Trio with Cod, grilled shrimp, and salmon
Noah S.

Updating my review of FD Grillhouse in Springfield. I have enjoyed this experience, service was great, food could use more seasoning, but the prices are more than reasonable. I'd definitely give it a third try after this experience.

For what this place is, it's a good place, good value and an overall good experience. I always say...this place and Cheddars...you get an entree...which is easily at least $4 more anywhere else. And this place gives you an ample portion size. Food is overall always good. Are these the greatest stuffed and grilled shrimp I've ever had? Well no....but they also have a $15.95 price point and come with two sides. And....overall, the food has a very good taste....despite (not) being colossal sized shrimp.

We used the waitlist and only waited about 5-10 minutes versus the 30-40 on a Saturday evening. The fried pickles are a must. Perfect flavoring, the coating was great. Ranch was nice compliment. I've had the ribs, the salmon, and the chicken fingers. The chicken fingers are great, cooked well and flavorful. Not too dry or greasy. The cole slaw is one of my fav sides. Not too much vinegar, great balance and consistency. The salmon is also good if looking for something healthier. The broccoli didn't have much flavor so definitely on the healthy side. Great meal. Great service. Recommend.

Grilled Shrimp, Chicken Tenders, Fresh North Atlantic Salmon with fries and buttered corn as the sides

This place was amazing!! My fiancé and I stopped here on our way back home from our getaway weekend and it was extremely busy, but we got attended almost right away and received our food almost right away as well. As an appetizer I had the Crispy Pickles, which are lightly fried pickles served with house buttermilk and the Triple Dip, which included black bean dip, homemade queso blanco and fresh salsa with warm tortilla chips. If I could have just the crispy pickles as my main dish I most definitely would!! For the main dish I had their FD's Trio, you can pick any 3 main dishes out of 6! I had the Chicken Tenders, Grilled Shrimp, and the Fresh North Atlantic Salmon. When the plates arrived, it looked very presentable, but it didn't look like it was enough to get me filled up... I... was wrong. I had about three bites in and I was full!!! I was disappointed in myself because the food was so amazing!! And we weren't even close to being back home, but the food so was soo good we took it to go. If you ever find yourself in Springfield, MO and are looking for a restaurant with good lighting, decent prizes, and the most amazing food, I 100% recommend FD's Grillhouse!!!

Keylime pie

I selected this restaurant from an online search as we do not live in Springfield. The menu and the environment looked really nice. Wow - apparently everyone in Springfield feels the same way! The line was out the door! Good thing we used Yelp to get on the waiting list. Service was quick and friendly. Their house salad was unlike anything - delicious glazed walnuts, and green apple slices and sweet cornbread croutons were a fun surprise. My husband got the combo of battered chicken, cod, and grilled salmon with fries. All absolutely delicious. The batter was unique - light, crispy, and has somewhat of a cornmeal texture. I got the fish tacos. Came out as a fish burrito - not exactly what I expected, but still nice. The Keylime pie is a must try. It was the most tart Keylime pie we had ever had. When we travel back through Springfield, we will return.

The sirloin was tough and overcooked and the French fries were undercooked. The broccoli was very good and service was good.

We loved the different places to sit and it had lots of TV's for watching games. Our waiter started out pretty good but that's where it stopped. It took almost 30 minutes to get two burgers. No one bothered to refill our water or see if we needed another drink. Asked a few times right after our food arrived about how things were tasting but paid zero attention to the drinks. And then we continued to wait....gave up on any more drinks and finally went to the bar to get our ticket. The longer we waited the more disappointed we became. Now to be fair, our server was also the bartender. Not that the bar was really slammed.... Even so, you would think that the manager would come around and help. But he did not. And he knew this was our first time coming there. So at the end he asks what we thought. We said it was overall ok. The food tasted good but the services were lacking. He made an excuse and told us to come back again and they would take good care of us. First off, they won't remember us. And if you barely acknowledged the experience we had tonight, WHY would we come back??? I would give the food around 4 stars but the service a 2 and our overall experience a 3.

Enter The Grotto west coast food. Since I lived on the west coast for 40 years I thought it was appropriate that I come to judge the West coast authenticity. This place is awesome. My friend had a Baja bowl that looked and smelled divine and I had the steak Gorgonzola salad, the meat portion was huge and the candied pecans were delicious. I might even bring my super judgmental west coast rude family here since I think even they would be pleased at how delicious the food was. We sat in a comfy booth and loved every bite of our meal, the balsamic vinaigrette was the perfect complement to the savory steak and sweet pecans. I can't wait to go back to the grotto

I got the caesar salad on the side and that was actually better than the sandwich, I should have gotten that as my meal instead of the side, it was MUCH better than the sandwich. Fiancé picked the burger and he was pleased with it, he said he would come back for it, so maybe just don't get the chicken sandwich. Everyone working at this spot was very nice and super friendly! The location itself was very clean and staff were going through table by table and cleaning everything (I was shocked because it was already very clean).

I will not drag the competition, but Dublin's Pass was the clear winner. I won't use specifics, but you get so much more bang for your buck, purely from a financial aspect. Let me first say, the eggs arrive on a plate with a light breading that adds the perfect balance of crunch yet balanced with the soft egg. All brought to you with a mustard that is the perfect combination of pickled veg and punchy mustard. The meat was cooked perfectly. The combination between the meat, egg and mustard marry one another beautifully to lend to a flavor roller coaster in your mouth. What really sets these Scotch eggs apart is the attention to detail. They taste like they are meant for a flavor rollercoaster. Each element feels intentional. Whether you're a longtime Scotch egg lover or trying one for the first time, this restaurant sets the bar high. Simply put: these are the Scotch eggs other places should be aspiring. Eggs aside, we also had an order of the boneless wings. Not a hard thing to get right, but we had roasted garlic parmesan with garlic aioli, to die for. I am from out of town, and this place is absolutely a must. It will never not be on to do list.

This was my second visit to Crave Mediterranean Cafe on Republic Road…read more Overall, it's a solid fast-casual experience -- not fine dining, but that's clearly not what they're aiming for. We spent about $40 for two people and had table service, which was a nice touch. Our waitress was very friendly and had a great attitude, though it seemed like she might have been having an off night as there were a few small mistakes along the way. The food was good across the board -- nothing bad at all, just not especially memorable. The space itself is a plus: larger dining room, comfortable seating, and a nice place to sit and enjoy a meal. If you're comparing Mediterranean options in Springfield, I'd probably give the edge on food to Greek Belly, but Crave offers a more spacious and relaxed dine-in atmosphere. Overall, a good, reliable option -- especially if you value the setting as much as the food.
