Heard the wings were great, went in at 6pm on a Friday and they told me they had no wings available but they were preparing them for later. So basically, they just wouldn't prepare them for me. The guy working was pretty rude and wouldn't explain the menu to my wife. Then he upsold us on the sodas with the combo and I paid and left a tip. He then directed us to the fridge with soda cans. I told him i wanted the fountain sodas which are right next to the cashier, then he said while laughing "oh no that hasn't worked in months." So instead of having a nice fountain drink with refills i was only allowed one small soda can from the fridge. This is how these people function in their business. Basically got conned into an upsell on a combo, like false advertising haha. We felt like a nuisance to them, like we weren't welcome. Some lady who worked there just stared at us the whole time with a dirty look. The food sucked, the people are trash. This business is trash, RESPECT YOUR CUSTOMERS, we just wanted to try a new spot! Tried Mr. Shawarma in San Diego and it was honestly a great quick meal. The bowls are the best thing here. Good portion, tastes fresh, and you can customize it a lot with toppings and sauces. The host was really helpful and patient, answered questions and made the ordering easy. Also tried the baklava and it was a nice ending, sweet and loaded with pistachio. The very customer-service-oriented Reem helped me decide on several trays of neatly sliced wraps--Lemon Cilantro Beef Shawarma, Chicken Shawarma, and Falafel--and thoughtfully kept the feta cheese for the House Salad on the side (along with an assortment of garnishes and sauces) so my vegan guests would be just as happy as my non-vegan ones. Unfortunately, the experience my husband and I had here was awful. We came for lunch on a Saturday around 12:30. They open at 11am, yet it was obvious they were not ready for customers. There was a woman mopping in the back, I thought no big deal, but she proceeded to mop the entire restaurant with Fabuloso and it smelled terrible! We tried to eat outside and she came out there to mop. Then my food , I ordered a bowl with lettuce , the lettuce was soggy and every bite of meat I ate was full of fat , I'm not exaggerating my food went into the trash. We were looking for a dinner spot that was open late and came across Mr Shawarma on Yelp. This place did not disappoint. The guy manning the kitchen recommended the double trouble shawarma which has the beef & lamb and chicken. He did not lead us astray. It was super delicious! The meat was super juicy! The wrap was an explosion of flavors! My tummy was happy. They have an outdoor patio out front where you can people watch while you enjoy your food which is a fun experience of in PB. I unfortunately do not have anything good to say about my experience trying Mr. Shawarma. The fries were so bland, soggy, and had no seasoning. The pita bread was flat, dry, and bland. The beef on the shawarma fries was so fatty it was hard to eat through and the chicken on the other half was bland and had barely any flavor. The hummus was the "best"? thing I guess you could say it was the least disappointing but still was not good. My husband and I ultimately could not eat the food from here. It was really horrible and I don't get how this place is rated so highly. We were excited to try Mr Shawarma and now we feel as though we wasted our money. We will never come back. The food was not appetizing at all and was really gross. If you are debating on coming here, I would advise against it. My wife and I came in around lunchtime on a Friday, and the experience was disappointing from the start. I wasn't acknowledged at all by the front desk when we walked in. The service issues continued when our entrees came out a full 10 minutes apart, meaning we couldn't eat our meal together. For a total of $40 for two meals, the quality just wasn't there. The beef kebab I ordered was grisly and incredibly chewy, and the side salad was completely drenched in vinaigrette. Pacific Beach and San Diego have a reputation for being overpriced and mediocre, and unfortunately, this spot fit right into that stereotype. It also had a lot of fat. - The babaganoush was decent, generous portion but slightly under seasoned - Falafals were excellent!! Very flavorful, nice and crispy texture -- absolutely recommend Overall, our experience was a solid 3.0/5. In regards to the shawarma, it was just alright for me. The meat was decently tender but lacked flavor. It was definitely missing some herb flavor and was under-seasoned. My food also felt under-salted. I can say the same about the fries; the seasoned fries contained little to no seasoning. They tasted like plain steak fries, and only a few had any of the red powdered seasoning. The tahini sauce was creamy and garlicky, which was very good.
