Take out experience 5/5. This is the best bbq in SF. So tender, perfectly rendered, melt in your mouth fall off the bone deliciousness. I also liked the fusion inspirations in the slaw the sauce and the fried rice. Really unique. Personally I wish there was a plain Mac and cheese option to go with the meat but it was soooooo good I'll definitely be back.
There were several reasons to give this a try: * convenient location before a concert, game, or event * both indoor and outdoor seating * combo Tex BBQ and Indonesian food Hubby & I ate here prior to a Lionel Richie & EWF concert (which ended up being canceled) yesterday Friday. We arrived around 5:30pm. It's counter service. I'd read about the Dino rib so I knew I wanted to try it. Hubby got the Rendang plate. Also got one slice of smoked brisket to try. Pros: * the Dino rib is humongous- it's big enough for two. Fork tender and lots of umami. * the Rendang plate was packed with lots of spices. A bit of fire. Protein, greens, carbs. Cons: * unless you're familiar with the menu, you can't see it behind the counter until you wrap around the corner. * dine in or to go? We ate in but my Dino rib is placed on the tv tray on top of paper only. No plate. It was very busy yesterday due to the Lionel Richie & EWF concert, but we found a shady spot outside. I'd like to come again.
Nice place to get dinner before a concert at Chase Center. It looks to be less busy than Senor Sisig or other restaurants right in Thrive City. There's only 4 seats inside, and the rest is either outside near Chase, or a smaller patio area that may be heated (but it's near the smoker so I think you may end up smelling like smoke a bit). You order at the very left of the counter and then you'll pay at the register. The rendang plate is a substantial portion size. You get some curry kale, fried egg, chips, a sort of pulled smoked brisket, and some sambal. I initially thought the plate would come with the sliced brisket, which looked a bit juicier and flavorful. The brisket in the plate was fairly soft but could be softer and a tiny bit more flavorful. I did have to get most of the flavor from the other dishes on the plate, which was good and bad. If I return, I'd try to get that or the Dino rib although they are on the pricier side (per lb, not sure if you can do half a pound orders).
I've been wanting to try this place for the last two years, but the wait times at the Alameda location--often around two hours--never seemed worth it for what many described as average BBQ. I was excited when this new location opened, and I have to say, it's a beautiful spot. They're lucky to have such a great location. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. The BBQ was just okay overall. The chicken seemed undercooked, and both the brisket and ribs were bland. I was hoping the sausage would be the highlight of the meal, but it was very greasy and lacked flavor as well. On the positive side, the sides were quite good, especially the potato salad. The service was also excellent--the staff was friendly and welcoming throughout our visit. Overall, I'm giving this place 3 stars for the great location, tasty sides, and excellent service. I just hope they can improve the quality and flavor of the BBQ to match the experience. BB
We were a large group and ordered quite a bit so that we could try most of the offered meats. The beef back rib was especially tasty. The dino rib was extremely tender. It had lots of fat on it though. The brisket also was tender and flavorful. The chicken leg quarter had great flavor but was a little on the dry side. For sides, we got the Macaroni Goreng, Coconut Turmeric Rice, and the Rujak Slaw. The macaroni and slaw were very good. The slaw balanced the meats nicely. Order at the counter and then take your food to a table. Most of the meats are priced by the pound. They charge a service charge of 15% for orders over $300, which our order was, but I also tipped at the check-out. I didn't see any prominent signage about the service charge so I double tipped. I look forward to returning again.
Fikscue is the BBQ restaurant that kinda ease my craving for Indonesian food. Their brisket was incredibly tender, succulent, and packed with flavor without being overly fatty, which made every bite satisfying. The rujak slaw instantly reminded me of a combination of pecel and lotek with its rich peanut sauce, although it leaned a little sweeter than what I'm used to. It was a fun and nostalgic side that paired surprisingly well with the BBQ. The prices are very competitive, especially for the quality of the food. If you can, grab one of the outdoor seats. The view is relaxing and makes the whole dining experience even better. For dessert, the es cendol was refreshing and delicious, the perfect way to cool down after a flavorful meal. One tip: don't forget to ask for the sambal matah. It tasted wonderfully authentic and really elevated the meal. If you're Indonesian or simply curious about Indonesian flavors with a BBQ twist, it's definitely worth trying.
Listen, I try not to write that many bad reviews but Fikscue really left me disappointed. When spending $56 dollar on BBQ for one person, can you blame me for setting my expectations high? None of the sides, meats, or desserts were good whatsoever. The rib had more fat than edible meat. The brisket was an oddly too salty but at the same time tasteless. The sides were just there, blandly on the side. In this economy and with all the hype, I expected a lot more. I ended up with $56 worth of food that ended up in the trash. Maybe the original location is better in alameda, but I won't be venturing over any time soon to see.
Come for: beef rib, brisket Know that: can get crowded during game days, and the meat is halal AT LAST, san francisco has a true Texas style bbq joint, but with an Indonesian twist. The spot is your typical self serve bbq joint where you order at the counter, grab a table, and get your own water/sauces/utensil Beef rib (5/5): the star! I am a Terry Black's fanboy and other than Smokin D's - which seems to make beef ribs sporadically - I had yet to find a place to fill this craving. Fikscue did it! A juicy, succulent, flavorful beef rib with a deep bark that pairs so well with their bbq sauces. You MUST get this. Brisket (5/5): also an amazing piece of meat, just slightly losing to the beef rib but without shame. Ask for fatty brisket and enjoy life. Try it with the different bbq sauces. Rendang plate (4/5): really good but as an Asian man, the flavors felt more familiar than what I was expecting from a bbq fusion joint. Still very good. Get it if you want a little switch in flavor. The ambiance is super casual, and the service is homey. You won't be waited on but you'll have people who can help clear plates if it gets overwhelming for the table. The outdoor area is perfect during a nice sunny day. Overall, one of the best bbq spots in the bay area. I'm so happy to have them around.
Visited on a Friday around 2:30pm with three friends, restaurants had several other guest seated on the patio but no line to order when we arrived and everything was still in stock. Food: Beef Back Rib - great, nice tender meat texture that still clung to the bone but was easy to bite through, our piece was a good balance of meaty and fatty, nice dry rub seasoning with a great sweet smokiness, this came without sauce and was very good on its own Smoked Brisket Rendang Plate - good, loved the variety on the plate, rendang had lots of pieces of smoked brisket in savory spiced sauce, curry kale had a nice spice with creamy coconut flavor, coconut rice was great for soaking up the sauces but had some pieces of rice that were a tad hard, fried egg was excellent fun crispy texture with a medium yolk, potato patty was solid, mild seasoning but added nice texture to the dish, pickled onions added some brightness and acidity, picked peppers added tangy heat, bbq sauce was great balanced sweetness and acidity with nice pepper notes not ketchup forward which I appreciated Smoked brisket- okay, nice smokey flavor but didn't have as much rub as the rib ate a touch dry wished this was a bit fattier but maybe we got an off cut Service was solid quick order at the counter your meat, mains and sides, they prep your order and pay at the register and pick up your food. The restaurant itself is small no seating inside just a covered patio outside and some additional patio space in front with umbrellas for shade. We opted for take out and grab indoor seats at harmonic brewery next door. Overall enjoyed Fikscue, the beef back rib in particular was worth a try. Unique take on BBQ loved the fusion of American style BBQ with an Indonesian twist.
My first visit to Fikscue yielded slightly dry and moderately cool brisket, snappy sausage with good seasoning, and way too salty beef cheeks. The staff were all very nice and the line moved quickly. The two sauces were flavorful and nicely complimented the meats. I love BBQ and really wanted to leave Fiksue with a mind blowing impression but thought it was at best an average BBQ experience. Two weeks later I went back during another Valkaries game and ordered more beef cheeks and a sausage. The sausage was consistently tasty, with the same snap and seasoning. The beef cheek was not overly salted and instead was perfectly seasoned while maintaining a delectable tenderness. My assessment is that Fikscue is average BBQ. It by no means is not bad but I do not yearn for it or savor the taste. That said, I will certainly return when at the Chase Center.
I heard a lot of great things about Fikscue, so my friends and I decided to grab a quick dinner here before the Valkyries game. They were not too busy yet when we visited, so we were able to order quickly and get a table outside. I ordered Smoked Beef Cheeks and Mac Goreng. The beef cheeks were tender and had a smoky flavor; I liked the char on the beef cheeks. The mac goreng was interesting. It was like mac and cheese, but it had savory Indonesian flavors. However, both dishes were too salty, so it was hard to enjoy. I honestly thought it was just my food that was salty, but my friends' food was salty too. They had the Rendang Plate, and they didn't like it at all because of the saltiness. I'll probably give Fikscue another try, but not anytime soon. The price is a bit on the pricier side since it is in Thrive City. The view in the seating area is pretty neat, and the staff was nice and welcoming.
SF definitely needed this BBQ spot that combines top notch meat with Indonesian sides. But be prepared to pay a pretty sum! Fikscue gets 4 stars for SAFAV: Service Ambiance Food Alcohol x Value for Money
This location is near chase center and it's pretty nice. I think they have another location in alameda. Really liked the vibes here. The outdoor seating also has a nice view of the waters. Got the sate ayam plate that came with 3 skewers of grilled chicken dressed in the house made peanut sauce, fried rice, fried egg, garlic chips, sliced cucumber, pickled red onions, and a side of the house soy sauce. Also got the smoked ayam lumpia. Both items were delicious and flavorful. I also really like the presentation of the food. Would recommend!

I've been to the Alameda location and became an instant fan, so I was excited to try their Thrive City location. Fikscue's Brisket is the best I've had in the Bay, by far. For Dine-in, it's outdoor seating, so keep that in mind. Service was friendly and helpful. What was a major difference from Alameda was the wait - there was only one person ahead of me at Thrive City. We ordered: Smoked Brisket (5/5) this alone is worth the trip. It's a must try. Beef Back Ribs (4/5) Nasi Goreng (5/5) this Indonesian fried rice pairs so well with the meats! read more

Chill spot at chase center to come when you're out watching the games or looking for a brewery, this spot is right there. Out doors eating has great views of the bay and on a sunny day it's pretty nice to come to. Ordered a brisket sandwich and a chicken skewer plate along with some fries: Brisket sandwich 5/5: oh my lord the brisket is juicy, falls apart, and loaded with smoke and flavor, I almost had to order another one. Dressed in bbq and had some thick cut onions as well, and the bun just soaked up all the juices Skewer plate: very flavorful with the spices, chicken was nice and tender and still juicy, marinated quite well, and had some sambal on top. Rice had umami in it too with it not being just white rice. The fries were also super crispy, fried very nicely golden. Food was ready pretty quick in about 5-10 mins also! Parking wise is kinda bad depending on whether there's a special event, that area is probably some of the most expensive for sf parking. read more

I've been wanting to try the East Bay location forever, but was discouraged by the distance and the infamous line. So I've had my eye on this one. If you're not there for an event at the Chase center, it's maybe a little odd, but it's nice being right off of the water. There's even a nice view from the outdoor seating area or you could take your food across the street and hang in the park and walkways along the bay. You order from the counter where they slice up your meats and serve out premade sides, so the service is pretty fast. There was no outrageous line thankfully. There was a large number friendly faces working behind the counter and in the kitchen, which is so very Indonesian to me. It was delicious and I would love to try the other diverse dishes on the menu. The only nitpick is that I wanted everything to be just a little bit warmer. I've never had that complaint before! Beef Back Ribs: They have the giant "dino rib" short rib cut in addition to these regular back ribs. We opted for the back ribs and they were delicious and still meaty. Good smoke, tender meat and chew on the edges. It seems like they're using a marinade and not a rub. Loved them. Nasi Goreng: I enjoyed this though it's different from nasi goreng that I've had in the past. It was a little heavier on shrimp paste than I prefer, but still good. Rujak Slaw: No notes! Just a really good and crunchy peanutty slaw. It's nice to offset the meat with a nice pile of acidic veggies. Rendang Plate: Classic delicious rendang with fall-apart chunks of beef. It comes with rice, sambal, perkedel (potato fritter), a perfectly crispy-edged fried egg, and a pile of crunchy krupuk. The whole presentation is really nice. read more
Went for lunch today. No line and sat outside with my group of 5. Staff was super awesome. I asked them to throw together a plate of que for 5 so they did. Everything I tried was amazing. Stand out for sure was the brisket. That's the best brisket I've ever had. This place is 5 star legit and if you're a que fan you don't want to miss this place. I've heard great things about this place and it's rare to hear about a good bbq spot in the bay. I came here before a Warriors game and was so exited to try the fusion between Indonesia and Texas bbq. This place is order first as most of the food is already prepared and go find your own seats. Brisket (4/5): So dry spots, but so juicy. The flavor was smoky and juicy. Cheddar jalapeño sausage (5/5); This is great to share as the cheese just bursts with flavor. The sausage is savoring with Indonesian flavors. Mac Goreng (4/5): I thought this was going to be like mi goreng but Mac. It tasted like a Mac n cheese with lots of spice. I thought it was unique to try and it was heavy. This will probably my favorite pregame whenever I go to Warriors games now. read more
Delicious, flavorful food here with beautiful views! We ordered the rendang plate, a small bite portion of chicken skewers, and veggie dumplings. I love how packed my plate was with brisket and the accompanying sides of kale curry, fried egg, potato fritters, rice, and garlic chips. The side of chicken skewers was very substantial too with some sides. We loved everything we ate. The service was quick as most of the food was ready to go, apart from the veggie dumplings, which were made fresh to order. It is important to note that this location is outdoor seating only, but we had perfect weather when we went, and it was super pleasant to sit outside and have a view of the water while we ate. It also definitely gets busy on game days and concert nights so keep that in mind. I would love to go back! read more
Don Juan Valentines Edition: We still have the Super Bowl hangover even during Valentines week . We still crave the BBQ we just had Sunday during the big game. It's rare to find descent BBQ in San Francisco. The good BBQ in San Francisco is usually Hawaiian, Korean, and some Memphis and Texan BBQ. There is one place which has not only has American Texas type of BBQ but its fusionend with Indonesian flavors. They say food is the way to a man's heart. This place is located in Thrive City on Warriors Way. This is the place to go to satisfy your man's hunger on Valentine's Day and make him more joyous because the place is located next to the heart of Golden Warriors Dynasty home in San Francisco Chase Center. The experience of eating steps away from Chase Center with waterfront view and eating great BBQ makes an amazing Valentine's Day's combination. I had to try the Rendang Plate with smoked brisket and it was flavorful, juicy, and spicy. I also had the Ayam Bakar plate with bbq chicken. It was delicious with great flavor and you have to get saucy with their tangy dipping sauce. This a must try barbecue spot with heart in San Francisco for some smoked Indo-Tex barbecue. If your in SF and crave some good "barbecue "and don't have a "clue "then go to Thrive City in San Francisco to "Fikscue" for the food "rescue" Once the Super Bowl ends it's the end of the NFL football "season"but you can still grab some BBQ from all different types and "region"some from Texas, Memphis, Carolina, and the even Hawaiian that's "Polynesian" but this place is a fusion of American Texas style and "Indonesian" read more

I wanted to try Fikscue at their original Alameda location but I didn't want to brave the long line there. I was stoked to learn that they opened another location by the Chase Center. I came here with a couple of friends on the weekend. There was no line and they had everything in stock! This could be a lowkey great solution for people who want to try Fikscue without the all morning commitment of waiting in line. There is a large outdoor seating area that is covered and has nice water front views. There is limited in door seating. Ordering is straightforward at the counter and the staff is nice. By far my favorite thing was the Rendang plate! The slow cooked brisket was super moist and flavorful. The kale curry was a nice compliment to the meat and it had a complimentary coconut milk flavor to balance the heaviness of the meat. At $23, it's a bit on the expensive side but the food is hearty and the quality is there. For BBQ, we got the smoked brisket and Dino rib. The meat met expectations but I wasn't blown away by it. Even though the meat wasn't dry, it also wasn't very moist. The dry rub had a nice peppery taste and it wasn't too salty. For the sides we got the Rujak slaw and Mac Goreng. Of the 2, the slaw was refreshing and it had a nice acidity to it. I think the Mac Goreng tasted a bit bland and I didn't think it was worth the price. Overall, I would come back for the Rendang plate because it was so dang good! In terms of the BBQ side of things, it was solid but not mind blowing. The sides were hit or miss. For 3 people this was more than enough food. I would come back to try some of the other plates like the Ayam plate or beef cheek. read more
I had never even heard of Fikscue until this past weekend when my cousin wanted to stop by, and I actually did not believe her explanation of how big the ribs are. Until I saw it with my own eyes The servers were super kind and took the time to explain each cut to us, so we ended up going with the famous dino rib and added the mac goreng on the side. & the dino rib was insane! Even though I haven't tried a ton of BBQ places, this was easily one of the most tender, juicy, and flavorful meats I've ever had. It literally falls right off the bone. My partner, who loves BBQ, said this is his favorite spot and he still can't stop thinking about it to this day. Highly recommend the mac goreng too! My friend and I got the Smoked Brisket and Dino Ribs. The Dino Ribs were juicy, fatty, and thick but the Smoked Brisket meat was dry and tough. I would have wanted more of the smokiness to come through especially after seeing the equipment that they had. For $72, I'm not sure if this was worth it but I would come back to try the other things. read more
This past Saturday, we had the chance to finally check out Fikscue and see what the hype was about. This location is fairly new and situated in the shopping area connected to the Chase Center. Seating is only outdoors so expect this place to only be dine-in when the weather is nice. One flaw for this location is the parking situation as there is no free parking for the shopping center at all even when there's no games/events going on. I can't really tell you much about the service, it was okay and nothing crazy. I don't expect them to really check up on tables when it's busy because most of them are behind the counter helping scoop up sides ordered but it wasn't busy at the time and it wasn't close to game time either. The food was honestly really good and most definitely some of the best bbq I've had in California. Price wise though it can get PRICEY fast, for example one soda can is 4$. (Everything picture in the photo was a total of 96$) I expected the ribs and brisket to be expensive but that was honestly more justifiable solely off the fact that everything was tender and delicious. The fried rice was also very good but the Mac goreng did feel pretty cold and kind of felt disappointed due to the fact that they had just opened. (Not sure maybe it's not supposed to be cold and supposed to be more like a Mac salad?) The sausage was one of the highlights of this place as it's so packed with flavor and just the right kind of spicy. If I ever come back it'll probably be to check out their Alameda location and see if the vibe is different but just experiencing the Chase Center commercial area makes me not want to come back. Wow, some of the best bbq I've had in a long time. We ordered brisket sandwiches, potato salad, and a sausage. The ribs looked amazing too. We were able to grab a table outside. The view overlooks the bay. They had a TV outside as well, we watched some of the World Cup. I would definitely recommend a visit. read more
I was sooo excited to find an Indonesian spot this close to my workplace, and it definitely lived up to the hype. I got the ayam bakar plate and my friend ordered the mac goreng and the brisket sandwich. Everything on my plate was super flavorful and honestly reminded me of home. I wasn't too big of a fan of the mac goreng but my friend loved his order. My only complaint is that the sambal wasn't spicy, but that's just my personal preference. Also, this Fikscue location has such a beautiful view of the bay and Bayfront Park, which makes it an even better place to grab a meal. I'll definitely be back! read more
I really wanted to love this place, and I'd been trying to get there despite limited hours for a few months. I finally managed to get there just as they opened so I could try the brisket and a rib. And both were good - but neither was great. You know how with good meat, you'll sometimes get that rush of flavor. It just didn't happen here. And at the price point, you'd want a little bit more than good. Service is great though, and the sauces on the side are incredible. But the meat is "just good;" maybe it was a bad day? read more
Ate here before the Warriors game. I always review their menu at home before deciding what to order in line. So we ordered family style for 5 people. The Smoked Brisket was tender paired nicely with the bbq and sweet sauce. The Ayam Bakar, Indonesian spiced chicken was baked with peanut butter and spices. The meat close to the bone was still red. Tried the nasi goreng Indonesian fried rice. It's been years since I tried this rice and it was full of diff flavors unlike the Chinese fried rice. The presentation was beautiful and it was devoured by all. Next time I'm trying the Dino bone all to myself plus the shrimp chips and the smoked ayam lumpia. No dining inside, only outside. Line moved quickly and despite the numerous patrons they still had all items. Food was fresh and delicious and staff went above and beyond to handle our family food allergy safely and professionally. I came here for a Mandarin happy hour event on the weekend and got the nasi goreng and cendol to enjoy while meeting new language exchange buddies. The nasi goreng had a very fusion taste with the addition of brisket. It was quite different from the nasi goreng I tried in Bali a few years ago but still quite tasty. I really liked the cendol dessert drink with the pandan jelly, which there was an ample amount of. This restaurant is located in a great area with a beautiful view of the bay, and the prices are pretty reasonable for the area. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Fikscue's new location at Chase is arguably even better than their Alameda location! No huge line during peak hours and I think the food tastes even better here! This time we ordered: - the beef rib: very fatty and tender, not too fatty this time - brisket: always a must - beef cheeks: sooo tender!! they didn't have this last time at the Alameda location and would highly recommend trying this. - potato salad: an ordinary potato salad - rujak slaw: if you like sweet peanut-y salad flavors, this is the side for you - nasi goreng: nothing beats some fried rice with your bbq Highly recommend checking out this location if this is more convenient for you. Rarely do I find that the second location of any store has the same quality, but I can confidently say that Fikscue is the exception! read more

Had dinner here on Tuesday before watching the Warriors game. We're so happy that it's open on game night, even though it's listed as Closed on Tuesday on the Yelp page. The line to order food seemed to be moving quite slowly. Could be because we're hungry and already quite late due to traffic, too. There was plenty of seating outside, and there're plastic tumblers for water next to the utensils. After reading other Yelpers' reviews, I really wanted to try the Rendang Plate, and I wasn't disappointed. The brisket was very flavorful. It's not dry nor chewy, but still not as soft as I would like. The kale curry was tasty, the fried egg was perfectly cooked with crispy edges and a running yolk. The sambal on top was awesome and not spicy. The garlic chips were just regular Indonesian shrimp chips, which I liked. The potato fritter could use some more flavor, but wasn't bad after adding some bbq sauce. Portion was very generous, and we were both very full after finishing our plates. Wished we had more time to enjoy the food slowly. Price was reasonable, especially when comparing to prices inside the stadium. Would love to come back and try other items on the menu next time we're in the area. read more
