I review many restaurants, and always try to find great things to share. Rarely give less that four or five stars. It's a reach to give this place three stars. The ambiance is very tacky to say the least. There are these tacky fake vines hanging from a very white painted fake gazebo look. It feels like a cheap patio setting. If they cleaned up the atmosphere and brought in a warmer setting it may feel more like a nice Italian restaurant. The food was ok. We've gone several times now with friends and no one had positive reviews on what they ordered. It was ok is all was said. Clean up the atmosphere, it's time. I'm not sure how this place got listed with having several vegan options. Their ONLY option is their herbed plain spaghetti noodles. This dish is soaked in oil, then sprinkled with dried herbs...weird. Not tasty, just a mouthful of oil. Ambiance was very Italian, our waitress was very attentive, it was 3:00 p.m. on Sunday and only one other party was at the restaurant. We ordered Chicken Al Diavolo and Sea Food Fettuccine. The chicken was sparse and looked like frozen grilled chicken that was heated, maybe three pieces. The menu said there was carrots, celery, artichoke (one piece) and other veggies, also very sparse. The Sea Food Fettuccine had very small clams and salad type shrimp very sparse. Both entrees sauces were very tasty. The salad was great, bread was ok. The butter was very good and had rosemary in it (delicious). The menu stated to ask the waitress for dessert options, it was a celebration of our anniversary so we asked. She stated there were no desserts, but if there was one it would be chocolate lava cake or cheesecake. The dinner came with ice cream so we opted for Vanilla. To our surprise the ice cream did not come in a bowl scooped, but in a small plastic ice cream container with a spoon stuck in it. What a disappointment. $70.00 later and we were out of the restaurant. I wish we would have gone to the Olive Garden at least we would have known what we were getting for our $$. We did order one appetizer for $12.00. Our first visit to Ferraro's. We did not have the 4-5 star experience that many others are reporting. We were seated quickly on a Friday night at 6:00. Traditional decor, pictures of Italy, checkered table clothes. The staff was very nice and helpful. No issues there. I understand not all restaurants will have every dish but an Italian restaurant should have a Carbonara. This was what I wanted and why we went for Italian. Asked if they had it as I did not see it on the menu and no they do not have it. Okay decided just to go with the Fettuccini Alfredo on the menu that came with a salad and bread. The salad came family style and they give you small plastic containers to add your own dressing to your separate bowl. Not a big deal but not very nice to come in plastic. I expected more. Husband had the clam special. The food was just okay. Mine was a bit too al dente for my liking but I ate it anyway and not much flavor. Husband liked his but said it was nothing special. We also ordered a bottle of wine. No wine list. Just a few bottles to choose from on a table menu board. They had one that we like, Hogue Cabernet so ordered that. The waitress opened the bottle and filled our glasses. When she set the bottle down I noticed the label and it was not what we had ordered, the Hogue Cabernet. I said that was not what we ordered. She said they actually don't have the Hogue wine and this is what they had today. Huh? I told her I don't like just any wine. She said that they don't have the same bottles every day and that the distributor brings what they have and that is what they serve. Um, I'm sorry but this is unacceptable. If I order a certain bottle of wine I do expect that bottle, not a replacement and certainly not without being told or asked first. Especially when you are advertising Hogue and at $25.00 giving me some generic. Is this bait and switch? I am pretty upset at paying 25.00 for a generic wine. If you don't have what you are advertising at the table then either take it off or advise patrons and don't assume that making the switch is okay without asking. Prices were over $20.00 each. Preordered dinner for small group on DoorDash and have confirmation email and text. Arrived to pick up order and was told they do not work with DoorDash and don't have our order. DoorDash was great about working with us, but confirmed the restaurant signed up to work with DoorDash...just aren't honoring orders. The restaurant didn't offer to take our order manually and make it while we waited, just "sorry, have a good night". Building looks like it's been here for a while, so that's probably good... I was seated in the corner booth with no view, perhaps because I was by myself. There was six other booths open with views out the windows. The value was good, free bread, and complementary spumoni... Seafood fettuccine was great, salad was great. It would be five stars, but the host had me watching other patrons, instead of looking out the windows. My waitress warmed up and became friendlier throughout the meal, so that's good. My husband and I have been driving for 8 hours and we were ready to have a good meal - Italian sounded good. He found Ferraro's and it had a good star rating. So we decided to choose this restaurant. We loved the comfortable atmosphere. Our waitress -Ashley was very helpful in helping us and helped us in selecting the baked penne which we shared. The restaurant was awesome by splitting the meal for us. And provided both of us the ice cream!! Great customer service and welcoming. My wife & I live in San Francisco, but we come to Spokane Valley to visit our family, and have visited the Spokane area for 30 years. On our last visit, our daughter took us to Ferraro's and from the first bite we loved it. On one visit I had the chilcken parmagian and my wife probably had a seafood item. It was perfection. Not only was the food great, but the simple unpretentious ambiance of the place brought me back to some of the wonderful neighborhood places we used to have in San Francisco years ago. It was all around a wonderful experience and we can't wait to go back to Ferraro's on our next visit. My wife & I enjoyed Ferraro's so much, that one night we asked our hotel van to take us there just the two of us. For all of the above reasons, plus the fact that the prices are reasonable, I give them 5 stars, something I rarely do. read more

My experience was the first and last experience. The staff was rude, time to plate an Alfredo pasta dinner was 30 minutes, to get another glass of wine was 20 minutes and by the time we got our food we were done waiting and ready to go home. We got home and the pasta looked like it had been sitting on a plate for 45 minutes and slid into the Togo box like no one cared. I called to talk to the manager and needed to call back the next day. Been here a few times. Tonight we had the special which is two classics with soup or salad, bread and spimoni for desert. We chose the spaghetti with Italian sausage, spaghetti with meat sauce with aside meat ball. Both meals were ok with portions which I consider to be medium. We also had the calamari as an appetizer. Again a small portion with mayonnaise and a sweet and spicy sauce for dipping. The calamari was good flavored but the sauces need to be replaced with a marinara. Ever since the pandemic started, we have tried to support local restaurants by getting take-out once a week. We are fortunate to be able to do this, but we've learned some lessons in doing this with a family of five. We want to support local restaurants, but most around this area do not have some kind of online ordering system that lets you accurately put in orders, substitutions, and adjustments. During this time, we have ordered from national chains, and that is an advantage in doing so because they have been accurate with our big orders. One of the lessons we've learned is to try and be very clear whenever we call a local restaurant to set up a take-out order. Unfortunately, getting an accurate order has been hit and miss, to the point of being nervous whenever we do so. So when we called Ferraro's the other night, I was immediately apprehensive when the person who answered the phone on the other end seemed very quick and distracted by the background noise. We had an order of five meals and an appetizer, and I carefully went through each one and politely asked her to repeat the order back to me. Though everything was rushed, she seemed to have it written down correctly. When I arrived there to pick up the food, there was a little bit of a wait, and that was no big deal. Eventually, someone brought out all of our food, and even though there were other people waiting, I asked to make sure everything was there because it was a big order, the meals came with salad and bread and soup, and we live too far away to have to drive back. The employee checked the receipt and did a quick scan of the food and assured me everything was there. I should've stepped off to the side to examine myself, but there were so many people coming in and out that I assumed it was all correct. When I got home, it wasn't. They had left out one of the five meals. I called Ferraro's, and it took several attempts to try to get someone on the phone. When someone finally answered, I explained what happened, and I was hoping for one of two things to happen: 1. Have our missing meal delivered Or 2. Have our debit card be credited back for the missing meal. Ferraro's would not do either of those things. They said that they could either give me credit for another visit or I could come and pick up the meal. I had to go back to the restaurant to pick it up. This has happened before with a big chain, but at least they were able to credit back my card for the missing item. When I got there, the manager gave me the missing meal and had cash to give back to me for the cost of the meal. She was nice about it, and I declined to take the cash. I understand mistakes happen, but this has happened multiple times with local restaurants whenever phone orders are placed. I guess this could easily be solved with a simple quality check process and an emphasis on being proactive about repeating back orders when taken over the phone. As far as the food goes, this is the second time we've had Ferraro's (the first being inside the restaurant prior to the pandemic). Ferraro's is similar to a lot of Mexican restaurants around our area: The food has all the hallmarks of its theme (Italian, in this case), but there is no evidence of authenticity or freshly used ingredients and so forth. It is what it is, and that's completely fine. Maybe this has to do with the fact that each meal comes with soup or salad and a small serving of spumoni ice cream, but for the taste and portions, I believe the meals are overpriced by about three or four bucks. Many of the meals we ordered were just under $19, and I think that they would've been more appropriately priced around $15 based on the portions and the flavor of our meals, which basically all tasted like spaghetti sauce. This is a characteristic of a lot of Mexican restaurants in our area, where the food all tastes the same regardless of what you get. As much as we want to support local businesses, there is an Olive Garden opening nearby soon, and we will just end up going there whenever we are in the mood for Italian food. I'm all for supporting local restaurants, and there are some amazing ones in our area that understand they are up against national chains and do things that make it worthwhile to patron them. But Ferraro's just doesn't seem like one of those places. read more

Ferraro's has been my favorite in Spokane for a long time, although I think the salads at the north side location are slightly better. I started visiting when the owner's dad opened up Tony Ferraro's in that little Steer Inn over on Market. That place unfortunately closed, but Tony still works on the north side. The food at Ferraro's is probably as good as Italian gets in Spokane. I've been to Luigi's and Tomato Street and I didn't personally think they even came close, but for some reason, Ferraro's has always been underrated. Everything I've ever tried off the menu was great, but the Chicken Parmesan is second to none. That's one of my favorite dishes to make and I'm usually good at recreating food dishes, but I've never been able to come close with that one -- I don't even know what they're doing differently or how to describe it, just that the noodles, chicken, and sauce are all head and shoulders above anything I can make or find elsewhere. And most meals are around $15, the prices never really get out of hand, which is really impressive for such a lovely restaurant with excellent food. It's a great place to take a date, because the dining room is beautiful, with flowers and lights weaving across the white lattice. The owner will sometimes work waiter and sing in Italian while he brings people their food, which is a nice added touch. For atmosphere, I'd give it pretty high marks. Don't waste your time at the other overpriced, overrated Italian restaurants in Spokane. This isn't just the best Italian food in Spokane, it's probably the best food period. read more

My family just moved to Spokane from Vegas and we were looking for a go-to Italian spot that isn't Olive garden. We had our dog with us so we decided to get our order to go. We tried the chicken marsala, seafood alfredo, spaghetti with mushrooms and the appetizer sampler. Everything was spectacular.
