Order at the counter and then take your food to a table. Most of the meats are priced by the pound. They charge a service charge of 15% for orders over $300, which our order was, but I also tipped at the check-out. I didn't see any prominent signage about the service charge so I double tipped. Two weeks later I went back during another Valkaries game and ordered more beef cheeks and a sausage. The sausage was consistently tasty, with the same snap and seasoning. The beef cheek was not overly salted and instead was perfectly seasoned while maintaining a delectable tenderness. My assessment is that Fikscue is average BBQ. I've been wanting to try the East Bay location forever, but was discouraged by the distance and the infamous line. So I've had my eye on this one. If you're not there for an event at the Chase center, it's maybe a little odd, but it's nice being right off of the water. The kale curry was a nice compliment to the meat and it had a complimentary coconut milk flavor to balance the heaviness of the meat. At $23, it's a bit on the expensive side but the food is hearty and the quality is there. For BBQ, we got the smoked brisket and Dino rib. The meat met expectations but I wasn't blown away by it. Even though the meat wasn't dry, it also wasn't very moist. The dry rub had a nice peppery taste and it wasn't too salty. For the sides we got the Rujak slaw and Mac Goreng. Of the 2, the slaw was refreshing and it had a nice acidity to it. I think the Mac Goreng tasted a bit bland and I didn't think it was worth the price. This past Saturday, we had the chance to finally check out Fikscue and see what the hype was about. This location is fairly new and situated in the shopping area connected to the Chase Center. Seating is only outdoors so expect this place to only be dine-in when the weather is nice. One flaw for this location is the parking situation as there is no free parking for the shopping center at all even when there's no games/events going on. I can't really tell you much about the service, it was okay and nothing crazy. I don't expect them to really check up on tables when it's busy because most of them are behind the counter helping scoop up sides ordered but it wasn't busy at the time and it wasn't close to game time either. The food was honestly really good and most definitely some of the best bbq I've had in California. Price wise though it can get PRICEY fast, for example one soda can is 4$. (Everything picture in the photo was a total of 96$) I expected the ribs and brisket to be expensive but that was honestly more justifiable solely off the fact that everything was tender and delicious. The fried rice was also very good but the Mac goreng did feel pretty cold and kind of felt disappointed due to the fact that they had just opened. (Not sure maybe it's not supposed to be cold and supposed to be more like a Mac salad?) The sausage was one of the highlights of this place as it's so packed with flavor and just the right kind of spicy. I was free on a Sunday so decided to come for lunch when there won't be a line since it's not basketball season yet. I really like bbq but the price here is way too expensive. They don't sell pork ribs which is what I normally order. They are halal or Muslim so don't eat pork which I learned from reading Zeitoun. $15 for only 1 piece of beef rib which is not the most expensive dino rib. Around $10 for 2 pieces of brisket. $8 for the Indonesian chicken which is spicy so I shouldn't have ordered it. The sides are at least $10. I don't get why the coleslaw is $10 which is more expensive than the chicken, same with potato salad, coconut rice, or fried rice! I understand they're located in Thrive City but the price is unreasonable. I spent $31 something without being able to try any of the sides. My friend mentioned this place has a location in Alameda that's known for their Indonesian bbq, so we checked it out before our show. He ordered a pound of their brisket while I got the rendang plate. We both thought the briskey was extremely tough, stringy, lacking flavor, and an overall fail. Again, the brisket in my rendang plate was pretty dry and definitely needed some type of sauce. Nothing else on the plate stood out--egg was rubbery, shrimp chips were soggy, the rice was cold--except for their curry kale which made the plate bearable. Hopefully, this was just an off day. For the quality, I would not say worth the price. read more

It is extremely rare a BBQ place will complete the Holy Trinity of Great to Good Brisket, Beef Back Ribs & Sausage. A sign of great BBQ is eating without BBQ Sauce. I ate half if not more of my Brisket and Ribs without BBQ sauce. The Jalapeño Cheese Sausage and Beef Cheeks were also solid and the Beef Cheeks were awesome and very Tender. I will try the Dino Rib next time, let's see how they compare to Terry Black's. The show stopper for me was Ayam Bakar Chicken. I am still pissed off at my Ball and Chain for eating one of them. Super excited that they open a second location in chase center. Order with counter staff and pay with cashier. Self service water and utensils. Plenty of outdoor seatings. Helpful and friendly staffs. The brisket was melt-in-your-mouth tender with a smoky, sweet glaze, and the ribs were fall-apart soft with just the right kick. The house sauce ties everything together--rich, bold, and slightly spicy. Macaroni salad added a refreshing, creamy contrast that balanced the smoky meats perfectly. What a hidden gem in the back corner of Chase Center! It has a great view with great heated patio seating. The view is also wonderful. The food was powerfully flavored and packed a punch! It was unique with its fusion of Tex BBQ and Indonesian cuisines! Indo-tex? That caught my attention; what is that? If we are here for a special event, we gotta try something special! This was it! Each part of the bento or set was good! Mmmm, I've never tried that before; that too! There was plenty of brisket to try. I didn't get to try the full pieces of BBQ meats, but now I know and will have to try it next time. It was prepared quickly too, so it was convenient as we were getting hungry already. The aromas also were strong and attracted us. Oh yeah, the music from next door was awesome!
