    Fish and chips

This place has the best seafood I have ever eaten in my life! Seriously! It's so good! We arrived when there was 30 minutes left of happy hour so we ordered calamari! Wow! That was DELICIOUS! I didn't get a pic because it was gone so fast! Then for dinner I ordered the fish and chips (fish was Ono), one of my daughter's ordered the monchong fish, and my other daughter ordered the sunset sushi roll. All three of us were very satisfied with our choices! Have I said delicious yet? And we sat outside near the Hanalei Heritage River...so beautiful! If I find myself back in Kauai I will be back again and I will recommend to all. And our waiter Nick was awesome...so personable and attentive!

A family-owned spot in downtown Hanalei for 30+ years. Arrive early to put your name on the list - they gave us a buzzer and we walked around to the neighboring businesses while we waited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated on the covered patio, overlooking their lawn and the Hanalei River.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was straightforward and good, but what we liked the most was our server. I sadly don't recall her name but she was a young girl who grew up in Hanalei and clearly has passion for food and for service. She knew the menu and spoke confidently about it, and shared little anecdotes along the way - she was attentive, informative, joyful, and yet not intrusive. A shining service star. The mixed tempura starter was tasty. The salad was a plate of fresh veggies - fresh but basic in presentation and flavor. I personally might skip this next time. We really enjoyed the daily special of soba noodles with yuzu sauce. Bright and citrusy. And the sushi rolls we enjoyed were clean in flavor with a focus on the fresh fish: -Next Best Thing -Hamachi -Avocado roll Another friend said that she orders the sushi rolls to go. And she also told me about their neighboring fish market, if you want to get fish to make at home (we did not have time to check that out). To cap our our meal, we shared a piece of the Homemade Dolphine Ice Cream Pie and it was decadently delicious!

    Seafood Chowder

A highlight of our trip for sure. The absolute best Ahi sashimi we have had in our life! It just melted in our mouths. The mug of seafood chowder was delicious too and paired perfectly with the sashimi. Be sure to stop in the fish market around the back. Great staff too! An absolute must if you are visiting the island of Kauai.

Been spending a lot of time on Kauai this past year and one of our favorite places to stop by and grab some sushi rolls is the Dolphin, not the main restaurant but the fish market on the backside of the restaurant. They have a nice assortment of fresh seafood, pok'e, rolls, and cuts by the pound. We usually get a couple rolls and share them, really like their spicy ahi and spicy salmon rolls. Fish is always super fresh and they are filling for sure. They also have some artisan products for sale like sauces, jellies, pasta, and nuts...a lot more as well. Definitely recommend here but come early, rolls often sell out quick.

I had the lobster and scallops, firecracker sushi and shrimp tempura it was all so delicious. Waitress was excellent celebrated my birthday by giving me a bowl of icecream. with my fudge brownie. I forgot her name but being a former waitress i am super impressed that she handled her busy section flawlessly!

Love the Dolphin and come here whenever I'm on the island. An absolute must. Friendly service, fun vibes, great food. The Flyin' Hawaiian with SEARED hamachi (ask for it seared it makes a difference) is THE BEST SUSHI ROLL I'VE EVER HAD. I ordered 3 last time. Truly incredible. All the nigiri I've had there is wonderful and I love the seafood chowder, miso soup, and the edamame with sesame oil. The Unagi hand roll is delicious. No notes.

Cute place with a pretty outdoor seating, came here for dinner when we were on the island and had the monchong grilled fish - it was a pretty big size and was delicious. Service was just okay.

10/28/24 Must have passed by this tiny shop more than a couple dozen times-never knew it was here!!…read more The reviews were pretty accurate about its size, perhaps a room/space for 3-4 maximum (if you're all related & fairly intimate enough to share the personal space). It has a refrigerated showcase/display that features their array of delectable delights. The cacao is grown about10 minutes away from the shop & a picture hangs on the wall (see photo) of the lady, Ms. Mitchell, who makes all the chocolates. This is according to Debra, the lady tending to the shop. I had my heart set on (3 piece @ $7.00) Dark & Stormy plus the 70% Cacao Truffle Turtles (3 piece for $8.50, unless I mixed up the prices). One for the road, Coffee Drop, &2.75 per piece just to try. It was very good, smooth, not overly sweet but I could not detect the coffee taste, but it was quite delectable. Imagine the dimensions of 8 x 8 ft of a shop, the display case at the center towards the back a tad. If you're facing the case, another display case (shelf, no refrigerated) will be on your left with cacao nibs packages. There's a metal bench in front of the shop under the awning of the structure. Debra was personable & attentive. She mentioned that the hours have changed to 12 noon to 5 pm daily. Additionally, she said they've expanded the shop about a square foot recently. I love supporting local businesses & this place gets the thumbs up. FYI, keep the treats cold, they're delicate, or eat them quickly--no problem there. Hahaha Luckily we have a cooler in the car to keep them chilled.

This definitely is a place to visit to try chocolate! Truffles - the outside has a crunchy perfect shell - and the inside of the truffle is very soft and melts in your mouth.
