With all the boba stores we have in the Bay Area, I've considered myself to be somewhat of a boba connoisseur... and Feng Cha is definitely one of my favorites! I love that they're open slightly later, and have a large seating area. I tried something new, their Ginger Milk Tea, and added Sea Salt foam on top, which was the best idea ever! The ginger gives a little spice and warmth, and I love how creamy the foam made it when I mixed it in. I also love the quality of their fruit teas, my boyfriend opted for their Jasmine Apple Green Tea w/ boba. Their tea is always on point, but for some reason the boba was oddly clumped up, making it impossible to sip through the straw. A little more attention to detail would've made this drink perfect. The cakes REALLY reminded us of bánh bông lan, or Vietnamese vanilla sponge cakes, and are a good substitution for if you're craving soufflé pancakes but aren't eating them immediately. Have found that the cakes are liable to run low or out around holidays as people pick them up for small, casual celebrations. Though that will probably stop being an issue when the location is just generally less new and more on their feet. They have the regular boba milk and fruit tea drinks as well as popular lattes, but there are also caffeine-free drinks (fruit milk, icy, etc.) and now coffee (according to the general Feng Cha Instagram). The fresh fruit teas also have the option to be made decaf by substituting tea with sparkling water. Feng Cha is an international brand that now has four locations in the Bay Area, with Burlingame's probably the most well-known thanks to their Instagram account lol. This Milpitas Town Center one is the South Bay's location and they're making it out as a full-on café rather than a pickup place. There is SO MUCH seating and plenty of parking with it being in such a major shopping plaza. It makes sense though since they're almost right behind the city hall and civic center. Will be great for when people want to sit down in between whatever event Milpitas is holding around here, and I can imagine it's nice if you need somewhere to sit down after visiting one of the medical or dentist offices across the street. I have been here a few times over the past few months because it is a great spot to study/work! It's clean, beautifully decorated + plenty of tables and outlets making it a convenient spot to settle down. In terms of drinks, I have tried: + Strawberry Overload: light tea flavor & mashed/puréed strawberries at bottom + Lychee Oolong: oddly sweet/no tea flavor + Classic Milk Tea: pretty good, can't go wrong here + Oolong Tea w/ Cheese Foam: good, but probably won't get again. Personally, don't LOVE an iced tea topped with just foam -- would just get milk tea :) + Creme Brûlée: Delicious, sugary, and heavy -- definitely an indulgence for me. The foam + milk combo makes it even creamier (which is good/bad depending on your lactose tolerance) All the drinks are pretty, but in terms of taste they are okay. Great quality teas with dairy alternatives and dessert! Sign me up! As much as I love milk tea, sadly the feeling isn't mutual. I've had to find boba places that offer dairy alternatives. This isn't very common so when I find a place that does, I get very excited. I've had Feng Cha before and really loved their cakes. That was the initial reason I came to this location and the alternatives were an added bonus. I had the dirty boba which not only made my taste buds happy, but also my tummy. They didn't have any more of the cakes so we opted for the mozzarella sticks and garlic fries. Both were a tad too salty, but the drinks more than made up for it. We came back the next day because I really wanted the milk foam cake. We got two cakes: the strawberry and taro with chocolate. Both were good, but the taro one was surprisingly better than I thought it would be. I got a roasted oolong with cheese foam and my friend got the Thai tea with soy. I LOVED the cheese foam on my tea. It's probably one of the best I've had. Service was ok, but it took a while to get food and drinks. I understand that making drinks is labor intensive. However, when this place gets busy, get ready for a wait. Parking in this shopping area is pretty challenging, especially weekend evenings. It took us a while to find something on a Friday night. Had lunch next door and decided to stop by for a quick drink. I ordered the Overflowing Grapefruit which is essentially grapefruit and green tea. If you're not in the mood for caffeinated green tea - you can ask to substitute the tea with sparkling water. The drink was not bad. I ordered it 25% on the sweetness and it was still a bit too sweet for me but I thoroughly enjoyed the grapefruit juice. Looks like the menu offers quite a variety of drinks and some sweet treats. First time trying feng cha and glad they have a location in Milpitas. Came here after dinner on a Thursday night with some friends. It seemed packed inside but there was no line to order. The worker that was taking the orders was friendly and helpful. It was late so I ordered a fruit tea - bursting dragon fruit with sparkling water as a substitute instead of tea. It was okay but I could tell that it would've been good if there was tea. They also have the option to adjust sweetness and ice. They also have food options but we ordered a princess strawberry milk foam cake. It was light and fluffy with cream, strawberry glaze and some strawberry bits on top. Overall, the items that we ordered were good, service was good, simple decor with real indoor plants, and workers were nice. Not my first time at Feng Cha, but it's my first time at this location. I wanted to try something new + fruity, so I asked the cashier for recommendation. It didn't seem like she had the opportunity to try all the drinks yet herself, but she did point out that the kiwi basil and bursting dragonfruit were the top 2 orders from customers. We ended up getting a bursting dragonfruit (50% sugar) + strawberry breeze (75% sugar). If I must be honest, the dragonfruit drink tastes like the one at Starbucks (if you tell them light lemonade), so if you want to save $1...you know where to go. Don't get me wrong, the one at Feng Cha still tastes good. The strawberry breeze isn't too unique either, but it's pretty good and it's reasonably priced. They offer free wifi and there were plenty of outlets + tables in store, so it seems like a good place to work. I saw some people working/studying when we went at night. Hopefully this pandemic thing would be over soon (again) so that I'll finally be able to study and chill at cafes. read more

My absolute favorite tea shop! I love the Jasmine Apple Green Tea or the summer melon! I get less sweetness and less ice for both and both are so refreshing. It's a large tea shop and offers lots of other drinks such as milk tea and offers different types of snacks such as popcorn chicken, fried calamari, fries, and egg rolls. It's definitely a nice spot to hangout with friends or come for a quick date with a special someone. I decided to give Feng Cha another chance and I am so glad I did. I was feeling more of a milk tea today so I got the dirty boba milk tea which is honestly sooo good. I got 50% sweet and ice which I think is the sweet spot with the right amount of sweetness. The creme brûlée topping with the little charred pieces was delicious and the best part. Every ingredient in the drink came together and created a decadent taste. Gave Feng Cha in Milpitas a chance several months ago. Boba was okay, nothing special. Gave it a second chance several months later. My opinion hasn't changed all that much. I got myself the Four Seasons Spring Boba Milk Tea ($5.75). It was about 20 fl. oz. Requested at half sweetness, half ice. The problem I have with the drink is how weak the tea is. You get a nice brûlée taste with my particular drink at its current configuration, but not much else. It wasn't watery per se, but you may struggle to identify the tea flavor over the lactose-free creamer. The lack of milk alternative options disappointed me. The pearls were perfectly sweet and chewy though! This would set the review at a three stars, but my experience was affected by the overall atmosphere and waittime of the place. Order took 15 minutes on a busy Friday evening. There was a small language barrier between me and my cashier. To make matters worse, the soundproofing of the place is absolutely atrocious. I know this doesn't sound like a big deal, but not only does it make it difficult to place an order, it makes it difficult to hear your order and enjoy being seated inside. You could hear everyone clearly but yourself. In this weird feedback loop, you have to speak louder, thereby reinforcing the loudness of the area. I don't know about coming back. I really don't. Seems like there are much better boba options if you're in Milpitas. read more

Rating - 2.5 Stars Drinks were honestly very okay. More on the disappointing side. The Dirty Boba was super underwhelming cause it severely lacked flavor. There was barely any brown sugar taste despite what the drizzle may lead you to believe. The brand of oat milk that they use also had too strong of an oat taste and this was the first time where I've gotten an oat milk substitution where the oat was so pronounced. The Bursting Dragonfruit wasn't much better. It had a slight tang, but not reminiscent of dragonfruit at all. I was hoping it'd be like Tea Hut in SF, but this also lacked flavor. They have a pretty big snack menu as well. + Apple Jasmine Green Tea: I was really surprised that I enjoyed this so much! Refreshing, sweet, a bit tart, and great jasmine tea flavor. There's actual apple cubes inside too. I highly recommend. + Mango Au Lait: My go-to drink whenever I go to Feng Cha. The mango puree is so flavorful and doesn't taste artificial. I had been meaning to try Feng Cha for a while now and finally had an opportunity while grabbing lunch nearby on Super Bowl Sunday. There was only one party of 3 girls in front of me placing their order. I ended up ordering the Dirty Boba Milk Tea and the Strawberry Overload with boba (both at 75% sweet and ice). Total was a little over $14 before tip. I will say their drinks were both really tasty. 75% sweet was the right call for us since it did not overpower the tea flavor. The boba was still warm when we got our drinks and it was nice and chewy. I enjoyed the fresh taste of the strawberry bits and thought the drink was made really well. Unfortunately, the service was pretty awful. I waited nearly 15 minutes for my 2 drinks when there was only one party ahead of me. They were almost done with my order when one of the girls that had ordered ahead of me told them they messed up their drinks. The guy and girl working behind the counter were already working super slow, but they left my last drink (that just needed the cheese foam topping), and slowly remade the other two drinks while chatting and laughing with each other. Once they finished remaking the drinks for the girls, they started on the next few orders after mine, leaving my almost finished drink just sitting there for another 5 minutes with a metal spoon in it. I saw that there were a bunch of other orders ready to go on the counter, so I'm assuming people were able to order ahead online, slowing down the process even more. Located in another shopping center just off of N. Milpitas, it's located right next to a large Vietnamese pho place that I've yet to visit. When you turn into Town Center, depending on which direction you're coming from you'll have to drive into the shopping center a bit before you get to the spot. This Feng Cha location is quite nice, and large open spaces. Honestly, one of the nicer boba places I've been in awhile, but considering it's in this area, it certainly fits well with everything. It's lighted very well as it has big windows in the front, but also shaded from the direct sunlight during the summers. If you need a cool spot to drop into for a drink, and to just cool off this is a pretty good option for those in the area. Again, lots of space too, and everything is quite clean and nice. The menu is reasonably sized. There are enough options on there that it should have something for everybody. Price wise, it's also quite reasonable considering how many boba spots are in the area. In the direct area, this might be one of the better boba spots around, albeit I haven't tried Teasociety yet just across the street, but the feel of these two places are complete opposites, if that's something that matters for those who are looking for a sit down. Today I got their typical Classic Boba Milk Tea and a Matcha Latte. The cup sizes here are just one size, and it's the larger tall sturdy cups, for those who know what I'm talking about. But it's not the slim version, so you get a pretty good amount of drink for what you're spending on them. The Matcha Latte was pretty good. This is basically their Matcha Milk Tea, for those who are curious. It's got a pretty strong Matcha taste to it though, so for those looking for a milder tasting matcha, this one probably isn't for you. But it was good, so no complaints. The Classic Boba Milk Tea was also quite good. For Milk Tea, one of the better places around, as you can actually taste the milk and the tea mixtures in there, so the sweetness stands out a bit more. Lately some of the milk teas I've had were on the blander side, but this one is solid for a boba place. And the boba itself was nice as well. Probably more on the QQ side than on the mushier side, so if you like your boba chewier (not in a bad way), you'll enjoy the boba here. All in all, not a bad place to get some boba at. My one complaint perhaps is mainly with the employees attitudes, or the lack of personality or interest, but they seem like they're high school students just needing a job so I can't fault them too much for the lack of enthusiasm. They weren't rude or anything, but just very disinterested in engaging the customer. Could be worse. We ordered 4 drinks: Dirty boba, Kiwi basil green tea, Summer melon green tea, and Bursting dragonfruit. I have to say, all the drinks were really good. My favorite would have to be the bursting dragonfruit. I love when the fruity drinks comes with fruit bits. The green tea is on the stronger side. I tried Feng cha at the Newark location and it blew my mind. I was happy to see there was one close to my place, but upon getting my drink I was so disappointed. My dirty boba, I ordered 75% sugar but it tasted like there was No sugar... I had to ask them to add some in. Also, the cheese foam topping was no velvety creamy and salty this time, it was thin and tasted a little sour, maybe it went bad? I hope my stomach won't be paying for this in a couple of hours. I don't normally order taro drinks at boba shops but decided to cave and purchase one at Feng Cha based on a friend's recommendation. I got the Taro Breeze with 50% sugar, but the first iteration of the drink I got wasn't as sweet as my friend's with the same sweetness setting. The store was kind enough to increase the sweetness of my drink, and even though it was a bit over-blended at this point, it tasted perfect! I recommend the Taro Breeze for anyone who's looking for something creamy and sweet -- and strangely enough, this drink also reminded me of vanilla ice cream. Even if you're not a fan of taro like me, don't let this deter you! The interior of the shop is both aesthetically pleasing and cozy, and it was easy for us to find a seat on a Tuesday evening. Ginger tea had a perfect temperature- I had a 10 min drive home and was still warm and drinkable. It was a bit on the sweet side for me but I didn't make any adjustments. Matcha breeze had more of a vanilla matcha taste. Strawberry breeze was on the tart side probably need to mix more with the whipped topping.
