Another great dining option out on Main St. I think they may be one of the newer ones out here and I think they transplanted this from Burlingame to more weekend touristy Half Moon Bay. I think they may be a better fit out here as it seems the owners with its SF dining scene experience, can relay their concept to peeps out in more splurge mode, versus just day to day dining. Pretty casual but with a finer dining edge. Quirky in style with furniture like you'd see in an artsy boutique and lots of paintings/art that seem from people they know. People in shorts/hot weather gear galore and lots of natural light just made this a very comfy out for me. Server I got was very easy going with a nice relaxed pace. Nothing came out too fast nor too slow. Menu mostly Italian inspired but with dead on California ingredients. Well ran show. Pasqua Pinot Grigio ($14/5*) Perfect for a warm late afternoon outing. Crisp, cool with a stone fruit edge. Butter Lettuce Salad ($16/5*) I'm sure this is on their menu year round as their basic salad, but they'll just rotate ingredients around according to season. On my mid summer out it was whole tender leaves of butter lettuce tossed in a perfectly balanced yet tangy white balsamic vinaigrette. Summer touches were thin sliced fresh peach, some sliced almonds and chunks of goat cheese. Nice opener. Seafood Linguine a la Limone ($35/5*) I think they're evolving this dish as when I saw past pics, it looked more like a traditional seafood pasta with neutral colors. When my bowl arrived it was a vibrant green, that looked dead on like a pesto'd pasta. But upon trying it wasn't anywhere near a conventional pesto as this had zero basil. But it seems they did make a pesto of sorts with cilantro and green onions and used that to flavor the sauce. With the zing of lemon and garlic just made for exquisite bites to go along the fresh seafood. The seafood that day were large clams in the shell but there were also little bits of just chopped clam bits throughout the pasta, so it seemed like there were a clam bite in every bite. Then there were about 4 large perfectly sauteed prawns that I could actually cut with a knife, they were that large. And with a mound of perfectly cooked linguine and their toasted homemade foccacia, just made this a clean plate award winner. Pistachio Panna Cotta ($13/4*) I usually love most panna cottas, but I've never had a pistachio version. Light green that it almost looked like an Asian green tea version. Pistachio flavor was indeed there, but this was a heavier version of panna cotta to me. Most are usually crazy light. This had more of 'pudding' texture. And it was topped with a stabilized cream of sorts, tasted creamy but it wasn't basic whipped cream. This was more dense but it really didn't taste like anything but cream. Just wished it had some special flavor to it, couldn't even detect any vanilla. And topped with some candied pistachios with a super sticky exterior that I was worried that it might pull a filling out. Lol. Capped off a nice day hiking and absorbing the area, would repeat in a Half Moon heartbeat. read more

On a Saturday dinner time is definitely a busy place, I guess that's a good sign for visitors to have in mind. The place is nice and clean and full of local and visitors. Definitely has a nice setting inside and patio (when the weather is appropriate). We encountered a little hiccup with seating arrangements & having a waiter -- took a little while for one to approach us. It was really noise between the tables, so we ask to switch to another table so we can actually can hear the waiter & have a conversation. Samira was very nice and informative, let us know that the restaurant is serving a large party & things are going to be a little backed up -- now we understand. Food is definitely worthwhile to wait for & enjoy. The Caprese Salad served with a twist, smoked in an enclosed glass lid, which opened at the table -- it was a fancy-dinning feature. Bucatini de Pepe is as good was other places we tried -- added bonus of the Parmesan cheese wheel for the whole act. Definitely, one of my favorites dishes. Risotto al Nero was the main reason for choosing this place -- it was not disappointed. The kitchen boss was very kind to able to substitute the Pappardelle for Risotto --made my evening! The garlic bread was very fluffy but i think it was missing something that could've made it better. Overall great experience and i liked the decor of the restaurant, very classy. For appetizers we ordered the Focaccia Alla Recco with Stracchino and white truffle oil. To be honest when they brought it to us I was like ummm. The appearance looked off but the flavor was there! It was so good. We ordered the Fattoria E Mare- Plate Selection For the cheese: Pecoreto Al Tartufo, Mimolette, Beppino Occelli (this one was orange, it tasted a lot like parmesan). I'm not sure if it was the Pecoreto Al Tartufo or the Mimolette that I didn't like but I liked one and not the other. For the meats: Air Dry Wagyu Beef Bresaola- This one was not good to me. Least favorite of all the meats we got. Spicy Sopressata- This one was good! Salame Toscano- this one was my favorite Dry-Aged Prosciutto Di Parma- This one was good! My boyfriend and I were so indecisive on what we wanted. So my boyfriend got a pizza and I got pasta for us to share. My boyfriend ordered the Meat Lover. He loved it! The dough tasted amazing. If the dough taste good that what makes a great pizza. I ordered the Spinach Fettuccine. I was really excited for this. I was a little let down with the flavor. Not sure if the flavor was lacking because the fettuccine was spinach. I added a lot of pepper to the pasta and it added more flavor. It was still missing something else for flavor. Our experience at Fatorria E Mare was unfortunately underwhelming, especially considering this was suppose to be a special meal, followed by our engagement. (Engagement did happen, just not a lovely meal.) Upon checking in for our reservation, we were promptly taken to our table. We immediately noticed the temperature on the left side of the establishment (presumably due to the kitchen) in which we were seated was uncomfortably warm. We were greeted by our server, Marco about 10 minutes after seated and offered water. After browsing the menu, we placed an order for the calamari and the soup of the day, which was corn chowder when Marco came back with still and sparkling water. After receiving our calamari, Marco asked for our dinner order, which we asked for recommendations on. It would have been nice for our first time at the establishment for him to go over specials, recommendations and any other tips for ordering. We selected the Lobster Bisque Risotto and the Linguine as was suggested by him. It seemed that because we did not order alcoholic beverages,that we were not given the same service as those around us, although it did seem that it was possible that our server was on a lot of tables. Our courses were not coursed out well and took 20-30 minutes in between each. We even had to ask for our check after we were finished eating for 15 minutes. He was very polite, but we did find the attentiveness and attention lacking. As for the food items we ordered: - Fried calamari and onion rings - 4/5 - portion was small but tasty. Sauces were nice and calamari was tender. Breading was good but not the best I'd had. - Corn chowder - 3/5 - tasty but seemed more like a puree and less like a typical chowder. Creamy and truffle flavoring, but lacking hardiness of a thick chowder with no bits of corn. - Lobster bisque risotto- 3/5 - seafood including the scallops, prawns, and lobster was lovely in texture and flavor. Risotto itself was watery and lacking flavor. - Linguine al limone - 2/5 - despite being the most popular dish in Yelp and Google reviews, we did not love this dish. It seemed to have been sitting under the heat lamp for a while before being delivered to us, as it had a dry film on time. Flavor in the entire dish was lacking, even in seafood. Dish itself was lukewarm warm. This was a miss for us in more ways than one. read more

We'd like to recommend for your consideration a gem hidden in plain sight that doesn't get the notoriety of its competitors, but is very special. Our family dinner last night was wonderful. Standout dishes include the smoked burrata and the bucatini pasta mixed table side in a giant cheese wheel. It's a true family run establishment. Our Waitress Samira was warm and attentive and even brought her dad Pablo (owner and wine sommelier) over to the table to help us pick our wine. From start to finished our experience was 5 star. The staff is very friendly & helpful with making recommendations. We had the bruschetta & calamari to start. I was looking forward to our anniversary dinner here as the ambience is lovely though a bit lively for a Monday night. We ordered a County Roasted Beet Salad to share but I would have enjoyed more arugula in our salad. There was a few beets, strawberries, oranges and some small tomatoes but the presentation was lovely. Hubby ordered the halibut which was moist and tender while I ordered the linguine with clams and prawns. The prawns were gigantic however I wasn't expecting the kick from the Chile to be strong. We've lived in Half Moon Bay for over 10 years and always walk by but I should have read reviews before ordering from here. Our go-to Italian spots are always It's Italia or Meza Luna. For my Moms birthday she wanted to try a new place, because she saw it on FB.. smh. Unfortunately, I spent over $170 on horrible, awful tasting food. So disappointing! If I was blindfolded, I would have not guessed this was "authentic 'Italian' cuisine as claimed on their website. First if you mess up fried calamari then I truly don't know how you remain in business? It was soggy! My husband ordered a simple clam and prawn linguine... covered in jalapeños?!?!!!?? With 2 out of 5 clams UNOPENED??? Huh? What a rip off! I was excited for the dish I ordered-- fettuccine with Dungeness crab, vodka tomato cream sauce and basil. It was SO spicy I could barely eat it! Chili flecks covered the dish! Did not taste or see a speck of basil? And it tasted like relish? Very confused by this flavor. Did not taste vodka tomato cream sauce. It was really sweet? Which was so disappointing. Next was branzino which they should call it baby branzino because it was the size of my hand. Had a wonderful Mother's day brunch this day. Reservations were made with a short wait once we arrived for our table to be ready. Loved being able to get side-by-side seating. In the room with the open kitchen on the left. (I prefer this room to the big one). Lighting is nice and it is airy inside. Ordered the blueberry drink which i really enjoyed tho i dont drink whiskey that often. BF got the bloody mary and that was yummy as well. Got the rose petal pancakes and short rib hash from the brunch menu and the spanish octopus and branzino from the regular menu. My fav were the rose petal pancakes and branzino. The pancakes r pretty thin but there r three of them, fluffy and pink and yummy syrup on side witg fruits! Branzino was lightly salted and crispy which was yummy! I didnt like the hash i just dont think i like the flavor palette. The octopus was okay im not a huge fan but my bf is. Their Foccacia bread they serve is amazinggg. We spent $100 on a flavor-lite and off-texture pizza (the margherita), the bucatini that reminded one of canned Alfredo sauce, poorly flavored broccoli, and--I don't mean this in a snobby way--an inedible meatball. Food and service was subpar, and as an avid golfer that too close to my score than I'd like, with what we expected based on the price. Visited on Saturday night of Memorial Day weekend. The place was packed (we had secured reservations earlier in the day for a late dinner) and we had a wonderful table in the front room. The service here is exceptional. The wait staff is knowledgeable about the menu and helped us select the right amount of cheese and chacuterie for our table of six. We also had the calamari and the smoked mussels. Calamari was just average, but the mussels with pork belly were terrific: every last drop was scooped up. Of the charcuterie, we particularly enjoyed the lamb sausage and prosciutto; the board had some great bread samples and also pickles (and maybe fruit?); four meats and three cheese were perfect for six people. Entrees were so good. I loved the Cacio e Pepe prepared tableside. Super creamy and peppery. The short rib pappardelle looked great, as did the seafood tagliarini. Two of our party split the Prime Rib Bistecca - this was also a show, with final prep, slicing and sauce prepared tableside. You'd think that would be a lot of food, but every morsel was enjoyed. And then we still had to have dessert! The Affogato came with biscotto and was exceptional. Others enjoyed a bread pudding and grappa. Of course we also had house cocktails and wine throughout. The meal was truly wonderful and a great way to start our visit to Half Moon Bay. Highly recommend and we will certainly try to return as soon as we can! read more

We all just love this charming little place by the river in Half Moon Bay. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining. Saturday afternoon Main Street was buzzing, and we had a delightful and delicious meal. It was our servers first shift, so she was not completely up to speed but she made up for it by being efficient perky and friendly. My girl and I split the lasagna, and the bib lettuce, and pear salad. Both were light, delicious, and memorable. The appetizer plates were the real stars of the meal. The calamari, was perfectly cooked and served with tempura veg and a wonderful sauce. The tempura olives were really special. The cheese platter was also amazing. The steak sandwich looked great, and the drinks were top notch. I didn't take any pictures because were were a crowd of six with a tiny baby, and I was just having too much fun. As far as I can tell, this is the best restaurant in Half Moon Bay. If you are lucky enough to be here, (in Half Moon Bay), this is where you should dine. read more
