Probably my wife's favorite restaurant in the world. We don't live anywhere close, but whenever we are in town, we always try to come here!

Very much a Cava style restaurant from the bins of fresh greens to the employees that seem like they have too many other things to do to help you. For some reason, I think when my food is scooped and slopped into a bowl, military style, makes it a little less appetizing which was my experience at Farmside. My family and I stopped by on a weekend (Saturday around 12:30) and it was not busy BUT there was clearly a large pickup order the staff was preparing. They were at the tail end of that order when we walked up so we were okay waiting until they finished the order. We weren't in a rush. Once they were ready to take our order it was, again very militant, "what can I get you?". I gave my order of The Pitchfork and was asked "everything on it". I answered and the slopping into the bucket began. The Pitchfork comes with shredded romaine as the base salad which was fine overall however, I would have preferred the kale. I didn't have a chance to ask for kale once I committed to "everything on it". Once the slopping began there was no going back. I am a fan of the bowl I had and everyone with me really liked their bowls too. There are several drinks to choose from that you wouldn't normally find like their array of sparkling drinks. We went back up to order avocado toast and they were out and had to make more. After about 15 minutes we went back up and they had some. I will say it was about the most dismal avocado toast I've ever had. There was barely enough avocado on the bread to cover the bread. The bread did taste amazing though. Overall, I like the food, I like the theme, I like the localness, I love the sustainability (compostable bowls and utensils) so I'd go back. I'd just have different expectations of the level of service provided. read more

First the bad, i asked to substitute cauliflower rice instead of brown rice and they up charged me $2.95. I didn't ask for additional just a substitute. That's totally unreasonable in my opinion. The service was good and the salad was good. read more

I was doing a few deliveries in the Durham area and that was after an 8 hour shift at my day job. So I had an appetite built up. I passed by and decided to go inside. So I checked this place out with no research and no knowledge of what they really offered. The custom bowl is a huge trend now and Farmside is a new guest to the party, except this is no chain, at least not yet! I ordered the Rancher bowl with grilled chicken, black beans, roasted corn, avocado, feta cheese, red onion, corn tortilla chips, shredded kale, seasoned brown rice, cilantro lime dressing and a little honey Sriracha drizzle on top. Not sure how Sriracha fits in with the Southwest, but whatevs! They asked how much dressing I wanted, and I went with medium level. Truthfully, I could have used more. So I asked for a cup of their jalapeno dressing on the side and that elevated it from pretty good to really good! More flavor, more punch. On a down note, I wasn't able to get any LaFarm sourdough bread, they were already out. The beverages were good, I went with the pineapple mint juice, super refreshing. This was a good place to go for a quick healthy meal, I also like that they have outdoor seating. read more

Should I go there? Would I like it? Would I love it? Yes, yes, and yes. You might think "it's just salad!" But then, you'd be wrong. Great ingredients, quick service, and plenty of options. And yes, they have Maine Root soda. Cmon now, just go. read more

So I brought a coworker here today for lunch as we were both craving a salad. She got the caesar salad and seemed happy with it and I got the rancher again. I have to give your staff props for crushing the line! I am as very impressed with how quickly things moved along. I would still encourage them to work on their listening skills because both myself and a coworker asked clarifying questions which did t get answered. I was impressed with the cleanliness as well, especially because it was sooooo busy today! read more

Loved the farmside bowl I had for dinner last night. I walked over here from a nearby hotel and I'm glad I made the stop. It wasn't busy at all when I came in so I had to really build my bowl with the help of the staff. I ended up with a slightly tweaked farmhouse bowl and it was absolutely delicious. I didn't order a drink but they had a great variety of options to choose from. I was intrigued to try the hibiscus lemonade. Next time. Paid about $11 for my bowl. Pretty reasonable for healthy food. read more

This place is really good! I've only tried 'The Rancher' and 'The Farmside' bowls, and the Mac n cheese. The Farmside bowl is great, the Mac n cheese was good, and the Rancher bowl is excellent! I get the Rancher with dressing on side and with chicken, cilantro lime dressing choice for takeout. Consistent taste for me so far, and staff is always friendly and place is clean. read more

Traveling from Richmond to Charlotte and back 2X a month you get tired of the same ole Burger places so we were willing to get sidetracked 10 miles off of 485 South by DURHAM, NC to FARMSIDE KITCHEN we WERE NOT DISAPPOINTED !!! WE are Very HAPPY WE Found FARMSIDE KITCHEN because the Food was so Ftesh & Tasty. Service was quicker than any Fast Food Place I've ever been as the line moves along very quickly. The Staff was very helpful and they have Outdoor Seating!!! Ambiance indoors was Good and although a little noisy we still enjoyed eating there very much. Do what 100s of people do everyday and stop by FARMSIDE Kitchen and enjoy their Bowls of Organic Salads which are Second to none read more

I met a friend here for after-work supper and it was delightful. They put your bowl together from a collection in a bar behind glass (that kind of looks like a Moe's), stir it up and drop it in a bowl for you as you get to the check out. You can choose from a predesigned combination or create-your-own. Wine come in cans and they have fountain drinks that are their own interesting concoctions. It is casual dining, easily boxed to go or to eat there, inside or on the patio. read more

Who doesn't love a good salad! Ordered two salads. However one of the salads were incorrect - probably my fault. Maybe!? The incorrect salad: I intended to order the Rancher salad and instead I received the Farmside. The Farmside salad is not something I would typically order. Apparently for good reason, it just wasn't my jam. Each individual component was good, but I didn't enjoy the combination. I will say the kale was exceptional - very tender. I liked the balsamic dressing also. Perhaps because I was really looking forward to trying the Rancher salad the experience fell short? I also had the salad dressing on the side, that may have altered the overall affect. The second salad was the Caesar salad. Everything was fresh. The quinoa was cooked well. Chicken tender and flavorful. Also, this salad has grilled chicken and I believe the Farmside salad has the SIGNATURE grilled chicken. Not sure if that has a significant impact. Overall, a tasty, fresh, and reasonably priced salad option. Looking forward to visiting again and trying the Rancher. Salad: 4.2 read more

I loveee this place! Such a great salad chain. So many options. You can make your own bowl or choose from a menu. Bowls are reasonably priced compared to sweet green or other salad places. I had a late lunch at this place for the first time, and it was pretty decent and affordable. I ordered the Rancher bowl, and the other party I was with ordered a different bowl (I didn't catch the name), but all ingredients were fresh and delicious. The restaurant is easy to find and has free parking. The inside is well lit, spacious and the restrooms were pretty clean. Area to improve: Some enployees were having loud conversations on the other side of the counter about detailed personal issues. Good place for a fresh salad bowl. read more

Best salad I ever had! For all you salad haters, this place would change your mind. I had the Rancher with the cilantro lime dressing. Just amazing! The shredded kale was fresh and crisp. I loved the contrast between the crunchy corn tortilla chips and soft black beans, corn, brown rice, and kale. The cilantro lime dressing definitely marries all the ingredients. I highly recommend the cilantro lime dressing. It is beyond amazing. This is a must try. It was my second time here and I would be more than happy to come back. I really wish this place was closer or near downtown Raleigh because it was very good. After doing my pre-lunch research here on Yelp, I made the wise decision to get the Farmside bowl which had shredded kale, goat cheese, roasted sweet potatoes, grilled chicken, gala apples, brown rice and a tasty balsamic vinaigrette. So good! They let you pick the amount of dressing you want (a little, regular, or a lot) which was a different option. A limited beer selection is available. They seem to be more focused on the fresh juice bar (all of which they make). The chilled spiced apple cider was great. They had quite a few pick up/take out orders, so keep that in mind. read more

Get the rancher! It was so good and fresh. The line moves quick too. Everyone in our group loved their bowls!

Love this spot for a light and fresh dinner that supports local farms! The store is modern and bright with lots of tables to sit and enjoy your meal. The process is similar to a Sweetgreen, so you can pick one of the pre-designed salads or go down the line and pick create your own. I had the root veggie salad and it was wonderful - lots of fresh kale, beautifully cooked vegetables that packed a miso punch, crunchy almonds on top, and a bold ginger dressing. There's a full list of drinks as well. I really enjoyed the mango, apple, and kale juice. There's a few fruit and lemonade combos as well. And some local soda options if that's your jam too. I hope this place branches out and look forward to stopping by next time I'm in the area! read more

TLDR: Great place to get healthy salads. I recommend The Local Farmer Bowl, just how it comes but with extra avocado and get one of their great self serve drink options. Very easy to get vegetarian options and they also have a decent tofu. I go here for lunch. When I say I go here for lunch I mean this is where I have lunch for a large percentage of my week. I have taken plenty more photos and more check-ins then what I shared here! There is zero chance anyone else writing a review has went as much as I have to this place. I mean I have probably paid their lease for several months. Why? Because of the staff and the quality of the food. The staff is extremely friendly and efficient, they will tear through a long line of customers faster than my puppy can tear up a set of AirPods. Even at their speed they will take the time to help anyone that is new to get the order that they want. The ingredients are advertised to be from local and regional farm partners with sustainability in mind and are always fresh. Their style is claimed to be Americana, and while that is true to some degree on the ingredients presented, you can customize a bowl the way you like. If you're hesitant about holding up the line picking out your choices (please don't be but it's okay I am to sometimes), their online ordering is also quick and seamless with a pickup counter that makes sense given the space they have, . read more

Holy cow what a tasty treat! The menu is super creative and innovative. The staff is friendly, the the ambiance was country kitchen and the place was clean. The prices were also very reasonable. I was visiting from out of state and the young person behind the counter was patient and made recommendations. I was delighted with my choice to order a "shrimp" po'boy. The texture was comparable and the flavors were delicious! Everything was very fresh and visually appealing. All of it was sustainably sourced, using local when possible, and everything was super healthy! Do something good for your body and eat here. You won't regret it. read more

I love Farmside Kitchen! This is my favorite place to get a fast, tasty, and filling lunch that doesn't leave me feeling gross and sleepy. Farmside is a build your own bowl fast-casual restaurant. You can pick between greens and grains plus 6 toppings and a dressing. Essentially, you end up with a tasty salad. Some of the toppings rotate with the seasons, so it's never gets boring to eat here. My favorite/go-to is a bowl with a mix of rice and argula, a mix of toppings, and the cilantro lime dressing. The best part is that they toss the salad for you, so the dressing is nicely coated throughout. Yum! To finish off your meal, I highly recommend taking them up on the offer for the free slice of sour dough bread and purchasing the juice. All of the juices are fresh and tasty and really complement the meal. 10/10 great spot! read more

I love Farmside Kitchen! The food here is so fresh and good! It's definitely quality meets quantity. You get so much for what you pay for, especially when it comes to salad. My favorite is the Rancher which includes brown rice, chicken, kale, corn, tortilla chip, avacado, and so much other goodies. I like mine with the lime sauce which gives it a nice kick. This place reminds me of a mix between cava and chopt. The pitchfork bowl I got was beyond delicious. The tofu paired with the lime, grains, and lemon tahini sauce was superb. Th drink we got was great as well (I believe it was the kale apple green juice). Each bowl comes with a side of sourdough bread which is a great balance between grains and greens! The bowl came $12-15. Atmosphere was pretty busy. We went for lunch on a weekday which is usually when this area is pretty busy due to the different companies in the area. The line moves quickly though and we did not have to wait long. We were also easily able to find a table. Overall, would recommend for a nice healthy lunch if you work in the area. read more

Used to come here when I worked in the area and stopped in again yesterday to an overflowing lunch line - thankfully they move things along pretty quickly!! Might be overwhelming for first-timers so I recommend looking over the menu beforehand or taking a picture and seeing how ordering works for the the people ahead of you. Quick, professional service with healthy and flavorful options. I typically do a BYO salad - you go down the line and first select your green (can do 50/50), then grain(s) (believe you can select 2) and protein or roasted veggies, then 6 mix-in vegetable/crunchy toppings, then dressing. My favorite dressing is the jalapeno ranch - to all the folks complaining about not enough flavor, definitely encourage you to try this one!! Inside is clean and modern yet still warm/cozy as well. read more

I can on a work night hoping to get a good salad because I hadn't eaten all day. I was So disappointed at this place. It used to be my go to salad spot but I'm putting it last on my list. First, quicker is NOT necessarily better. They zoom through the line and toppings so fast I can hardly read what they have on the signs. Before I can walk the line my salad is at the cashier. Sheesh. Less greens more toppings. My salad was mainly greens and a spoonful of toppings and dare I ask for a bit more. That's an upcharge. For onions and cucumbers?? I paid .75 for a spoonful of onions and cucumbers on a veggie salad . So my veggie salad was 90% UNMASSAGED kale a spoonful of rice and a spoonful of overcooked onions and peppers. No one should be subjected to unmassaged kale. . And stop putting the small salad dressing containers inside the salad. Those containers have been TOUCHED by many folk and now you just throw it in my salad! ‍. Isn't that unsanitary. I asked for 2 salad dressings and they weren't even good. The honey ginger SOUNDED good but there was one problem- where was the GINGER? And the honey chipotle lacked...chipotle. I had to literally come home and doctor up this salad so it could be edible and delicious. I added some chickpeas, took out 1/2 the kale and added some spring mix and added some fresh veggies from my fridge free onions and cucumbers. Now you may ask why didn't you just make you a salad in the first place. Because that was the whole point - I didn't want to! That's why you go to restaurants. All I ask for is a decent salad. Well I guess Cava is it for a lil extra of the toppings, plenty of FREE dressings and a great green to veggie ratio. Farmside Kitchen is currently my last choice. Hopefully this will review will cause you to consider stepping up your game and slowing down on the line. read more

Great place to grab and healthy lunch, just don't expect to use a 30 min lunch break! It gets very crowded here during lunch hour and a bit overwhelming if you are looking to create your own bowl. I've always stuck to The Pitchfork with the yummy tofu. The employees behind the counter feel a bit frantic so I try to keep it simple. Getting the bread on the side is really nice and they have some good handcrafted beverages including a pineapple mint drink that I love. Overall a really nice healthy and local place for a bite to eat, but be warned it's not quiet or cozy during a weekday lunch rush! read more
