Went to Fete Bistro for a birthday dinner celebration. Seated at a table next to the window. Ambiance- pleasant, although the music was very loud and I couldn't hear my dinner conversation. Appetizers - dip trio with pita And the baguette. Good but expensive. Steak sandwich- I asked for steak to be prepared medium and the steak was presented overcooked, then there was melted havarti cheese on top of the steak! My family enjoyed the steak frites and their steaks were prepared perfectly. The best was the fries. Steak brochette - the birthday boy enjoyed it, can't complain. I need to return and order different entrees.

As always. Good service, good vibe and good food!! I always enjoy visiting the spot and chatting with the bartenders when it's not busy.

*****The best pancake I've ever had in my entire life!!! There, I said it. Fete is a quaint, wonderful bistro off Manhattan Beach in the very heart of downtown. The staff were wonderful, attentive and sincere. And the food was absolutely spectacular. The place runs like a Swiss watch, as though effortless; a sign of very attentive management and/or owner. I highly recommend this restaurant, especially for its' brunch offerings. (I apologize profusely for neglecting to take a picture of the pancake whose decadence will now only visit me in my dreams once I depart California). Until next time......Ciao Bella.

Love the ambiance and decor. Kirt our waiter was super nice, attentive and very informative. Irene our Mixologists made one of the best manhattans I've had in a long time. Service, food and cocktails/wine were superb. Love the new Slay concept. We will definitely be back!

The fish & lamb we ordered were so scrumptious. We just stumbled on this restaurant because there was no seating at their sister restaurant next door. The owner came by to say hello, which is always a welcoming feeling when that happens because it feels more personable. The restaurant was decorated so cute for the holidays & felt so cozy inside. The server was very friendly and they seated us right away, which was nice.

Went to "fete bistro" for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered the mussels and fries. Was delicious! Waiter Justin was very friendly and very attentive to the tables he was in charge off. Highly recommended

Tonight's meal was a French inspired restaurant located in manhattan beach. Tucked to the side of the restaurant is a black curtain is a "speak easy" which I have experienced with some friends a month prior to tonight's meal, fun hang out, good drinks, interesting crowd. The dinner - nice. The desserts & cocktails - fantastic. Service - good. Environment/ decor - pleasant The music - loud and on the verge of obnoxious. (Before you make judgment, I'm in my 40's and really enjoy a good music level that fits the environment, but also wanted to have a pleasant dinner conversation and not just sit there and eat. I understand there is a fine line in what is the right volume, my advice. Read the room...) Our party was literally the only people in the dining room and we politely asked to turn down the music just a little bit so that we could have a conversation around the table. They were really nice and lowered the volume, which made the meal very pleasant. Unfortunately someone kept turn it up which just ruined the experience, after having to ask again we just gave up and finished our meal and left. Sad. The French inspired dishes were well made, cooked and plated very well... everything tasted fine. Less impressed with the deviled eggs, bread was d'lish, pate was good (from what I was told, I did not indulge) scallops were very nice (that's what I had) the server kept pushing for us to add an additional scallop, two of us who ordered the dish politely declined but there was definitely a harder push for us to say yes... again- no thank you. The other two patrons enjoyed the duck, they said it was cooked very well and was tasty. Last patron had the croquet madame and said it was fine. By far my favorite course was the desserts and if that is all I ate that night would have been the best part of the experience. There were three option's, a crème brûlée, apple and blueberry tart and the last dish I won't even embarrass myself and try to type it out, was d'lish!!! We ordered one of each! Yes, do it! All in all a nice evening among family and friends, probably not an establishment I would make a return visit but happy to have tried this restaurant at least once. I have experienced other Slay Properties and have alway been delighted by the service and meals. I would definitely frequent them over tonights choice. Are you looking to try something new? I say give it a try, you'll have an enjoyable meal - as long as the music isn't like walking into a vegas casino bar.

TRY THIS RESTAURANT!!!! This is my favorite of all the SLAY restaurants in Manhattan Beach/Hermosa. The menu is French, but innovative and incorporates Mediterranean style flavors, which really complement one another. The chevre cheese was amazing (just asked for more crostini the minute they put it down).. The duck à l'orange is also incredible. Tonight I had the special which was a "Blue Nose" (whatever that is) fish- and it was so tasty that I didn't even ask for extra sauce-which is usually my go-to. I really love that the mashed potatoes were wrapped in thinly sliced pieces of squash. Very complementary, especially since I don't like potatoes. The crème brûlée was a great finish. YUMMY.

The service and ambiance were good, but the escargot lacked flavor and the duck was overwhelmed by an overly orangey sauce.

This spot checked all my Tiki-bar boxes: moody lighting, fun kitschy décor, and seriously great drinks. I started with a Mai Tai--perfectly strong but still super tasty--then switched to a glass of Chardonnay so I wouldn't be completely blitzed for the movie. We still had time to spare, so I finished with a virgin Piña Colada and oh my gosh, it was delicious. Loved the jukebox and pool tables, too. Huge thanks to Lindsay for the excellent service. No mint on top, zero lime flavor, but a cherry on an umbrella. I literally took one sip and pushed the glass back to the edge of the bar. Not one bartender or bar back came to check on my party after sitting our drinks down. After about twenty minutes of being ignored someone came and grabbed my husbands empty glass but left my completely full glass sitting on the bar mat. Another ten minutes or so of still not being checked on and we finally decided to leave. I'm out the twelve bucks for my drink but I consider it a twelve dollar lesson in not coming back here again. Sadly, the only reason we chose to get drinks at this bar was because I insisted I wanted a drink before heading home.

The flat bread was also tasty, although cut a little interesting in a diagonal shape. The flora fries were huge, perfectly cooked and with a lot of garlic! It was really good. I ordered the ahi tuna poke with the rice and ir was perfect. The crispy rice wasn't rock hard like other places, so you don't feel like you chipped a tooth. It was a little soft and chewy. For drinks, I got the Fall Spritz, and sorry I can't believe I didn't take a picture of it but it was delish! The service was good, we went before 8pm Social Hour so it wasn't as busy and the servers were attentive. There were only 2 for the entire roof top. It did get a lot busier at 8pm. This place is super cute for a date night and a lot of fire pits and heaters made it nice and cozy.

Server Álvaro is an actual SAINT at Saint & Second!…read more I want to start by clarifying that I went to S&S yesterday afternoon ready to cry major boo-hoo tears to my two besties, without much of an appetite. Instead, I ended up with a full belly and side cramps from laughing along with our awesome server, Alvaro. The Man. The Myth. The Legend that he is! Small Backstory: Last Friday I lost my job of almost 25 years in public education due to a complicated work accident (my back was broken & I now have screws in my spine) and I planned to whine to my best friends into a cocktail or two, and get out plenty of Kim Kardashian ugly-cry faces until it would be time to go home. Enter ALVARO! This kind man had the nerve to be polite to us! The nerve! LOL. He greeted us with a warm smile while my cold heart was practically making it snow. He explained all portions of the breathtaking menu when I had planed to eat my sadness. He even had the GALL to say if we wanted something not on the menu that he would see what he could do to make it happen! Here I was, ready to drink Unicorn Tears, and he was cheering me up! WHAT THE??! LOL The three is us started with the MEZZE PLATE. And OH LORD! I think we ate the print off of the plates while trying to get to the last crumb. We polished off a whole extra serving of cucumber slices in the process, by the way, and I'm not embarrassed to say that. The Turkish honey-sweetened labne was such a party in our mouths! Make of that what you will. Each of us got a dinner entre, with mine being the S&S Fish and Chips. I loved that the fillet was not overly battered and the chips had an almost double-Belgium fried taste going on. I couldn't help but swipe several spoons worth of aged-cheddar grits off a friend's seared pork chop plate. Now THOSE were some butter-heaven sent grits! My drink, that kept shooting partially through my nostrils from laughter, was a classic margarita on the rocks. No margaritas were injured/harmed in the process of my belly laughter. At some point towards the end of our night, a patron of the mall next door pulled the site-wide fire alarm, ringing through the whole location for everyone to use caution and head to the closest exit. If you grew up like my friends and I, you don't follow that suggestion unless you're trying to run out on the bill like a jerk. Bless be to Alvaro, he stopped by our table several times to apologize about the noise and flashing lights and explained the fire department was working on it. I explained that the Hood Cricket sound didn't bother us and we were happy to wait out the alarm. So not only did Alvaro provide us with excellent service, an outstanding meal, and generous smiles, but he also made sure that we felt SEEN. And THAT is what made the whole evening worth it. No sadness or cringey tears about a lost job were needed. It ends up all we needed was a server named Alvaro at Saint & Second to make my spirits feel high again. Pricing is a bit high but was totally worth it! Patrons were dressed business casual. Sound level, not counting the hood cricket, was mid and conversation was easy to have. Several televisions were playing different stations but no captions were provided. There is handicap parking available in the parking garage located just outside the front door of the establishment and no stairs or elevators are needed to enter. There are several entrances/exits to the available outdoor seating area and outdoor heaters are available. Glances around showed me that every patron I saw was tucking into their plates with smiles and were enjoying themselves. I have already made plans to return to S&S in another two weeks because it was indeed THAT GOOD! And for those fine diners that are wondering, "But what is a Hood Cricket?" An HC is a chirping fire-alarm that some of us are able to tune out with ease. You're welcome!

It took some time to arrive, assuming because the Latte took time to make. When asked if we needed cream and sugar, we said yes. The server returned with tiny spoons and then disappeared. It took another 10 mins for the cream and sugar. The server gave us suggestions for entrees and we ordered. When our food arrived, the floor manager asked how everything was but we hadn't taken the first bite yet. The server returned to ask if we wanted another Latte. He never inquired about the coffee nor did he offer to refill it. For the entire service, the regular coffee was never refilled. I had the avocado toast, which was just ok. I was told the egg would be lightly scrambled and I agreed but I should have had it poached. The runny yolk would have helped the hard crust of the toast. The floor manager removed our dishes and the server only returned to ask if we wanted dessert. Highly doubtful I will return with so many more options in the area. Ok, bye.
