I enlisted my Dad who owns a dealership in LA to help me find the right Bay Area auto shop. He took the task very seriously and talked to 5+ shops. When he spoke with Martinez Auto Tech, he could instantly tell they were knowledgeable and they gave feedback on what was and wan't necessary for 60,000 mile service. Their prices beat out other local shops as well. When I dropped the car off they were able to take care of everything in one day (spark plugs, oil change, CVT drain and fill, brake flush, rear and front trans axel fluid) for under $1,000. To top it off they were so kind and happy to answer questions along the way. I never felt uncomfortable, unlikely majority of shops I've been to solo as a woman. 5 days later, our VW Golf died and wouldn't restart. I had it towed to their shop while they were closed over the weekend. I called them Monday morning to see if they could figure out what was going on. They were so accommodating and happy to squeeze me in without an appointment. They figured out it was an issue with the alternator and had the car back and running before the day was over. They didn't even charge me for charging up the car since I had just done my Subaru service. I really appreciate a small, local business that values their customers. This was such an act of kindness that I won't forget. I'll never service my cars elsewhere as long as I live in this area and will always recommend them to anyone - especially if you aren't a car expert and need honest guidance and recommendations. Fernando quickly explained his initial thoughts on the cause of the problem and his plan to confirm and fix the problem. He then gave me a very reasonable cost estimate to do the work. A few hours later, my car was ready before the promised time AND he had adjusted the tire pressure and topped of the fluids as needed. I am reasonably confident that the intermittent starting problem has been fixed based on Fernando's knowledge and experience. Explained what was the problem of my car and he told me to bring it in after lunch so that he could take a look at it. Brought the car in after lunch as promised. Right, when I got there, we test drove the car around the area and went back to the shop. He QUICKLY worked on the car and gave me a call within the hour. But Auto World opened my car gave me an estimate, called their parts supplier, and fixed it within the hour. I saw them also help another customer and they were fair fast and courteous. The value was definitely worth my time! They also have the skills sets. The other vendor said I needed to replace the motor part, but these guys simply re-aligned my window track.
