I've had the pleasure to work with the folks at Solano Way Auto Repair related to two of my cars. The first issue was related to my old Toyota Prius. They were able to give me an extensive review of all the existing issues which helped me decide on whether to fix or sell. I ended up selling due to the "juice wasn't worth the squeeze" to fix it. They also worked on my newer Jeep Wrangler and provided an extensive report to help prioritize what maintenance I need now and what to plan for in the future. The owner, Ken, and his office manager, Adam, are very friendly and offer helpful advice. The overall value is high in their work and fair pricing. Highly recommend. read more

Best ever!! Oil change, tire rotation with a comprehensive service review, great photos and intelligent discussion of future options. I waited for an hour (they have a shuttle) and got to observe Ken & team treat everyone like family. Value very good for what they did. read more

I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for the exceptional service we received from Ken at Solano Way Auto. Our issue began when our 2019 Nissan Sentra got a flat tire. After putting on the "donut" spare, the car had trouble shifting into fourth gear. Because this model is known for transmission issues, we called several shops, and they all informed us that the transmission would likely need to be replaced. However, once we had four new tires installed, the shifting issue stopped. When I initially spoke with Ken, he was incredibly compassionate and offered to look at the vehicle and discuss financing options. When we called the next day to let him know the issue had resolved, he kindly explained that the donut spare was likely what caused the powertrain to rev. He then offered to scan the vehicle for error codes free of charge. We brought it in the following day, and no codes appeared. I truly believe any other shop would have taken advantage of the situation and charged us $6,000 for a new transmission. Thank you, Ken, for your honesty and integrity. Solano Way Auto is now our go-to mechanic shop, and we will highly recommend you to others. read more

The guys running the place are very friendly and are probably even knowledgeable about certain car problems. (They have lots of training certificates on their wall to prove it.) I won't go there again for basic maintenance, though. I went in for a coolant flush and a possible explanation as to why my heater wasn't working well. They tried to sell me a new thermostat because mine was opening a whole ten degrees under 'optimal' operating temperature. (No thanks.) I got my oil changed there out of convenience since they were already working on my car, but that was over $100. (Steep.) I was quoted over $1,100 to replace my spark plugs when I was told (by a different mechanic) the labor manual says that job should take 2.2 hours for my car. (Pass!) After performing their 'complimentary courtesy inspection', they didn't even mention the potential issue with my front suspension I asked them to look at. Bottom line: I'd rather pay a nominal fee for a useful initial inspection and deal with a mechanic who discloses reasonable labor breakdowns (with rate and times) than get a free complimentary inspection and then get presented with large fees with no real explanation of labor costs that don't necessarily address my problems. read more

When the air conditioner in my 2019 Subaru Forester stopped cooling the cabin air, I called a few independent shops in Concord, to find one that has an AC recovery machine that handles R1234yf refrigerant. Most independent shops do not have the $10,000 machine, so it took several calls to find a shop that referred me to Solano Way Auto Repair, "He has the machine." I set up a morning appointment for the following week and got a fair estimate for AC troubleshooting and service. After I turned over the key, the shop gave me a ride home. After seven hours, or so, the owner, Ken, Jr., called to let me know that my car was ready. He explained the various steps that his techs took to ID the refrigerant leak and that the AC is now fully recharged and operating normally. He then sent someone to pick me up at home. The final bill matched the initial estimate exactly. As a courtesy, they inspect and photograph many parts of the vehicle, to ensure that the owner is aware of items that need immediate service or may need service in the near future. I highly recommend Solano Way Auto Repair. read more

Second time I have used them. From out of town for work, they got me as quickly as possible. Did a great job and preformed a safety check.

I needed an oil change and possible brake work just before a long road trip. As a first-time customer, I was welcomed warmly by Ken, Jr. and Adam at my 10 a.m. appointment. As it turns out, I needed rear brakes, 4 new tires, a new battery, and new wiper blades. As first I was told I'd have to bring the car back another day to have everything done, but they found a way to complete all the work that day. I'm impressed and grateful for the work that was done and for the SAR crew going the extra mile for me. read more

Ladies!!! This is the only mechanic / auto shop I've felt comfortable taking my cars to without feeling pressured, taken advantage of, or upsold as a woman. I went in thinking my engine needed checked so they made me an appointment for a diagnosis. Went back after playing with some buttons to find out I needed brake fluid. The entire team was helpful and easy going. Didn't charge me for a quick top off and told me I needed my brakes changed but didn't try to get me to make an appointment. Service is outstanding! read more

Had a starter replaced on an accord today. Ken JR has GREAT customer service and his crew got the job done on schedule as promised, fairly priced. Why Ken JR's CS is great: * prior to taking the car in, I called to get an estimate and Ken told me they don't do phone estimates but still voluntarily recommended that if it was the starter and since it's a Honda, I should replace it w/ a specific starter motor to avoid further headache down the line. This was 100% free advice that goes a long way in my book. Needless to say I brought my car into his shop. *unbeknownst to Ken JR, the car had been sitting for over a year and the oil had replaced about 3 months before it began to sit. Since the car was already in his shop for the starter, I called about an hour later and asked if they could do an oil change as well. Ken JR said they'd be able to do it, and then a few hours later Ken JR called me to say, "your oil is full and clean. We can change it if you'd like but the condition looks good." I explained the car had sat for a year and he then recommended changing it. He could have easily just taken my money but he chose integrity instead. Awesome neighborhood/family run business that definitely got a new customer. read more

I starting goning here for years when the Dad managed. I was happy until over this past year there was one problem after another with the service. My Uncle, Cousin and myself were over charged for the work that continued to have problems. They are not a quality shop and overpriced for EVERYTHING. If you use this shop make sure you check EVERYTHING. I will no longer recommend this shop . read more

Grrreat! Solano Way Auto Repair is fantastic. I've used different mechanics for various issues but so glad to have finally found one I can rely on and return to. My roommate had some work done here and recommended them. Given that they're right off my exit, I had been meaning to give them a try. I had some long overdue maintenance items to take care of like changing tires and I was dreading some kind of leak but was very thankful for Ken Jr.'s patience and thorough explanation of what I'd compare to learning another language. We replaced the driving belt, the thermostat thing, and some other whatchamacalit stuff that I'd have to dig up the paperwork to remember. Feels like a brand new car and happy to have another 5 years with my truck read more

I never even made it into this shop.. this guy was my kids soccer coach, I mentioned to him that my ac was out and he said he could help. Even offered to drive the car in himself since we were local. Exchanged numbers with him, messaged him... no response. Messaged again and again, finally responded, messaged him again.. no response again. The guy just ghosted me. Now if that's how he treats someone he knows.. good luck going there in person. And after reading the reviews I totally get it. read more

I recently took my 2002 Toyota Camry to this shop, expecting to pay for a 2 hour diagnosis. We were given a tip about something to try first. Apparently this car sometimes has problems after the battery is disconnected and re-connected, sometimes dying and having to be started again. When we followed their tip, the problem stopped, and no further work was needed. If I have any problems in the future, I will definitely go back to their shop. Karen M. 7/16/23 read more

We brought in our second automobile, a truck. Same great service. Better than Factory! This time I noticed all the continued education placards. These guys are serious about the health of your car. Excellent again! (9/2019) I had put off some major repairs and I found this service to be exactly as advertised. I was glad I tried them. How rare is that? If Ken says he can do it, he can. 34 years in business. Excellent! (5/2019) read more

Very straight forward pricing. Super easy to get an appointment Highly recommend!

I worked her for about 3 months after high school. If I didn't anger the owner so much by walking off the job (I got a better job with better pay that required I start right away) I would have taken my vehicles here, but my guilt kept me away. I even have my dad go here for vehicle repairs. They really do great honest work. They never once taught me a short cut or asked me to do anything unethical. If anything they broke me of my bad habits with car maintenance that I learned from my family and showed me the proper way of doing it. If you don't want to be screwed, maybe you ran out of lube, call Solano Way Auto Repair. read more

I have a 2008 GMC Yyukon with a 145,000 miles. Instead of going to the dealer I decided to support my local business and it was the best decision I could have made. I brought in my truck because it kept making a weird "get off an old mattress spring" noise from the rear. From the get go, Ken Jr was very courteous and advised me they would check out the issue and perform a full vehicle inspection as well. Not only did he call me to provide an update on my tuck, he sent me texts with a link to a website that showed what they did along with pictures of the issues they found. My truck needed a lot of attention. My rear ear brakes, rear differential, transmission, and a couple door lock actuators needed to be replaced. I still had time with the front brakes, but I decided to have them change them as well. Ken advised me that it would take a couple days to complete the repairs and that he would call me to provide updates. After two days of having my vehicle, Ken was a man of his word and constantly kept me in the loop with updates. I now have my truck and feels good as new. With the winter approaching I know my truck would do its job and provide safety for my family. Thank you Solano Auto Way. read more

These guys are super honest and super friendly. I have taken in my car to get my oil changed twice.
