Let me start off by saying, the food is amazing. I got the farmhand bagel and it was exceptional. A restaurant sells food. So that is my priority which is why they received four stars. Now to the rest. I walked in and waited in line for about five minutes! This is great, I like to see local businesses flourish. Once ordered, I got my tea and waited. And waited. And waited. Three people had received their food even though they ordered after me. After the front cashier noticed I was there for some time, she had checked and my ticket never printed in the kitchen. Love their food as always, but today I was faced with an unusually long wait. Normally I'm not one to complain, but the reason seemed to be the young woman with dirty blonde hair working the register. Not only was she distracted and completely ignored me when I walked up to order (turning her back on me when I said hello), but she was incredibly rude to my girlfriend and I. A friend and I took a day trip to St. Augustine a few weekends ago. We figured we'd just drive down and then figure out a place to eat. So as we were going down Route 1, I spotted the sign for City Bistro and read it off to my friend. Imagine "OMG, City Bistro! TEA HOUSE AND COFFEE CO!" I could see a number of characters walking in here to make the order and then go on their way. I think this is going to be a new favorite place of mine! I'm excited to work my way through the menu! Lots of vegan and vegetarian menu items. While I'm not strict, I prefer to eat this way when good options are available. They are abundant here! First time in, I was warmly greeted by Savannah and she took the time to tell me her favorite things. I went with her suggestion of the vegan chorizo breakfast burrito and it's delicious! So delicious that I got one to go for a friend. It's finely ground and seasoned tofu. The flavor is to die for and the textures are spot on, with a nice amount of warm soft and crunchy. Every meal I get here is identical. I always say that's a sign of high quality and a chef who cares. Those meals should come out completely uniform, like soldiers! Top notch presentation. We found this place because it was close to the hotel. We almost didn't stop because there were no cars parked there, but I'm glad we went inside. We went for supper and the meal was really good. I couldn't decide what I wanted so I ordered a Vegan Bagel for me and a Vegan Chorizo Wrap for the baby lol. I'd have to say, the bagel was really good because it was very light, not like a super thick bagel. It was also the cheaper option. I think the Chorizo Wrap was good but it was mostly Tofu Scramble inside with a few potatoes so I liked the bagel better. The bagel had better flavor and was good with the mild sauce they have on the tables. I tried to get some mustard out of the bottle but it was nearly impossible. Cute concept but not practical. I didn't need the mustard anyways because the order don't come with a side. To drink, I ordered a Hot Chocolate with Oat Milk. The food was tasty and I got to try everything I wanted so I left with a happy belly. It's a very casual atmosphere and they have some cool items inside to buy. We also bought some Chocolate Peppermint Almond Pecan Butter for $12. By other people's posts, it looked like they had local honey but there was only one bottle of infused honey when we came in. I also saw some different kinds of nuts, energy bars, sugar scrub, and bags of various grains like purple corn grits. Cool little spot here, I'd definitely recommend if you're visiting. We were a group of 6 visiting from out of town and wanted to meet for brunch. They had vegan breakfast options which were a plus for me. By the time we got there, they already had a busy morning and were out of some items on the menu. I ordered fresh orange juice and the vegan bagel with tofu. We stopped in for breakfast. The bistro egg sandwich was very good, the spicy jam gave it a nice kick and the sausage was delicious. I have been to dinner twice now. Both times the food was absolutely scrumptious. It doesn't hurt that the vast majority of their food, coffee, and tea is locally grown or produced, even the cheese. The first time I had the steak with mashed potatoes and veggie. The steak was cooked to perfection. The appetizer we split (which you definitely have to split) was the cheese board. It comes with a delicious pretzel and a variety of local cheeses and fruits. It is just about a meal on its own. The second time I went to dinner was MUCH better. They finally have table service for dinner. No more counter ordering which made a much better experience. This time I tried the Pei Mussels, these tender little guys are very tasty and are bathed in a white wine cream sauce. I also tried their bistro burger - definitely worth eating. This was all made better by being able to sit down at a table and eating a romantic dinner that was perfectly coursed and then being able to sit and decide on desert. This place was my saving grace for the morning, so maybe I'm a little biased. It was my 3rd breakfast stop because the first 1 was a disaster (see my Crucial Coffee Cafe review)...and then 2nd didn't stand out enough. A quick and delicious REAL breakfast that wasn't just a floury pastry. My boyfriend and I always choose 2 meals together and then split them (yay for variety!). We chose the ranchero bowl and the salmon on an asiago bagel. Both were delicious and I don't even have a favorite because they were so different. The bowl was hearty and had such a perfect combination of flavors and textures! The potatoes were nice and crisp and the sausage was boldly seasoned. The sunny side up eggs and arugula mellowed out the dish, and overall it was super tasty. The salmon bagel is a classic of course, but the salmon was very light and they used the perfect amount of cream cheese! The spread was also very light and refreshing, not super heavy which can sometimes be the case with bagels and shmear. We actually came back later in the day for drinks! My partner got an espresso with citrus, milk, and sugar, and that was beyond delicious as well. I drink my coffee black but if I had the balls to drink my calories, I'd be on it lol. So overall, I would definitely recommend for something quick and satisfying. And I didn't even have to choose between quality food or quality drinks. This place had it all!
