Chicken Gyro combo plate and a beef sambusa for $40
    Anthony J.

I came here for lunch at the Solana Beach Fiesta Del Sol. All I ordered was a combo plate and 1 sambusa for a total of $40 . The samosa tasted really good but the chicken and rice was very dry. There were other vendors that were also probably overcharging as well but $40 for ok food seems ridiculous. Also the prices aren't posted on the menu which seemed strange, the lady running the cashier only told me my total as I handed over my card.

    Rice, hummus, salad, etc.

We had a fabulous office lunch for 40 people catered in today by Zaid/Dave. Kabobs, rice, salad, humus, pita, lots of veggies, etc. with only 48 hour notice! He goes above and beyond our expectations! Excellent service and quality of food. Great communication and always on time which is extremely important for business luncheons. I will continue to use and highly recommend!

I ran into the Turkish Grill at the new Mission Valley Farmers Market on Saturday. I had a large chicken filled Turkish Samosa for $6.99. The samosa was good. However, I did feel that it was over breaded or thicker than it needed to be. The chicken inside was tasty and they put a good amount inside the samosa. I liked the Turkish seasonings they used. The sauces they drizzled onto the samosa were very tasty. I would of rather had them on the side, but I was unaware that they were going to drizzle it on top. Customer service was very friendly ad up beat. In addition the the Mission Valley Farmer's Market, you can also find them at the Hillcrest Farmer's Market on Sundays, Oceanside on Thursdays, and Little Italy on Wednesdays.

The smells draw you in, and you're immediately greeted by the chefs. I go all out and order the jumbo "ultimate gourmet". They work at a great pace to feed hungry customers but take their time enough to ensure their level of quality is met. Great group of guys. Spreading the cream cheese on both sides of the bun evenly, slicing the dog down the middle in order to cook and create a nice crisp sear to the dog. Professionals!... I didn't pay attention to the rest of the assembly, but next thing I know, I'm staring at a delicious hotdog. Pictures don't do justice. The pineapple habanero sauce added the perfect amount of sweetness and barely any spice to the top. I need to go back for more. I would walk blocks from the beach for these.

Walk along the Embarcadero & get a freeze on a hot day, stop by Chilanga's (the best booth there) & get my huitlacoche on. Live music, shade, delicious vendors, right across from the water. I did have a little detour from Chilanga's - while I was waiting for my spouse to park, I sat at a shady table with a woman who was telling me about the poke truck (Island Mike's) & explaining that her coworker ran it as a side hustle, and that the poke was delicious because he had lived in Hawaii. I agonized a bit - get my Chilanga's huitlacoche huarache - or try the poke? I eventually decided: it's Mother's Day, you can have ALL the things, just like at a buffet! So I went to Island Mike's first. They advertised Broke Da Mouth poke - and I was a little suspicious at first - cuz Island Mike's didn't look like a Hawaii native but a mainlander who spent some time there. BUT... I got my poke "island style" (furikake, sushi rice, and the poke - not lots of distractions like seaweed salad or ginger like in the "mainland style") - and it really was off the hook. Really fresh & delicious and perfectly made. YUM & YUM. $12 for one scoop (the smaller size) & very worth it. Of course I still needed my Chilanga's so then I got the huitlacoche huarache (a vegetarian taste of heaven - shredded lettuce, huitlacoche, Mexican cheese on a huarache (masa dough) & tried the mango passion fruit agua fresca. The huarache is huge and I'd already had the little poke, so I took most of it home to eat later. But it was just as yummy as I remembered. And the agua fresca is amazing. I'll still crave Chilanga's but now I'll crave Island Mike's too. I need to get down here more often because it is a super fun outing that is too good to waste on tourists!
