It felt like the perfect vacation drink. Overall, Tiki Iniki is a good pick if you want a casual meal, fun drinks, and a lively tiki-bar vibe. Indulge Your Taste Buds at the Newly Reimagined Hanalei Gourmet!…read more Tonight, we decided to check out the newly reopened Hanalei Gourmet, and what a fantastic experience! Under brand-new management as of just two weeks ago, this location has taken a completely fresh approach. Don't be misled by older Yelp reviews attached to the previous incarnation; the new team has introduced an open, airy atmosphere and a elevated menu centered around fresh, high-quality ingredients. A quick heads-up for prospective diners: they are still in the process of finalizing their liquor license. However, they make BYOB seamless! You can easily grab a bottle across the street at the market or down the road at the liquor store , and the staff will gladly set you up at the table for a very reasonable $5-per-person corkage fee. We picked up a bottle of Joel Gott Chardonnay nearby, which paired beautifully with our meal. As for the food, the presentation and taste were outstanding: Catch of the Day (Marlin): Macadamia-crusted to perfection and served with a subtle, light curry sauce, accompanied by fresh vegetables and rice. Perfectly cooked and full of tropical flavor. Chicken & Vegetable Soup: A rich, comforting bowl packed with fresh veggies, served alongside a warm, crusty roll. The new management has truly transformed this space into a bright, welcoming spot. Five stars all around--we will definitely be returning! the liquor store across the street. Our waiter, Josh, was amazing. We talked through the menu before we ordered and he told us about every dish that was on the menu not only did he provide a great review of the dishes before we ordered, but he actually inspired us to try the catch of the day as he had seen the fish brought in that morning from the ocean. He was a very good server, constantly checking on us making sure that our water glasses were full and that we were having a good dining experience.

The Churro French Toast is life changing. Full order can easily feed 3-4 people. Crispy, sweet, yet soft and tasty inside. Best description is a combination of a churro, mixed with a cinnamon roll, mixed with a donut. Would highly recommend. They offer a half portion too which is great for 2 people to share. The breakfast burritos are legit. Massive, tasty, delicious, and filling. About the same size and width as a 32oz Yeti bottle. Ordered the veggie burrito with bacon and the Smoked Pork burrito. Loved both. Tots, veggies, cheese, meat, all loaded. Even the salsas were 10/10. Seating is limited, maybe enough for 8-10 people total to sit inside, but they take to go orders and you can walk 5 minutes to Hanalei beach and eat by the ocean. TLDR - Try it, you won't be disappointed.

The shrimp was cooked to perfection: juicy, tender, and coated in the most delicious garlic sauce. Every bite was so flavorful! The Churros French Toast was actually one of the reasons we came here because it's so popular, and it absolutely did not disappoint! It looks like it would be super sweet, but surprisingly, it's not. It's perfectly crunchy on the outside, moist in the middle, and just the right amount of sweetness. So delicious! And to top it all off, you get to enjoy this fantastic food with a beautiful Kauai view. Overall, such a wonderful experience. If you're visiting Kauai, I highly recommend putting Wake Up Delicious on your list you won't be disappointed!

I would say that I'm really only giving 4.5 stars instead of 5 because for me this amount of food is very light, although my husband did better with the steak. If you're really hungry, the portions here can be very small. Other than that, it was a delightful dinner. The chef used to work at Nobu and it really tastes like it. We ate early at 5:00 because that's all that was open for a reservation, yet we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. That's also just a bit strange. I think dining here when it's dark and candlelit would be more romantic, but I enjoyed looking around at the little house and its design and the beautiful garden surrounding it while we waited for them to open. It's also interesting to read about the history of the house and its site (it's a carefully built replica of the old original house that was here in the 1860's built by a Chinese immigrant rice farmer. Anyway, very charming. I think I'll call next time to try to get a later dinner reservation. This was one of our favorites on the trip. Service, was , of course, fast and the waiter was really nice and friendly.

How is it that I have never reviewed my favorite Sushi Bar on and off island? Yikes!…read more I'm fortunate to live on island and make every opportunity to get my sushi fix here. This place has the freshest and most well prepared sushi, sashimi and "omakase" (chefs choice original roll). Omakase is ALWAYS out of this world no matter which chef came up with that nights special. The fish is always super fresh so they don't need to drown it in sauces. The flavors pop pop pop with every chew. Amazing! Some of my favorites are the scallop sashimi (incredibly fresh every time), chili hamachi, uni (sea urchin-not for everyone) and always omakase roll or two. Also, if artichoke is in season I like the steamed one, a cup of chowder always hits the spot, pretty killer tempura, really great fish and chips and I know I'm missing a bunch of stuff but now I'm salivating and need to wrap this review up so I can drive over. I don't eat in the restaurant part so much but that's because I'm a total hound for the sushi. When I have it's always great. Don't skip dessert!
