Chicken Shawarma Pita

I love this little spot in Ocean Beach! They've got a great little bar that overlooks Newport Avenue and you can watch all the folks walking by. Sometimes that can be quite a show lol. Both times I've been here I've gotten the chicken Shawarma wrap with the lemon garlic dressing. It is absolutely divine in every way. My fiancé got the beef Shawarma wrap tonight and although he said it was good, he did say that the beef was a bit too chewy. The gentleman that works there is really nice and the food comes out super fast, hot and fresh. You can see them making it right in the back of the open kitchen.

Thank you fellow helpers for helping me find this place! I needed a change from my usual fish tacos and while sitting on the beach, I was searching for restaurants walking distance from ocean beach. The reviews don't lie! Fresh gyros and kabab plates. Loved the food, friendly service and they do give a discount if you pay with cash. The plates are huge, I couldn't finish it. Gyro was delicious! I will be back next time I'm in ocean beach.

TL;DR: Top service with good food! Great option for a quick bite of Mediterranean eats Ordered: - Chicken Shawarma wrap (2/5): rather dry and not the most flavorful. Mostly filled with lettuce so that might be why we could barely taste the chicken... - Beef Shawarma plate (4/5): much better than the chicken. Better balance in flavor and can really taste the char - Fries (5/5): so good, hot and fresh - Beef egg roll (5/5): we didn't order this but the server saw us eyeing the other table's order and he brought out an extra serving for us on the house! We will definitely be ordering this next time The food was good and the vibe was relaxed but the real star was the service staff! They made us feel right at home and even gave us extras. Cheers, Shawarma House!

I initially came here for a yelp event and I've been hooked ever since. Parking may be scarce, but you can park at the end of the street and take a stroll down. The restaurant itself looks like it's a mom and Pop family ran business. The portions were pretty big. The young man that took our order was very attentive. He actually came out a couple times to the table and checked up on us. Everything was just so flavorful! They wasn't greedy with the sauce or the seasoning. Definitely a must try if you are in the area!

I came back here after I tried them for a Yelp event a few weeks ago. What brought me back was the warm hospitality of the staff and the delicious food and generous portions! This place fits in with the OB vibe with its open dining area and a sign outside illustrating all of their popular dishes. I got to try the chicken and beef egg rolls and these were amazingly good! I would definitely order this again. Meat was flavorful and the egg rolls were crispy. I ordered the Gyro plate which is a great entree to share since you get quite a bit of food. We actually didn't even finish and had to bring the rest home! You get plenty of rice, meat, and salad. To finish off we had some baklava, which to be honest had a lot of filling! Usually baklava has barely any filling but this was was filling with just one piece! I'll definitely check them out again when I'm in the area.

I was in downtown San Diego for business, I looked up Greek food in my area, this place was 20 minutes out of the way, but had by far the best ratings and reviews. When I stopped in, I immediately loved the vibe. They are extremely friendly and helpful, I got the beef Shawarma plate, which I give 9.8/10, for the price you get a generous helping a protein, with delicious rice. Not overcooked. With the plate comes hummus with pita. For this restaurant being open for less than a year, I suspect they will get well over 1000 reviews and maintain their 4.8 stars, due to the great service they provide, quality ingredients and prime location they are in they are a must see when in Ocean Beach. This is my new go to if my clients want something healthy to eat. Thank you for a great experience! Thanks for talking Security with me

Is there enough room to leave a 10 star review?!?! I feel like 5 stars isn't enough. To start... the owners are such INCREDIBLE, kind, personable, and passionate humans. And they sure know how to throw down in the kitchen!! I tend to be quite critical when it comes to Middle Eastern restaurants - especially growing up eating the BEST Middle Eastern food - and I've gotta be honest.. Shawarma house hits pretty close to home!! From the warm Mid-Eastern hospitality, to the fresh shawarma shaved off the roasting pit, and the spacious dining room, this has quickly become one of my favorite go-to spots in San Diego. THAT'S A BIG DEAL Y'ALL. Lemme tell ya about the goodies! For starters, let's talk about the beef shawarma wrapped in a pita. Folks... THIS is how it's done. A great ratio of deliciously marinated beef shawarma to crunchy veggies and tahini sauce all wrapped up in a thin pita. I smiled as I took every bite, giving gratitude to the food of my homeland. The tabbouleh and shirazi salad were also delicious!! I've gotta highlight the tabbouleh and, again, say that THIS is the way to make tabbouleh; parsley forward, refreshing, and the perfect amount of lemony citrus. I was also generously gifted a side of the egg rolls which were SO DELICIOUS!!! There's nothing like a bite of golden fried delicious stuffed with beef and chicken shawarma, dipped in their beautifully balanced hot sauce. All of that to say... YES. Do it. Please go here to enjoy the food, ambience, and to support this incredible business!!

Shawarma House is a family-run restaurant serving up delicious food in OB (tucked away near the Target). They have some seating available, but this also makes for the perfect kind of food to take out (that can last for more than one meal). I ordered the creamy chicken chop plate and a falafel pita. The portions were huge! The plate came with a hearty serving of rice, salad and hummus. I loved the tender, breaded chicken served with a tasty cream sauce on top. It was full of flavor and easily lasted a second meal. The falafel pita was also ridiculously good. I love that the falafel remained very crisp in the wrap. Everything tasted fresh and was very well made. I also appreciated that the restaurant felt very clean. The woman taking our order was so sweet and we hope that they do well here!

I'm angry how good this place is!!! I was blown away how good the food was. The beef swarma pita was crazy good juicy tender and full of flavor. The egg rolls here were next level!!! I been craving this place for a while now but I live to far to come out here. The service was fast and Mais was so sweet and kind. The ambiance is chill nothing to fancy, you could totally eat at the beach but decided to eat there so the food was still fresh. I recommend trying this place if you're in the OB area!!!

Came here on a hot sunny day. Parking can be tricky but street parking is always available. The inside is small with a few tables. It does get stuffy inside. Food was pretty good. They give gigantic portions and the service was very friendly. Would recommend!

Louis L.

Great customer service! The place is a family owned business and you can tell the food quality and service has a personal touch with fast service! I didn't crave shawarma before but now I am a fan! And can't wait to visit again! The place is also clean and plenty of seating. Location is right next to the Target! If you dont get lucky with the parking on the street, park at Target really quick and pick up the food!

Still my go to place when I'm craving something sweet and special. Their cakes may be pricey, but…read morein my opinion, for the amount of work, effort, and quality of ingredients, I think they continue to be fair. For example, some other specialty bakeries/shops are charging similar prices for cakes and cheesecakes that are much simpler. In comparison, Extraordinary Dessert cakes take 3-4 days to make, have 6-8 alternating layers, and are typically adorned with edible gold and/or flowers. The key is to find which items you like and which are okay to pass on next time. What we ried this time: -Match Misu Cake (7/10): ricotta cake layers soaked in matcha and layered with marscapone whipped cream. This one was pretty good and ranks in my middle to high range. I only wish there was more matcha flavor (maybe if you dine in and get the sauce, this would help) or the matcha was paired with another flavor ... either go fruity (maybe a raspberry sauce, strawberry pieces, white peach pieces, or like a peach oolong cream layer) or go chocolately/coffee (maybe had some crushed up chocolate covered espresso beans). My go to's: -Ivoire Royale (10/10) - my ultimate favorite still. If you like light desserts, white chocolate, berries, and moist vanilla cake, thus one is for you. Classy and unpretentious -Shangrila (10/10) - my other favorite and will make you feel like a princess with all the pink chocolate curls. A little bit adventurous and innocently elegant. Ones to skip: -Au Chocolate / La Bete Noire / Dame Chocolate - get the Viking instead. That's my favorite of all their chocolate cakes -Lemon ricotta - get the Passionfruit Ricotta instead -Torta misu - the matcha misu is better. The tortilla misuse made me want a regular piece of tirmaisu than a cake version -Coconut cream - not bad, not amazing though

Also just so everyone is aware they're also liars just to mention & stupid.. she tells us her name is Karen thinking we don't know the owners name lol .. She was at the register at 7:20pm and was extremely rude and dismissive after we placed our order, especially regarding a child's dietary restrictions and health concerns. We politely asked if it would be possible to purchase a small cup of fruit , even just a couple strawberries cut up, because one child in our group cannot have sweets due to very strict dietary restrictions . Instead of simply saying they were unable to accommodate the request or offering another option, we were told to "go somewhere else," despite already spending the amount we did . The complete lack of professionalism and basic customer service was honestly shocking. It's disappointing to be treated that way at a place we have supported so consistently. This place has been going downhill , management for this place needs to step up .

One would think that, in such dark times, one could still find even a glimpse of hope in an ice cream cone. I was proven wrong, and my outlook on the current state of affairs only dimmed further. I ate my ice cream in two bites. Twenty dollars for two cones, four bites total. I didn't even bother feeding my son the pup cup. He deserves better. The world deserves better. Bigger portions. Waitress barely came to the table, we had to get up and ask her for things. I actually told the owner this time--the guy who sits outside near the entrance. Let's see if he does anything. Also, we had more than six people, and they included the tip in the bill, but they don't tell you that verbally and just hand you the machine to pay and it just shows the total and then asks you to fill in the tip amount.. So I asked to look at the bill and there's a charge near the bottom that says "charges and fees", I asked if that was the tip and she said yes. So this is one of those places that gets a lot of people to pay double the tip amount by not telling them it's included. Slimy if you ask me.
