Excellent service, food was phenomenal, great atmosphere & reasonably priced. I had the cedar plank salmon, it was cooked perfectly and the additional flavors were complementary. Highly recommend the salmon. read more

Great servers. Thank goodness they are there. It's tough to find a table around that area. And they get you seated right away.

I don't want to come off as slamming them, but our food experience today wasn't the greatest. I was with my family, my fiance, her grandparents and son. Her grandparents had ordered the bbq bacon cheddar burger. They said it was good. She and I ordered the top sirloin with shrimp. My steak tasted alright but was overcooked ( I ordered mid rare) it was medium pushing well done. She ordered hers rare, and it was, but it tasted sour, almost like pickles. We all tasted it and then mine and they were completely different in taste. Also the shrimp was extremely bland tasting with both our meals. I ordered mashed potatoes (awesome.) She ordered a baked potato (also good). Now, they were extremely nice and assured us the meat was fresh that it possibly got cross contaminated with another food and comped the steak and offered her another meal. She also got the bbq burger. Tasted amazing. Her son ordered spaghetti. He seemed to like it. Also, we had gotten house salads with our meals. The salad itself tasted dirty, like they didn't rinse the lettuce, the croutons were stale, and the tomatoes weren't ripe. I hate to rate like this here, because in the past we loved the food and had no issues, but this all was a rough experience. Food:4/10 Service:9/10 read more

Great food & Great customer service. My husband & I enjoy a date night here. Absolutely LOVE there Limousin sangria/margarita blended cocktail. We had the calamari, spinach dip, fish tacos & the Alaska fish & chips. All of the food was fresh and flavorful. Will definitely come bck again. read more

The food was great. The quantity was not as much as before but the drinks and the service made up for it. I'm sad they discontinued the calamari which was my favorite. But still one of the easiest picks in Springfield. read more

My sister was in town from Tulsa. This used to be a place we would go with our folks when my dad was still alive. It was nice to see that they still had the wonderful hush puppies. They were accurate on how long the wait was. It was only 15 minutes and we went right around the lunch hour. The food was delivered hot and accurately. My sister was even able to get a slice of orange for her tea. She was happy and I was happy as it was her birthday! FD's has never failed to deliver to us. read more

In town visiting parents and wanted to take them to lunch. Found this place online, and so very happy we did! Very good food! The Cornmeal Breaded Catfish is a must, as well as the Gumbo Soup. GREAT Old Fashion to cap off the lunch! One of the best I've ever had! We'll be back for sure. read more

Love this place!! Some of the best salmon & freshest vegetables I've ever had! Service was wonderful.

First, I would like to say that if you offer curb side service for to go orders, make sure that the vehicles parked in the designated spots have people in them. Your to go customers should be able to park and call for their order instead of having to drive around waiting for one of the curb side spots. When placing my order I ordered an appetizer of Firecracker Shrimp, the Trio Dip and Chips. I was told about the Spicy Chicken and Shrimp Tacos that came with tortillas, lettuce, Pico, sour cream and salsa. It was supposed to have French Fries as well. After waiting for a spot to become available, I called the number, gave him my spot number and he said my order would be right out. With the bag sealed, I headed home. When I opened the bag I discovered that the chicken and shrimp tacos only had shrimp, pico and lettuce. Not even the full amount of shrimp that was quoted by the manager when I called to let them know of this issue. So, no chicken, no tortillas, no sour cream or salsa and no French Fries. After a long discussion with the manager , I was offered a $10 credit for the next time I call in an order or visit the restaurant. The food was not even worth going back again. Fried shrimp that were not deveined kind of spoiled the appetite. I have never had an issue with FDs but tonight may have ruined it for me. read more

FD's looks like a chain from the outside, but the interior is beautiful. It's not a chain, it's locally owned, and once we stepped inside, the tall windows, warm lighting, and light wood beams made me feel like we had stepped into an Aspen ski lodge (maybe the cold weather helped evoke that feel). We arrived at 7:00pm on a Friday night and had to wait about 35 minutes to sit down. Once we did sit, service was fast and friendly. The menu has a nice amount of diversity, including fish/seafood, steak, chicken, and pasta. Their children's menu has nice choices as well. We had a nice family dinner and will definitely be back again. read more

Out and about on the south end of Springfield? Be sure to stop in at FD's Grill House. Arriving just after 8:00pm, we did find ourselves with a short wait. Expected time was 25 minutes. Turned out to be only 15. The restaurant was full to capacity. No problem. My wife and I were seated at a table. Booths were also available. I did wish I would have requested a booth for a bit more of an intimate experience. The atmosphere was quite lively. High energy. People seemed to genuinely be enjoying themselves. A bit of elegance, mixed in with a bit of earthiness could describe the setting. Stone walls, beautiful wooden top tables, and large glass pane windows. Very classy, and yet with a casual feel. The wait staff were very professional. All seemed to be eager to help their respective customers. I asked my server for her recommendations. She did so without hesitation, offering the house favorites as well as her own. We first ordered the hush puppies as appetizers. A great deal for just $1.00. These were not your regular balls of deep fried corn meal. Long and cylindrical in shape, these lovely plumes of southern-esc goodness satisfied my craving for a touch of pre-meal satiation. Not greasy, full of flavor and just enough spice to bite back and make you want more. Plenty of butter to go along with these puppies. There are other appetizer options, I simply wanted to leave room for dinner. I am pleased I did so. Baby back ribs. Delicious. Tender and literally falling off the bone. Sauce not to sweet or spicy. I opted for the full rack. I mean, what man wants to be seen at a table with a half-a-rack of ribs! Although, I could only eat half. Upon my servers recommendation, I selected the loaded mashed potatoes, not on the menu mind you, filled with delicious bacon and topped with sour cream, butter, and cheese. Thank goodness all diets end of Friday. My second side selection was the matchstick vegetables. This lovely collection of yellow squash, zucchini, and carrot julienned then seasoned and sautéed in something served as the perfect compliment to my delicious protein and bedazzled carb. I only wish the veggie was a larger serving. My wife ordered the catfish and shrimp. Obviously hand breaded, both fish and shrimp, served up with another obviously handmade beauty of tarter sauce and cocktail sauce, both the best I have ever tasted. A great dish and a nice portion, and large butterfly shrimp. My wife selected the sweet potato casserole as her side. Fun, sweet, and delicious. I was left feeling envious, wishing I had selected this for myself. No room for dessert. I finished licking up the bottom of the sweet potatoes casserole bowl for a touch of sweetness. Maybe next time. The service was impeccable. Great attitude, super friendly, and eager to make my experience a great one. The environment was comfortable and clean. Looking for a bit of classy comfort with an bit of traditional fare? Give FD's a try. You won't regret it. Sweet potato casserole for me next time! read more

Despite the long wait time, the food was wonderful and the price was good! We had Fried calamari; even though the squid is not very bouncy but the batter was light and crips. The steak was perfectly cook and tender. Grilled fish had great seasoning. My mother in law's food arrived cold and they were willing to replaced it the hot one. The atmosphere was nice and open! Our family decided to try this place out after all the reviews on yelp! Let me just say, we had flavor overload, it was some of the best food we have had in Springfield. We could not decide what we wanted, so we decided to get several items and share between the four of us. Oh, my will we be back! Our server was the sweetest and keep our drink cups full, made sure we were well taken care of. I make a strong suggestion if you can't decide, if you want to go or notdo it you will be pleased! Great food at competitive prices. The spinach dip chicken pasta is the best thing on the menu. The Calamari is great as well. It's always busy, which is a good thing for the business, but just be prepared for a wait. My only complaint is the location of the restaurant would be so much better if it wasn't hidden away. read more

Our waiter Logan was amazing. We had a huge group of rowdy people and he got every order correct, was unfazed about splitting checks numerous ways - after we were finished eating! Gene (the owner?) a very personable guy! Good food, not great. Grilled catfish over cooked, baked potato under cooked. Coleslaw and key lime pie were fabulous though. I'd go back and try something different that Logan would suggest!!! Lol! It's a busy place, loud but reasonably priced. 4 dinners, soft drinks, one beer and one dessert without tip approx $57. read more

Great food and service and the prices are very reasonable I like the Fish and Chips and the Catfish dishes.

I am going to admit I wasnt expecting much. A place with Grillhouse in the title doesnt sound that appealing to a vegetarian - but man was the food awesome! The fried pickles are perfect - and the hushpuppy tube things are magic! (and super cheap) I had the sweet potato casserole as my dessert and it was fantastic! Will go again! read more

Good food at reasonable prices. Went for Sunday dinner and it was pretty crowded. Great decor, but it was a bit loud. Waitress was attentive and polite. Appetizers Fried Pickles: Great Calamari: Great Main Dishes Steak and Shrimp: Great Fish and Chips: Good and a good portion. Crisp fries and great slaw. Cod was decent for having been frozen. Fish tacos: Big portion, but not so good "tacos". It was actually a burrito filled with mushiness and cut in half. Contents were presumably slaw and fish? There's a yelp photo of some nice looking tacos with crisp lettuce... not at all what we were served. read more

Well, consider me underwhelmed. Came for the burger, as it seems to get good reviews, and I was craving a good burger. Arrived 45 minutes before close. They definitely appeared to be in closing-down/clean-up mode. A host (or server) walking from the bar looked surprised to see me but quickly seated me in a booth. Both he and my server were polite and pleasant and efficient, but I didn't get a particularly warm vibe from either. I decided to go ahead with the FD Burger, despite several other appealing options on the menu (the fish tacos seem highly regarded, and they had several steaks at surprisingly reasonable prices). The preparation with the fried pickles and chipotle mayo looked pleasing. My food arrived barely five minutes after I ordered it. Yes, the restaurant was pretty empty, but that seems oddly fast. The fries were lukewarm. The burger patty was warm but I think it had been sitting for a while and/or reheated, as it wasn't particularly juicy. My server didn't ask me how I wanted it cooked, though it came out an acceptable medium, with a decent amount of pink. I'm not convinced my plate was prepared to order. Flavor-wise, the fries were good for basic grillhouse fries--thicker cut and fried up to a nice crisp and with healthy seasoning. It's too bad they weren't hot. The burger proved to be less interesting than expected. The fried pickles had definitely sat for awhile, so they didn't add any texture to the burger (and not much flavor, either, though I do appreciate milder bread-and-butter pickles over tangier dills). That said, the chipotle mayo did add a nice (but far from overpowering) kick, and the package as a whole was definitely edible and satisfying--just not anything worth going out of my way for again. Atmosphere-wise, it has a nice, trendy mid-scale grill ambiance, with lots of stone and pine--actually somewhat reminiscent of places I've been in Seattle. It was mostly empty when I arrived, with perhaps 8-10 of the 30-odd tables occupied. That was surprising to me, since not long before I arrived, Google Maps was indicating a 45-minute wait. I had deliberately delayed my arrival here to avoid that, because the last time I tried to come, there wasn't a single parking spot available, and since I didn't feel comfortable parking in the hotel or Texas Roadhouse lot next door (and didn't want to wait forever for a table), I had ended up bailing. This was the polar opposite experience, and I was surprised that all of the people who were supposedly waiting 45 minutes for tables half an hour before I arrived had apparently already eaten and left in that 30 minutes. Perhaps I need to take Google Maps' live crowd data with a bigger grain of salt. (Regardless, this place is clearly popular.) Maybe my experience was tainted by the fact I arrived relatively late (if 45 minutes before close is "late") and the kitchen and waitstaff were more interested in getting ready to leave on-time than cooking me fresh food, but based on this experience, I don't think I'll go out of my way to re-try it. I'm trying to liken it to some other places I've been. It's just a generic chain-like mid-scale grill/taphouse kind of place--the kind that are a dime a dozen around the country, decent but decidedly unmemorable. I guess I'd say it's kind of like a BJ's Brewhouse, though one where the execution was off. The one thing I will say is the pricing is very favorable. My burger was all of $8.95. That plus a $4.50 bottle of Boulevard Pale Ale and I was out the door with tax and tip for less than $17.00--much less than I expected I would pay when I walked in. Most everything on the menu looked very reasonably priced, including the selection of steaks, most of which were around $15. Perhaps that's the reason it always comes up on Yelp as one of the top 10 places for burgers and American food. Maybe the quality is much better earlier in the day, or maybe my fellow Springfielders are just looking for a good value for OK food. Although the city's dining scene is improving slowly, based on my experiences here so far, I'm thinking the latter might be closer to the truth. Still haven't found many restaurants I'd be proud to bring out-of-town friends to, unfortunately. read more

Have been to Fish Daddy's several times now and yup we are fans. Great prices on good food. Our favorite app is the firecracker shrimp but the hush puppies are worth a try. The lady is in love with their fish tacos and I have not had a bad meal their yet. Although I will say that I'm not a fan of their quinoa. Last visit I had the steak and shrimp and was spot on. Steak cooked to order and shrimp full of flavor. Got me through my surf and turf craving. The place gets very busy so be prepared for a small wait at classic lunch and dinner times. The staff has always been friendly and the prices are excellent. read more

This place was great! Wait was around half an hour, but flew by with the help of a beer or two at the bar. Best calamari I've ever had and of course you can't complain about the $1 hush puppies! The firecracker chicken tacos were an easy 10/10 (fries are awesome as well), but I also had a few bites of the Santa Fe fish tacos and the firecracker shrimp -- all awesome. The waitstaff put up with our large group/corny jokes without complaint. Will definitely return here in the future!! read more

Great food choices, nice menu, very tasty food. Friendly wait staff, our favorite Steakhouse in Springfield.

FD's Grill House 012618, My Daughter and I ate here tonight out of necessity and time constraints as it was about 1930 and the Texas Roadhouse next door had a 1 hour wait line and we needed to be back at the Holiday in at 2130 for story time. 1 hour wait is no problem; Coach's story time was non-negotiable. 15 minute wait that turned into a 10 minute wait got us seated in a hurry. This is what I had for review * Ice tea no sugar. w/lemon * Starters: Classic Calamari * Entrée: Red Snapper Alexander; buttered corn; southern coleslaw * Desert: Shrimp Gumbo We were seated and made drink orders and were allowed to menu for a bit when our waitress came and took our order. We ordered the Classic Calamari to share and I ordered a cup of Shrimp Gumbo to sample. Calamari arrived with a cup of marinara sauce and a lemon half with a seed bonnet. The bonnet should be used by more restaurants as it eliminates seeds from dropping into your food while you squeeze the lemon juice of it. It also eliminates the accidental squirting of innocent civilians. Calamari was lightly fried and not overcooked, rings only and no tentacles to be found. Marinara was neat. Gumbo arrived in a small cup as ordered. The remarkable part was that there were three large shrimp and sausage pieces in a perfectly colored and flavored roux. After I cleaned out the cup I was wishing it had been a bowl. This was good stuff. My Red Snapper Alexander was served on a 12" white platter, grilled and nestled on a bed of rice, covered in an Alexander sauce. Alexander sauce is not something I see very often. It is a thinner version of a white gravy made with butter as a fat, then flour to make a roux and you then add enough clam juice or seafood broth for a desired thickness. There were also four pieces of crawfish and three small shrimp that could have been cooked in the sauce. I couldn't tell from the flavor and the plating looked like it was mishandled from the kitchen to the table. It was kind of homely looking but tasted great. The buttered corn I ordered as my side was placed on the left side of the plate and was sweet and buttery as advertised. My second side was their southern coleslaw. It was good but not remarkable. The restaurant was nice and dare I say upscale, it was very clean and modern. Wait staff was properly attentive and were not overworked as the place was full and there was a good flow throughout. They have a little something for everyone on the menu. It's not too extensive or exotic but does have a lot of fish and shrimp type plates. Worth a go if you can't get into the Roadhouse. I write these reviews to assist you in the food experience and not so much the service experience. If you enjoy my review(s), please click compliment or follow me. God Bless! read more
