Honest and efficient. Was told I needed new brake pads by Les Schwab during routine tire rotation but their quote was ridiculous. Called around and these guys had a great price and I could bring in same day. I brought the car in and he told me I didn't need new brake pads for a long time and actually called Les Schwab and spoke with them too. That's when I knew I would be a customer for life since I live in Martinez. It's hard to find honest people these days! I've brought my car back for several tuneups - oil change prices are also better than the local oil change locations. I also had my transmission replaced and eventually my brake pads replaced. They always finish the work on time and are really nice people. You do get a discount if you can pay in cash. read more

Honest, quick, no BS. Didn't try to upsell me on anything and kept me informed the entire time. Definitely will be coming back again.

PLEASE READ: took my car in that was over heating . I was told a"diagnostic" would specifically pin point the cause. I told them to go ahead and do it. The next day they claimed it was a thermostat . I asked if they were certain that after I pay for the work the car would be fine. They assured me it would be . They charged me to replace thermostat and then called me saying it actually wasn't the thermostat. And said "eventually I would Need to change it anyway so it not a big deal" then they said they would continue to diagnose it and figure it out for me... later that day they called and said it was fixed. They supposedly test drove it and it was fine. However they "didn't exactly know how they fixed it " ... I took them for there word . I went on one test drive and the car is spewing coolant probably from an easy to recognize area to a mechanic who actually cares to fix it.. so thanks for charging me to replace something that was working fine and not even figuring out that a car spews coolant with 5 minutes of driving. A 10 year old can see the car was not fixed... it was the man at the counter claiming these things... maybe I just have bad luck b read more

I just found my new mechanic - great value and great service! I took my 2003 Toyota Highlander here with a few things that needed urgent attention. I received honest feedback about the vehicle in regard to what needed attention right away and what I could wait on. Service was completed in one day and was an easy drop off and pick up. Also, the owner lives in Martinez - I love supporting people who has a business in the city they work in. read more

Had an issue with my air conditioner... they changed out the compressor (that blew up )... then another visit with my rear lights.. fixed it and changed the rest of the bulbs too... then my air wasn't working again.. had a bad compressor... they switched it out under warranty.. I'm feeling the cool air again. Yes! They will always be my go-to when I have issues with my Mercedes. Thanks Billy and MTZ team! read more

We bring all our company vehicles. Great customer service! We are always highly satisfied. Prices very reasonable.

Very honest and good quality work at a very good price. Helps me keep my 1965 Mustang running good. Anthony took over the bussiness from Robert and it has not change. The only thing I don't like is his business is growing and I might have to wait a day for my cars to go in the shop.. Keep up the good work. Dale C. Martinez read more

I brought my car to MTZ Auto Repair at the end of 2024 because it was leaking oil and I smelled smoke. I usually go to the Kia dealership in Stockton, but MTZ was closer and had good reviews. They took my car in the same day and later told me the problem was the water pump, even though I had recently replaced it and the issue was an oil leak. I trusted their judgment anyway. After they said the car was finished, they called again and told me it suddenly wouldn't start. I was later told the key was no longer communicating with the car's computer. They ended up taking my car to a Kia dealership without my request because they couldn't diagnose the issue themselves. After weeks of delays, I was told I needed a new computer costing over $2,000. I couldn't afford that, so they offered a workaround by installing a push-button start under the steering wheel, which they said they discounted for the inconvenience. This entire process took over a month, during which I had to rent a car to get to work. When I picked my car up, I was shocked to see I was charged for the Kia dealership diagnostic (even though MTZ chose to take it there), and the water pump repair. To make things worse, the original problem was never fixed. My car was still leaking oil and I still smelled smoke. I had to take it to another mechanic, who actually addressed the issue. A year later, I'm still dealing with problems starting my car because of the push-button setup, which fails every couple of months unless I pay thousands for a new computer. I brought my car in running and left with more problems, more expenses, and long-term issues. I would not recommend this shop. read more

Anthony went above and beyond to look at my truck last minute before a trip and ensure me that it was safe to drive. You don't find that level of customer service, care, and honesty anywhere else. read more

I highly recommend MTZ Auto Repair if you are looking for an honest reliable mechanic. The entire staff from Billy at the front desk to the team of mechanics to the owner Anthony are all super friendly and care about the work they do. They have done work on our Toyota 4 Runner and always keep us in the loop as to how much it will be and get it back to us in a timely manner. I'm very grateful. Thank you!!! read more

The mirror on my side passenger fell off and the dealership wanted to charge 5x the price for a job that literally took two minutes to do at MTZ. Communicative, honest, and as they were a referral from a friend I trusted my experience would be positive, which it was! P.s. For context I'm a single woman so finding an auto place to trust has been hard in the past sometimes not to get screwed with repair costs. read more

My rating is because I'm a retired auto mechanic myself. I've rarely given anyone in the auto repair my appreciation but MTZ has never over charged me, always on time saving me thousands. Reliable, Responsible and Respectful. Rated 100% Best in my Book. read more

My go to auto body shop in Martinez for all my cars. Reasonable and available whenever I needed assistance

Helped my daughter with her BMW 528I engine swap. A few other BMW specialized mechanic shops we checked with first would not work with our extended warranty company who was paying for the engine and labor. MTZ, who I used in the past for other car repairs, took it on for us and did a great job. The car runs great, and they also repaired a few older parts once the engine was out of the car to save us from bigger labor projects for us down the road (serpentine belt, etc) This is a very skilled team and I highly recommend! Easy 5 stars. Brian, Concord read more

I've been going for years! They took good care of me. My dad was the one who suggested the place. They are honest and will work with you.

These guys are fantastic! They knowledgeable, friendly, honest and reasonably priced. They have several years of experience and are able to work on a variety of car makes and models. I use them for oil changes and had then replaced my power steering pump for have of what another shop I'm Martinez was going to charge me. If they cant fix it send it to the junk yard. read more

I ran into an issue with my car. And working a 7 day 12 hour schedule 600 miles from home, I hadn't the time or the tools to do any major trouble shooting of my vehicle to get it functioning properly. I was able to call MTZ, drop my car off that night. They were able to run through it, test and got it back to me promptly the next day. Well the next day on my lunch break. 10/10 of I ever have to goto a shop in Martinez again it will be MTZ. read more

Amazing! The guys were really nice and knew what they were doing. I'll bring my car back time and time again.

Bagno and his guys are super nice and super honest. If you need work done to your vehicle come to MTZ auto!

Had my F150 repaired at MTZ after getting ridiculous estimates from Ford service. They did a great job for probably less than half the cost. Today is my second visit with my wife's car (explorer) - AC not working. They checked my car for free, pointed out a possible leak in the refrigeration line and advised me to go to Ford as the car still new and should be under warranty. Honestly is everything! I highly recommend MTZ and will come back for any future issues. read more

Big hooray for MTZ's knowledge and integrity. Brought my 2018 Sonata in, because it had begun running rough and lacked power. The MTZ crew looked at it, and recommended I take it to the dealer, because the issue might be covered by the dealer's extended power-train warranty. The problem ended up being serious (as MTZ had said it might be) and it was covered by my warranty. So no cost to fix it. MTZ saved me thousands! Of course I will continue to bring my car to MTZ for ongoing maintenance and any future automotive needs. THANK YOU!! read more

We've been taking our vehicles into MTZ AUTO Repair for several years and are always satisfied. They have great customer service and do fair and honest work. My car hasn't had A/C for over 2 years and today I decided to cave in. Just a few hours ago I called in and Billy picked up. Greeted me and confirmed that he would be able to get my car in and taken care of today! About a couple hours later, my car was fixed blowing ice cold A/C again! If I knew it was going to be this easy I would of had them fix my a/c years ago . Thanks Billy and the guys over at MTZ Auto Repair. Here's an easy visual for my review of this business. MTZ was great to work with for a sudden starting issue on a 1997 Hyundai. After a short consult with Billy via phone, we were able to coordinate a tow the next day to MTZ. With a busy day, I wasn't able to attend the tow/drop off, but that was no problem. They received the car, diagnosed and called me in less than 2 hours with an initial report. Car was ready early afternoon and I was able to pick it up at days end. In addition, at my request, they inspected the car and provided a list of recommended services and repairs (it's overdue, so knew of several issues already). I'll be scheduling with them again soon for the additional work. Great service and communication, quick repairs, fair prices, and easy to work with on scheduling, drop-off, and pick-up. Thanks to Billy and MTZ! :) read more

So friendly, honest and reliable workers. This is my go to car shop and I always refer them to friends and family!

Damaged my car, lied about it, and never rectified the situation. Proceed with caution.

Best place around! If you want a mechanic you can trust, go here. Reasonable prices and great service.

I work down the street and pass by this shop daily on my walks. They're always busy, which is a good sign in my opinion, so I thought I'd give them a try. Called this morning for an oil change and they fit me right in. Less than an hour later, it's all done! Great customer service, prices are right - I will definitely be back! 100% recommended. read more

2013 Silverado, lifters. 3 other repair shops quoted more than the value of the vehicle. MTZ gave me a good quote and the guys were very frank with me on options. I took a risk because it was still a lot of money but I really like my truck and didn't want to shop/spend on a replacement. I waited a couple of weeks to write the review because I wanted to put some miles on and pull my travel trailer before writing this. The truck runs like new, these guys are awesome! read more

My car had an oil leak that needed to be fixed. Honda quoted us $800 and insisted a ton of parts needed to be replaced on top of that. We came to MTZ Auto repair for a second opinion and I am so glad we did. They were able to fix it quickly and for much less. They are an honest company that helped me determine what was needed and what Honda was trying to add on for profit. We will definitely come to MTZ Auto Repair for any future repairs we may need. read more
