    Grilled Zucchini Salad
    Christine L.

Fedora recently reopened and wow! The new space feels much bigger than the original but still maintains that cozy village vibe. Came for a dinner resy on Saturday. We were a tad late to our reservation but thankfully were still able to be seated by the friendly host. Started with some wine, loved the chilled Gamay for a light and refreshing option. For the food we had: -Grilled Zucchini Salad: pretty simple. Cheese is strong but tasty. -Cured Snapper w Cucumber: very olive oil forward. Not much flavor to the fish. Meh would pass. -Pierogies w Chantrelles: second favorite dish! Cooked more like a ravioli than a classic pierogi but it was delicious and rich and savory! -Chicken Cordon Bleu: also rich, lots of cheese. Perfectly crispy and moist. -Grilled Corn Polenta: AMAZING! This was my favorite dish! The flavor of the grilled corn really paired well with the polenta, and I loved the spice on the popcorn topping. Service was also great throughout the night despite them getting rly busy. Overall a solid spot. Between the corn polenta and those pierogies I would definitely come back.

I imagine that Fedora II or Fedora-the-Second for this new incarnation is more cumbersome than keeping the original name. Water under the bridge. All of the cocktail-bar-meets-aperitif-bar atmosphere of the original remains intact, accompanied by a curated French-inflected menu (think chicken cordon bleu) and with an old-world focused wine by the glass selection. A youngish, mostly heterosexual crowd is often found here. Food service is exceptional as one would expect from the St. Jardim team and the amiability of the hosts guarantees that one will return on another day if seats are unavailable on your visit. Vigorous exercise of your vocal cords is necessary if members of your party wish to hear each other; but you were expecting that already.

Fedora has returned, again. This is the third iteration of the Greenwich Village legend and it is a worthy successor to its two predecessors. The team is excellent and they have created an excellent vibe. The food is creative and very tasty. We are happy to have Fedora back! Go now before it becomes impossible to get a reservation.

I heard about the recently reopened Bar Fedora and knew I had to come as soon as possible to try it. As a disclaimer, I never visited this bar before it closed down in 2020 so I don't have a frame of reference for this review relative to how it was prior. However, I had a pretty enjoyable experience here for the first time! I had a reservation on a weekday around 9pm and was surprised at how many people were here. The host greeted us kindly and led us to our table right when we arrived. The place has such an intimate and classic feel that feels very nice without being over the top. The dim lights make it very romantic. We started off with some drinks-- a Negroni and a Doña Rosa which were both perfectly balanced in flavor, refreshing, and went down smoothly. For food, their menu is very straightforward and they offer a few dishes per section. I was very sad to hear they had ran out of the chicken cordon bleu which is one of the main reasons I had come. My fiancé and I ordered: - Grilled squid with quail eggs: surprising combination but it works! Get this with side bread to soak up the egg yolk with squid juices and tangy parsley sauce. The squid was perfectly tender and seasoned just right! - Pierogis: very bright and spring-reminiscent dish. The pierogis were generously stuffed with a salted cheese which contrasted beautifully with the sweetness of the peas and spring alliums. This also came with a little creamy sauce on top that made this *chefs kiss*. - Spaghetti: came with a light sauce that was buttery, a little tangy, and with generous bits of clams. Very good flavor but the pasta itself was not as al dente as it could have been. The herbal hints from the oregano - Grilled tilefish: very strong dish! The tilefish reminded me a lot of cod in terms of how flaky and buttery it was but it had less sweetness. The fish itself was super flavorful and came over a bed of sautéed nettles (thought it was spinach) that was just divine. The whole dish came together with this creamy sauce on top that balanced out the flavors well and made it feel so comforting. Super well prepared. - Black bass provençale: Amazing! I think this was my favorite dish of the night. The bass was perfectly cooked and it came over this spectacular sauce with generous olives, capers, herbs, and a hint of red wine/balsamic that just elevated the whole dish and transported you to a summer night in the south of France. Amazing flavors, simple but super satisfying. - Dessert: we could not decide on a dessert so we tried both the carrot cake and the rice pudding. The carrot cake looked like a thick slab of bread but somehow was super moist and not cake-y at all. The cream cheese frosting on top was so buttery and had hints or warm spices like nutmeg and cinnamon. I thought the amount of raisins and nuts in the cake was perfect. The coconut rice pudding was creamy and had a subtle coconut flavor. The sweetness level was perfect and not too overwhelming. It came with this delicious hard chocolate shell that also had the perfect level of sweetness balanced by some sea salt on top. Both desserts were phenomenal! Would recommend you try both if you have room. Overall, the food had great flavor, felt very homemade, and tasted fresh. I think what makes this place stand out is the exceptional service and the spectacular ambiance. This place feels so lowkey yet elevated/longstanding, like a true hidden gem. The service felt professional but without coldness --I appreciated how all the staff knows how to be a little more casual, show their personalities, and provide customers with a sense of familiarity. Prices were pretty steep and the food did not necessarily completely blow my mind (which is what I was expecting). However, I will definitely make my way back one day for some good vibes and cordon bleu.

Wow! Best dinner experience we've had in a long time. All around 5 stars. From the moment you walk it - friendly service, beautiful dark mossy speak easy vibes but classy and sophisticated. All the meals were a hit and the cocktails! The house martini and apple martini both excellent. The squash, pierogies, persimmons Waldorf, and omg the cordon blue! Absolutely divine! We were all around impressed at our overall experience and would take friends and family here again. Sadly the story of the old woman that once owned it showing up to applause is no more - she passed away a few years ago. But her presence is still felt. We will definitely be back!

There's a reason Fedora has serious staying power in the West Village. The popular supper club has been on my radar for several years at this point, and for some reason I only got around to visiting this past Saturday. Perhaps I knew it would still be there waiting for me, still as formidable as ever. Fedora is part of HC Hospitality, the same group that runs other well-known, West Village powerhouses such as Joseph Leonard, Jeffery's Grocer and Bar Sardine. It's not surprising, then, that Fedora feels like the quintessential West Village venue: it's cozy and intimate, nestled off 7th Ave South, and it boasts small menus that are masterfully constructed and executed. Though a heavily-trafficked spot (particularly on weekends), service was superb throughout. Made a reservation (pretty much mandatory here if you want seats) for a table at 8:15 on a Saturday night. You can reserve bar seating or table seat here, so it's unlikely you'll see an empty chair here as a walk-in. Just keep your eye on Resy and you'll be fine. The space itself is warm and intimate, lively with a subtle old-timey feel. Fedora is one of the many sub-street level venues in the area, which lends itself to the feeling of longevity you get here. Though it's an excellent spot for a date, keep in mind that Fedora is kind of a bar-restaurant hybrid, so the weekend rush/noise level at primetime is significant. It didn't detract at all from our experience, just fun to observe. I suppose that's as good of a segue as I'll get (read: allow myself) into Fedora's cocktail program. Between me and the bf, I got to try four drinks, all of which outstanding. The menu here is well-thought-out, varied, creative and elegant. Innovative combinations and intelligent twists-on-classics. My first drink was the No Shrubs (Lemon Verbana gin, yellow chartreuse, apple cider vinegar, walnut bitters), which gets extra props for the name. Somehow both familiar and adventurous. You might think Last Word but the ACV and walnut bitters shake it up. So good. The bf tried the Hey There, Bedroom Eyes (Cocoa-infused banks rum, campari, byrhh, orange oil), which wasn't his favorite but I personally loved it. Rich, perfectly-balanced, excellent for winter. Second round was the Black Squirrel Old Fashioned (Bourbon, Cherry Heering, maple, pecan bitters) for me and the Godspeed (red win, Jamaican rum, allspice dram, honey, citrus ginger beer) for him. That Old Fashioned is something special. A bit sweeter than your typical Old Fashioned but still grounding and warming from the nuttiness of the bitters. Food-wise, I really don't think you can go wrong here. The menu is fairly small so if you're into sharing, you can conquer a good portion of it with a small party size. Good balance of raw, cooked, meats, seafood, veggies. Exciting, elegant and sophisticated yet--similar to feel of the beverage program--familiar and comforting. A delicate balance that was seemingly struck effortlessly. Our eats, below: Spanish Mackerel Crudo w/ whipped ricotta, garlic chips, dill: A+ Fresh, creamy, melt-in-your mouth good. Beautiful flavor combination here with the addition of the dill. Soft, silky, elegant. If you're looking for some extra texture, there are some crisps both sprinkled on top and to the side. Steak Tartare w/ smoked cream, trout roe, herb croutons: A+ Flavorful and fun. Steak tartare is an easy go-to for me, and this was one of the better ones I've had. Every little component had its place and was in sync with the rest. Light but still powerful. Shiitake, Trumpet & Oyster Mushrooms w/ poached egg and brown butter: A+ Decadent and warming. I love the bringing out the richness and complexity in mushrooms, and this dish was it for me. The egg and brown butter were just divine. Even the wary-casual mushroom eater will delight in this. Hemp-Crusted Pollock w/ leeks, asparagus, meyer lemon: A I'm always 50-50 on ordering white fish entrees because they run the risk of being bland and boring. This was approached, constructed and executed beautifully. The hemp was a fabulous touch, the flavors were delicate and earthy so as not to overpower the flavor of the pollock. Brussels Sprouts w/ Cider, Bacon: A+ Nothing fancy about this one. Heaven in every bite. I love bacon, I love cider and I love Brussels. Brussels with bacon bits are great. Brussels with real chunks of thick-cut bacon, even better. Add was sweetness and a little char and you've got yourself a more-than-worthy side.

One of the best dining experiences of my life. Period. I can't wait to make it back to NYC just to eat here again. We dined at the. At because every were do damn excited to get a reservation for a Saturday night. Braised Rabbit Gnocchi. Mouthwatering, succulent, rich. I could have eaten 3 servings. Deviled Eggs with Trout Roe? Why not. Cocktails. On point. You won't regret a craft cocktail or wine selection with your dinner. Black Old Squirrel was a fave. Bartenders. Super friendly and funny. Worth every penny and moment of my night.

So sad this place let me down. It impresses Sarah Jessica Parker and Andy Cohen, but sadly one of our entrees was inedible. The atmosphere is so cool. You walk down into a narrow restaurant with the bar on the left, and seating on the right. Dark, but feels intimate. To start, we shared the mushrooms. Very rich, but sweet from sherry. Not sure the egg yolk really adds anything, but a good dish. The skate. Too fishy to eat. Tasted like it was bad. And the peas with it were barely cooked. Couldn't finish it. The ink pasta was tasty. The mixture of meat with the umami pasta was perfect and unlike anything I'd had before. I'm sad that the skate was inedible. Otherwise I think I would have liked this place. Maybe we caught it on an off night

Our friends raved about this place and we of course were excited (and a bit skeptical at first) to try it. The concept: no menu + no lights + a few questions = the ultimate cocktail experience. The speakeasy vibe and the dark ambiance really makes this place feel even more exclusive. With just a few tables and the bar setting, you're in for an experience you won't forget (unless you answer the wrong questions and really end up with a drink you don't like HA). This wasn't my case. Of course I described my two favorite things: Negroni + mezcal. The obvious answer would be a mezcal Negroni, but that's not why one comes to a place like Attaboy. Our amazing curator came by to ask us all a few questions, write down a few words in the napkins, and mix up the perfect drink that our master bartender crafts, curates and creates. My drink came as I couldn't possibly imagine. It looked like a Negroni smelled like Oaxaca, with all the smoke simmering up and preparing my sensory experience, leading to the best first sip. Ladies and gentleman, I introduce you to The Devil's Backbone. A perfectly balanced drink I'll never forget, one that is sipped slowly and enjoyed thoroughly. It's sexy, it's smoky it's sipped. Attaboy gave the best mixology experience and we can't wait to be back. Pro tip: be sure to be as vocal as possible, even with ice, so you don't end up with a tiki drink if that's not your vibe.

If you're looking for one of the best Irish pubs in Lower Manhattan, The Dead Rabbit absolutely…read morelives up to the hype. Tucked into the Financial District, this spot blends old New York history with some of the best cocktails in the city--and it's easy to see why it's been named "World's Best Bar" more than once. The name itself has a wild backstory, inspired by a notorious 19th-century Irish-American gang from Five Points. It adds a layer of character to the place, but what really keeps people coming back is the atmosphere and the drinks. The space is split into two levels: a two lively, sawdust-floored Taprooms downstairs and a more refined Parlor upstairs if you're in the mood for a quieter, cocktail-focused experience. Drinks are the real highlight here. The Irish Coffee is widely considered one of the best in the world--rich, smooth, and perfectly balanced with whiskey, coffee, and fresh cream. They also get creative with variations like a frozen version and even an Irish Coffee martini. If you want something different, the "Act Naturally" is a standout, mixing Irish whiskey with Guinness and fig in a way that works. Food is just as impressive for a bar. The lobster deviled eggs (topped with caviar) are a must-try, and the menu leans into elevated comfort food. Overall, The Dead Rabbit nails the balance between historic charm and modern cocktail excellence. The D.R. is one of those places that is never boring and consistently delivers.

Serious attitude here. The cocktails were very tasty but the service and vibe were so off-putting,…read moreI will never go back. I made a reservation in person more than 24 hours in advance. I wanted to treat an old friend to a quick birthday toast before a show she was attending nearby. Later that night, another friend became available to join but, because they do not actually have a phone that takes calls (only offers an announcement to go to Resy or email) adding another person was not at all easy. I would have had to cancel and rebook and wasn't sure I'd be able to (reservation was for a Saturday night) In most places, a table for 3 easily accommodates 4. But not here. When two of us arrived, they made it clear this was a big problem. I would have walked out right then but I would have been charged $90! We decided to stay and make the best of it, which was a challenge. For a speakeasy, the vibe was aggressive, not relaxing. Very loud music and not great acoustics.) Too cramped to be comfortable, proving that small does not necessarily mean cozy! We asked if we could take a chair from the table next to us, which was empty (it was only 6 pm; I told our server we'd be gone by 7 because my friend, the birthday girl, had to catch a show.) We were told No! To say the waiter was cold, unfriendly, and indifferent is generous. He was totally rude. He literally told my friend she couldn't sit in a chair that was otherwise empty, knowing we'd be leaving momentarily. Then he had the gail to hand me the bill with a 22% tip pre-selected...and watched over me while I signed it! Definitely the least satisfying $100 I have ever spent. Disappointing. It was good to see my friends, but I so wish I hadn't picked this place. Never again.
