Sample Platter - Manicotti & Fettuccine Alfredo
Laura J.

I got the sample platter with manicotti with meat sauce and fettuccine alfredo. And got the tomato soup. Tomato soup was lacking in flavor a little, was a bit too sour and mostly tasted like black pepper. The sample platter was delicious though. Both dishes were super heavy, rich, and flavorful. I was unable to finish due to how heavy each of them were and how much cheese there was. I definitely prefer the fettuccine alfredo, because towards the end of the manicotti I felt like I was just eating meat sauce and very little pasta.

It's great for the area. Nice food and ambiance. Nice staff. Good for a date night if you are wanting to try something new.

Been coming here since I was a teenager and then started taking my daughter since she was still in a curse at! I love the food, the atmosphere and especially the house made desserts!!

Sampler: Manicotti with Marinara and Fettuccine Alfredo

Homey, American Italian with a laid back atmosphere and attentive service. We came here the night before last just for dessert and liked it so much we made reservations for last night for dinner. Both the hostess (can't remember her name and our waitress (Jessica) were bend over backwards accomadative. For dessert we had the Raspberry Cheesecake, Bailey's Cheesecake and Tiramisu with coffee. The next night for dinner we had the Calamari, Sampler Dip with Salmon, Roasted Garlic and Gorgonzola Fondue. All delish and our party each had their favorites. Mine was the Salmon and my Mom loved the Fondue. We had beer, wine and cocktails. My Martinis were really good with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives. My brother wasnt crazy about the Dark and Stormy or the Old Fashioned. Just a little weak on flavor and liquor. We chose for entrees the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo, Eggplant Parm and The Sampler which you can choose from a number of Italian favs. I chose the Manicotti with Marinara and the Alfredo. We loved our Alfredos! The sauce wasnt too rich or cheesy, just a nice lighter cream sauce with a good amount of some alcohol in it and lots of shallot which I absolutely love. My Mom couldn't stop raving about the Brussels on her dish. We added a few Meat Balls a la carte and they were just okay. I don't think I would get those again. Nice house salads or soup with the meal. The service takes a while but for Italian I always like that. It helps you savor and not rush.

It's time for our annual trip to Spokane for my wife's immersion and if you follow my reviews at…read moreall, you know that my job on vacation is to coordinate the food. This evening we decided we would go to Sorella. A gorgeous photo of their focaccia brought us in. Since finishing chemo and radiation for my breast cancer, food has been an interesting experience for me, so when I want something, I go for it immediately. I will note, if you're interested in trying Sorella, BOOK A TABLE! We were able to snag seats at the bar, but even on a Tuesday, this place is in demand, and after enjoying our meal, I can see why. When we walked in, we were stunned. Beyond the natural light flooding into the roo,m there were gorgeous deep teal walls with a gallery wall and gold accents. The bar was adorned with gorgeous counter tops that had low lights, and a mix of velvety chairs gave it a soft luxe feel. The aroma of the food was lightly sprinkled throughout, and the décor were simply stunning. It would be a great place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary, date night or just a casual moment with friends. A full menu is available at the bar and the staff was incredibly attentive - more details on our experience are below, after the food review. Now let's talk about what we ordered. We got the Focaccia (of course), Arancini, Dante's meatballs, the Cesare, the Limone and a Pasta Speciale. Focaccia - 10/10 I love when food tastes as good as it looks. The focaccia melted in my mouth and carried so much flavor on its own. The whipped brown butter was such an excellent addition and truly a masterpiece to add to it. I could have easily ordered two more (and I should have). Arancini - My rating 7/10, My wife's rating 9/10 The presentation was beautiful on this dish. My rating centers around my taste buds not aligning with the flavor profile, and not really knowing what to expect. I find myself preferring a stronger, almost cheesy flavor now, and this was a bit more subtle. My wife, however, fully enjoyed them and loved the flavor they carried even without the sauce. Dante's Meatballs 10/10 Spectacular, give me 12! These were so delicious, the meat was so flavorful and the sauce, WHEW the sauce was delicious. Yes, we did dip the focaccia in the sauce. Cesare - 10/10 I love a good salad, and Caesar is my favorite. At other restaurants, I find myself wanting more dressing or more flavor ,and I often feel like pieces of the salad are missed when preparing. This salad was dressed from end to end. We squeezed the lemon on top, and it sealed the deal. Every bite was fresh and had a slight crunch and crisp that was exactly what we were looking for. Limone - 10/10 When we looked at the menu, my wife glanced over and immediately knew what I was ordering, and after my first bite, I was so glad that I did. The execution of this dish was perfect. The noodles were thick and almost creamy alongside the butter, and there was the perfect balance with the parmigiana reggiano. When I order it again (because we will be back), I will definitely add prawns. Pasta Speciale - 8/10 I meant to snap a photo of the menu, but this was on the special menu. There were prawns, mornay, garlic, arugula and a few other things that I am forgetting. The prawns were incredibly fresh, as were the noodles, and the flavors blended very nicely in this dish. Lemonade - 10/10 The lemonade was delicious! I don't know that I've mentioned this on any of my reviews before, but I love lemonade and order it with every meal outside of breakfast. This lemonade was the perfect balance of tart and sweet. Limoncello - 10/10 We shared two of the housemade limoncello shots to go as we were checking out, and I wish I had recorded our reaction. The execution of the flavor was perfect, and it definitely packed a punch! Our server/bartender was Mary Katherine, and beyond being the sweetest, she was also incredibly knowledgable of the menu. As luck would have it, we ended up sitting next to the owner's family and got to chat with her amazing Mother throughout the night (who was kind enough to let her try some of her delicious lasagna) and ended up meeting the owner. Lauren, the owner, took a pause to talk to us, and it was so evident that she is truly such a brilliant and sweet soul. She radiates, and who she is as a person aligns exactly with how Sorella feels: ethereal. Overall, we had an amazing experience, from the ambiance to the service, the conversation at the bar, and the delicious food. We cannot wait to try Fratello's, the sandwich shop also owned by Lauren, this week.

The arancini was delicious, and my fiancé absolutely loved his steak. He said it was incredibly tender and cooked really well. It didn't come with any sides besides roasted tomatoes and a few ribbons of zucchini. Unfortunately, my meal was more of a mixed experience. I ordered the alla vodka, but the sauce had a strong goat cheese flavor to me, which I really don't enjoy. I didn't notice goat cheese listed in the description, so that was an unexpected flavor for me. I also added chicken breast to the pasta for an additional $14, and unfortunately it was very bland, dry, and stringy. For that price, I expected the chicken to be much better. The Caesar salad was beautifully presented, but it lacked the punchy, savory flavor I usually love in a Caesar. Overall, we enjoyed the atmosphere, service, drinks, and some of the food, but for us, Sorella feels more like a place we'd return to for drinks and appetizers rather than a full dinner experience. I'd definitely come back for the ambiance and to try some of the other small plates, though!

Exposed brick walls, bronzish art pieces, warm lighting--it feels stylish without trying too hard ( did not know restaurant is 30 years old) I was joining after a run, so I was probably a little underdressed . The general vibe is chic-casual, but I still felt completely comfortable and welcomed. My host was incredibly kind and accommodating throughout the meal. I ordered the hanging tenderloin medium rare based on her recommendation, and she was also more than happy to add some greens on the side when I asked. I really appreciate that Mizuna makes a point of using vegetables from local farms. The dish almost reminded me of something you might get at a traditional Lyonnaise restaurant, but with a more modern and refined touch. The beet salad, though, was a piece of art. I would honestly come back just for this dish. The beets had an almost candied quality without being overly sweet, and they worked beautifully with the freshness of the mint and the creamy chèvre mousse. Fantastic balance of flavors and textures. Great atmosphere, genuinely warm hospitality, and food that feels thoughtful without being overly complicated. Mizuna was a really enjoyable surprise.

Goat used to be bad...if a kid was the goat on the team, he was the worst player. Now, goat has turned to 'Greatest of all time' due to the acronym G.O.A.T. So when we went to dine at The Flying Goat in Spokane, the question on my mind is...will it be 2000's GOAT, or 1980's goat? The interior was pretty small but a unique layout of tables. I liked the darkness of the restaurant and the darker wood they use for accents and the bar. They also have a larger patio that is adorned with space heaters, umbrellas, and a wooden shady overhang...so no matter the weather you may be able to enjoy your meal outdoors. They also have a private event building that can seat a party. Our server was attentive and helpful. We did get there right when they opened for lunch, but that doesn't always equate to good and special attention. We ordered two of their artisan pizzas for our table of 3. The 'Fairview' was a must order and a huge hit. It used a heavy cream base and a house cheese blend. The toppings were house back bacon, gorgonzola sprinkles and pears...yes pears, which made this sucker pop! We also ordered a Lacrosse pizza- olive oil, fresh mozz, red peppers, italian sausage, pecorino and basil. This pizza was really light but packed a flavor punch as well. They have many other specialty pizzas on their menu that also sound amazing, ranging from yellow curry based to ones with snap peas, fried eggs, carrots and more. If artisan pizzas aren't your jam, they have sandwiches, salads, stews and more. To answer my original question...this place is the 2000s Goat...or very close to GOAT. Not my favorite all-time pizza place, but definitely in contention! Thanks Flying Goat for an amazing lunch!
