It isn't the beaches. It isn't the mountains. It isn't the world class, lush, green scenery and weather. I'm convinced people spend $3.5 million dollars on a house in Hanalei for one reason: chocolate macadamia nut scones. I should be apologizing for to the locals around me who are coming for their daily bread. The lines are long - rightfully so - but anticipation isn't built quickly. Block off your morning for this. Hanalei Bread Company will be the reason why I waste my retirement savings and my children's college fund for a 1/6 ownership in a condo I can't afford. Surely they can't do bread AND great coffee. Bury me in property taxes too. The macchiato (there's only one kind) was perfectly creamy, strong, and served in a perfectly sized 3 oz cup. Don't leave the island without coming here. And then don't leave the island to keep coming here. read more

Overall pretty mid for me. The line moved steadily but was still a bit of a wait. We got two lattes and they were super basic, definitely wouldn't come here just for the coffee. I got the Fancy Toast with salmon and it had a TON of salmon, but I couldn't really taste any of the other ingredients. The pastrami sandwich was a little greasy but a good portion. We also tried the cinnamon and strawberries & cream pastries, which were good but nothing crazy. Maybe I'm spoiled coming from LA, but it tasted like any other coffee shop to me. Not bad, just not worth the wait and probably wouldn't come back. read more

Some of the best food in the area! Got in line at 8:30 AM on a Friday. The line moved pretty fast and I had food in hand by 8:45. Turkey club sandwich was perfect, and I loved the seasonal fruit bowl. Pineapple mango turnover was also good. read more

Hanalei Bread Co. was exactly the kind of breakfast stop we were hoping for on the North Shore: fresh, relaxed, and easy to enjoy before a day around Hanalei. I got a fruit/granola bowl topped with banana, strawberries, and blueberries, and it was bright, fresh, and really satisfying without feeling too heavy. The fruit tasted vibrant, the granola added a good crunch, and the whole bowl felt like the right Kauaʻi breakfast--simple, colorful, and made for eating outside. The atmosphere was casual and welcoming, with that laid-back Hanalei feel. It's a great spot if you want coffee, pastries, or a fresh breakfast before heading to the beach, exploring town, or driving back toward Princeville. Would definitely recommend stopping here early in the day. It feels like one of those places that fits the rhythm of Hanalei perfectly. read more

The line is always long if you arrive past 8am. I visited this place a few times while visiting Kauai. I got addicted to the waffle. One time I got there close to 9am and it was sold out. You order and sit outside or take to go. I've tried some sandwiches. Everything was so good and fresh. The staff was also very nice. read more

I came here because I thought it was going to be good from what I saw on TikTok, but I ordered a breakfast burrito that was all made of super sharp cheddar cheese, huge pieces of potato and egg. Missing the roasted peppers, onion and cilantro. I also ordered a cinnamon roll that had like no cinnamon, it was frosted bread. Super bummed. read more

This place was mentioned on quite a few Kauai itineraries and I understand why. Its nice establishment across the street from the Ching Young Village. They closed at 1230 so we got there around 11. Unfortunately, by that time most of the baked goods were gone. There was one blueberry muffin left and it tasted great! I also ordered a tropical smoothie and it tasted so fresh and refreahing! My friends ordered avocado toast; it looked great and was told it was just as good. There had to be at least two avocados a plate. Great place and a must visit when in Kauai! read more

Great service, incredible food. Staff deserves a raise after what I saw while I patiently waited 45 minutes for my takeout order. I sipped some espresso while I waited and it was very smooth. Food was so worth the wait too, I ordered 3 sandwiches and the bread was thick yet fluffy. We devoured every bite. Please be kind and patient, this is a busy place! read more

This place is definitely popular for a reason! It's very cute with good food and great pastries. Pricey but the servings are huge. Breakfast burrito was great. Yogurt bowl was mid at best. I can make a better one at home (skip that). Blueberry poptart was pretty comm good too! Worth the stop but be ready for wait times! read more

Waited all week to give this place a try outside of the coffee. They do have extremely das service. Everyone is very nice and friendly. The decor and feel of the place fits the Hanalei vibes for sure and it's great that it's open seating indoor and outdoor. The coffee is great! I got the Cold Brew both times. The food is great. Nothing absolutely spectacular but it is very fresh. The bread on the sandwiches is light and fluffy. I had a Rueben, a Breakfast burrito and the fancy toast with Gluten Free Bread (just to try it). The Gluten free bread is amazing and some days they have gluten free banana bread which was just amazing! All the food is fresh and tasty with great flavor profiles. I highly suggest this place when visiting! read more

The line goes fast, seating can be limited but if you're patient a spot will open up. I only wanted to comment on the macadamia nut and banana bread and I made this Kauai visit determined to find the best banana nut bread. 11/10 and this includes spots in Kapaa and Lihue. Didn't find much in Poipu but if you have a recommendation I'm all ears. The market next door is pretty good too if you'd like to compare. Plenty of aloha service too! Cheers read more

We went here several times for breakfast during our stay in North Kauai, and it quickly became one of our favorite morning spots. Over a few visits, we tried the avocado toast, apple ricotta toast, peanut butter banana toast, breakfast burritos, mocha, latte, and tropical smoothie -- everything was consistently good. My personal favorites: the tropical smoothie (so fresh and vibrant), the breakfast burrito (the salsa on the side is surprisingly amazing), and the apple ricotta toast -- sweet, rich, and definitely one to share. And of course, a mocha to end the meal. Highly recommend starting your day here if you're in Hanalei. Just a heads up -- lines can get long when placing your order at the counter. Food is brought out to your table, but you'll need to pick up your drinks at the smoothie/coffee counter. read more

Delicious food in paradise! Had the breakfast sandwich -large portion and tasty! Had a little bit of a wait but worth it!

Review 100 Not great. I ordered a latte and the breakfast burrito. The coffee was very weak -- it tasted more like milk than coffee. The burrito was okay; it was mostly potatoes and by the end it felt heavy. It really could have used some meat. However the service was good and the place has a fantastic view of the Kauai mountains. read more

A beautiful and bustling spot in a little shopping center with a lot of pretty stores right by Hanalei Bay. Service was friendly, and food came out pretty quickly. The Matcha Latte with vanilla bean syrup was really good, and the mango and guava pastry was delicious, flaky, and not too sweet but the sandwich fell flat for me. Not bad, but in my opinion way too much bread, super thick slices compared to the filling the filling and I found it to be pretty bland, especially considering it's expensive. Definitely swing by for a drink a pastries though if you're in the north shore area. read more

Had breakfast here, food was decent, the menu somewhat limited. I had the breakfast burrito and had them add bacon, which it desperately needed, it lacked salt. Service was polite and friendly and there are only outdoor tables. This was OK, but those darned Hawaii chickens were everywhere. Not the restaurant's fault, but takes away from the experience. read more

The line looks long but moves quickly, and service at the register is fine. I ordered a Kona coffee black ($7), but they had run out and offered a substitute ($5) or the option to wait. I went with the substitute and did not realize until later that the price difference was never refunded. The coffee was fine. The acai bowl was excellent though, topped with fresh fruit and good honey, and something I would definitely order again. read more

The food was awful. Service even more so. Brekkie bread was so dry and the cheese not melted. Coffee is not as good as Wishing Well. Everyone threw theirs out. But the service is downright rude. Say thank you and get not even a smile back. When I tried to return the sandwich one girl said to other just get it over with. When I confronted her on it she just got more rude. $100 for 3 people. What a waste.i don't recommend. read more

We came here for breakfast on the way to Hanalei Pier. Should have grabbed it to go. The good: They have a great outdoor area to eat. We had the Avocado toast, Peanut Butter and Banana and a Fancy toast. All of these were yummy. The bad: we also ordered and paid for a couple pastries which were forgotten by the staff. Thankfully, when I asked the person who delivered our toasts, she chalked it up to a new person behind the register and packed up our pastries to go. Coffee was good enough and they have a variety of creams and sweeteners, including non dairy options. read more

Can't speak for the coffee but we did get the breakfast burrito, toast, and tropical smoothie which were all very delicious! Breakfast Burrito: the portion on this was specifically HUGE. If you're crazy hungry in the AM, this is definitely an item that will fill you up. Tropical Smoothie was delicious as it was nourishing. Toast: the serving of the salmon on the toast along with Arugala was perfect. Overall the service was great, the workers were pleasant and very vibrant. Food came out with not too long of a wait and plenty of areas to sit inside and out. The only knock I have is the prices. Pretty up there for a breakfast food but was still a great experience. read more

On our trip to Hanalei Bay, we had to stop by for coffee somewhere. This was the somewhere. Easy to park, easy to access, and easy to drink/eat. It's kind of an open-air shop with plenty of options to order, but we just wanted something small. The employee at the register was patient, and waited for us to decide on our two drinks and a mac nut banana bread. After we ordered, we sat down outside and munched on the bread while we waited on the coffee. The bread itself was soft, moist, and full of flavor! This was quite good, so if you come here, consider it! The coffee came out a little later, and I just remember it being a little less tasty than I had had on the island previously in the trip. It wasn't anything to write home about, but it also wasn't bad. Very middle of the ground coffee, but that's alright. I still enjoyed my time here, and I'd come back just for the bread! read more

Stopped here for some coffee and a snack. It is a very busy place with some "inside" seating and covered picnic tables out front. We ordered a Strawberry muffin, Immune booster smoothie and a latte for hubby for a mid morning snack. The smoothie was good, but maybe a little too much pepper/ginger for me - it left a little throat burn. The sandwiches and other items we saw looked fantastic as well - if we had more time, I would have loved to try them for lunch. read more

While dining at Bar Acuda, we were told the Hanalei Bread Company is an awesome place for breakfast. We headed there today and it didn't disappoint. Any restaurant with 10-20 people in line constantly is a good indicator its food is worth the wait. I really appreciate a restaurant that tells you your order is made from scratch, so don't expect it to come out fast. The Breakfast Burrito and Croissant Sandwich were both incredible, and super-sized. We have breakfast covered for tomorrow. read more

When I travel, I try to only go places once so that I can try as much as I can - pastries were so great; we came back twice. What we got: Chai spice smoothie was very unique and I craved it almost every day during our recent trip. The snickerdoodle cookie danish is the perfect pastry - not overbearingly sweet, yet curbs my sweet tooth, well balanced, and still soft and tasty the next morning. Breakfast burrito comes in a very generous portion and is filled with perfectly cooked and seasoned eggs & potatoes. Second day: we got the strawberry sugar roll. Not as mind blowing as the snickerdoodle cookie danish, but still extremely flavorful & fresh. Atmosphere: Very clean with a reasonably sized, open air dining area. We got here very early and were lucky to have options for where to sit. Service: Mm..yeah..just come for the snickerdoodle cookie danish. It wasn't bad service, just very dismissive and slightly below standard. read more

One of the most beautiful areas on the island and one of the best breakfasts I had!!! Firstly this place can get BUSY with not a lot of seating so be prepared. It's fast paced so you'll definitely end up finding somewhere if you wait. Just look at the food pics holy moly. The club sandwich was clubbbbbbing that was the fattest sandwich I've ever seen in my life and totally worth it. I got the fancy toast which was delicious. Even the available bowl came out quick and was equally as delicious!! The coffees were amazing and gulped down. The staff are all really nice. We got lucky and all pastries were 50% so we grabbed a banana bread too which was gone so quickly I didn't even take a photo. My only issue is how rude the customers are omg. Everyone around us felt the need to be so entitled. But nothing to do with the restaurant just be aware they will ruin your breakfast slightly! Such a wonderful area to spend the morning at. Ample of shopping and parking and it was just a lovely morning minus the senior citizens that thought they owned the place!! Booo. read more

Great place to swing by if you are in the area. They serve breakfast and is about the only coffee house that is open early hours. Was looking for a place that serve açaí bowls and this is where Yelp took us. It's in the cute town of Hanalei. Be ready for a slight wait as this place is always busy but moves steadily.
