The atmosphere was upscale, yet not too formal. There were people wearing anything from gym shorts and a hoodie to western wear to business casual with a table even having a double date of girls in prom dresses. The food was reasonably priced for the portions and everything was very good. We had the triple dip, which was queso, black bean dip, and salsa. Salsa wasn't too impressive but bean dip and queso was good. The steak and beer-battered chicken tenders were cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. Southern green beans were souther with a hint of spice. I would definitely get it again. Dessert options are only one - Key Lime Pie. As a large citrus pie fan, I took the bait and was glad I did! Most places make a cream pie with a hint of lime - not these people! It was key limey, like a key lime pie ought to be. With a buttery cinnamon graham crust, whipped cream on top, and a lime wedge, it was very tasty. read more

I was so excited to try their salmon. I travel to Springfield weekly, and a coworker highly recommended it. I phoned in my order for the trio. I requested the salmon times 2 and catfish. I was told I can't do 2 salmons, so I opted for 1 salmon and 2 catfish. Was extremely disappointed after a 12 hour workday to get to my hotel to find NO salmon and shrimp instead. And no plastic wear with my take out. My receipt did reflect salmon with the up charge for it. I also tipped $3 for the wrong food and no utensils. My wife and I took our daughter and son in law to FD's Grillhouse for their anniversary. After a very short wait we were seated and promptly waited on. Our waitress took our drink and appetizer order. We had a mix of cocktails at the table. The Painkiller and the Rainbow margarita was definitely a hit. For our appetizer we had the spinach dip which was also excellent. Two of us had steak and shrimp (one grilled shrimp, the other fried), one had the cedar plank salmon, and finally, fish and chips. Everyone raved about how good the food was. On top of great food and great service, the value was unbelievable. This restaurant has the most reasonable prices. Four of us with drinks, appetizer, and meal was barely $100. We will most definitely be returning to FD's Grillhouse on a return trip to Springfield! read more

We are from out of town, but visited this place after reading the good reviews. I must say this place is a good quality restaurant that has varied selections for anyone. That being said, I was a little surprised that they only offered 2 soups (clam chowder or gumbo). We were seated right away, but the booth was a little crowded from table to seat (and neither are movable). It's a little noisy in there as well, so be prepared in case you want a quieter establishment. The waitress was very friendly, and brought our drinks in due time. I ordered the firecracker tacos because I saw multiple reviews that they were tasty. I was not disappointed. The tacos arrived fresh, and the firecracker sauce was just right - not hot at all but a mild heat. The fries were seasoned well. Another in our party ordered the Salmon salad. She said it tasted very good, not fishy like some of the farm raised salmon at other restaurants. The salad was a large portion as well. I really liked this place. Wonderful Clam Chowder and Incredible Fish Tacos. The Chowder has more clams than any I've had anywhere and I doubt one can find better, even in the northeast U.S. The Fish Tacos are unique. They are wrapped more like a burrito, but they are stuffed with perfectly fried (or grilled) catfish and nice proportions of cheese, fresh veggies, and a great house-made sauce. The Gumbo is also very tasty with a lot of shrimp seemingly added on top when served so as not to over cook the shellfish. read more

Service was very fast which was great cause I was starving and considering how many people there were we sat down at a booth right away. We ordered calamari, gumbo and Alaskan fish and chips. The calamari could have been seasoned a bit more but was still very good and a huge portion. My gumbo was absolutely delicious with huge shrimp cooked just right and lots of delicious okra. The fish was very good but could have been fried a tad longer. The tartar sauce that came with it was one of the best though. I'll tell you this is a great spot and you can't complain about the service or portions. This is our second time and it's been consistent. The place looks upscale but it is casual with good lighting and nice ambience. I ordered the Firecracker Shrimp as an appetizer - highly recommended! It's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside and it's seasoned with just the right amount of spice and creaminess. For my main entree, I got the 7oz Top Sirloin and Gulf Shrimp dinner plate. It's $14.95 and comes with baked potato and a choice of side. I replaced the baked potato with mashed potatoes and gravy and had Southwest Quinoa as a side. The plate also comes with a small serving of rice and an onion ring. My server also recommended the fried catfish so I ordered a piece to add to my plate. It's only a $1.50 per piece! Glad to have tried it - it's flavorful but not too salty. My overall experience at FD's Grillhouse was good. My server, Nicole, was really friendly and attentive. Quick and excellent service. Overall my experience was positive with just a few concerning issues. First let me say that the service was great, speed of service and food was good and the food all tastes good. However, cleanliness is an issue at this restaurant.
