Waited all week to give this place a try outside of the coffee. They do have extremely das service. Everyone is very nice and friendly. The decor and feel of the place fits the Hanalei vibes for sure and it's great that it's open seating indoor and outdoor. The coffee is great! I got the Cold Brew both times. The food is great. Nothing absolutely spectacular but it is very fresh. The bread on the sandwiches is light and fluffy. I had a Rueben, a Breakfast burrito and the fancy toast with Gluten Free Bread (just to try it). The Gluten free bread is amazing and some days they have gluten free banana bread which was just amazing! All the food is fresh and tasty with great flavor profiles. Had breakfast here, food was decent, the menu somewhat limited. I had the breakfast burrito and had them add bacon, which it desperately needed, it lacked salt. Service was polite and friendly and there are only outdoor tables. This was OK, but those darned Hawaii chickens were everywhere. We visited Hanalei Bread Company while on vacation in Kauai. The food was good, but the customer service was disappointing from start to finish. The staff came across as short, unfriendly, and annoyed that customers were even there. This is already an expensive place to eat, and it's a walk-up counter service restaurant where customers order and handle much of the process themselves. After paying, I chose not to leave a tip, and the employee sarcastically said, "Thanks for the tip." That comment was rude, unnecessary, and incredibly unprofessional. Tipping should be earned through good service and appreciated when given -- not expected or used to shame customers. Tourists and locals spending money there are the reason businesses like this stay open, and a little appreciation and basic courtesy would go a long way. Good food, but the attitude of the staff completely changed the experience and makes it hard to recommend. read more

Not bad, but in my opinion way too much bread, super thick slices compared to the filling the filling and I found it to be pretty bland, especially considering it's expensive. On our trip to Hanalei Bay, we had to stop by for coffee somewhere. This was the somewhere. Easy to park, easy to access, and easy to drink/eat. It's kind of an open-air shop with plenty of options to order, but we just wanted something small. The employee at the register was patient, and waited for us to decide on our two drinks and a mac nut banana bread. After we ordered, we sat down outside and munched on the bread while we waited on the coffee. The bread itself was soft, moist, and full of flavor! This was quite good, so if you come here, consider it! The coffee came out a little later, and I just remember it being a little less tasty than I had had on the island previously in the trip. Any restaurant with 10-20 people in line constantly is a good indicator its food is worth the wait. One of the most beautiful areas on the island and one of the best breakfasts I had!!! Firstly this place can get BUSY with not a lot of seating so be prepared. It's fast paced so you'll definitely end up finding somewhere if you wait. Just look at the food pics holy moly. The club sandwich was clubbbbbbing that was the fattest sandwich I've ever seen in my life and totally worth it. I got the fancy toast which was delicious. Was looking for a place that serve açaí bowls and this is where Yelp took us. It's in the cute town of Hanalei. Be ready for a slight wait as this place is always busy but moves steadily. 10/29/24 Great stop in Hanalei for light breakfast, java & pastries, Hanalei Bread/Co Roasters. Once again, dropping by to get a bag of beans for my boss. At around 9 am, we must've just missed the morning rush. I was the only one in line at first. I ordered an oat milk latte, espresso muffin and a bag of beans for the boss. My drink was ready in no time & I found a seat facing Ching Lung. Within minutes a table opened up & grabbed that one. My hot oat milk latte was pretty good, it tasted more milk than coffee. The muffin was moist but mediocre at best-- Hubby enjoyed it though. I was hoping it would taste more coffee-like. Staff were friendly & responsive. What more could you ask for? Sit & sip, let the chickens grub around your feet, watch people, I am on vacation. We parked by the old school a few doors down. October is ideal if you want to relax & be low key. We came here for breakfast on the way to Hanalei Pier. Should have grabbed it to go. The good: They have a great outdoor area to eat. We had the Avocado toast, Peanut Butter and Banana and a Fancy toast. All of these were yummy. The bad: we also ordered and paid for a couple pastries which were forgotten by the staff. Thankfully, when I asked the person who delivered our toasts, she chalked it up to a new person behind the register and packed up our pastries to go. We went at 8am on a Sunday, and they had a sign saying they ran out of biscuits and scones. They also had a sign saying smoothie bar closed, no bowls and no smoothies. The most absurd aspect of this restaurant is that they allow the local homeless people to get in line and harass customers. Felt like I was back in Los Angeles for a moment. At any rate, there's about 10 other (better) options within a 1/2 mile radius. Hanalei Bread Company is an absolute gem! Service here is warm, friendly, and incredibly quick -- you can really feel the genuine Aloha spirit from the team. Their açaí bowls are the best value I've found on the island: generously portioned, topped with plenty of fresh fruit, and unlike most other places, they don't nickel-and-dime you for extra toppings. The fruit is always fresh, vibrant, and perfectly balances the bowls. On top of that, they provide free cold water (a rare but much-appreciated touch when you're out exploring Hanalei!) and the restrooms on the side are clean and well-kept, which makes the whole stop super convenient. OMG, gluten-free bread and yes! Excellent! So I made it a point to come here because of reviews. I was specifically looking for gluten-free banana bread. We were greeted by a pleasant and patient young lady and the first thing I asked her was about the bread. She let us know that that is not something that they do on a daily. And apparently you can't request it to be made to be picked up at another time which I think they should do. Another employee came up to interject and added that the ingredients are sometimes hard to get because they use fresh ingredients. In my mind all I see is you make the banana bread like the original which they had you just use gluten-free flour. But I'm not a baker so maybe there's more to it. Anyway, I ordered a gluten-free BLT at $16 And when I tell you, that was a thick sandwich with thick gluten-free bread I'm not exaggerating. That was the best gluten-free sandwich at a restaurant that I've had in a decade. Everything was fresh from the cheese to the lettuce to the bacon and tomato. My husband had a club sandwich at $17 which was also stuffed full of fresh ingredients and flavorful. We ordered two fresh squeezed orange juices at $6 each. I think they were 8 ounce cups and you can definitely taste that they were fresh! That was the best orange juice I've had in a long, long time. Because you can't even get a good sweet orange in the store nowadays. So they pulled it off somebody's tree! Lol. The restaurant is its own building with open air and outside seating. I was pleasantly shocked to see that a BREAD COMPANY offered a homemade gluten free bread option. Such a treat! It's a thicker/denser slice (think bread loaf) more than normal bread but it was still honestly delicious and made great avocado toast as well as a breakfast sandwich when we came back the next day.
