but did not have time. So packed it to go for someone else at the table that likes bacon a lot! Lobster on the side was unrecognizable as lobster meat. I would like to see some larger claw or other pieces in there. Bottom line: would I go back? Maybe, it's a little expensive. Pro tips: Park on the 3rd (top) level of the parking garage, the door to the restaurant and bar is located on that level. Ask what's included in the dishes. I ordered lobster mac and cheese - the lobster meat was shredded so thin, I could not recognize it as lobster (it's not claw and body pieces), and the had a TON of bacon bits added (which I dislike), that were NOT listed on the menu. Then we came here again a couple months later to celebrate my parents' anniversary, and had a completely unpleasant experience that time around...both with food and with service. The service was extreeeeeemely slow, the food didn't taste that great, everything was off.... We won't go to Vintana again. The waitress was excellent, but she couldn't make up for the lousy food. The brie appetizer was a complicated experience and not worth it. The ahi was blah and the accompanying rice and veggies were lukewarm. Our friend's filet mignon was waaay overcooked and she sent it back... We haven't made a been there many times over the years, but won't be back. read more

Great place for Happy Hour or catching up with girl friends. They have happy hour 2-5pm (quite a bit of food and drink options for $10). Finding this location is a little hard the first time as you have to go through a dealership and then navigate to the top of a parking garage to find the entrance. They do have indoor & outdoor dining available. The patio does have heaters for when it's chilly. read more

I am extremely disappointed. Our reservation was this Saturday night and I should have known something was off. There were hardly any patrons in the main dining area. The service was lacking, I took my 17 year old son out as a treat and it was anything but that. I ordered a caesar salad ( didnt snap a pic but should have ) that had croutons on it the size of tiny legos. We both ordered the filet mignon medium rare and a side of their creamed corn. My steak was blue inside and his was overdone. There was no flavor to the steak so I ordered some bernaise. The server came out with this brown gravy. I told her it was not bernaise so she left and came back with something that sort of resembled the sauce. the creamed corn was mashed completely up like baby food and had popcorn on top. I had to send it back it was so gross. I am so upset that cost $164. If you know me and see my reviews it takes a lot for me to say something bad but I will always be honest. This once nice restaurant in Escondido will never get my business again. What a shame. read more

This modern American fusion spot in Escondido features clean, stylish facilities and a tightly run floor team. The service is consistent and professional - a well-oiled machine. The Food The Standout: The Black Mussels were the highlight. Plump and fresh, served in a flavorful coconut curry sauce (slightly spicy and salty) with grilled toast points. Korean Chicken Wings: Hot, crispy skin with tender meat, coated in a sticky sweet/spicy glaze. Chicken Gyoza: Nicely steamed with soft wrappers. Uniquely presented on a bed of cold noodles with a black sesame/herb crust and fresh veggies. Shishito Peppers: A mix of slightly spicy and sweet flavors, served with a healthy portion of crisp pork belly chunks. Bacon Burger: The half-pound patty and hearty bacon slices were impressive, and the herb-crusted fries were flavorful. The bun was slightly drier than preferred, which held the dish back slightly. Value & Service Happy Hour: Held Tuesday through Sunday in the afternoon. The $10 dishes provide excellent value for the quality of food.
