One of the places we miss most since leaving Columbia county is feast and floret. We most enjoy dining on great, creative quality dishes in a welcoming, thoughtful setting. This area in general is a super easy and fun trip from NYC. Feast and Floret was the absolute perfect spot for a nice dinner after a day of exploring. The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance. I would travel to visit it simply because of how gorgeous it is. The staff were all lovely. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The chicken Milanese was great. It probably could have used a few extras (maybe some tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle) but the chicken was great. The pasta special was flavorful- somewhat of a smaller portion if you're used to a typical NYC Italian spot. Get an app if you grab a pasta dish (carrots w lemon zest were awesome) The olive oil cake is great. (Coffees were great too!) Perfect way to end the meal. This place is really pretty on the inside and the outside. We got a table outside while it was raining. It was perfectly covered and there was a heater on the ceiling. We ordered several different dishes. (I took pictures. Everyone loved their meals and the portions sizes were great. I ordered their tuna special for the day. It was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed a flavorful, beautifully presented meal at Feast and Floret while sitting on their patio garden. I ordered two of the specials: tuna crudo with chili oil, and cavatelli with pork rags. The balance of flavors in the tuna dish was fantastic, and I was pleasantly surprised to try a non-tomato based ragu. Both dishes were so good that I made another reservation for the next night. This time, I tried the "melt in your mouth" meatballs, and the buccatelli with a tomato, guanciale, garlic sauce. I was seating in their main dining room that had a very Tuscan ambiance. So glad we were able to dine at Feast and Floret while in Hudson. We attempted to get dinner on a Saturday and called that day for a reservation but it was booked (good sign!) so we went back the next day for lunch. The entire experience was amazing and did not disappoint, I truly cannot think of many dining experiences that have come close. The ambience is beautiful, the space is covered in both dried and fresh flowers (they operate a working flower stand) and everything from the decor to the seats to the fresh flowers on the table was lovely. The hostesses were both very welcoming and accommodating in assisting me purchasing a bouquet at the end of the meal (during a very busy lunch run no less). Our waiter was friendly, attentive and very knowledgeable of the menu. We opted for the burrata, meatballs, Brussels sprouts for appetizers and for the mains we went with two specials: pan seared halibut with cauliflower purée and kale, and homemade pappardelle with broccolini and chili flakes. Everything was delicious but the pasta and halibut were truly outstanding. It was honestly some of the best pasta I've ever had. The halibut was cooked perfectly, seasoned just with salt but had SO much flavor, and it paired very well with the cauliflower which had more of a zing to it. We were disappointed in the burrata because whatever vegetable came with it tasted incredibly smoky, as did the bread, so that took over the flavor, however zero complaints about this place. The flat breads are burned to the core that it might not be safe to eat. They add some extra charges. My food was $57. After adding the tips/tax, came out to $80. So, please check your Bill. My only complaint is that our server informed us that the pasta portions are small, "like they would be in Italy at a three course meal. I spend many summers in Italy". Her statement is correct except that for the price of one of their small pasta portions I would get a full three course meal in Italy. 25.- for a small portion of tagliatelle bolognese is not appropriate. I understand that they have plenty of customers who want to spend a lot of money on food, which is ok, but just don't make this comparison to the way Italians serve a meal. The warm, welcoming and flower filled space, the friendly and knowledgeable service and most of all, the FOOD! I started with the Puntarelle salad. A little piece of Europe in Hudson! The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with cozy fireplaces and dried flowers. A perfect setting for a date night or to celebrate any special occasion. The service was outstanding. Our server Emma made thoughtful suggestions and was very attentive. Our water glasses were full at all times, the table was cleaned after each course, and service was timely but not rushed despite the restaurant having to turn down customers. The food was great, although the portions were pretty small considering the price. The dishes are pretty simple but well executed and it's evident that the kitchen only uses the best ingredients. Our favorite dishes: The butternut squash arancini were very crispy, lightly sweet, and offered a great combination of texture. The mushroom pasta was very buttery and the large fresh mushrooms were delicious. The brussels sprouts were an excellent side dish - very crispy and chockfull of flavor. Also love that they offer a wide variety of daily specials. The artichoke crab bruschetta was great; although the toast was sliced a bit too thick making the bread overpower the other flavors of the dish. The duck special was also good but we expected this dish to be served warm. Finally, the olive oil cake was good but something you can easily whip up at home. This dish would benefit from an original touch. Food was excellent, definitely five star, but portions were a huge disappointment. Entree's were more like an appetizer portion. I had the Tagliatelle which took about 3 minutes to finish, maybe five or six forkfuls and no I don't eat quickly. My wife had the gnocchi, which was equally as small a portion so no sharing! Another disappointment was that no bread was served. Made to feel unwelcome. This used to be our favourite restaurant and we would tell people it was the best in town, visiting about a half dozen times a year, (usually for special occasions), but we're thinking that we should stop because we're consistently made to feel unwelcome. Always dining early with a reservation of 5 or 5:15pm, for 3-4 people, we are invariably shown to the back and worst table in the restaurant facing into the kitchen, while other tables by windows, fireplaces, or literally surrounded by flowers, (the restaurant also sells beautiful flowers), sit vacant. -- If we ask for another table, an awkward confrontation with the host ensues, with their frustration at our request made palpable. On our last visit when this played out for at least the 4th or 5th time, we were not only we shown to a near identical "Siberian" location in the opposite room, but then watched as other tables near the front stay empty for nearly an hour until they filled up after 6pm. One four top was even given to a couple, when our group (four) was shown past it nearly half an hour before. And remember, we had a reservation. What is behind this policy of seating that seemly goes out of its way to make us feel inferior and unwanted? What's wrong with me and my party readers may wonder, and believe me, we wonder that too. Our bills aren't small, our tips 25%. We're not rowdy or smelly or particularly ugly, but one can't help but doubt one's self when this is how you're treated. We loved the food, and the rest of the service, but a fist-come, first-serve common sense seating policy would pair a lot better with the meal. read more

Feast and Floret has been on our list for a long time. We booked weeks out to get a table and it didn't disappoint. Starting from the moment you walk up, the service is impeccable. Though we had to wait for our reservation the hostess was attentive and checked on us with updates. We had no issues waiting as the ambience was plenty to enjoy while we waited, they have a delightful outdoor patio enclosed by green plants. We ultimately sat inside, where again the decor was gorgeous. Flowers everywhere. And our drinks reflected the floral feel -- everything with light and refreshing. But of course, the star was the food. Pay attention to the specials! They had multiple specials that we took advantage of from a crisp scallop crudo to a light beet salad. We never ordered an entree and just enjoyed small plates. The grilled flatbread with honey ricotta was excellent and the charred nectarine and cucumber salad was delicious -- the right amount of crunch and sweetness. Even at 8 PM it was busy; but our food still came out quickly. We finished with the afogato. Would return and highly recommend. read more
