    Broths

This is a beloved local spot for all you can eat hot pot. The set up is that for most groups (bigger groups get more options) you will select two broths (out of three) and two meats (out of five). They will serve the hot broth and all the fixings on the side to build. This comes with noodles, veggie selections (cabbage, bok choy, mushrooms), pot stickers, fish cakes, and your meat choices. You can customize it with the sauces at the table and of course free refills of anything on the table. The service is quick. The food is outstanding. The broth flavors are legitimately 10/10. Yes it's not as customizable as some other places but it is so good. It is pretty small in there so if it's filled up, and with it being all you can eat, your wait could potentially be a bit high. It's $28 a person. Don't pass this up.

Thoroughly enjoyed my first experience at Shabu Day. I was invited to join friends for a special occasion. We sat down to a table equipped with a heated ceramic plate. Here; the large split bowl of broth sits (we had 2 different broths in a split bowl). Full plate of fresh veggies, noodles & delicious sauces. Staff instructed us on cook timing & additional options available to broaden our experience such as sauce selection. He came by regularly to check on us as well as refill broth & food items....the all you can eat is indeed "all you can eat". We left fully satisfied & eager to return. ~Christy

Prompt and organized service in a no-frills hotpot restaurant - what's not to love?! The seating was tastefully done - you have single and multiple diner combos to accommodate different parties. The broth had an amazing mouthfeel, flavors steadily climbing as your hotpot stewed. Price point's reasonable too - a flat fee with the option to request more ingredients as you dine. Yes, I would dine here again with a bigger party.

We had a great hotpot experience at Shabu day tonight. We got seated immediately upon arrival. I like how spacious and clean the place is. We ordered the beef broth and house spicy broth with brisket and premium beef sirloin. The beef broth was very flavorful. I also liked the dipping sauces here. Outstanding service and attentive staffs. I think the price is fair for AYCE.

Shabu Day is a lovely little place on Olive that serves all you can eat hot pot. This is the type of meal where you need to come hungry to get the most value / enjoyment. The restaurant can get packed during peak hours, so expect a wait if you come then. Parking is also limited, but there is street parking available behind the restaurant. When selecting meats, you can choose between three types of beef and two different types of pork. After each round, you can switch what you get to try the other types. They also provide complimentary ramen, bok choy, dumplings, fish balls, mushrooms, and cabbage. For dipping sauces there are three put out on the table (spicy, sweet, and savory). Each time I got to Shabu Day I stick to the Sukiyaki and Spicy broths, as it makes for a flavorful experience. Overall, I'd recommend Shabu Day to anyone in the STL area craving hot pot. It's always a delicious and enjoyable meal. And be prepared to leave the restaurant smelling like hot pot!

My friends and I went to Shabu Day recently, and really enjoyed our experience. We were able to try both the Shabu Day House Spicy Broth and the Sukiyaki Broth. They were both excellent with depths of flavor. We were disappointed at first about the lack of rice, but the noodles were a good substitution for rice. Overall we were excited about the experience and eager to go back!

The broth are flavorful. I went with my boyfriend here today and we have the sukiyaki broth and the shabu day house spicy broth. I like the spicy broth the most. This place is pretty new to the area. Parking is limited in the back. We have to park on the side due to coming today on Sunday night. This place is pretty busy, packed but we still manage to find a tablet when we got here. Food is pretty limited to 3 beefs and two pork, pretty simple and limited therefore minus a star. Have a bowl of vegetable with dumplings and fish balls to put in the broth. Hopefully more variety of selections in the future. Service was great and fast. People there are nice and attentive even during busy time. Definitely recommended especially when hungry since it is all you can eat

Shabu Day Overall: 4.6 - If you're looking for a delicious hot pot. I would recommend this restaurant. Tips: - Parking - You can park on the east side of the restaurant. If you're facing the front of the restaurant door. Food & Drink: ***** - The food is delicious. - we ordered 2 broths and both had flavor from the start. - Whenever you order it comes with complimentary veggies - Comes with 3 dipping sauces all are perfectly good with the meat. Price: ***** - For the price of 26.99 (price as of this review). Everything is worth the price. Customer Service: **** - The water refill test failed, that's minus one star - Excellent customer service. Ambiance: ***** - The first time you come to this place it doesn't feel restaurant you are in a traditional Asian restaurant. - Hard to distinguish if this is a Korean or Japanese or Chinese hot pot. - It feels like you are in a modern restaurant Cleanliness: **** - Little bit messy Disclaimer: I'm not a professional food critic. Driving down Olive in Olivette is a true Asian culinary adventure and on one corner sits a brightly lit hot pot restaurant. The menu is simple. You pick two broths (sweet, beef, spicy) and some accompanying meats (beef or pork) and they deliver you a split pot with two broths easy to stock full of meat, ramen noodles, mushrooms boo choy, and cabbage. The broths are so flavorful. There are accompanying sauces to explore as well, sweet, spicy, and a house spice which is sweet but also vinegary. You can bring your own drinks but they do have soda and sake. They are busy, so reservations recommended and keep to the 2-hour time limit. Highly enjoyed and will be back.

I've been waiting for a shabu place like this! I ate shabu all the time in California and missed it so much when I moved to St. Louis years ago. I usually make my own but it gets tiring. We tried Shabu Day last night and enjoyed it! We got the sukiyaki and spicy sauce. The pots are shared at the table. It comes with the meat choices and the bowl of vegetables and ramen. The broths were flavorful and the spicy broth had a nice kick. By the time we left at 7:15 most of the tables were filled (a Tuesday night). I would love a choice of rice at some point because I missed having the rice soup at the end to use the broth of leftover veggies.

3 different types of beefs, 2 types of pork; assortment of vegetables and ramen; this place is our new favorite shabu shabu place in St. Louis. One specific reason is one of their soup bases is basically the broth of a short rib soup from Korean restaurants. Man delicious. You can ask for refills for anything they give you, our favorite meats were beef brisket and premium beef Chili sauce to dip your meat in was great, mix it with any of the other 2!

We chose the sukiyaki (right) and beef (left) broth.

Shabu Day was delicious and such a fun dining experience! Some of the highlights were the friendly service, and I appreciated that they refilled our pot with more yummy broth rather than just hot water when it was low. We also couldn't get enough of the fish balls! While the available options were good quality, the quantity of options for sides, broth, and sauce seemed limited. The meats were yummy, but I really couldn't taste a huge difference between them, even the beef vs pork. The red bottled sauce was my favorite, but I thought the other two thinner sauces were too similar. It'd be great if the sauce options were all very distinctive, like adding a creamy peanut sauce or something. Overall, Shabu Day is definitely worth a try and I'm excited to go back again when I'm craving hot pot!

Great food AND service. The prices are reasonable for the portions you're getting, perfect for a group of friends! I recommend skipping a few meals before eating here to be able to finish everything you order ‍ I was STUFFED

There's something incredibly comforting about sitting down to a bubbling hot pot when it's freezing outside. The first time we tried the extra spicy Sichuan broth, and the second time we went with the chicken broth. Mixing the two creates the perfect balance -- rich, flavorful, and just the right level of heat. We've also tried the sliced chicken, shrimp, and fish. My personal favorite combination is cooking the shrimp and cod together with lots of vegetables. The veggies are fantastic -- especially the corn on the cob, chestnuts, and broccoli. Another fun feature is the toppings bar where you can customize your sauces and garnishes. I love adding sesame seeds for extra crunch, along with chili oil, fresh cilantro, and spring onions. And honestly, even just slurping down the soup at the end is a treat in itself. The service is really great. The ambiance is a bit average, but once you're immersed in the whole hot pot experience and enjoying the food, it honestly doesn't matter. Definitely recommend for a cozy, flavorful meal -- especially on a cold night!

Apparently, I wasn't the only one because this place got packed by 6p on a weekday! The line was out the door. It can be a little confusing for a first time goer as you enter the place and grab a bowl to select the ingredients you want to eat. The minimum weight that you have to buy is 0.9 lbs, but you really won't know how much your bowl weighs until you get up to the cashier and put it on the scale. My bowl was underweight my first time through, so I went back to grab more ingredients. If I had to guess the minimum cost for a 0.9 lb bowl, it's probably about $16, which is a pretty good price for a hot pot. My bowl weighed about 0.97 and it was way more than I could comfortably eat. The next decision you have to make after you have selected your ingredients is the base and spicy level. I went with #1 Oil splash spicy soup at medium spice level. Now, I enjoy spicy foods, but this was at the upper limit of enjoyability. Although tasty, I think the oil in the broth got to be too much and I will want to try a different base next time. After you pay for your food, you get a number which you take to a table of your choosing and wait for your bowl to come out (they cook it for you). There is a drinking water station next to the free rice station, which was around the corner from the complimentary pickled vegetable station. Overall, positive experience and I would return for more. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2026

A Great Hole-in-the-Wall Korean Spot…read more I was really in the mood for Korean food, and as Korean culture has become more mainstream, I've noticed that some Korean restaurants have started to feel a bit commercialized. As someone who cooks Korean food myself and spent time living in Korea, sometimes you just want a simple, authentic, no-frills spot that focuses on the food. Thankfully, Asian Kitchen Korean Cuisine, located at 8423 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, delivered exactly that. I knew I was probably in the right place as soon as I walked in and was greeted by one of the owners, whose direct and no-nonsense personality reminded me of many family-run restaurants I've visited over the years. It gave the place a lot of character. I kept my order simple and went with the beef bulgogi, while my sister ordered the chicken bulgogi. Both came with rice and kimchi. We also shared an order of vegetable potstickers, which were fried perfectly. Everything was delicious. The food had a homemade quality that felt comforting and authentic. The bulgogi was flavorful, the kimchi was satisfying, and the potstickers were easily one of the highlights of the meal. We ordered everything to go, so unfortunately I didn't get any photos, but the food definitely spoke for itself. One thing to keep in mind is that there may be a bit of a wait, but that's because the food is prepared fresh. If you're willing to be patient, it's well worth it. Overall, if you're looking for solid Korean food in the St. Louis area and don't mind a straightforward, family-run atmosphere, Asian Kitchen is a great choice. 4 out of 5 stars.

We had a group of 7 and we ordered 4 dishes (each serving 2) and we had more than enough for at least 2 more people. The side dishes were pretty good. I was particularly happy they provide lettuce for wraps. A lot of places have stopped providing that. The drink menu was pretty good as well with several different options of soju, beer, and makoli. There are also karaoke rooms in back -- we didn't try them this time ... But maybe next time. Everyone left totally full and satisfied.

We started with Vietnamese iced coffee and it was amazing. I wish they were open every day to come get another one during the week!! Then for the ice cream. We tried the cookie dough, cookie butter, and spring bunny. All were made fresh to order with warm bubble waffles. They took about 5 min each but were well worth the wait! Such a fun and delicious experience. It was also so clean inside, cool fish tank our daughter loved, and our server was the sweetest! Can't wait to come back!

The clear noodle soup with seafood had a very flavorful broth and was very tasty. My daughter loved her shrimp pho. The only complaint was the shells were left on the shrimp on both of our dishes, which made it difficult to remove being in the hot broth to eat. We ordered crab rangoon, spring rolls, and fried chicken for apps. All were super delicious. Everyone loved their entrees which included a seafood boil bag, Grilled Kalbi rib with rice, and the grilled bbq pork noodle bowl. There was mixed reviews on the Bubble tea. The Thai milk tea was a hit. Some of the group loved the Strawberry Matcha while others didn't. We can't ever leave without getting ice cream which is always a hit. Service was great. We will definitely keep this on our list.
