Yuzu Ponzu Poke Don

I've never dined in and I'm not sure why! I've ordered fighting fish for lunch so many times, but the restaurant itself has amazing vibes. The decor is eclectic, the drinks are unique, and the service is outstanding. Every single person at the table LOVED their food. Their sushi is fresh, generously portioned, and bursting with flavor. I'm definitely putting this in the dinner rotation!

Spicy sushi burritos

New to town but definitely one of the best happy hours I've experienced. Can't beat $5 basic rolls and apps with deals on drinks too!. Our server Jake was super nice and attentive. Pretty nice ambiance for a dinner/lunch with friends or even a date night at the bar. I was skeptical about the sushi burrito but it was pretty fresh. The fries were a miss for me but the spicy tuna with wonton nachos is a must get.

Monster Roll on the left and I can't remember the roll on the right but it has tuna and delicious!

Sushi is legit! The menu offers many specialty rolls and traditional rolls such as sashimi, nigiri. We started off with some fried tofu (not pictured) and followed up with two specialty rolls. For two people, this was plenty to fill us up. The Monster roll is pretty filling with its size, tuna, and a piece of tempura. The roll on the left (forgot the name), was a nice balance to the heavier Monster roll. I thoroughly enjoyed the specialty rolls! Service was great! We were running behind our reservation time and I called to let them know. We still got our table when we arrived! They told us about the happy hour and we got some drinks and an appetizer. Water was always refilled. Ambiance is low key. Great for catching up with friends and families. Bathrooms had cool, neon lighting like you're at the club. Would definitely come back (which I did)!

One of the best meals I have had in Richmond in a very long time. Service was awesome, great atmosphere...... damn good food! The fighting fish burritos were very filling..... it was a surprise to me since when the dropped it off I was thinking what else I could order..... no need it was plenty. The flavors exploded with every bite. Go and enjoy this gem while you can. We will be back.

Went here on a whim and it was kind of disappointing. There was no one at the hostess stand so we had to wait a while to be acknowledged. Once seated, our waitress took a while to come over. Place is cute and currently decorated for Christmas. Wasn't a fan of their water. Ordered a lemon drop and it took a while to arrive despite them not being busy. Lemon drop was pretty good. Food also took a while to come out. Shrimp tempura roll was tasty. The crab feast (?) was also tasty according to hubby. Ordered an app of the fries and they came out with the rolls, not the best but still good! Happy to have them or would still be hungry. Food is a 4 but slow service drops the experience to a 3.

Such a little gem. We stopped in for a snack. Delicious yummy Sushi. Wonderful bartender made us Gun and Tonics with an Hibiscus and Orange Peels called Kali. A local Gin. Just a wonderful experience all around

We've been here for both takeout and dining in. Most recently we ordered poke bowls and sushi- everyone was very pleased with the take out and the flavors were seriously amazing. Every time we go here or do takeout it's consistently yummy. I'd say if you're dining in, get a reservation for sure.

Tiger Tempura Roll and Sweet potato roll

So I ordered takeout from Fighting Fish and didn't get the full dine in kind of experience but everything else left a great impression. From the moment I hit the order button, the food was ready and waiting for me when I arrived. The inside vibe seemed really casual and chill from that brief moment I was in there it was calm. I went with the Tiger Tempura and the Sweet Potato Roll, and honestly, I wish I had doubled my order. Both were really good and fresh. I was curious about the sweet potato roll, that was new to me and was different than what im used to seeing on a menu but I was excited and I'm so glad I tried it. It was simple and just enough to stand out. If you're in the area and craving sushi, I recommend giving this place a shot. You really can't go wrong with fresh, well-made sushi. I'll be back to explore more of the menu for sure.

Shrimp tempura sushi burrito

I have been waiting MONTHS to come & try this sushi burrito! OMG.. No words. I originally saw it on TikTok & knew I had to come check it out at one point. Well this past weekend I did just that, & this burrito was out of this world! It is 100% worth the trip & price! The shrimp was fried perfectly & still hot inside of the burrito, the dipping sauces paired perfectly & the fries were a great addition as well! It was crowded when I went but could still tell that they were a little staffed. The 1 waiter & host still were very accommodating to everyone. I loved the atmosphere next time I plan to come back & try some drinks at the bar! If you're thinking about going don't think... JUST GO!!

Miso soup and ginger tossed salad

Monday 7/7/25 5pm Had a taste for some sushi stop by to fighting fish cause it was close to me at that moment. I stopped here one time before before whatever reason they weren't open so why not? Upon entering, it's not very appealing, but once you're inside the restaurant It's very nice. This is not a big restaurant but appears to be Family friendly, good for a date or just eating by yourself. There were about 6 to 8 people already in there. I was seated immediately, and my order was taken shortly thereafter. I ordered Tobiko roll, California roll and shrimp tempura roll. I also ordered a ginger salad and miso soup. This is the first time I order the tobiko roll and it came with different colored tobiko. I addressed that with the waiter he assured me that it was the same thing. I'm used to the orange Tobiko, but I decided to try it anyway. The different colors were very appealing to the eye. There was a slight fishy taste but Still good. I also ordered a California roll which was good and a shrimp tempura roll which was good. I did ask for some more eel sauce. Ginger salad- VERY good! I like that they had avocado and the salad and tomatoes. The salad was very very fresh. Miso soup - that miso soup was lacking something. It tasted very bland and I'm a big fan of miso soup. I didn't even drink it. This restaurant was a bit more expensive than what I'm used to paying for the same order by about $10 - $12. The service was good I would return.

Fighting Fish serves some of the best quality sushi in town -- and at prices that seriously can't be beat! Every piece l is fresh, beautifully made, and packed with flavor. You can really taste the difference in the quality of their ingredients. The staff is just as impressive -- super friendly, attentive, and always make you feel right at home. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, the service is consistently fast and welcoming. If you're a sushi lover looking for top-notch food without the high price tag, Fighting Fish is the spot. Delicious, affordable, and always a great experience!

Fighting Fish had good reviews so I decided to walk in on a Tuesday night. Got seated right away. They have a relatively big space. 4/5 They serve complimentary miso soup. Had roasted corn guacamole, salmon crab bake roll, rainbow roll, and California roll. Overall the food was alright, nothing out of ordinary. 3/5 Service was good. 4/5 Overall, the food didn't quite excite my palate. Would give this Americanized sushi spot 4/5

This restaurant has street parking available. Well decorated and seating is decent. They have lots of tables as well as bar seating. The staff were nice. The sushi was good and decently priced. The miso came after we got our sushi and was average. They had a lot of shellfish options (if you have allergies be aware).

They are reasonably-priced and the portions are perfect. I've had chicken poke bowl and the crab meat poke bowl, always with white sushi rice, jalapeños and mango toppings (other toppings vary sometimes depending on my mood). I also almost always get a boba with my poke bowl. One of my favorites is the taro milk tea. I've never actually sat down in the restaurant to eat; I always get takeaway. They have ample tables and chairs, though, should you choose to eat in. It's also always clean; I've never actually seen it be out of sorts in there. Overall, definitely recommend them. I love this location.

I ordered the Volcano Bowl and my daughter ordered a bowl with eel in it. First thing I noticed is that the serving size in my opinion is small for the price of 16$, but i convinced myself that if it the quality is good and it's delicious, then it would have been worth it. However, that was not the case. I was very disappointed with the fishy taste that I encountered. My daughter also mentioned that her's also had a fishy taste. She was not able to finish her bowl but I was able to finish mine, only because I felt like I paid a good amount for it and didn't want to waste it. I paid for that decision later on when I had to use the toilet multiple times due to diarrhea. My daughter also stated she had to use the bathroom multiple times during her class later that day due to diarrhea.

A shell of its former self…read more Food If I had written this review a year or two ago I would have said it was our favorite place to get Poke bowls. The food was fresh unique and delicious. It isn't an exaggeration to say our whole family LOVED it! We went back today to find that they no longer served poke bowls and only had boring Chinese food. We were hungry so we stayed anyway. The General Tao Chicken and fried rice was some of the worst I have ever had. Rice is flavorless. Chicken was too sweet and not good quality meat. The Beef with mixed vegetables was terrible. Only thing decent was the egg drop soup. Service Don't have any complaints. They are nice and helpful. Ambiance Nothing special has a few tables to sit at. Decor is boring. Place is clean enough. So I really hate to leave this review because it went from our favorite place to eat when we were in the area to a place I would never go back to. So sad like a little part of me has died.

They come with entree, fried or white rice, and an egg roll. The general tso chicken was good. Flavorful and not spicy at all, which is what I'm used to. There also was no broccoli. The fried rice was a bit dry. Even after I added soy sauce it seemed like day old, refrigerated rice. The sesame chicken was the exact same chicken with sesame seeds. Service was average and the inside was nice and clean. If I'm in the area I'd try again, but definitely not taking a special trip to visit again.
