The Fat Boy's catering truck came to cater for an event nearby and they did a great, efficient, and friendly job feeding so many people! I didn't wait too long for my food either and I can understand how stressful it can get and how backed up the orders can get too. Their speedy work is doubly impressive because they offered multiple things off their menu and allowed people to make customizations too. I got the Cheesy Mikey, which is their hand crafted 1/2 lb angus beef patty burger. The burger is seasoned with their Mike's Fat Boy's seasoning. The burger comes with a generous portion of chopped lettuce, sliced tomato, American cheese on a grilled brioche bun (it was grilled with butter and had a nice tasty crispy edge of the bun). The burger came with their garlic aioli sauce. It's a very filling burger and perfect for me since I didn't have breakfast. I will have to admit that this burger is a bit saltier than what I would have liked, but if you balance out your bites to get enough lettuce and tomato within the ratio, it balances out the saltiness, but if there's the option to adjust it, I definitely would. Overall, pretty good!

Shrimp po boy

Tried the shrimp po' boy and it was decent but didn't quite wow me. The shrimp were nicely fried, bread was good, but the overall flavor didn't stand out. Service was fast and friendly, though, so I'd give them another shot to try something else on the menu.

I can't speak highly enough about Michael and Fat Boys Food Truck! We needed hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries and onion rings to celebrate my dad's 90th birthday. Michael was super responsive and helpful in helping me get the menu together and the pricing was very reasonable. On the day of the event, they were friendly, professional and even wiggled into a tight corner to make our event a great success. They fed our crowd of 80 as quickly as possible. The food was hot and a big hit! Thank you!

(Dined 04/10/21 SA @ 12:15pm): Boy... I could get fat if I kept eating at Mike's food truck! I recently enjoyed a couple beers at Over Town Brewing Co. when I saw Fat Boys Food Truck as the day's food option and was immediately smitten by the name and logo https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=nTHvAYpeKxts5kKF1e_ECg&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! Prior to these COVID-19 times, I frequently attended, worked, or volunteered at the myriad of year-around events throughout Southern California, yet this was the first time I've ever seen this road restaurant and had to try them out. Would the use of the word "fat" be any indication of the style of food they served!? QUICK BIO "Fat Boys is a Los Angeles food truck specializing in American style cuisine with flair and an ever-changing yet concise menu https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=FzZTvdY_VbJB_IQ5jRXGdw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw". PURCHASE Chicken Mike Sandwich + Fried Egg ($10.95 + $1.00): Their signature dark meat fried chicken sandwich on a grilled brioche bun with lettuce, tomato, and your choice of spicy or garlic aioli (I chose spicy) with an added semi-running fried egg, this was a messy two-hander that had juices and egg running down your chin and all over your hands, the chicken was thick, moist on the inside and extra crunchy on the outside. This was one mother-cluckin' yummy bird https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=j8XFhQOy54pQilo35BgqfQ&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! [ONION RINGS/STRAWS/STRINGS ALERT - 5.0 of 5.0 STARS] Onion Rings ($5.95): A large portion size of mainly large thick rings, these were hot, lightly browned, crunchy, didn't crumble when bitten into while the onion ring (possible sweet Maui!) stayed intact. Nice flavor and truly didn't need any sort of dipping sauce. I seriously thought about another order for the road https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=L7au8iKnx8KEo7rzLVawHw&userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw! SERVICE I dealt with one individual - a male who actually worked at Over Town Brewing Co. who quickly took my food order, and about fifteen minutes later the same person brought my meal! Easy, efficient, and friendly - all good! PARKING (FREE) Being a food truck, they were at the beck and call wherever they were serving food. I drove myself since I was relatively in the area for other errands. Otherwise, the venue was at Over Town Brewing Co. which had plenty of surrounding all-day free parking around the entire place. Another option was to hire a driving service like a taxi, Lyft, or Uber. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE Your standard self-sufficient food truck with exterior menus, order and pick up windows, an area for condiments, napkins, and utensils, no designated seating area, and natural lighting was prevalent during the daytime while electric street and truck lighting glowed at night. There were no TVs while background music came from a nearby business. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL Fat Boys Food Truck was a surprising treat and would consider them again to potentially complete their limited menu (although I rarely ate red meat I'd try one of their Angus burgers) which didn't have any drinks which wasn't a concern this time around. The prices were food truck standard so no deals here. I found exceptionally good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $20.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice...AMEX! 4.5 STARS

Thank You Chef Michael @ Fat Boys for catering our Anniversary dinner and brunch in palm springs. This was amazing food experience to our taste buds.

Food Truck for work

Another food truck for work. 2nd time my employer has used this truck in 2 months so obviously everyone is satisfied. Prompt and professional, these folks were great. I'm guessing about125 people and everyone was happy. Personally, I had the steak fried which were very good. Too good as I would've been satisfied with just half, but I ate the other half anyway. Burgers, chicken wrap, fries, onion rings and some really good cheese cake. Definitely worth a stop if you're hungry! Enjoy

Michael and his team were exceptional for an event I hosted. He communicated professionally prior to the event and was amazing during. He showed up exactly when he said he would and every person we served was extremely pleased with what they got. Service was quick from when people ordered to when they had food in hand. His food was awesome. It was getting compliments all throughout the event from everyone. His team was so easy to work with and so friendly the whole time. The next event I have will definitely include Fat Boys!

Met up with an old co-worker at Ogopogo and this truck was right outside. He came back with fried chicken and fries and I was surprised as to how crispy, tender and flavorful they were! Will definitely get more food next time I am at the Brewery.

Where do I start?!!!! Michael and his team catered my wedding on October 28th in Joshua Tree and the food and service exceeded every expectation I had! If you're looking for absolutely delicious food, Fat Boys is the way to go! Even better, Michael and his team were so wonderful to work with. I called Michael months ago to talk about menu options. Right from the start he worked with us to customize the menu of our dreams -- brunch for dinner! He served fluffy french toast topped with seasonal berries, banana & whipped cream, their signature fried chicken and Belgian waffle topped with butter and bourbon-infused maple syrup (this was a HUGE HIT!!!), and homemade buttermilk biscuits topped with a creamy vegetarian gravy. Folks also got a choice of scrambled eggs (one with with Boursin cheese, truffle oil & chives and the other with mushrooms), plus deep fried diced potatoes with sauteed onions, bell peppers, and garlic, a choice of bacon or sausage (a veggie option as well), and fresh fruit. Michael also ordered compostable plates and silverware, checked in monthly, ordered back up generators, etc. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure everything was perfect. He is so humble, kind, and accommodating! And his team -- just amazing people! He brought a crew with him and they tackled electricity issues, wind, and bumpy backcountry roads to make our day incredible. We are SO SO GRATEFUL!!! AND THE FOOD! OMG! The most delicious and beautifully plated brunch I've ever had. Everyone came up to us throughout the night to tell us how amazing their dinner was. People went nuts over the brown butter, too! The team handled 100 guests so seamlessly, and with a huge smile on their faces. I couldn't have asked for a better experience! If you're looking for an EPIC menu and top-notch service, I highly recommend Fat Boys. Thank you Michael for making our wedding day such a massive success!!!!

On of my Pasadena favorites that never disappoints!…read more My husband and I made an easy reservation at Magnolia House for a relaxing Sunday brunch after a night of Halloween festivities. Having dined here before, I already knew we were in good hands. From the moment we arrived, the hostess recognized that we were celebrating our anniversary and made us feel welcome. We were seated inside the bungalow's main dining area, where we settled in with water and our drink orders. My espresso martini was smooth, flavorful, and a great way to start brunch. For our meals, we ordered Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros, both of which made for a wonderful brunch. With fresh vegetables and thick-cut bacon, we were both very happy with our selections. Our server, Shadow, was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. Magnolia House continues to deliver on everything I enjoy about a neighborhood restaurant: charming surroundings, well-prepared food and drinks, and genuinely friendly service. We asked for medium but it was dry and completely gray inside. I had higher hopes for this one. The Basic breakfast plate was your typical eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast combo. It was good but the best item was the sourdough toast! Crunchy on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside. We also got a side of the Belgian fries which was good too. Loved the decor. There's indoor and patio seating along with a cozy bar area. Servers were great and checked in on us frequently throughout our meal. There's paid street parking on Lake Avenue but I recommend parking for free at the Macy's and Erewhon parking structure across the street.

We arrive at 6:30 it's already packed so we put the party down for a wait time and proceed to wait. Issue at hand: we were told by the host stand it would be about 30-40 min wait for seating for the size of our party.....so tell me why we didn't get sat until 2 hours later at 8:30? I'll tell you why the manager (male wearing a pink shirt) has no experience as a manager clearly Before this sounds like a hate rant I myself work at a pretty face paced well known restaurant, I understand good days and bad days for restaurants but this manager at GRANVILLE clearly has no control or authority over how the turnover of the restaurant looks. Not only myself but several members of the party went up multiple times to ask why the table they were trying to seat us at wasn't being prompted to leave. That same table was dining when my family arrived at 6:30 and most likely finished eating at some point WAY before us getting seated. I physically watched this specific manager who oversees the entire establishment walk upstairs, stare at the party who is just chatting at this point and chose to walk away and do nothing, it took an entirely different set of employees to take initiative and get our table ready by letting the sitting party know there were other customers trying to use the table. If I have to make my point crystal clear, If as a manager, yet alone overseeing business manager, can't have the right speaking skills to plainly let a party know that their time is up what's the point of them running the operation. It just proved to me that money for one party was worth them rotating and seating more customers for them to make more profit. I'll end it with the food being fairly decent and flavorful, but with the gentrified prices they're charging I would hope that at the least. My personal opinion I'm not going to be telling my friends or encouraging anyone to stop here unless they can get the right business mindset together

It wasnt that busy at the time of our arrival. There were a lot of tables and the noise level was quiet. The host was nice and sat us not too long after we arrived. The table that we got sat at was extremely wobbly. My father-in-law noticed another table had napkins placed underneath to stabilize so he did the same to our table and it worked. Tara took our order and brought out the drinks. The food was 90% great! The 10% that fell short was a combination of things. 1) menu online and the physical menu said corn bread (which we were told no longer serves them). If its no longer available, update the menu because we were excited to try the corn bread. 2) a bbq place with no wet naps, that is really weird. However, they did bring me a stack of paper towels that were wet as if they were wet naps. 3) only 1 steak knife was provided in the platters. It was hard for a party of 6 to cut up meat with only 1 steak knife. 4) one of the sides came out cold, and hard. I bit into a macaroni and it felt raw because of how hard it was! I even dropped the macaroni on the plate and it rang! We brought it to the servers attention and we were able to get a fresh one free of charge. We loved the short ribs and the tomahawk steak! They were delicious. Baked potato as a side item was very large! During the whole time we were eating, no one came by to check on us, refills were not provided until after we were done eating. We never got one of the drinks that Tara wrote down and it showed up on the check. I was trying to get a staff members attention, and my hand was raised up, and there were hosts that saw my hand raised, but did nothing. There were other servers and runners that saw it too. Took a while for us to get any help. We eventually flagged down our server after what felt like 5 minutes. We brought the charge to our servers attention, and they corrected that too. Overall, the table service could have been a lot better, fix broken tables, and I suggest you bring your own wet naps or baby wipes because they dont supply any.

We started with drinks and I honestly don't remember what everyone had. The Mai Tai was a little lackluster, though, but the other cocktails were decent. For food, we started with the oysters, potatoes croquettes and agnolotti. The oysters were fine, can't complain about oysters, but they really didn't stand out necessarily. The croquettes were tasty, nice and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside with smoked bacon and cheddar cheese. And the agnolotti came topped with a truffle foam and filled with ricotta cheese. Also a nice bite! For entrees we tried the pork chop, rigatoni, shrimp penne and the bucatini spaghetti. The shrimp penne has a good amount of shrimp in it, which is always nice, but there seemed to be a missing flavor profile to make the dish pop. The same with the rigatoni with basil pesto, it just tasted like something was missing to elevate it into a great dish. The rigatoni did have that nice pesto green color which stands out though. The bucatini was a little better with the spiciness from the vodka sauce giving it a little punch, but the stand out was the boneless pork chop with broccoli and cheddar covered potato gnocchi. Pork chop was cooked perfectly, great flavor on the pork and the gnocchi hit as well. Overall, Italian spot in Pasadena seeing up didn't nice looking dishes. The agnolotti, croquettes and pork chop were definitely stars of the meal, while the pasta dishes didn't hit like we all hoped they would. I'd stick with the proteins and maybe skip the pastas.

We visit frequently enough that the hosts, management, and servers recognize my dear friend, and that familiarity is part of what makes coming back so special. There is a certain standard of hospitality we have come to know and appreciate, which is exactly why I felt compelled to reach out. I would also love to acknowledge our server, Destiny, who was absolutely so on brand . She was warm, attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely a sweet. She even went out of her way to help me find a cocktail similar to a French martini that I couldn't remember the name of. Unfortunately, the experience took a turn when we ordered the Hawaiian ribeye, medium rare. We started with our usual favorites, including the pressed sushi and spinach and artichoke dip, since the grilled artichokes were out of season. Everything was lovely until the ribeye arrived. Upon cutting into it, I immediately noticed how unusually tough the meat was. I decided to let it rest a little longer, hoping that cutting against the grain might improve the texture. Unfortunately, it did not. We politely brought this to our server's attention, and that was when we were approached by the front of house manager, Matt. I have to say, his response was incredibly shocking. Rather than approaching the situation with curiosity, understanding, we were met with a tone that felt condescending and dismissive. He essentially suggested that if we ordered the ribeye again, we should expect the same result, and recommended that perhaps we order a filet instead, implying that the ribeye simply was not the right cut for us. What bothered me was not the suggestion itself. It was the delivery and the assumption behind it. I understand that different cuts of meat have different textures. My father is a chef, I have worked in hospitality at Soho House in Malibu, and I have spent years dining in restaurants across the country. I am certainly not claiming to know everything, but I do know the difference between the natural texture of a ribeye and a steak that simply is not up to standard. More importantly, I know what thoughtful hospitality feels like. We were not looking for special treatment. We were not trying to be difficult. We simply wanted to enjoy a beautiful lunch together after not seeing each other for four months, at a restaurant we have always loved. Unfortunately, that interaction completely changed the feeling of our afternoon. What disappointed me most is that Hillstone has always represented a level of consistency and care that makes people want to return. When a guest brings something to management's attention, especially in a respectful manner, I would hope the response would reflect that same standard. I do not expect every meal to be perfect. Things happen, and that is completely understandable. But I do believe that how a situation is handled says far more about a restaurant than the mistake itself. I wanted to share this because it genuinely was not the experience we have come to associate with Hillstone. Destiney was a beautiful example of the hospitality that keeps us coming back, and I wish that same level of care had extended to the management interaction. I hope this feedback is received in the spirit in which it is intended. We LOVE your restaurant, and I would hate for an experience like this to become representative of a place we have held in such high regard.
