My husband and I stumbled across Spitz after parking in PB to see where the wind took us. And after arriving at this place I honestly had pretty low expectations at first since it was pretty empty, but I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered from the happy hour menu and shared a few things. I got the Quinoa Salad, while my husband ordered the Chicken & Lamb Gyro along with the Doquito. Everything was delicious. The Quinoa Salad was exactly what I wanted for a Sunday brunch: light, fresh, and not heavy on the stomach. I also appreciated getting a good serving of veggies in for the day. Then I tried some of my husband's gyro, and it was SO good. He ended up sharing some of the chicken and lamb with me, and adding it to my salad absolutely elevated the whole thing. Our server was friendly and accommodating, and the mural and overall decor gave off great vibes. We sat outside, and it was funny to watch the place gradually fill up. By the middle of our meal, the inside seating area was buzzing and the open layout felt lively and energetic. Overall, this was a great accidental find and a solid stop for a Sunday meal. This place did not disappoint! So many different mediterranean inspired wrap, gyro, and bowls. They have a whole portion of their menu dedicated to their vegan options. They have a great amount of seating with a vibrant atmosphere. I'll definitely be coming back to try the lunch special, but even on a weekend prices were reasonable for how much food you get. Guys! This place is so yummy! I was coming back from the Padres game and didn't really want to go sit at a restaurant so I stopped here to grab some food to go to take back to my hotel. I wanted something, healhy-ish, did I get that? I don't know, it's mediterranean food and that alone makes it tenfold healthier than other places. They list the calories on their menu, which you'll either love or hate but I appreciated it. So I took a seat at their bar to place a to go order and the girl behind the bar was just awesome, the one from Nashville who recently moved to San Diego, hey girl! She totally hooked me up with explaining their entire menu to me and gave me recommendations. I got the Medi bowl with chicken, quinoa, pickled red onions, feta, tzatziki, tomatoes, cucumbers, garbanzo beans, which appeared to be fried when I got them, maybe or roasted, not sure. It came with some pita on the side, it was perfect, delicious, fresh, flavorful, hit the spot. It was ready very quickly, super satisfied, big portion. I was craving Greek food after my Seaworld trip and found this place on Yelp. There's paid street parking in front. We did a pick up order and it was ready when we arrived. They were jamming some cool hop vibes and this place seems super chill to hang out. I got the Doner basket mixed meat, extra protein for $2, and mixed fries, my bf got the 12 piece wings. The server was super friendly. The food was fantastic and worthy of the phenomenal rating. I loved all the sauces. My plate was loaded with food. Final decided to try Spitz in pb and I was honestly surprised. My friends and I ordered a wrap and a salad, and both were pretty good. The portions were much bigger than we expected so we didn't finish and had leftovers. They have an indoor and outdoor area and you go up to order food and they'll bring it out to u with a number. We were so happy that we came to Spitz on a weekday between 3PM-6PM because they have an incredible happy hour! My husband and I got $9 gyros and $3.50 pita strips and humus! I saw a sign about Tuesday specials and those are really great too. Service was super fast! The seating was nice where you can sit at high top chairs, a booth, or a standard table with wooden chairs while getting fresh air for the open garage door. There is cool eclectic decor with neon lights and vibrant art on the walls. We really loved the gyros! The pita bread is so good. The hummus with the pita strips was good too. I was in the area and needed some lunch, and saw this pop up on Google Maps. It was a Tuesday and around 3:30p, right before Christmas Eve. The place was empty; the cashier was super friendly! There's a Happy Hour special on weekdays starting at 3 through 6. So my partner and I got the OG Gyro, Spitz Gyro and the fried pita strips, for a total of ~$30, including tip. They've self-serve water, I appreciate not having to wait for water service, in case they're busy. The music is lovely, there's no vocals so it feels more vibey and lo-fi. No need to talk over the music. Okay but the food: do not skip the fried pita strips. They're so good, the texture reminds me of beignets, fluffy and a tad crispy! The seasoning is delicious, I wish there were more after I finished them. The OG Gyro is exactly what you'd expect: fresh lettuce, tomato, feta, very fresh and healthy with beef and lamb. The Spitz Gyro is more savory and saucy, I thought of it as tomato-y with fries and beef and lamb. read more

Spitz is the replacement eatery for an uber popular brunch spot in the heart of the PB neighborhood. This LA-founded chain serves Mediterranean street food as opposed to a breakfast-focused menu like its predecessor. The decor was changed with a bright splash of pink color to the awning and interior. The seating arrangement remained intact with a long high-top table in the middle of the dining area and then several smaller tables along the sides of the room. The covered front sidewalk patio was also retained. Döner wraps, gyros, bowls and salads were the main food categories. Adding a side and drink to make it a combo cost an extra $7. I picked a Remix Bowl with chicken as the protein and rice as the base from the list of four bowls/salads for my to-go order. The other ingredients were dill-tahini quinoa, tomato, cucumber, roasted corn, feta, harissa, kalamata olives, crispy and marinated garbanzo, cabbage slaw, and lemon herbed tahini dressing. The portion size and quality of the ingredients were good. A cup of hot sauce was also provided which I didn't use as the dressing added sufficient flavor. Garnet Ave is now saturated with so many Mediterranean/Middle Eastern spots that it has become difficult to stand out from the crowd. If you prefer gluten-free/vegan/vegetarian fare, then Spitz does have a section of the menu dedicated towards those types of items. For the price and quality of my bowl, I gave a rating between three and four stars. read more

We just used Spitz for catering for a day after wedding event and the food was great and at a reasonable price. They are very accommodative of allergies and the wraps were all a hit. Also got the pita strips and hummus and that was also great. They provide tongs and some utensils which is super helpful. Would definitely recommend for catering. read more

My Son and I visited Spitz 3 weeks ago . Got seated near their open big window, plenty of tables to sit on. My Son and I had our Combo meal ( side + drink ) he got the SIDE STREET CART WRAP with a side of SWEET POTATO FRIES and LEMONADE and I had the FULL-SIZE ZA'ATAR CRISPY WINGS Both were delicious. This restaurant takes its name from the word "spitz" (German = spitze), which is the German term for the vertical roasting method used for Mediterranean döner kebabs. I was impressed with the aroma and flavor of the dishes, which are considered a healthy version of European street food. The Döner Salad was absolutely amazing! It was fresh, tasty, and came with seasoned fried pita strips. The balsamic dressing and freshness of the ingredients made for a great salad. The French Fries were unique in that they were seasoned with garlic, parmesan, & herbs and came with a delicious garlic aioli. They were soft with just the right amount of crisp. The Gyro was a little off, however. As a Greek food enthusiast, this German version of a Gyro was not exactly my style. Rather than strips of lamb meat, the Gyro contained ground lamb meat, similar to ground beef that you would cook in a skillet. Therefore, the Gyro had far more toppings than it did meat... Also, the regular Tzatziki sauce was lacking flavor compared to the Ranch Tzatziki. Maybe they could mix the two 50:50 v/v to come up with a savory unique sauce for their Gyros. I came here on Saturday around 2 PM. My friend lucked out with parking right in front of the restaurant, and I was able to find street parking just a couple blocks away, which wasn't bad at all. My server was beyond friendly and gave great recommendations. He was super attentive making sure I had napkins, silverware, water refills, and checking in to see how everything tasted. Very personable and easygoing. I ordered the OG Gyro with chicken, and it came out in under five minutes. It was absolutely delicious. A little messy, but very fresh and hit the spot. You can also add a side and a drink for only seven dollars more, which is a great deal. Overall, the pricing is solid, the portions are generous, and the food quality is excellent.
