I went to Fig Tree while in San Diego visiting friends and loved every second of it! The atmosphere is great. We asked to be sat at the new high top table in the back and it felt like we were in a tree house. The staff was great! Our server Mark was also an east coaster, so he was good in our book. Plus he made great recommendations that really made the meal. We split the coffee cake (which is life changing) and I ordered the breakfast burrito. As per Mark's recommendation, I had the potatoes stuffed inside and had hot sauce on the side. It was delicious! It is a really big portion, but just so good! My friends got the meatloaf hash and one of the omelettes. Everyone was happy with their choice. Lastly, I really appreciate that you can get a shot of flavoring for your coffee. I recommend the coconut almond. If I lived in San Diego, Fig Tree would be my spot! We went at 10 am and didn't have to wait, but when we left there was a crowd outside waiting to be seated. read more

I love this place! The atmosphere of this place is really positive and the location is really pretty. Although it gets a little packed during the weekend, it is totally worth the wait! The service is always great. The last server I had, Edessa, was so sweet and nice. I was having trouble picking a drink, and she made excellent suggestions. I ordered a Chai Latte and she made sure to ask me if the drink was good and if I wanted to change it I could. The drink was excellent! She also offered to reheat my drink due to the weather being a little cold and rainy. She also was attentive and super friendly the entire time. Nothing beats having a server who smiles and actively checks up on you. I usually get the Stuffed French Toast, the Grilled Cheese with a side of Tomato Soup or one of the Egg Benedict's. All of them are delicious! My friend had the Huevos Rancheros and really enjoyed it as well. Overall, this place is great! It has great service and delicious food! read more

Amazing breakfast. Beautiful restaurant with a great ambiance. Service is great. Everyone is very attentive and you are not wanting for anything. Breakfast sushi was amazing and the pancakes were a little on the small side-NOT! The manager Victoria is just the sweetest girl and while I'm writing this our server brought us a bottle of champagne from Victoria! Was informed they have another location at Point Loma. First time here today and absolute loved it! I had the Cinnamon Apple French toast and it was amazing, the fruit platter had a great selection and was super fresh. We also got an order of buttermilk pancakes that were huge! The wait wasn't long considering our party size of 7, although the place was packed and more people were arriving every minute. The dining area is so cute, it's like an enclosed porch, covered in vines and other plants. Coming from Las Vegas, this isn't something we see often and was really a great change of scenery! I have come here a few times and it was on the weekends I found this little gem and love the gluten free French toast! Especially the sweet berry one! But this time it was the worst service I think I've ever gotten. It's a Friday I understand but it literally took 20 minutes us to get our coffees and we have been here an hour overall still waiting for the check so overall not the best experience at all. I understand it was busy but I mean our food was cold our waitress completely ignored us and it was very frustrating. Last time I came here with my boyfriend and sat at the very back underneath the " silence is better than BS" sign and the service was out of this world and HOT :) just saying. I have been here a couple of other times in the past and can say nothing but positive things. Our server, Daniel, remembered us from one time he was our server in the past; impressive! The chai latte is so super yummy!!! My son and I each always get our own large because we will fight over it, lol. The eggwich is yummy and huge, be prepared to take home leftovers or share it. The wally burrito is a good size as well and very flavorful. And the man candy bacon is totally delish! We have ordered it each time we have been here cuz it is so good. Really great brunch place! The outside seating and patio surrounded by trees and vines really make this place have a cool earthy feel. Went here with a friend and we both loved our food. I had a steak burrito with potatoes and she had French toast. Both were really fresh and the toast had some extremely fresh and crunchy strawberries. Also had a blueberry mimosa which was really refreshing. You do have to find street parking but the place is also in walking distance of the beach nearby. Very hipster looking place but that's never a bad thing! Would definitely come again! read more

This restaurant is such a Catch-22 because the food is good, but the service is terrible. I mean, so so bad. You can come and sit down at lunch and not speak to a server or be given water for at least 15 minutes. My coworkers and I came to use a coupon for a buy one get on free entree that requires you to dine in and purchase 2 drinks. There were four of us with two coupons, and they were adamant that we could only use one coupon per table. Ridiculous customer service. So we ended up having to pay for drinks we normally wouldn't have, and had to take a longer lunch than we normally would have. Next time, I will call ahead and place an order to-go and bounce. Not worth sitting there, which is why I give this place three stars only. read more

Long wait on a random Sunday for brunch but so worth it! The good news is there is so much to do around Liberty station while you wait with kiddos. We had ours play in the grass and by the fountains until we got a text saying our table was ready . We were seated on the patio which was very lively. Chips and guac were fantastic and our hungry brood of kiddos gobbled these up. Our kids also enjoyed a quesadilla and grilled cheese as we started slow with a caffeine flight ( 3 drinks - latte, mocha and a Mexican mocha ) and a mimosa. Highly recommend both ! We don't do eggs , so ended up passing on all the Benedict and omelette options and there are so many including an egg substitute option that seemed so good. We finally decided on the portobello sandwich and the Border Bowl with Soyrizo and both did not disappoint. We also got the truffles fries on the side and regretted only having ordered one side for the family . Service was a tad slow but it was a beautiful day and we had no where else to be. Slightly pricey at approximately $15 for vegan dishes but worth it for the overall brunch experience at Liberty station. read more

Both are a good in size as well if you're looking to share and get another entree. I highly recommend the man candy. It's essentially bacon drizzled in brown sugar or something similarly sweet. It makes bacon that much more addicting! Lastly, the blueberry pancakes were amazing. Fresh giant blueberries. I've had the corned beef hash, which wasn't my favorite. It was lacking flavor. The stuffed mango French toast melts in your mouth. The fruit is super fresh! Again, great portion in case you want a sweet and savory dish to split. I am a local in the area and also work in the industry. We have been going to fig tree for years and absolutely love it. All of the staff is wonderful, we come to see Brooke when she is there! I also am glad to see some familiar faces have joined the team like Augie, which means we will be coming even more. I am writing this review because today, as one of the employees was leaving after his shift, he noticed that my friends are wouldn't start. We had just finished lunch at the restaurant and he was walking to his car, but noticed our car trouble. He ran to get his car and help us jump start hers, even though he mentioned he had to go to class soon. We are incredibly grateful and just wanted to let everyone know how sweet Conrad was for doing this for us! We will be back soon to return the good karma!! Thank you Conrad! Actually I would give this five stars for my first time here, but consistency is important. If everything is as good next time Ill upgrade to five. Plus I always drink decaf coffee and it really wasn't very good though a table mate had regular and it was better, so may just be the beans. We all ordered something different and everything was good. We were wishing table would rotate like a lazy Susan so we could taste each other's food easier:) meals we ordered: french toast sampler (total foodgasam), breakfast casserole, shrimp fritada, and I had the emerald green salad with a side of totally delicious arugala, garlic, truffle oil, parmesan breakfast potatoes. Beautiful garden outdoor seating, offers seating in the sun, or shade. I love sitting outside there and spending a nice morning brunch with my dog! They offer a full espresso bar as well, so I don't even have to make my daily run to starbucks. The food was phenom! Blueberry French Toast and house made sausage is definitely the way to go. Their variety of Benedicts are also delish! Staff is courteous and attentive. Prices are a steal. This place is definitely worth giving a try, again, and again! read more

I really wanted to give Fig Tree 4 stars...I really wanted to. The food is delicious, the setting is tranquil, and the Mexican coffee is amazing. I've only gotten two dishes thus far: the Monterrey scramble and just a traditional breakfast (eggs, pancakes, sausage). Both top notch. The reason I'm giving it three stars is because of the sometimes mediocre service and the long waits. Service and hospitality play a large role in my overall experience. In my opinion you can get delicious food anywhere..it's quality service that is a rare find. Both times I have gone I have had to wait at least a half hour for a table. I understand that the restaurant may be playing the hand they're dealt..but that doesn't mean I should have to wait an inordinate amount of time for a good meal. All-in-all, it is a good dining experience. I will go to Fig Tree again..and hopefully next time I won't have to wait so long! read more

This is one of my favorite places in PB to enjoy a relaxed, casual atmosphere, fresh locally grown and pepared food, and extremely friendly and attentive staff. I've eaten at Fig Tree numerous times, at different times of the day and different days of the week since they first opened three years ago and have never been disappointed. So, I'm surprised to read a few negative reviews here and only wish those patrons could have enjoyed it as much as my friends and husband and I have over the years. My husband and I ate there this morning. Since it was a little cool outside on their patio, we sat near a heater and thoroughly delighted in the plain and simple buttermilk pancakes (huge!) served with a wonderful orange-infused syrup. We also tried their new veggie sandwich (that doesn't show up on the on-line menu) for the second time. Had to have it again after enjoying it a couple of weeks ago--grilled asparagus, spinach, avacado and mozarella. First time it was served on fresh rye bread (yummy), this time it was served on their own, fresh rosemary focaccia bread (awesome!). Either way, I plan to order it again. Ample portions, and the price is right! We'll definitely go back--sooner than later. read more

My friends and I LOVE this place. It is our favorite weekend morning breakfast spot. As a self proclaimed Eggs Benedict fanatic, I highly recommend trying Figs Eggs Benny. While this is my go-to meal I have tried others. If you are looking for a sweet breakfast than indulge in the Bananas Foster. Man oh man is it good. But I repeat, very sweet. They have also just started serving alcohol which is great when you are craving a Saturday morning mimosa. Fresh squeezed OJ and wow is it delicious! The prices are very reasonable, which keeps us coming back for more! That and the service is very attentive. All the servers are very friendly and funny too! The back patio is absolutely adorable and you feel like you are in a secret garden with the fountains and vines that cover the walls. I've been here before and had some pretty good meals. But today, as I'm sitting at my table, an hour and a half after I got here, we still don't have food. We were told there was about a 20 minute wait for the 4 of us. As I'm writing this, we just got our food. To her credit, our waitress was friendly. But after watching 20-30 2- and 3-tops go by before us, we had just about had enough. Finally my Mom stepped in and asked if they could please squeeze us 4 in to a 3-top. They walked us back and noticed there were 2 empty tables of 2 next to each other. They said, "oh, I guess we can push these two together." I wonder how many times before that had happened. And the hostesses did not even apologize for the wait. Anyhow, after all that, the food was ok. But not worth an hour and a half wait. Don't think we'll be back. read more

Taking a family trip out to the beach on a Sunday, we decided to grab some breakfast here beforehand. First, parking is in demand here bc the cafe is in the middle of a neighborhood with limited private parking which means it overflows into the street. We had to make several loops before finding a spot so just be prepared for that. This is a well known cafe with strong reviews so it's no surprise that you may have to wait a few before getting a table. Not a big deal just a heads up. I really like the decor both inside and out, very chill and relaxing. No issues showing up in board shorts, slippers, and a t-shirt. Not going to comment on the menu much but it's just a bit off the beaten path in a good way. They have some original items and everything that we could see heading out to the tables looked great with generous portions. The one thing that caused our experience to be 3 stars was the wait time on the food. We did have two active kids in tow which is always challenging but it was more than that. Where were tables sat after us, not 30 seconds after but like 15 minutes after who received their food before we did. Our order was simple, two omelets and some pancakes but for some reason it took nearly an hour to get our food. And when it finally did come everything was luke warm and the toast was a bit stale. Not sure if we just had a random, less than normal experience but It definitely could have been better. On the bright side my wife really enjoyed the spicy "Man Candy Mary." It's a Bloody Mary with candied bacon as a garnishment and a generous pour of vodka as well. So...all in all, not a great experience but not my worst. I would give this cafe a second chance but may try the Hawaiian joint next to it first. read more
