DO NOT patronize this establishment. For a while now, we have been taking different cars for an oil change to Clayton quality auto service. On occasion, they would tell me that my vehicle had XY or Z wrong with it and they recommended immediate repair. I always declined. This week I took one of my vehicles for an oil change and was very specific about the quality of oil I wanted them to use. They assured me they would use the specific type of oil I requested. They did not. They put in a lesser quality oil as indicated on the little sticker they put on my car. When I questioned them about it, they denied making a mistake. They also told me that I needed a big transmission repair that was required at my mileage on my vehicle. I declined their offer for the repair on the spot and drove to my longtime trusted mechanic. My mechanic pulled up the specs on my vehicle and there was no type of transmission repair needed at my specific mileage. There's no transmission repair called for for my vehicle for the next 10,000 miles. Clayton quality auto service was also recommending repair for two other customer that were at the business at the same time I was. Many people would not know if there was something wrong with their vehicle and I believe this is an extremely dishonest establishment trying to use scare tactics to perform unnecessary repairs on unsuspecting customers who may not have a trusted mechanic to double check. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. If I could give less than one stars for this place, I would. Extremely dishonest and manipulative business practices. read more

I had gone to Clayton Quality Auto for oil changes (brought my own oil in), once asked them to fix a valve stem in one of the wheel (when someone burnt it) and did some other simple troubleshooting. Funny little update to add to my previous review. I went to Kings Donut which is located right behind this poor excuse for an Auto shop and the owner/front desk guy/scammer came out and saw me getting in to my car and just starred me down as I drove away LOL I also can't help but laugh when I pass by the shop and they have a "15 minute oil change" sign outside knowing every time I went there I spent at least an hour and a half there and you probably will too if you dare to do business with them. This place should be legally required to remove the word Quality from their name because they do not provide QUALITY service and the reviews reflect that. Not a place I would recommend. The mechanic seemed puzzled while working on my car. They weren't able to fix my car. The mechanic referred me to another shop after charging me $150 for his 20 minute job. The other shop asked why they charged me if they couldn't fix it. He said to take it back to them and either have them resolve the issue or refund your money. They wouldn't refund me the $150. Instead, they said I could have a $150 credit towards other services. Not the answer I was looking for. The Matco tool guy was there while I was having issues and hooked up his scanner to the car. He said the computer wasn't talking to the ABS module. I asked him if he knew a good mechanic in the area. He reffered me to them and they have been great. I understand that stuff happens. They should have just issued a refund. I tried to talk to the owner but he walked away ignoring me and proceeded sit down with his buddies and have lunch on his picnic table infront of the shop. That to me was extremely rude. My experience was not reflective of the 4.5 average star rating that this business maintains on Yelp. I struggle to give negative ratings on Yelp, but felt the need to for Clayton Quality Auto Service. I called at 12pm on Saturday asking if they had availability to replace my battery in my Honda CRV. I also asked if they had the specific battery on hand. Staff answered "yes" to both questions, and said "come on down, we can do that right away for you." Great! When I arrive, staff immediately began to take the old battery out of the car. After about 15 minutes of waiting, I was informed that the new car battery was actually not in stock, and that they would have to order it. Not a huge deal, it happens. It was at this time I was quoted $220 for the parts/labor. A little more than I would like to pay, but I understand. I ask "ok fine, when will the new battery arrive?" 15 minutes I was told, sounds good. I wait at the shop for an hour and 40 minutes before the new battery finally arrives and is installed. Staff rings me up and says "that will be $272" Wait a minute, you said $220 an hour and a half ago? "Yeah well the first guy I called didnt have the battery so we had to call another shop." I was not informed of this throughout the hour and a half I was sitting at the shop. So I'm curious and look up how much the battery actually costs online, and its $134. So even if they're upselling the battery a bit, I'm skeptical that a 10 minute battery install should bring the total to $272. Staff knocked off $12 to bring the total to $260 as a courtesy. I understand auto work is not easy, and small businesses work hard each day. This place used to be good, which is why I've been coming here. My last several visits, the guy running the shop tells me I need this and that fixed (which I later find out I dont need by calling the dealership and asking). I came in for an oil change and spark plugs. The guy says it's $600 just for parts so it will be $1000 total. That's when I called the dealership who told me parts were $123 for spark plugs. The guy at the shop then tells me I need my transmission filter changed. Umm what? The dealership confirmed that's not needed. Today is my last visit here, time to find a more honest shop. Is anyone else concerned that he is not typing anything into the computer when coming up with pricing? Anywhere else I go, I get an exact estimated total with change included. I got my car towed to this spot only to add more issues to it and cost me MORE money. My car was stuck at my house for about 3 days, all three of those days I'd try to start it and it'd make a slow ignition noise, start up then turn off. Got it towed to this spot, they tell me it's the starter after about 20 mins then tell me it'll be fixed within a day. I get a call the next day and they tell me the engine is dead and they can help me install a new engine for an astronomical price. I decline and say I'll get a new opinion. Upon picking it up, the cars fully charged battery was completely dead. Then when the AAA dude had cables to the battery, the noise was completely different when starting the ignition. THESE guys messed with my car and damaged it without a doubt! SAVE YOURSELF from these sketchy mechanics ! read more

this establishment was recommended to me by my dad whose work vehicles get serviced here. i was at honda in concord getting a recall service done on my car but i didn't want to get my oil changed there because of how much they charge for everything (over $100 for an oil change???!) after getting done at honda i drove over to clayton quality, drive around the back and was immediately approached by a technician and told him i wanted an oil change. he asked regular or synthetic, to which i replied regular, and i left my car key and my car with him and walked inside. the employee at the desk suggested synthetic oil, saying regular lasts about 3,000 miles and synthetic lasts about 5,000. i waited inside since it was raining and before i know it i was told my vehicle was finished. still unsure if my vehicle ONLY takes synthetic or if it can take either and i was upsold on synthetic but the whole process from driving up to getting back into my car took about 20-30 minutes total on a wednesday afternoon so i was content. i paid $60 for a synthetic oil change compared to the regular oil change that can be about $40ish, i believe. i have a theory that my car dealership always took so long with oil changes because they're looking around for other things to loosen or break completely so they can try to tell me i need to buy new parts from them and pay for the service to fix what they broke. LOL. anyway, really happy with the service at clayton quality auto service. they got the job done quickly and the process from start to finish was straight to the point. i definitely recommend coming here. especially if you're a girl and have constantly been taken advantage of over oil changes at other car places. honest service, two thumbs up. thanks guys. read more
