Heard about this shop through an acquaintance in a Facebook car group I'm a part of. The way that the guy described this shop instantly had me wanting to book service here; it was described as very meticulous, fair, and thorough. That's exactly the kind of service that I like to do when I work on my vehicles myself. I needed to have the brakes flushed on my 2019 Jeep Wrangler. The price that was quoted was less than the dealership wanted, and was very fair. The owner was very friendly and knowledgeable. He was able to drop me off and pick me up from the local coffee shop, where I was able to work while the service was being done. When we got back to the shop, he showed me the brake test that was performed, as well as showed me some of the other cool vehicles in the shop. Honest work, great communication. I noticed leaking fluid from my BMW and the dealership quoted me an insane amount for many things that didn't make sense I needed repaired yet for a newer car. Brought it into this shop (best to stop by, they don't always pick up the phone # listed online but is great once you talk to Bobby) to get it assessed. Very professional- and they looked at the issue, gave me a fair quote, and finished on time. Even showed me the parts cracked and didn't charge me more of an oil cap that wasn't fitting right. 10/10! I took my CRV to Performance Autoworks because I needed to have its axle seal replaced and I also wanted to replace the serpentine belt. Bobby was great to work with and communicated clearly throughout. The price was fair and less than what the dealer quoted me. Not only that, they also suggested to postpone replacing the belt because it's still in a good condition and not the time yet. They completed the work according to the schedule that they promised. I was super surprised to see your recommend that I review this place, considering I could've sworn I left a five star review over a year ago. Apparently I've been slacking, and it's time to make that right. The shop is fantastic. The best part I think besides the fact that they do good work, is that they listen and they don't rush you. I've been having problems with rough idling on my 2014 Ford F-150 for the past three months. I've brought my truck to multiple shops, had major tuneup, changed #7 coil and still having the same problem. I finally decided to bring it to Performance Autoworks, they did their diagnostics and found #7 cylinder had a low compression reading. Bobby informs me of their finding and suggested to bring it to Ford dealership and find out if it's on warranty. Talking about honesty, Bobby and his entire staff is awesome! Pros: - quote for repairs came in at 1/2 the dealership quote - they were able to get me in within a few days of giving me the quote - they made sure I had a safe way to get home after dropping off my car (took advantage of the sun and walked home but I loved that they asked!) - they offered to pick me up when my car was done (again, walked and enjoyed the sun but loved the offer!) - they fixed a few other minor things they found while working on the main problem. - wonderful customer service! I detest dealing with car maintenance. I'm not fluent in car and driver and usually have the hubby deal with these type of nuisances. Typically he would just hit the dealership but since our service warranty is up, I've been in search of a good mechanic. Let's face it, in these financial times, one must try and be budget conscious...buh bye dealership. Time to have major service done on one of our cars. Brought our second car, a Honda Fit, over for another maintenance service a couple months ago. I thought I gave it time before writing the follow-up, just in case something happened. It's confirmed, they're that good. The car feels better coming out of the shop. And for car service, that's pretty much it. Knowing that you don't have to worry about anything going wrong. I was sent to this place by a smog shop to reset my codes due to a check engine light coming on. The two men working there literally dropped what they were doing when i came in without an appointment, got my codes reset in a matter of 5 minutes or less. They told me what was wrong and that it did not really need any repairs. They even showed me the diagnostic screen pointing out what was wrong. Gave me free advice on what i had to do prior to getting my smog check. Here is the best part, they did not charge me for what they did. I was so impressed and delighted by their superb customer service and not even charging me a cent. When my service is due on my two vehicles, i will definitely come back to this place. Honest, skilled, knowledgeable, classy, considerate, thoughtful and extremely worthwhile - these are just some of the words that describe Bobby and Alex and the work they do at Performance Autoworks. They have come through for me on more than one occassion. They have never made me feel hustled. In fact, they look out for me like I'm family. I met them when I had just bought a vw that needed more work than the previous owner disclosed. They were honest with me about what I was facing and helped me get the car in good enough shape to sell with a clear conscience. In fact, the tow truck driver had caused some additional damage, which they insisted I document well and get the towing company to pay for (which they did). Once I sold that car, I brought the next potential car in FIRST and Bobby went through it 'with a fine-toothed comb', finding some work that needed to be done, which the seller agreed to take care of. Whew! I felt like my big uncle was looking out for me and my daughter! If you're local and lucky enough to get a ride from Bobby's wife, you're in for some good conversation and a pleasant ride. I first heard of performance autoworks because it is the shop that works on my mom and younger brother's cars. Recently my work van broke down on the Benicia Bridge and I had it towed to their shop. They did a great job with their assessment and estimate of the repair time (2 days) and priced it very competitively. The local dealership said it would take about a week and cost alot more! Alex is so meticulous that not only he tediously troubleshooted to get to the root of the problem and repaired it, he also checked all corners of the car and reasonably pointed out his concerns. This shop is actually the third stop for my sister's car repair, the second time around was at the Toyota service department, which turned out to be another disappointment. Toyota is supposed to have that "credibility" but its personnel wasn't even able to fix the car after spending hundreds of dollars. Performance Auto Works fully repaired the car at a fraction of the cost! There are good mechanics but there are a few ones that treat their trade as an art with passion: it was the impression I got from this place. I knew I was having a bit of over heating issues but previous mechanics could not find the problem. Then one day driving home my car died and it started to steam from the engine. My dad knew Bobby and recommended his shop. Bobby said it was a blown head gasket. He told me they could open the engine up, take a look around, and repair everything but suggested a faster and better solution, probably cheaper too, which was to replace the engine with a used one from a engine store in Emeryville. The engines there come from Japan with no more than 55K miles. I got my car back 2 weeks after bringing it in. They used the oil I prefer, Royal Purple, they also replaced the spark plugs, engine mount and cleaned up the engine area. The clean up was awesome. My car ran smoothly. I would definitely recommend these guys! read more
