    Pan fried soup dumplings
    Vernee D.

I think this place just opened this year and I don't think there's enough hype because its YUMMY! We visited randomly not thinking too much about - just craving dim sum, but we were so thoroughly impressed with the quality. We got an order of pork soup dumplings, pan friend chicken soup dumplings, a beef sandwich, and a passion fruit iced tea. Great soup dumplings, I really liked the flavor! But the beef sandwich was crazy good - fragrant, flavorful, and our favorite! The passion tea was also very good and refreshing against the rich meats. The kitchen staff is small, and everything is made to order so it is a bit of a wait. We had a great experience and we WILL be coming back.

Grabbed take out at Fan Asian Corner. Ordered online and it was sitting out in a nice to go bag with a sleeve for my drink to keep it from falling over. I love sticky rice, and the shumal did not disappoint. The chili oil wontons were not as scary as they sound, it was more sweet than spicy and great flavor. The third item I opted for was the pan fried soup dumplings, they were not what I expected. In the pictures when ordering they are in a "soup", but in when I got home there was a small condiment container with liquid in it. Not enough for a soup. I will need to go dine-in and try them again. The Thai bubble tea hit the spot. It was a great meal, easy ordering. They do not offer delivery. Stop in and try them out!

I think I just found my new favorite Asian restaurant. I have heard about them and wanted to try for the longest time. Fan's Asian Corner is most notable for their soup dumplings which were pretty good but my absolute favorite from them is the Chinese sandwich. I can say the sandwich is the best in St. Louis. If you want something decadent and delicious, go for the fried chicken sandwich. It was crispy on the outside but drenched in the honey mayo sauce. The beef sandwich was also very good as well. I also recommend ordering the pork wonton soup. It was so comforting and warm, rich in flavors. The shrimp and cheese pan fried dumplings were also delicious. It was cheesy but not in a way that would be off putting. The portion is very decent for the price. For a party of 4, you would spend about $20-25 per person and be full. In my opinion, that's so affordable! The service was quick and you can see the workers folding the dumplings through the glass window which was nice to watch. I would love to come back time and time again.

I ordered carry out on a Friday night and the order was ready quickly and packaged so well! I ordered soup dumplings, sticky rice shumai, spring rolls and a side of broccoli. Each dish was tasty and very well seasoned. The broccoli was the perfect texture - not overcooked or over sauced. The shumai had that delicious unami flavor and the soup dumplings were a big hit. I was very impressed by how well it was all packaged for carry out! They included all the utensils you'd need and plenty of sauces. Will definitely go back! The restaurant is tucked away in an unassuming strip mall, but don't sleep on it. You don't want to miss out.

We were immediately greeted by a great smell upon walking in, which made a wonderful first impression. We got a variety of items for our first time and left with full bellies. The steamed beef soup dumplings were my favorite since with was filled with a flavorful soup, but the crisp on the pan fried pork dumplings was also nice for anyone seeking a crunchier texture. The sticky rice shumai was good to have 1-2 of, but it's very heavy. Definitely something to share with others. The wonton soup was very herby and enjoyable too. The restaurant was very clean and very calm. There were a few other patrons in there, but it didn't feel crowded. Would come back if I'm in the area again

Ordered the chili oil wontons which is now my favorite place to get them! Simply delicious! I was pretty disappointed with the pork steamed soup dumplings as there was not really any soup in them and there was a weird metallic taste to it. I did not finish eating even one of those. Not pictured that was ordered to go was the chicken sandwich which was delicious! The "buns" were like a pastry dough and the sauce was unlike anything I've ever tasted before. A blend of sweet and savory. Then ordered another order of the chili oil wontons which were also not spicy at all so I really enjoyed that! Oh! And got a Thai boba milk tea which wasn't too sweet. The boba was nice and there was ice but it may have been such a fresh brew that it stayed consistent lukewarm as opposed to an iced boba milk tea.

Had a delicious beef sandwich! Although it took a little longer than I expected it was well worth the wait. The beef was tender and seasoned really well. There were also onions and green peppers to add some diversity to the dish. The crispy outside was also perfectly light and went so well with the beef! The interior of this place is super cute and bamboo themed. You order at the counter and they give you a number and you can find a seat. I went on a mid afternoon on a Sunday and it was busy but I was still able to snag a seat! I wasn't hungry enough to try any other dish but this one was great, highly recommend!

Chili Oil Wontons - An absolute MUST!! Do not skip out on these.

I came for late lunch today and was able to get a table to myself. This was my second time dining in, but their menu has expanded quite a bit since they first opened so I wanted to give it another go. They had some calming music playing and the dining area was clean and serene, as I remembered from before. I placed my order at the register and took notice the large kitchen window which could allow you to watch them handmake your dumplings if you so chose--that's right, everything is made by hand, IN HOUSE! Soup dumplings are their specialty, which I tried in the past--they are delicious, and I don't know of many places that offer them in the STL/St Charles areas. That said, I tried the chili oil wontons and shrimp dumplings this time. I could probably skip the shrimp next visit, but the chili oil wontons are TO DIE FOR. DO NOT SKIP THEM!! I chose pork as my filling, but they offer beef and chicken as well. For a VERY reasonable price, you get enough in one order to easily have a pretty solid lunch. They are tender and the filling ratio is spot on. The chili oil broth could stand on its own, in my opinion. It isn't overly spicy, but they offer chili crisp at your table, which I happily added to up my spice level. Do yourself a favor and try them, you won't be disappointed. I will continue to eat my way through their menu undoubtedly, but these will be a MUST for every single visit, in my book!

Okay, I tried this place a few more times and I can't do there Beef Xiao Long Bao. I don't know how beef is more gamey than pork, but I'm okay with this spot as long as I stick with their pork. While I was ordering, I said one pork steamed dumpling and one beef steamed dumpling. I said, "actually can I have the beef steamed dumpling changed to pan-fried?". Yeah....the dude didn't understood that and added a pan-fried beef, instead of changing it. That's my fault for not checking the receipt even after thinking of how expensive it came out to. However, their spicy chili wontons are a lot better than the first time I tried it. I remember it being sweet with weird flavors, but when I tried my friends', it actually was pretty delicious.

The food was absolutely peak, it was all very authentic tasting. Me and my dad enjoyed it so much we both agreed we'd be back soon; the only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because they didn't have much of a selection to pick from and they didn't have many sauces to dip in (to the owner: I recommend a sweet vinegar soy like sauce for the shumai to be served with!). Also we wanted water and they gave us very small cups to drink from, I don't wanna get up three times in the middle of my meal to ask for more water. ‍Service was alright, they did their jobs and the food came out fairly quick. Not much to say here. The building itself was clean and taken care of, tables bussed and the ambiance calm and relaxing, good for a new experience in Asian culture or a cute date with your partner. I can see this restaurant gaining traction and not having enough seating for everyone. Also quick note here, they use styrofoam plates and disposable utensils which I didn't like because it made the place feel cheaper overall.

    Rachel W.

Nice and cute little place with amazing hand rolled dumplings. We went at open and you could see them hand rolling the whole time. Tried the shrimp shumai, chili wontons, cucumber and spring rolls. The perfect light lunch and something different than the usual. Still plenty more to try on the menu and will be back.

Ha! I finally got to scoot in here around 1pm on a Sunday. You order at the window, pick a seat, and plop your number card down on the tabletop. The teenager perused the picture menu for a moment while the small one chose boba over grass jelly for her tea. I was here for one thing and one thing only - the chili oil wontons. The teenager agreed. This place is adorable. We loved the light wood/bamboo/black/white decor. Modern pop played and customers talked cheerfully. I'm in love. Boba milk tea : this was my daughters first boba experience and she approved. It was VERY sweet with chewy boba, right up her alley. It was a generous size as well. Chili oil wontons: THE silkiest wrapper imaginable. Soft savory filling. The sauce had a lot of umami and chili flavor, and surprised us all with sweetness. They were not spicy on their own. We added the tableside chili crisp and vinegar and yep, they're as amazing as they look. We will absolutely be back for the soup dumplings. And the sandwiches... And the rest of the menu.

We came back and they have air conditioning now! The chili oil wontons were delicious again! We ordered the spring rolls and they were good as well. We went around 6pm on a Friday and it wasn't busy at all and we got our food really quickly! It was really clean inside too

TLDR: Good Food, But A Lot of Red Flags…read more I had been wanting to try Shabu Day for a while and finally made it out. The food was honestly really good -- but there is a lot this place needs to fix before I can fully recommend it. The first thing that hit me when I walked in was the smell. And not in a good way. It smelled like a sewer. Not what you want when you are about to sit down and eat. It lingered the entire time we were there and was really hard to get past. The front of the restaurant looks okay at first glance. But once you sit down you start noticing things. The tables are wobbly and clearly rigged up with makeshift fixes. Extension cords are running visibly across the floor which looks bad and feels unsafe. The menus and sauce bottles were sticky -- like they had not been wiped down in a long time. Little things like that add up fast. I caught a glimpse of the back of the house and it looked grimy and dirty. That is a problem at any restaurant, but especially at a place where you are cooking your own food right at the table. The staff were not very welcoming either. They were hard to find when you needed something and did not seem very interested in making sure you were having a good time. Now here is the thing -- the food was actually fresh and delicious. The broth was flavorful and the ingredients were good quality. That part genuinely impressed me. But for the price they are charging? The total package is just not there yet. Good food can only carry a restaurant so far. They need to clean things up -- literally -- before I come back. UPDATE: One more thing worth mentioning that I think is really important. Shabu Day is strictly all you can eat -- and that is the only option they offer. For most people that is fine. But for anyone with a medical condition that limits how much they can eat, this format is a serious problem. You are being charged full all you can eat prices for food you physically cannot consume in that quantity. That is not fair and it is not inclusive. A lot of restaurants in this space offer a la carte or smaller portion options for exactly this reason. Shabu Day should do the same. It is a simple change that would make a big difference for a lot of people and would show that they actually care about all of their customers -- not just the ones who can eat the most. Clean things up, fix the smell, train your staff to be more welcoming, and give people a fair way to order. The foundation is there. Now build on it.

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Korean Spot…read more I was really in the mood for Korean food, and as Korean culture has become more mainstream, I've noticed that some Korean restaurants have started to feel a bit commercialized. As someone who cooks Korean food myself and spent time living in Korea, sometimes you just want a simple, authentic, no-frills spot that focuses on the food. Thankfully, Asian Kitchen Korean Cuisine, located at 8423 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, delivered exactly that. I knew I was probably in the right place as soon as I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, whose direct and no-nonsense personality reminded me of many family-run restaurants I've visited over the years. It gave the place a lot of character. I kept my order simple and went with the beef bulgogi, while my sister ordered the chicken bulgogi. Both came with rice and kimchi. We also shared an order of vegetable potstickers, which were fried perfectly. Everything was delicious. The food had a homemade quality that felt comforting and authentic. The bulgogi was flavorful, the kimchi was satisfying, and the potstickers were easily one of the highlights of the meal. We ordered everything to go, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but the food definitely spoke for itself. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be a bit of a wait, but that's because the food is prepared fresh. If you're willing to be patient, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're looking for solid Korean food in the St. Louis area and don't mind a straightforward, family-run atmosphere, Asian Kitchen is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.
