Quoted me $1500, 5 hours and 4 guys to do my move. They ended up charging me $4100 and took 14 hours over two days to move me. I spoke to Tom the morning that we realized they had made the mistake. I offered to pay more but ask that he get back to me with a quote. He never did and then proceeded to blame me for their mistakes. If you are going to use them, demand that they come and quote you in person. Get the quote in writing. read more

The entire experience was a nightmare. I had arranged for 3 movers and they took one off the job that morning without notifying me, because they thought he wasn't needed. The two they sent took twice the amount of time, so from what was supposed to be a 5 hr move to a 10 hr move. When I called to complain their response was because that sounds like it should have been a 3man job. They tried saying it was my fault because I didn't do an in house estimate, but I had one scheduled and they called me an hour before to cancel it and said it wasn't necessary so they would just do a phone estimate. Then the men damaged so many of our items, including damage to the walls. Their response was they are not responsible for any damage their men do to their customers property. Our movers were fantastic! We had a scheduling mix up on the day of the move and the guys were great. They were so understanding and helpful in figuring everything you. They even dealt with a broken freight elevator and made sure all our items were handled with care. They charged us fairly and had an overall great attitude about the whole day. read more

Wish I could give no stars! Had a 9am estimate. At 9am I see I have a missed call from them at 8:41am trying to confirm our appointment. I call and they said they will have to reschedule because they have already gone to the next appointment and mine was between 9am-10am. Is there a 0 star rating? It is not necessary to provide all the details as I would need much space to list them, but, I would warn against Ferree Movers. Their movers are disrespectful, my furniture and TV was received in damaged and soiled condition after storage, their storage pricing changes when they feel like raising the price without notice, they are misleading with descriptions and actual services, and, they are not professional. When they delivered a piece of furniture which was repaired, my mother accepted the delivery. The guys proceeded to a different part of my house, uninvited, to retrieve their moving blankets which were agreed upon to be left behind until a later date. Their actions frightened my elderly mom. 5-stars isn't enough in my opinion, as this company was the best of the best! Anyone reading this can probably agree that moving in general is hectic, stressful and a pain -- but not with Ferree Movers! From the time we first contacted them for an estimate to the moment the moving truck pulled away after finishing the job, it was obvious that everyone involved on their end genuinely CARED. The initial appointment was right on time and the estimate was on point. Our questions were answered with specificity and any concerns or instructions we had ("watch the wobbly leg on that coffee table!") were met over and above our expectations. Whether it was ensuring that our carpet/wood floor remained flawless by lying down pads and such on every inch of the ground on which the movers walked, or somehow having the MacGyver-like ability to disassemble and reassemble our infant son's crib without having the necessary tool from the manufacturer to do so (sorry about that!), you could honestly tell that our move wasn't just another sale or job to them and that a plethora of experience and knowhow is entrenched in everything they do. It's no small feat to make moving -- one of the least enjoyable tasks in life -- a positive, delightful experience. But Ferree Movers accomplished that every step of the way for us. I don't care if our next move is to Antarctica, the first call I make is to this company because the peace of mind that comes with knowing you're going to be taken care of is invaluable. want to start out with I have moved cross country twice before, both times using National moving companies with no problems. I've done a few local moves as well, helped my children move etc., suffice it so say I am a seasoned packer, knowing what size boxes to order. Purchasing Large rolls of bubble pack, dish packs, etc. In writing my review which is a very negative one, this was not my first move. I always get three bids, and I decided to go with Ferree Movers, out of Schererville IN. On the day of my move, three men showed up, the driver, his helper, and one local man from the Ferree office as the facilitator. He was very helpful and kept things moving and organized. The driver asked to look at everything I had before he started. He immediately started complaining, and my stomach went into knots. I am a single mom, and I always know by experience this was going to be a bad day, and I realized the driver kept looking around asking where my husband was and I told him it was just me. Whenever I get asked that, it is never good, as from experience people take advantage of me, as I am a nice person by nature, and they think I'm a sucker and they think they can take advantage of me since I'm single and especially a WOMAN!!! He started saying I had to many boxes, etc. I told him I had no idea what he meant, and this is the number of boxes I always have, and that when the estimator came out I showed him everything, and I had actually decided to leave a few pieces of furniture that were included in my move, so my load was less. He went on and on and said it was going to take up too much space. He started stressing me out all morning, as he continued to complain the entire time. I thought what I have gotten myself in to. John the facilitator told me to not worry about it, that I did not have to many boxes, and the driver was just being rude, and all was good. He said some drivers get picky about the space on their trucks. I thought as a paying customer, this should not happen, with getting berated the entire time they were loading me. I did nothing to deserve that. I had even made homemade cookies and coffee for them. I had packed all my own boxes, and I watched them take everything out of my home and load everything into the truck, I want to be perfectly clear on this. The driver told me it would take about 2 weeks to arrive to the west coast as he had five more families to load in different cities and then deliver their household belongings to their new homes and then he would be to me. They arrived 15 days later. When the driver came in before he started unloading, he gave me the paperwork, and told me most people don't check every box, and there was no need to check every box, and it would take way to long, and he had to get on the road for his next trip so not to worry about it. I said ok? Hesitantly??? I was gracious as I always am and asked if they had lunch, they said no, and I went and got them lunch. I started unpacking, with working full time I did the majority of unpacking over the next two weekends. I did start looking during the week in the evenings for the things I needed, such as: my coffee maker, dishes, towels, etc. To no avail, I could not find what I needed. I just chalked it up to the home I rented was much smaller therefore, I couldn't get to all my things, as it was pretty cramped. I just gave up and figured when I got to those boxes I would be fine. I finished unpacking a few days ago, and I actually felt like I was in a dream, a fog, as I just walked from room to room, and in circles in my living room, talking to myself, as I thought, where is my coffee machine, where are my towels, where is my Cuisinart, where are my lamps, where is my jewelry, my makeup, paintings, and on, and on, and on. I went to my Ipad and looked up all my pictures of my home and realized all the things that were missing that were out, not in cabinets and closets. If I listed everything that is missing, stolen, it would take another two pages, and to be honest, I haven't even been able to fully wrap my head around it yet, nor have I fully been able to finish my list of everything that is gone. The worst is, I lost my parents over 20 years ago, and a lot of their things are now gone, things that can never be replaced. I'm devasted, I feel so violated, I'm still in shock. Who would do such a thing. I had two binders of family recipes that were my mothers, grandmothers and aunt, that I will never be able to replace. I can never give these recipes to my children, must less make these recipes ever again. I am dumbfounded. I actually realized when I unpacked a few boxes that they had been unpacked and repacked with items that I would have never packed together nor did I pack together, and even a few bins that I did not own, but in them were my items thrown in them. We were arranging a move from Calumet City to Houston in March and most of the communication was done by phone from Houston. Sheryl was amazing and so patient with the long list of questions we had each time we called. On time on price and estimate spot on. First move in 40 years for us so we had no idea what to expect. They were great, covered floors, wrapped furniture, rolled up carpet. We just moved last weekend and didn't have the best experience. The crew was supposed to arrive between 8:30-9 and showed up about 10:15. I called and the office said "they went to do a favor for an elderly couple first" - which is great, just would have appreciated a call before I had to call them. When the crew arrived, they immediately looked around and asked if the office had come out to look at our move (they hadn't) because they could tell they didn't have a big enough truck or crew. Great!! They decided it would take 2 trips, so they packed up a half truck and went to our new house (Munster to Schererville- not terrible but we were still paying by the hour). Got back to old house to load up a second time and they said they still didn't have enough room for everything. (Leaving us wishing they would've packed more on trip 1!). So they took what they could and left us with 3 SUV/car loads to take on our own. When we got to the new house with trip 2, we were informed that our couch wouldn't fit down the stairs to the basement. I can understand that if it's true but they didn't even try. And then we were told the same about our elliptical - "someone will have to undo the bolts to move it" but that they (again) wouldn't try. Honestly after 8 hours total on a Friday I think the crew was just over the job. We bought them breakfast and lunch to try to motivate them but it wasn't enough. In fairness the guys (John, Tristan, and Erick) were nice guys - especially Erick, he busted his butt! But the company set them up to fail on this job. $1100 later and the only reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is because of the half-attempts from the crew. Ferree Movers is definitely a wonderful company to trust with your moving needs. My mother recommended this company to me because Pullman Standard used this company for their moving needs. This is a fair company with competitive pricing. The service I received from Ferree Movers is unmatched! From the initial phone call to the guys that came out and did all of the hard work I was thoroughly impressed. I was supposed to have three guys move me; however two came. One of the guys had car problems. The two guys that did come we're great! When I unpacked my things everything was in the same condition it was when I put them in the boxes and I mean everything. I moved under stressful circumstances and the team at Ferree made the actual moving process completely painless. If you are on the fence about who to hire I recommend Ferree Movers. I have used other local moving companies and they will nickel and dime you all the way to the bank. If you are looking for a quality moving company and fair price look no further.
